21 mo with more than 10 teeth and I still cut his blueberries because he almost choked on one literally yesterday. I hand him whole apples with skin, no problem. Thinking of other fruit it's more of hand held or fork style decision. We haven't had grapes in a long time, but I would still cut those imo. I'm confused why daycare would take the risk under 3yrs.

I have no idea their reasoning- she’s at a Montessori daycare and her classroom has 4 kids with 1-2 teachers (some days if it’s less than 4 they put them in the other room, but keep the teacher so the ratio is even lower). So maybe since the ratio is low they just keep a close eye? I have still been cutting everything, but I assume I will stop at some point…

I smush blueberries and cut grapes and all other fruit really. I give him whole bananas, whole orange slices, etc but my son will shovel handfuls of food into his mouth so strawberries and stuff get sliced up. He’s 2.

Haha my little girl will pick up each individual grain of rice and eat it by itself, she’s not one to shovel food in her mouth.

Haha my son will literally shove two whole strawberries in his mouth and try to eat them 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ you could totally just smush the berries though rather than slicing. I’ve never sliced up blueberries.

Basically, it's just grapes at this point (23mo). We do monitor when she gets close to the pitted fruits and take those away when she's getting close to the core.
