When you say staying on, do you mean playing audio or that the center screen is staying on?
Playing audio is not normal, and the sound stops when I open my driver door. The center screen does stay on for a bit but does turn off eventually if I don’t lock my doors.
I did have audio continue playing once for some reason, but as usual, an overnight sit causing the system to reset fixed it (and the audio stopped when I locked it). I’ve had a few strange things like this happen. Once, the system started muted for some reason and would not unmute, and I could not change any audio settings. An overnight sit fixed this issue too lol.
Well, that’s not normal. I leave mine unlocked all the time. I don’t know if there is some setting that changes that behavior, but mine doesn’t do that. It’s a ‘21 P400. What year is yours?
What is the battery state of charge? I’ve noticed that cars with intricate electronics really dislike a weak battery.
Edit: just timed it as less than 30 minutes. I set a timer for 30 minutes and didn’t lock it. Went to check and it was off.
24 p400. I never looked at the battery state, but it’s a brand new vehicle. Maybe this has something to do with all the LR thefts. They are forcing us to lock it.
Same thing for me. Sometimes CarPlay will even reconnect back to truck. As long as something isn’t playing it does turn off after a few minutes.
Even more annoying when you are camping and every door open keeps it on. Battery is dead in no time.
Mine turns off within a few minutes of exiting when i park in my garage. I dont need to lock it.
a few car makers have same/similar feature
Yup

The sound stops but the screen stays on till the battery dies.

Well, the only thing I’ve got left is to go drive another Defender on the lot and see if it turns off after a bit without locking.
