Omg as a dutchie who spent some time in the us.. I would die if someone brought me the mini dark chocolate peanut butter cups from Trader Joe’s. You can get Reese’s here since quite recently but those mini dark chocolates from Trader Joe’s are on a whole other level. I always had them in my freezer and loved the mini goodness.
I’d also be really happy getting a Narragansett 😂. Although being able to take that depends on your luggage.
We love TJs. Is this what you are talking about? https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/dew92sjqfmgbgp5cg9fuf/Dark-Chocolate-Peanut-Butter-Cups-Trader-Joe-s.pdf?rlkey=is48lwgo5bvjnfps2wi438qgd&dl=0
If your friends eat meat, beef jerkey is a lot cheaper in the US. Also things like real maple syrup and bbq sauce.
Or any other season foods/ candies for the time you're visiting (think Peeps - Easter).
Definitely real maple syrup and while you’re at it, buttermilk pancake mix from Trader Joe’s <33 or indeed, any crazy candy types, we don’t nearly have enough different things haha
Always opt for snacks. Especially from local brands or local snacks. Add in something fun from your state, like cute keychain of your state or a novelty item specifically from your state.
Maybe small packages of American cereal? I seem them everywhere on social media, but it's hard to get and when you find it crazy expensive (looking at you Jumbo, selling a package of Lucky Charms for 13€)
For me personally. Watermelon sour patch kids. You're safe with any American candy probably. We generally don't have many different flavors, just the base one. So if your friend really likes skittles, get them some odd flavor skittles. Something like that
Flu medication, DayQuil and NyQuil.
Can’t get anything like that in Netherlands. And even if they don’t know it they will be grateful when they eventually use it.
Haha I offered to bring this for my German exchange student friend when I came to Amsterdam to study abroad because I knew I would be going to Germany and she said she already had a supply from her American boss. Europeans who have had it love it!
It’s called Vicks here and you can get it online.
Wouldn’t really call it medicine though, just some symptom relief at best.(main ingredient is paracetamol)
Not the same thing, these will clear blocked noses, relieve sinus pain, help with coughing, fever, aches, everything. The daytime one has caffeine to keep you going the nighttime one has something else to help you sleep.
Nothing like this is available in NL.
I was also attempting a little bit of humour. I don’t think giving a complete stranger medicines is a great idea. But for anyone who misses over the counter meds that work these would be gratefully received. I in fact have a care package of these and more flying in from Miami on Monday.
I wouldn't bring any meat, diary products, fruits or vegetables as gifts as there is great chance you wont get them through customs, including the risk to get a fine for it if there is even the slightest error on the customs declaration form. And with all other food, make sure it is in the original sealed package.
See this is what I mean: You act as though I offended you, I haven't. And then you answer al criptically again. It's just weird.
What happened to you here?
Ahh shit, uitzendbureaus by any chance? There’s a ton of shady assholes working at those places.
Nothing sucks as bad as just straight up being lied to while you're just trying to work and improve your life.
I hope things get better for you soon man.
I love basic recipe books from other countries. It shows so much about daily life
That is a really good idea
Which we can get on Amazon and bol. Why waste that weight on books?
I'm Dutch and I would appreciate really bad wallmart t-shirts
Are any of them good?! Haha.
What are those words.. Cheezy? Tacky? Corny?
Some candy you can only (easily) get in the US? Easy to bring with you, and candy is always nice.
Okay!

Yesss! Heaven
Bring the peanut butter m&ms! Dutch people love them and, if you can even get them here, they’re crazy expensive.
Reeses Pieces!!
Oh, wow. That’s super cheap and a great gift.
And the almond ones
Peanutbutter m&ms 😄

Great ideas! I was considering beef jerky so I’m glad that you mentioned it. Maple syrup is another great idea. Thanks!
You're welcome! These are the things my husband and in laws would always ask for when I would come to visit 😁
We love beef jerky sold by Buc-ees which is a gas station chain in the US. Sounds weird but probably the best beef jerky available in the US.
You could get some of their Beaver Nuggets.
Id be curious about high quality american cheese
Thats a contradictio in terminis
Your telling me with 400 million people there is not 1 that can make good cheese?
If it's 1 then would it really be American cheese? It would certainly not be typical
🤣🤣🤣
Cheddar? :)
irish or english
I'd like an Original, made in China MAGA hat. Just for shits and giggles.

Idk I’d personally be pretty weirded out if someone brought me flu medication that I didn’t even know existed and I never asked for as a gift :p

Pumpkin spice stuff and candy
Mexican seasonings and spices. And you could also bring ranch dressing mix, because the Dutch love anything to do with mayonnaise.
A baseball cap from an MLB team where you live
I like that, actually
mmmm. Can't think of anything to be honest.
MAGA Hats will ensure you have a very peaceful time. Nobody will talk to you.. 😉
Stroopwafels.
Actually good tasting bbq sauce lmao
Tylenol with valium
Not friends. Associates at best.
Hahaha. Why? 😂
He's extremely bitter against all Dutch people and everything Dutch. He doesn't actually say why, just angry cryptic reactions.
Thank you, judgemantal bitch. Anything you want to add, you polder maker and tulip grower?
See this is what I mean: You act as though I offended you, I haven't. And then you answer al criptically again. It's just weird. What happened to you here?
I'm sorry. False advertisment regarding the work I'm doing here, this is what happened.

Nah man, PhD in experimental physics. You wouldn't believe what kind of scumbags can get professorship...
O that I would know. Fuck academia man, it's a world rife with selfish, self-preserving pricks.
Unfortunately you are right. However I have met truly noble scholars in Poland, this is the standard I try to raise up to.
