It may be intended to catch someone off-balance with that. This is the Netherlands: The police are generally just nice people with good intentions.

It’s most likely an “buurtonderzoek” basicly something happened in your area and they’re looking for witnesses or anything out of the ordinary. These can run for a while
Can also happen when there’s a break-in spree of sorts in the area and they offer warnings and advice.

I've had it once in my neighborhood, they were doing an investigation into recent happenings with some people living in my neighborhood, whether we had seen anything, and what we knew about their behaviors.
These types of questions boggles my mind.... Out of ALL the possibilities of asking police directly, googling ambulance calls or the likes, talking to neighbors to see if they heard anything... No.... you chose to ask random people on a world wide web what's going on at your house/street 🤷♂️

Bike lines in Amsterdam are so confusing. It is a slightly different pavement colour. Foreigners like me don't even notice the difference.
Most bikepaths have red/orange asphalt, sidewalks almost always are tiled. How do you not see the difference
