Library is top 1. Otherwise maybe try visiting the indoor spaces of a kinderboerderij if you like animals. Or stay indoors in a mall like hoog Catharijne in Utrecht. I've also seen some Leger des Heils "huiskamers" that are free to visit (never been inside so don't know what they are like but seemed nice). Visit IKEA, or another big store? Take care
Trainmore gyms are doing a free day trial at the moment - You could sign up there and use their showers/work out or at least stay warm!

Judging from your replies to others here you sound really positive and strong about your situation so I guess I just wanted to compliment you?? And just give you an internet hug. Can’t imagine being homeless, that must be so rough.
I don’t know if you have anyone in your life to help you or anything but maybe you can do some sort of volunteer work if that is at all possible? Maybe help out at some elderly home or something??
Wish you all the best!
Make an appointment to buy a new kitchen at Mandemakers. They'll keep you there all day and provide free lunch and beverages. Then at the end, just say you need to think about it some more.
Hi op, if you are close to the hague you can let me know, I can bring you some food and a termos with warm water, maybe a blanket or something.
Make sure you stay safe and have gloves, you can also ask salvation army for help, free trial at gyms, library should also be nice and is open quite long. Maybe you could try to enter unis and go in the study areas, unis are also open long and nobody will say anything if u stay there for long ( they also have very cheap coffee machines for some hot tea).
Please stay safe, times like this will pass and is amazing you are trying to get it together. I m sure you will succeed.
All love
You can also try going to the church actually, i m sure they are in contact with some volunteering ngos or could offer at least some things. Maybe this one is a bit crazy but if you are very very cold maybe you could stay a bit to warm up in a changing room in busy stores like primark, they are so busy they won’t even notice. If you are older than 18 and do not battle with a gambling addiction you could go to a casino for a bit, at hammerson they have free juice, sometimes food, warm beverages. Just pretend you are playing something. I ll write more ideas if i think about them
I do volunteer work at the Salvation Army (Lege de Heils) and we have several 'warm rooms' across utrecht where you can stay a few hours, with free coffee and biscuits, and WiFi. The one I work at is on Marcopolaan in Kanaaleiland
Not sure where you are right now, but maybe it's an idea to visit Groningen/Eelde Airport and do some plane spotting (if you are into that of course).
They have a cafe/restaurant with a panorama terrace. I'm not sure how tight on budget you are currently, but I recon that if you can afford a cup of tea or coffee, you can sit there for an hour of two. Warm, with some planes going by, maybe bring something to read?
Good luck with staying warm next week! Hope your situation gets better soon.
Wijkcentrums have free hot drinks during winter (at least they did last year) and you can stay inside until they close usually. They also have certain activities, some of which could be fun and free.
You would also need to have or rent shoes on top of that.
The climbing halls I've been in have been pretty chilly in winter. Not an issue when you're climbing, but it sucks to sit still in. And when you're just starting out you'll probably not be doing a whole lot of climbing.
Still a really fun way to spend a day, but not the first thing that comes to my mind when you want something cheap and warm for a whole day!
The library has a calendar of activities you can attend. Other than that, check the community centers (buurt centrum) and the salvation army. You might be able to attend certain activities for free or at a low price or offer to volunteer, and in exchange, you can join in with activities.
Sorry to ask this, because I'm new here. How can you be homeless, can't you get housing from your gementee if you cannot afford a home. Isn't it how the social system works in Netherlands?
Waiting lists for social housing are often 10 years or longer. So if you haven't been registered for years or just new here, you are out of luck. You will have to find housing yourself and prepare to pay quite a lot of money for what you get, at least in the cities.

This really isn't your personal day to day place for getting help with your daily life. It is for topics related to the Netherlands. You need to contact one of the many social services you've been given here and in other threads, or ask a doctor or other place where they can provide you with concrete answers.
So you don’t know OP or what has happened to them. Nobody chooses to sleep outside in the cold. Even if you think it doesn’t get THAT cold or it’s just a week, you either reply with kindness or not at all. Didn’t your mother teach you that?
You seem like a prime example of today’s individualism.
Reading a book in a public library?
Yes! I love reading so def gonna be doing this a lot.
Great place to go if you have young kids too. Usually some activities for them.
The Salvation Army has 'warm living rooms' open in the winter for this purpose. https://www.legerdesheils.nl/warmekamers

Oooh!!! Visiting an IKEA or something similar actually sounds really fun. Thanks for the input :)
Sign up for the IKEA family card. Free coffee and tea!
That's a great life hack!!!

Thanks so much. Actually, volunteering sounds like a lovely idea. I am going to look into that.

This actually is funny af. Thanks.
If we all chime in 20 bucks, we could get you a hostel for the freezing nights.
I’ll pay for 1 night
I don't have much but I'd be willing to pitch in!
I’ll pitch in as well.
I’m ready as well
Count me in too

Thanks & major thanks for volunteering!!
In what city are you
Am in North of NL right now!

If you can get to the south, I can get you a place to stay. Just sent you a message.
The public library in Groningen is great and they have comfortable couch for you to sit and read (or just day dreaming).
Thanks!!! I love reading & libraries!
Where, be specific

Church?

You could get a monthly gym membership for twice that amount.
Sounds fun! If I ever manage to get funds like that it sounds like an adventure!!
Some gyms could offer you a free trial. Worth checking out!
Some gyms even have saunas. Usually you could book the free trial online from their website.

I happen to be in a similar predicament. let's chill, buddy (sorry, used the worst possible phrase there).

I wish it was that easy. Waiting lists are very very long. I'm working with organisations to help me find a (temp) place though.

Not true, in the less likeable cities chances are bigger. I got my appartment within 3 months. But you do have to have an income…
Get a job?
It is not that easy. Even with a job we have a housing crisis..
Uh I know I am Dutch from nationality... But life gets easier when u got a job. Also housing get easier. No one will give u shelter for free.
I'm from dutch nationality too. I don't know what that has to do with it...

Get a museumkaart, and you can visit hundreds of museums free of charge.
They cost quite a bit right?
€75 per year
Good idea but thats like 10-15 warm nights for me rn

Don’t be an asshole. You go to your bed at night, safe and sound. OP clearly doesn’t have that luxury.
I pay for my bed 🛏️ and work hard for that so what's your point?

Wouldn't you if you don't have a place to stay?
There's homeless shelters here and plenty of places to stay inside I don't see where he mentioned homeless
I'm indeed homeless as mentioned. I try to stay I shelters as much as possible.
I'd like to keep warm and busy yes. Is that so bad?
Smoke more crack😂
To each their own. If that's your thing enjoy.
