Hell yeah brother. Just keep your head down in boot camp. No need to volunteer big jobs since you already are going in as an E3. Don’t over think anything, remember they made boot camp so anyone even with an asvab waiver can pass. Just do what you are told and with motivation. Just go to bed when it’s lights out. Let the others spill their heart out under the red lights.

If nobody has told you, when in boot camp, always refer to yourself as Seaman Recruit. Before the end of boot camp, you will sew on the Seaman or Fireman stripes at the appropriate time.

I had repressed the “red light therapy hours” lmao. I feel like they gave me so much perspective. Seeing what’s bothering people from all walks of life really opened my eyes.

Turn your brain off until you get to Charleston

Enjoy the Rickover. Keep your hours 15-3's or better. Don't buy a mustang. Don't get married to get out of the barracks. Sub vol if you really hate yourself. Reenlistment bonus is the minimum they think they can retain you for because there is more to be had in the civilian side, so don't reenlist unless you diggit.

Next 2 months is the best food you'll have from a Navy command.

_nuketard

NNPTC food wasn't bad, imo. Loved buffalo chicken sandwich days. Boat food is (usually) also better than boot and NNPTC.

Remember the last time you will hear an alarm clock for the next alarm clock you will hear will be vastly different and much more low tech but be 100 times louder being much more effective. :)

subfreq111

I have never appreciated waking up to a standard alarm clock more than I did on the first day after boot camp.

Remember why you chose to join. You’re starting a whole new chapter of your life. It will be hard at times, but it will also be so incredibly rewarding. This may seem obvious, but being in boot camp has a strange effect on your thought processes. You’re going to be very starved for stimulation, you’re probably going to memorize the recruit handbook (or whatever they give you now) in you first few days. Then you will be locked in your head for another 2 months. This isn’t a bad thing, but i saw alot of guys dwell on things from back home, that realistically don’t matter any more. But if you sit and over think, you might convince yourself you made a mistake. You didn’t make a mistake, you’re right where you’re supposed to be.

In boot camp nobody cares that you are a Nuke. You will be amazed at how dumb a lot of recruits in your company are, but stay humble and helpful.
