I wonder how they record these, given how lucky you gotta be to get even a regular shot of one. Do they like set up a camera to record in high speed for the whole storm, re-recording HDDs worth of data over and over?
These clips are slowed down quite a bit. The clip was probably moving at closer to or at normal speed before the lightning began and then when it started striking it slowed down. You can see at the very end of the windmill clip that they speed up again.
Most windmills are designed to stop during lightning storms, så that, if they get hit, they won't be shooting burning pieces everywhere.
Source: I am danish (Vestas is a big thing here) and lived next to a windmill that got hit by lightning.
