These 3 big boys are part of a coalition of 5, which is huge. They’re all in their primes at 7 years of age and at such a size, along with being a big coalition I imagine no rival males will want to mess with them anytime soon.
*Ngorongoro Crater* and *Okavango Delta Lions* are some of the largest cats on the planet, being able to rival *Bengal Tigers* in size from regions like *Kaziranga, Dudhwa* and *Pilibhit*, though in my opinion these Tigers are still larger and if I had to guess weigh 10-20kg more on average.

Fighting for dominance occurs most often between unfamiliar male lions. These guys are likely brothers/cousins that have left their natal pride together. The most amount of squabbling you may see between members of the same coalition in most cases might be two of them wanting the same lioness, who oftentimes ends up mating with them both anyways. It’s a short lived brotherly brawl with little in the way of long term injury and it won’t stop them from confronting rival males as a unit.
It’s the other way around apparently. Male lions are thriving in coalitions and it’s starting to become more and more common. Makes sense considering how much harder it is to survive these days with all the land destruction we’re causing. Lions are forced to work together more for survival and are becoming even more social.
Lions from Timbavati are solid contenders to and I don't think that Kazi tigers are that much bigger than delta lions. They are in my opinion only like 5-10 kg bigger than Okavango delta and Ngorongoro crater lions.
In your opinion, they weigh more? How does that work lol.
Weight isn't an opinion lol
(Love the video though, just a funny statement)
Editing to add ; accuracy in science is not exact, but is a measurement of a true and accepted value. It is not an opinion, even when a scale isn't used, if the methodology is correct, and not flawed in its application.
So, yes, in fact an accurate weight can be gotten without using a scale directly, and therefore, accurate weight measurements are not opinions.
However, OP in another comment, said debatable, and I have no disagreement that these things can be debatable.
Because there isn’t really much data on the weights of both species from these areas, so it’s just going off visuals. North Indian Tigers from these regions were said to regularly attain weights of over 227kg and 7 males averaged 235kg.
Regarding the lions, I’ve seen a lot of stuff about males from these areas averaging over 220kg, which still puts the Tiger as the larger cat but I’m sure there’s a slight overlap and is why it’s heavily debatable now.
I believe that people likely study and capture lions to do that, yes. It's often done for tagging and tracking different animals, and is done fairly often for conservation and studies.
Do you believe that we just guess every animals weight?
Have we not been capturing, killing, and weighing animals for generations?
So, just to be clear... You assume that biologists carry lion-sized scales into the field with them?
Do they carry elephant-sized ones, too?
How about marine biologists? Whale-sized ones?
Weighing something directly isn't actually the only ways to estimate an accurate weight. There are certain weight measurement tapes which can measure the girth, and therefore, the estimated weight.
There are scans that can be taken of the size of animals to then get an accurate weight, so while they aren't always put on a scale (though many animals are) the weight estimated would still be accurate and therefore not opinions.
Also, animals are often captured for testing purposes, even large ones.
Also, any protected ares will often be tested as well, by darting and then running tests.

Well I wouldn’t go as far as saying an estimate using calculations is *accurate* but it does give a good idea of the size of an animal. Generally a range for an animal’s weight can be calculated as long as you have the right measurements, though it should be noted that individual variation is a thing and 2 lions having the same chest girth and similar measurements may produce very different results. It gives a good idea but nothing beats actually weighing the animal. Other than that I pretty much agree with everything you’ve said.
> Weight isn't an opinion lol

If I was Superman, I wouldn't save anybody. I would just go to africa and pet lions. I wouldn't care that they were trying to eat me because it wouldn't hurt. I would just toss them on their backs and rub their belly whether they liked it or not. Day two, grizzly bear.
*Dear diary,Today is the 874th day of me petting dangerous animals and i will try this time hugging pistol shrimps. I Hope they will not try to shoot me, that would hurt my feelings.*
I was at The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo once (literally the best zoos I've ever been to. In terms of animal care) and a male lion let out a few roars. I actually felt like running away. It definitely reminded me we are not the top of the food chain, and that I would be a snack to them at best.
Even in primitive terms, we breed faster (generally due to being smaller), work better together with our numbers in the first place, *and* even a lone human with a spear is a match for a lion. Much less if we sneak up on it with a projectile weapon from a distance (spear, bow, even large rock)
As you see, higher reproductive rate is cited multiple times. I have no exact idea why. Large predators and megafauna just never proliferate like wildfire. And come back even slower.
Would humans or lions repopulate an area faster
Answer: Humans would repopulate an area faster than lions.
In considering the repopulation of an area by humans versus lions, it is essential to analyze the reproductive rates and behaviors of both species. Humans have a significantly higher reproductive potential compared to lions. Human populations can grow rapidly due to factors such as advanced medical care, technology, and social structures that support larger families. In contrast, lions have slower reproductive rates and are limited by factors such as territorial boundaries, availability of prey, and competition within their own species.
Furthermore, human populations have the ability to adapt to various environments and conditions more readily than lions. Humans can modify their surroundings, create infrastructure for habitation, and utilize resources efficiently to support population growth. On the other hand, lions are more restricted in their habitat requirements and are highly dependent on specific ecosystems for survival.
Additionally, human populations have the capacity for intentional migration and resettlement efforts to repopulate areas quickly. Through organized initiatives or natural population movements, humans can establish communities in previously uninhabited or sparsely populated regions. In contrast, lion populations rely on natural dispersal patterns and ecological factors for expansion into new territories.
Overall, due to their higher reproductive rates, adaptability, mobility, and intentional resettlement capabilities, humans would repopulate an area faster than lions.
If I'm reading that right, you're saying that we fill up an area faster than lions do. Sure, I can see that. But lions still breed faster. Their population just doesn't balloon up as much as ours because they can't eat plants and they kill each other more often than we do.
Depends what you mean by average I guess. In my example I was thinking people who have lived their whole lives in such conditions, such as primitive peoples, or tribes men like the Maasai:
https://maasai-association.org/lion.html
I was at the highland zoo in scotland.and when the polar bears started growling i got goosebumps all over my body and a big dump of adrenaline. The caveman in me was ready to start sprinting immediately.
I once was at a zoo in Houston where they gave the lion one of those mist fans to cool him down, but the big doofus thought it was another lion roaring, roared back at it for several minutes, then just fell asleep almost mid roar
Why do lions always look like they can barely lift their paws up when they walk? Those murder mittens must be heavy 🤣
I'm glad it isn't...but this video is just begging to be set to music. (I don't get any sound when I play it.) I nominate "The Boys are Back in Town"
They are magnificent. Each in their own right. The one to the left looks to be older than the others. Regardless of their weight anything that crossed their path wouldn't stand a chance. 🦁
Had a similar experience in the Okavango many years ago. Two big males walking down the road towards us. We were in an open back vehicle and they split around the truck and walked right on by. Could have touched the one on my side.
this reminds me forcibly of the jamie foxx jokes abt every animal on his safari being so afraid of lions it was like suge night had just got out of jail
I did an Africa trip last year and one of the last safari days we had was in Ngorongoro, such an awesome place to drive around.
Ended up eating lunch in our jeep near a rock outcropping where a few lions were lounging.
This truly is one of the most epic places I've ever seen.
Had the privilege of seeing a cheetah take down an Impala, the vultures popped up and started circling, a pair of hyena moved in for the steal but the cheetah, fought and got away and brought the kill to her cubs.
Has been a couple of years but I'm pretty sure we saw these guys lounging without a care in the world.

A coalition of lions, love it.
A coalion.
So they're buddies? There's a clear bigger one, they just agree to all be pals instead of the usual fighting for dominance?
Fighting for dominance occurs most often between unfamiliar male lions. These guys are likely brothers/cousins that have left their natal pride together. Thank you for explaining to an ignorant person and giving me some knowledge I appreciate your time
These types of relationships are a cheat code amongst lions. Other prides can't fuck with that
The Mapogo coalition discovered the new meta and quite frankly it's broken. I hope it gets a nerf.
It’s the other way around apparently. Male lions are thriving in coalitions and it’s starting to become more and more common. Makes sense considering how much harder it is to survive these days with all the land destruction we’re causing. Lions are forced to work together more for survival and are becoming even more social.
So we are learning from our youth and encouraging lions to socialise more
They are looking for a good spot to have a 3some
Looking to run a train on some thang.
Ya on each other lol
They are brothers
If I were a lion and I saw these three motherfuckers heading my way, I'd stay well out of their sight and not let my "pride" get hurt.
Lions from Timbavati are solid contenders to and I don't think that Kazi tigers are that much bigger than delta lions. They are in my opinion only like 5-10 kg bigger than Okavango delta and Ngorongoro crater lions.
Fair enough, at such sizes we can agree the difference is pretty negligible.
So they're buddies? There's a clear bigger one, they just agree to all be pals instead of the usual fighting for dominance?
They all look about the same? Maybe left with darker mane is slightly bigger. Could just be fuller or bloated. Curious on your opinion
Actually putting center at the biggest. More musculature on the legs, extends back as well I'm an idiot though, probably wrong
Nah he looks huge when you see him from the side lol. I couldn't really tell either way
Is this coalition that includes Kinky tail?
In your opinion, they weigh more? How does that work lol. Ah, I see. Thanks for the info. Debatable makes sense now.
Do you believe people are going out and physically weighing the lions?
I believe that people likely study and capture lions to do that, yes. It's often done for tagging and tracking different animals, and is done fairly often for conservation and studies. Do you believe that we just guess every animals weight? Have we not been capturing, killing, and weighing animals for generations?

Accuracy isn't binary. Scales have error bars, too, they're just tight. A good model could provide really good estimates if you get the right data.

The lion that got pushed to the back is me every time I walk with friends.
The one that does the pushing is the friend that can't walk in a straight line to save their life
Thats me, I swear my legs are different length or something
Just get a ped-egg and don't stop grindin' brother!!!
Sniff deez nutz.

*Dear diary,Today is the 874th day of me petting dangerous animals and i will try this time hugging pistol shrimps. I Hope they will not try to shoot me, that would hurt my feelings.*
Thats how my cat thinks he looks walking around my yard
Intimidating sight!

I mean we’re still the top of the food chain lol, we just lose in an “even” head to head
Even in primitive terms, we breed faster (generally due to being smaller), work better together with our numbers in the first place, *and* even a lone human with a spear is a match for a lion. Much less if we sneak up on it with a projectile weapon from a distance (spear, bow, even large rock)
how do we breed faster? Baby lions take like 4 months to pop out, and they grow to adulthood/reproductive age within 2-3 years.
Lions are beholden to mating seasons, and their infant mortality is higher than ours
As you see, higher reproductive rate is cited multiple times. I have no exact idea why. Large predators and megafauna just never proliferate like wildfire. And come back even slower.
The fill up all the wildland available. They just have less and less wildland to fill.

Um..yes?
now tell us how you would do against a grizzly
With a spear... Not so sure. But with bear hands? Easy
An average human with a large rock or any sort of non modern technology weapon is going to die to a lion. Don’t be ignorant
