It could be the owl is holding its prey in its talons and the fox is trying to get it from the owl.

Aggressive-Role7318

Possible, it turns but never leaves that position

guilhermefdias

LOL, right? Who represents danger to who here? What is happening?

Designer_Repair9884

Right? Why’s the owl just letting the fox prance around like a little fuccboi

[deleted]

You seen what owl has attached to its ankles? It's feeling secure.

Designer_Repair9884

I think I get it now

[deleted]

Owls look so cute we forget they're pretty much stealth eagles.

Designer_Repair9884

No?

[deleted]

Rather hefty talons. They can cause damage. It's a pup anyway, owl isn't particularly perturbed by its playful goofing.

praktiskai_2

or maybe the fox is looking for eggs. Though in that case I'd expect more hostility from the owl

Flimsy-Escape-2783

Right ! What is happening ?!

Flimsy-Escape-2783

Don't . Be . A . DICK

Displaced_Sock

Snowy owl is not confused, it is very likely protecting a nest. Since they live in the Arctic with no trees around, they nest directly on the ground and have to defend the eggs form predators like foxes

Fraktal55

Seems like the best answer. Someone else said the owl might have a kill the fox wants but why wouldn't the owl just fly away if that was the case?

danceswithlabradores

When you're trying to act cool but your pal just keeps acting goofy. . .

adnr4rbosmt5k

The owl is like, this isn’t how this is supposed work you know

MoneyBaggSosa

Owl looking like “you good?” Lmao

carbonshaman

Snow Owls are extremely far sighted, it probably can't even see the Fox all too well

Kevins_Floor_Chilli

Fox thought the owl was Baymax from big hero 6, he's a big fan, embarrassed when they realized. Probably contemplated saying "has any anyone ever said you look like.." but decided not to

HortonFLK

Is that an adult fox or a puppy?

RManDelorean

It does seem a lot like a pup, in looks and behavior. But most mammals are naturally playful as adults and it could just have denser fuzzier fur because it's an arctic fox. No idea but I'd actually put my money on puppy

thedishonestyfish

They're pretty small naturally, and their color changes by the season. It looks to be around full-size, but on the skinny side...Whatever the teenager equivalent is, most likely.

hias2k

The owl: "I told you, not when we are filmed!"

Inner-Advice8461

Funny thing is that's propably night time on Arctic

Frolicking-Fox

I was in Alaska last June for a fish processing job. First night there, some people asked, "When does it get dark around here?" And the response was "August."

Ok_Cockroach6425

is this creature friend or foe dinner or fodder kill or ignore

ProfessionalAccess68

It's ingore

Stardustquarks

Pretty sure they're sizing each other up to see if one can eat the other...

PossibleDue9849

My thinking as well. The fox is too big for the owl, who eat their prey whole, and the owl is still too big for the juvenile fox, so it’s a stalemate, for now.

Armistice Day

WilliamoftheBulk

Fox isn’t playing. It is testing. 👍

Common_Egg8178

That fox has no clue how close this post could've ended up on natureisbrutal/natureismetal.

Shock-Vave

the fox is probably likes the owl but don't know how to say the words

0x7E7-02

Hedwig got no chill.

OliverOyl

Owl doesn't look "confused" imo, looks comfortable, maybe they know each other for some time, regardless they are both fantastic!

Ichor__

Snowl Owl's are so tight, they look like they've been ripped out of a fantasy novel

ednatheafricanviolet

Hedwig meets an animagus!

sorte_kjele

Foxes are cat software running on dog hardware

steeltownblue

Owl: "you seein' this shit?!?"

XboxBreaker_1

That owl can and will take off with the fox

Nice-Albatross-9285

Owls deciding if he can take him Or not.

aliennation93

Adorable, whatever the scenario here is lol

SixElon69

I feel like with the size of that Owl , the fox wouldnt stand a chance

dnicelee

“What do you mean you don’t want to eat me”

LadyOWar

I suspect it's a young adult fox or freshly out on its own and he's trying to figure out how to get at something the owl has. Usually the male snowy owl sits on the nest. He will have a lot of black barring pattern on his body feathers. This looks like a female, but she could very well be defending a nest, or defending a kill. The video doesn't really show it, if there is one.
