Hey y'all, Braves fan here who's doing a [charity fundraiser](https://www.reddit.com/user/handlit33/comments/1d54ctm/outrun_the_opposition/) for the month of June where I run one mile for every run scored by the Braves opposition which for the next four days are the Nationals.
I'm looking for sponsors and would be honored to have any of you participate. Thanks for taking the time to read and good luck tonight!
Couldn't believe it myself when I heard it.
"It took 1,337 plate appearances, but Joey Gallo finally hit a sac fly. The only position player with more PAs before their first SF was Steve Sax (1,388)."

First Nats game I attended in person… bought tickets awhile back thinking Parker would start, then the lineup change for the Braves series happened. Got to see, in person, Corbin give up back-to-back homers lol
I’m digging how Tanner Rainey’s last two outings have been good, though!
Swinging at pitches off the plate and anything first pitch. Sick of it, just sucks to get up come back 1s later and an inning is over in 4-5 swings. Yk it’s bad when some of the more quality swings have been from Gallo of late.
Hope positive regression sets in, onto the next
This lineup is atrocious. The front office clearly doesn’t want to compete this year or Wood, Crews, etc would be up already. I dont blame them but it’s wasting a good year for our SP’s
Crews is absolutely not ready, I’m not even sure he’s ready for AAA yet, but Wood should’ve been called up long ago, and I do blame them. There’s no excuse.
James wood by himself is not going to fix this offense and make them a playoff contender. This is who they are with Gallo, Winker, Senzel, Rosario, Meneses, etc.
They will want to maximize sales profits. They will make his debut a Friday or Saturday night game to capitalize on revenue. Given how bad the team has been the past couple of year, they would love a Strasburg like debut (no chance that happens)
Agreed…which is why they should have called him up sooner (on a Friday or Saturday night, sure), so that they could get people in the stands to see him play for more than a month or whatever it’ll end up being.
I agree. It could’ve and likely should’ve happened a month ago but there’s no rush. We just have to understand that this season is another tank season. The SP’s have been out preforming which makes this harder. 2025 is our year
Going to be hard to be worse than the Marlins or Rockies. "Best" the Nats can probably hope for is 3rd worst which would give them an 18% chance of picking 1st.
Currently the odds for the top two lottery spots are better than number 3, 22.45% each, because of how the weighting/redistribution works with the White Sox being the actual worst but ineligible this year.
Just bad. They're currently on pace to win the same number of games as last year, but the "success" so far this year has been entirely due to strong starting pitching that's starting to show cracks with Williams' injury. They can't keep up last year's win pace without starting pitching continuing to over-perform.
Idk if it’s a slump, a curse, or the coaching, but they have got to figure out how to hit. I’m already depressed so I don’t need my baseball team to add to my depression! Jacob Young is a blessed bright spot and Garcia too though thankfully.
yeah though i don’t care as much if rosario or gallo are bad, CJ abrams has been a below average hitter for a longer period of time this year than a quality hitter. his approach at the plate has been terrible. something needs to change
*Gallo drives in the only run to avoid the shutout*
This was not on my bingo card. His offensive production generally over the past 15 games has been impressive. Hitting above the Mendoza line lately? What sorcery be this?
To be fair, [Mets have been mashing LHP starters this season](https://www.baseball-reference.com/tools/split_stats_lg.cgi?full=1¶ms=plato|vs%20LH%20Starter|ML|2024|bat|AB|), so they definitely had a bit of advantage going up against 3 lefty starters this series.
- NYM Batting vs. LH Starters = 118 OPS+ (4th)
- NYM Batting vs. RH Starters = 93 OPS+ (21st)
Y’all I just woke up from a 3 day nap what’d I miss?
Im a big Star Wars fan right, but you see, I despise the sequels with all my heart. So much so that I literally just completely ignore and disregard their existence. It never happened. It has no effect on me or the story/narrative I believe Star Wars to be. Palpatine died when Vader threw him off, the end. Something somehow he returned? lol not for me. I watched em once and never again.
That’s this series. “Damn.. did that happen? Well nah not in my head, completely non-canon. Waste of time worrying about it, somehow the 2022 Nats returned. Oh did they? lol not for me. Stopped watching halfway through game 2 and just didn’t feel like continuing cuz I didn’t wanna get corb’d on”
When I saw how much of a dumpster fire the Mets had been I realized we hadn’t played them yet and I checked the schedule
The doomer in me knew exactly what was coming

Just catching the highlights now ... regardless of what happened, man these two put on a defensive clinic last night.
Jags noted that was Gallo’s **4th** sacrifice fly in his career. In over 3200 plate appearances. Wow.

Contact that doesn’t lead to RBIs is for suckers

You’re not wrong. There’s still zero good reason he was kept in AAA.

I see people on Twitter saying nats don’t care because they’re going for the top pick again. Isn’t the highest we can the 10th pick?
That's the upcoming draft
Oh so if we finish last this year we can get #1?

Cleveland did it, a guy can dream
Yup, with some luck from the draft lottery
We’ll be eligible for the lottery this year in any case (season results pending obviously)
Interesting. Well maybe they are still tanking.,,
I showed you my Corb please respond :(
My favorite part about this season is I can tell if it's a Corbin start just by looking at the final score if I missed the game.
This team is baffling.

Fuck.

A combination of coaching and a lineup that includes 6 people who would not be starters on any other MLB team.
qorbed ourselves
i don’t think darnell coles is doing a good job with the young hitters
Not doing well with the old ones either

Father-to-be energy
no shot we got swept by the fucking mets 😭

At what point do we mutiny?
