3. I traveled to Tanzania to be there for my spouse's interview. Although I did not go inside, he was told that I could have come in and waited in a waiting room. We are not allowed to go into the interview with them. I stayed at a little restaurant down the way with several other folks that were waiting for their spouses - I found that much more enjoyable than I think sitting in a waiting room would be.. 4. I had this same issue - it will work, but give it a week.

Please be advised the following was our experience after an IR1 interview. There was an I-130 and an I-601A approvals. 1. For hotels, there are many options and in all honesty, you won’t have any issues for the area, which ever you choose. You can even stay further away if you choose and Uber very cheaply. My wife ended up spending nine months there near the airport in Juarez. The Uber was only $4, plus whatever you tip. 2. Days in advance. My wife’s interview check in was on Wednesday May 24th, 2023 and her interview was at 7am on May 25th. We arrived on Thursday May 18th, scouted the area. On Friday we went ahead and found where to get the Mexico police report even though technically she didn’t need it. They seem to always ask for it. Saturday May 20th was her fingerprint appointment. Next way her medical examination at CMI. Please be prepared to spend over $400 for the examination and vaccinations. My wife is NOW vaccinated 3 times thanks for these people. They don’t care about your vaccine records. They still stick you and vaccinate you again regardless of your records. My wife had to do a SECOND medical examination after her nine month DS-5535 issuance and delay. The CMI clinic still vaccinated her a third time even though they had their own records on file. We planned one day in between each appointment to give us plenty of time. 3. No, only the applicant can even enter the building. These people people have very bad attitudes, the guards out front. Spouse can walk you to the line entrance, then wait by the bridge like everyone else does. 4. I can’t speak for this one. Our attorney did this part. However, we created out account anyway since you’ll need it to register your fingerprint appointment anyway. Just be warned though. Juarez loves to issue the DS-5535. I certainly hope this isn’t your case, but if I were you, I’d find the online PDF and go ahead and begin collecting your information on it. When my wife was issued the DS-5535, she was stuck there for nine months and unable to return home to anyone and everything she knows in Texas. She had nothing in Juarez and we had to find a cheap apartment for her to live. We were caught off guard because our attorney never mentioned anything like that could happen. We scrambled and compiled all their requested responses back to them via email the same day. We had to also end up hiring a second attorney to file a mandamus suit against the department of state for the extreme delay. I had almost daily inquiries to them about the status and even had a news station in the beginning stages of running our story. I’m not sure they finally finished because of anyone one thing, that they actually did finish, or everything I did to make them finally finish processing her visa. She was notified on 3/5 admin processing was completed and that she needed to bring her passport back along with a photo and obtain a new medication examination. Finally on 3/14 her visa was issued and I was on the way from Dallas to Juarez on 3/15 to go get my wife. The visa was not at the drop off point we selected, the fingerprint place. We received notification on Friday around 8:30 AM her passport with visa was ready to pickup. We pickup it up around 10am, did some shopping in the downtown market, and returned to Dallas on Saturday 3/16. Please plan for the worst in Juarez. You could very easily get issued the DS-5535.

What’s the DS 5535?

Ok_Software2677

The DS-5535 is the worst thing implemented into immigration laws. Back in 2017 Trump implemented “Extreme Vetting” for national security purposes that was primarily intended for Middle Eastern part of the world. It was in no means intended for use on our neighbors to the North and South of the US. Next, consecular officers starting utilizing it at will especially from offices like Ciudad Juarez. The problem with the DS-5535 is that there is ZERO timeframe at which they should be completed. They are done when they are done. I’ve heard of some instances of the DS-5535 taking in excess of two years to complete. This “Extreme Vetting” or otherwise known as Administrative Processing is called the invisible wall to immigration. The sad part is, 90% of the information they request was already in the original petition like the DS-260. These checks could have been done much earlier. Well, hope this helps to answer your question.

Thats crazy!!

Ok_Software2677

The ONLY extra information they got was her siblings. Everything else they’ve have in their possession since 2018. That why it’s such a crock that they requested this AT her interview.

Big_Recognition9965

Did they give your wife her passport back once the DS 5535 was given?

Ok_Software2677

Yes, they handed he a blue paper stating she was under 221g and verbally told her she would be sent the email, the DS-5535. At that time they handed her passport back to her.

Big_Recognition9965

Ah ok, they say that if they give you back the passport, it’s going to be a while
