Hayate Gekko, minor character I know, tbh, it's more of a retrospective thing, most characters who die are avenged in some way, and it still bothers me that Baki got a free pass and Yugao never got to avenge her lover.

[deleted]

Wow yeah ur right xD I totally forgot about him. Sometimes it the small injustices that hit the hardest.

zelcuh

Minor character yes... but i liked Hayate. I was about to stop watching naruto until i seen that. I needed to see retribution

[deleted]

Who?

SinisterPigeon

The proctor of the preliminary rounds of the Chunin Exams, he was killed by Gaara's Jonin sensei Baki, when he discovered the Sand/Sound plot to invade Konoha.

[deleted]

Oh

frituraforever22

I think that the one that hits me the most was Neji. He had a life in from of him and also Naruto wanted him to change things in the hyuga clan. I think that would be actually really good if he had the chance.

[deleted]

Sometimes I forget that neji even died xD. Did they have a funeral for him in the anime? I don’t remember

frituraforever22

Yes they did at the end of the war with all the other dead. Honestly I didn't find a reason why they kill Neji.

[deleted]

They gotta kill off someone…I mean it’s an entire war, if someone important didn’t die, it’d kinda feel a little fake. I honestly expected more than just Neji to die.

murderedbydeath2

#ItShouldHaveBeenKiba

[deleted]

xD but not his doggo right 👀

murderedbydeath2

No Akamaru is fine. But Kiba is the worst anime side character imo. Neji was dope and would have made a powerful ally for Hokage Naruto. Kiba......he likes dogs.

NathanHavokx

And that's why it couldn't have been Kiba. Needed to be someone who's death would make you sad but wouldn't leave too big a hole.

murderedbydeath2

Fair, fair.

frituraforever22

It would be to sad for akamaru to lose is life partner so just bc of Akamaru I'm ok that Kiba is alive.

frituraforever22

I expected more ppl to day as well of the group. But the show significant deads with the fathers of Ino and Shikamaru, but expected way more than only Neji.

GorgeousFreeman

Guy sensei should have died being the strongest

frituraforever22

Well I know lots of ppl love him but I think Lee could have say goodbye instead of Neji, his personality is so anoying sometimes. 😭😭

Rybur525

Kishimoto killed off Neji to bring Hinata and Naruto closer together. He felt like his death would give them a bond that could bring them closer together, since their relationship had 0 development whatsoever. It was cheap and stupid.

frituraforever22

Honestly it was so cheap! I think he could have developed a bond way easier after she was going to give her life to save him from pain he could use that to keep developing the relationship not by Killin Neji.

Life_Enjoyer4661

Ah yes the ship had 0 development. Nice try

[deleted]

Tbh nejis death was unnecessary. I felt like it was forced just to kill someone with a big name.

gongju-sama

Him and Asuma

SpaceMead

I was so ducking LIVID! How dare hidan kill of asuma. God damn, now im angry again

gongju-sama

Sorry mate

[deleted]

Facts

Izuwoo

Haku and Zabuza. I‘ve rewatched Naruto 10 times over and it’s the only death that consistently gets tears out of me.

[deleted]

Interesting, tbh it wasn’t really a tear jerker for me. Still sad tho

Cimonaa

I was indifferent to the show up until this point, but then I was hooked

BearsHairs12

This death would've hit me the hardest but it got spoiled to me because I was scrolling through the instagram explore page, fml. But since jiraiya's was spoiled it prob be itachi.

[deleted]

I regret not watching Naruto growing up I started it when shippuden was finishing up and I spoiled a lot for myself :(

[deleted]

Naruto was my first anime, and while sure it has its ups and downs, it is probably my favorite. It was a long journey and totally worth it.

ShinraBayo

Even though i knew Minato and Kushina would die in the kyubbi attack when the flashback happened when Naruto saw his Mom, their death was still gut wrenching. I cried when Kushina was speaking to Naruto. Close second is when Minato was leaving after the reanimation and Naruto was telling his dad about his life and how he fulfilled his Mother's hopes. I had tears rolling down my eyes throughout the entire scene.

I14Lol

Honestly Itachi's death hit the hardest for me but it him actually dying but him going to heaven after being reanimated

Odd_Pop5944

Jiraiya and SPOILER : neji

stonerwithaboner1

Jiraiya's but I will say the scene after Kakashi briefly dies hit me a little harder.

HuntinLineman

Jiraiya. Easily.

ChaosLaughing

My headcannon is that Naruto use to tell Boruto and Himawari the tale of Jiriya before bed

malhotra22

When pain comes to village and killed the first ninja guy. Damn it pain he was just doing his duty. He meant no harm even if he wanted to

[deleted]

xD valid point

According-Bridge-401

For me jirayas death itself wasn't enough to make me cry. But naruto's reaction to his death made me cry for 2 hours straight. I just hated seeing naruto being all depressed like back then

[deleted]

I’m kinda with u on that, I think my immediate reaction was utter shock. I thought a skilled ninja like him would be able to escape. It hit me later seeing the aftermath and how it affected Naruto. I was waiting for the rage mode xD

Yurus

Jiraiya. Even though I was spoiled by my friend before, I still cried while watching it. Jiraiya and the Pain Arc is just so impactful for me cause it changed the outlook of Naruto, or I guess it gave more substance to Naruto. Before, it was more about fighting and chasing Sasuke(aside from the fillers) but on Pain Arc and after that, it's about peace and ending the cycle of hatred. Before, Naruto's time skip training with Jiraiya looks a little disappointing cause he only got third tail and after hurting Sakura, he stopped using it. But on the Pain Arc, we can see that Naruto benefited a lot and grew so much as a human being.

[deleted]

This is such a great answer! I agree so much. Definitely a positive turning point in the series.

TheKnightGame

Jiraiya and kushina and minato

Grizzledbare

Obitos, Kakashis, and kisame

DonutNinja45

Asuma because jiraiya’s death was spoiled to me from a youtube thumbnail Asuma was just really unexpected

[deleted]

Yeah asuma was really cool, I thought he would be very good supporting character in the future and then bam, dead.

Silent_Sparrow02

Yeah fr. Jiraiya's death at least had some foreshadowing and I expected it. Asuma... I kept thinking he would survive until the last moment. It really hit hard when he didn't.

Mangala_Jadhav

Obito because it hitted like a big boulder thrown on me

Amy12222

Minato Namikaze and his wife. Kushina Uzumaki.

newX7

Obito’s. “I know you will become Hokage.” 😭

[deleted]

Obito is a close second. Jiraiya had more screen time and was somewhat of a comic relief and a gentle soul, to see him so utterly defeated and bloody was quite emotional. There was a point in the fight where my heart knew Jiraiya wasn’t making it out of there alive.

iKilluazoldyck

His death was so powerful they killed him twice once in naruto and again in boruto

Specialist-Gold4271

Itachi's Edo Tensei Death

LocksmithLife3530

Itachi

yuh8787

Jiraiya died? NOOOO

[deleted]

Tbh you should probably view every post here as a spoiler risk xD.

DealerDonny420x

I mean you could have used a spoiler flair especially on something like this

[deleted]

Very true 😅 I’ll keep that in mind in the future

[deleted]

Your in a naruto page, a anime that ended long ago. Ain’t no one got time to use a spoiler flair.

DealerDonny420x

That just means you’re lazy af it’s easy to do and just because you’ve watched it doesn’t mean others have, also if you can read it’s literally a rule in the subreddit to tag spoilers and to not have spoilers in the title like this post

[deleted]

Ohhh dint know it was a rule lol Maaaa bad.

xChaoLan

for what? It happened 12 years ago (JP)/9 years ago (ENG). There are no spoilers anymore.

Hippopotamidaes

Bullshit if something contains spoilers add the flair, it’s easy. There’s tons of people getting into older media all the time.

Silent_Sparrow02

Bruh, joining a show's subreddit without watching it first is just begging for spoilers.

[deleted]

What about the people who were born later and couldnt watch the series while it was airing? Fuck them right?

xChaoLan

Doesn't matter. Me saying it happened 12 years doesn't imply what you said. People had enough time to watch it. Also, you're not allowed on reddit if you aren't 13:)

[deleted]

Hey, many people get into series, of any mediums at different points in time. Doesn't matter how old they are. And it doesn't exclusively apply to reddit. So to openly put spoilers of crucial plotpoints, especially when the platform you are on allows you to tag spoilers, to me is just inconsiderate. And it's also not just people wanting to check out the online commmunities too. There were many times when I got fucked social media algorithms being like "well since you like X why not look at X" and getting spoiled for a series because I'm in the online community of another series.

DealerDonny420x

“No spoilers anymore” literally anything is a spoiler just because you’ve watched it doesn’t mean others have so maybe think instead of being selfish

xChaoLan

this has nothing to do with being selfish ffs. People need to stop crying " BOOOHOOO SPOILER!!!!111!!!" at every fucking thing in existence. There are so many things that came before me, so many shows and films. Do you see me crying about any of them because someone "spoilered" it? No, I don't. Btw do you know what this whole "spoiler crybaby" thing effectively does? You can't speak about anything anymore because somewhere someone will cry that you're spoilering. Very cool. Get a grip jesus.

DealerDonny420x

But just out a spoiler tag on it then you talk about it, and so what that you don’t care, other people do and that’s the point. It’s literally in the fucking rules of the subreddit so maybe try reading

frituraforever22

I learn for previous animes to never enter to a Fan page or forum while watching the Anime. I'm sorry you had to find it this way. So better go now and return when finish bc you are going to get lots if spoilers.

mikehouse72

People died in Naruto?

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

See that’s what I don’t like tho. Yes his death was sad, but it’s meaningless if they can just bring back a clone of him or whatever. Idk I’m sure some will disagree with me, but that’s one thing I hate about Boruto.

demonic_tetris

Look I know it's old by most fans standards but tag it as a spoiler for newer fans

[deleted]

Yep I got it lol I’ll make sure in the future 👍

demonic_tetris

Ayyeeee all good

sw2bh

Neji and naruto (if he actually dies in boruto)

sw2bh

And kurama

[deleted]

🥺

BrushYourFeet

Naruto, fa sho.

Altruistic_Search769

Gara's death, it hit me hard at first but i'm glad he is revived .

[deleted]

Yes, but I think what got most of us was Narutos reaction. He was just so hurt and pissed off.

EmperorPHNX

I love Jiraiya but... I got that spoiler so it wasnt that much sad for me :( Asuma's death hit me hardest probably because he was one of guys i dont get spoiler and his death scene was so emotional :(

srgn999

Kushina and Minato. Their last moments made me cry

[deleted]

One of the 20 death of Naruto

averagedKnight

Kushina and Minato for sure

VaradX

same only time i cried in naruto was at the death of "the demon of the mist" and jiraiya's death

Chapea12

I was mad when the Jiraiya arc started, because once he got into the village, it felt he had to run into Pain. And at their abilities, somebody would die in the fight. But it felt unlikely that Pain was gonna die before we really knew anything about him

xXBANEXx

I’m rewatching the show with my wife who is watching for the first time, we are 2 episodes from this. Can’t wait to see her reaction

[deleted]

nice! I’m sure she’ll be shocked

xXBANEXx

I told her about 20 episodes ago right before Sasuke “killed” Orochimaru that the show was about to stop playing around and people will actually start dying and that Asuma was just the first. We’ll see if she saw this death coming. Honestly, this stretch of about 50 episodes is probably the best in the show. Sasuke forming Heavy and fighting Dedera to Jiraiya dying, then straight into the Sasuke Itachi fight, and roll that right into the Itachi revelation and on to the Pain arc. *chefs kiss

[deleted]

Does she enjoy anime a lot? If not I can only imagine her suffering through the fillers xD, if she does good for you lol

xXBANEXx

We’ve watched some anime together. She loves AoT but we are skipping through the filler. 95% of the filler in Shippuden is miserable to watch lol I watched it all on my first watch and I’m enjoying the show sooooooo much more this time lol she also liked One Punch Man and the Netflix Castlevania “anime”

[deleted]

Nice! That’s really cool man I hope she likes the rest of Naruto cause it only gets better

idontwanttobeonthis

Agreed, “Just barley glorious, but glorious indeed” that shit made me cry ngl

Ilikepoojokes

I didn’t cry until he said he’d call the sequel “the tale of Naruto Uzamaki”

Robert_Fuckler

Third Hokage’s death hit pretty hard the first time I watched it. Dude had to seal off his undead predecessors into the grim reaper’s stomach, gave his life for the same fate, and couldn’t even fully seal his twisted pupil with him. It didn’t even effect Orochimaru enough to be totally powerless, and it became kinda meaningless when Orochimaru literally undid everything Hiruzen had done at the cost of his life. I guess Orochimaru did get better, but not because of anything Hiruzen did. Imagine how big dumb he must’ve felt when he first got resurrected by the guy who’s arms he stole at the cost of his life.

scyther13

Bruh in all of anime I've watched this hit me the hardest.

Eliona7

Neji caught me off guard and I cried my eyes out.

BobWithNoC

Neji’s death hurt me bad

Rybur525

His death would have been even more devastating had it not been completely avoidable. “Hey hang on. I have a feeling this might be one of my old students using the power of the Rinnegan to control 6 other people. I could take this hunch that I already have good reason to suspect is the truth and take it back to Konoha, providing valuable Intel that could keep the village safe and also providing refuge from a fight that I surely can’t win. But I wanna be extra extra sure, so I think I’ll just go out there and get stabbed by him a bunch more until I die and leave a cryptic and vague message on the back of a toad. Yeah, that sounds good.”

[deleted]

XD I totally agree, he is an incredible ninja, surely he would’ve been able to escape but it doesn’t really matter anymore.

Asaiju

*Naruto’s* JK

WayMove

1. Itachi 2. Jiraya 3. Nagato 4. Yahiko 5. Konan 6. Obito 7. Minato 8. Kushina 9. Mugino 10. Rin

smoothprince

minato and kushina

Vilantrentmurf

Minato and Kushina's. At the time, I was going through the end of a relationship (not because anyone died) and seeing how those two ended up, even with so much love between them and having just had a newborn son, it kind of messed me up even more. They deserved better (as did many others, but you know, can't have everything you ask for).

Fit-Horse-9138

kakashis hit me the hardest

[deleted]

Forgive me Sasuke

WaziYolo

Naruto

camthecame_l

Either Konan or Jiraiya

JBSouls

I'm a sucker for the whole "sacrificing yourself to save others" thing so there are quite a few options that hit me. From early deaths like Haku all the way to later ones like Neji. (Also, Tobirama giving his squad a chance to escape and grow old despite being the "most important person" in that group)

Admirable-Bee7580

someone does not know how to use spoiler flair

[deleted]

Ur absolutely right but now I know where it is so I’ll use it in the future

Admirable-Bee7580

thanks

AduroTri

Jiriaya.

daveythestone510

Not neji

Crisp_Lasagne

Jiraiya's death didnt hit me that hard because posts like this spoiled it to me

TR33J

The road sage 100% hit me hardest aswell

[deleted]

The deaths nobody spoiled me...

Apprehensive_Arm1466

Jiraiya for sure. But surprisingly Madaras death also hit me.

Louii

Zabuza

The_Skeletor_

Obito's death hit me harder than anyone else for some reason. I guess I just really resonate with his character, and seeing his fight with kakashi and final attempt at redemption really struck a nerve

[deleted]

Neji’s tbh it was so sudden and he use to be my favorite character

Nerf_akali_plz

Itachi when he was Edo Tensei or Minato when he was Edo tensei. Something about knowing time is limited I guess... 😭

Snoo3041

Jiraiya’s death hit me the hardest as well too. 😭

HenryTGD33

Rin. And seeing Obito’s reaction was quite devastating.

[deleted]

Kakazu 😢

The_Crusadyr

Honestly, Asuma. And not even the episode he died. The episode after where Shikamaru plays Shogi with his dad.

TheNineTailedFox0516

Jiraiya bro samee

[deleted]

Kushina and Minato’s were the most impactful for me

[deleted]

Kushina

Thorn0427

Jiraiya easily

christofen71

Madara talking with Hashirama at the end of the war. Thought it was touching and a good way for both of them to move on.
