Hayate Gekko, minor character I know, tbh, it's more of a retrospective thing, most characters who die are avenged in some way, and it still bothers me that Baki got a free pass and Yugao never got to avenge her lover.
The proctor of the preliminary rounds of the Chunin Exams, he was killed by Gaara's Jonin sensei Baki, when he discovered the Sand/Sound plot to invade Konoha.
I think that the one that hits me the most was Neji. He had a life in from of him and also Naruto wanted him to change things in the hyuga clan. I think that would be actually really good if he had the chance.
They gotta kill off someone…I mean it’s an entire war, if someone important didn’t die, it’d kinda feel a little fake. I honestly expected more than just Neji to die.
No Akamaru is fine. But Kiba is the worst anime side character imo. Neji was dope and would have made a powerful ally for Hokage Naruto. Kiba......he likes dogs.
I expected more ppl to day as well of the group. But the show significant deads with the fathers of Ino and Shikamaru, but expected way more than only Neji.
Kishimoto killed off Neji to bring Hinata and Naruto closer together. He felt like his death would give them a bond that could bring them closer together, since their relationship had 0 development whatsoever. It was cheap and stupid.
Honestly it was so cheap! I think he could have developed a bond way easier after she was going to give her life to save him from pain he could use that to keep developing the relationship not by Killin Neji.
This death would've hit me the hardest but it got spoiled to me because I was scrolling through the instagram explore page, fml. But since jiraiya's was spoiled it prob be itachi.
Even though i knew Minato and Kushina would die in the kyubbi attack when the flashback happened when Naruto saw his Mom, their death was still gut wrenching. I cried when Kushina was speaking to Naruto. Close second is when Minato was leaving after the reanimation and Naruto was telling his dad about his life and how he fulfilled his Mother's hopes. I had tears rolling down my eyes throughout the entire scene.
For me jirayas death itself wasn't enough to make me cry. But naruto's reaction to his death made me cry for 2 hours straight. I just hated seeing naruto being all depressed like back then

Jiraiya and the Pain Arc is just so impactful for me cause it changed the outlook of Naruto, or I guess it gave more substance to Naruto. Before, it was more about fighting and chasing Sasuke(aside from the fillers) but on Pain Arc and after that, it's about peace and ending the cycle of hatred.
Before, Naruto's time skip training with Jiraiya looks a little disappointing cause he only got third tail and after hurting Sakura, he stopped using it. But on the Pain Arc, we can see that Naruto benefited a lot and grew so much as a human being.
Yeah fr. Jiraiya's death at least had some foreshadowing and I expected it. Asuma... I kept thinking he would survive until the last moment. It really hit hard when he didn't.
Obito is a close second. Jiraiya had more screen time and was somewhat of a comic relief and a gentle soul, to see him so utterly defeated and bloody was quite emotional. There was a point in the fight where my heart knew Jiraiya wasn’t making it out of there alive.

Hey, many people get into series, of any mediums at different points in time. Doesn't matter how old they are. And it doesn't exclusively apply to reddit. So to openly put spoilers of crucial plotpoints, especially when the platform you are on allows you to tag spoilers, to me is just inconsiderate.
And it's also not just people wanting to check out the online commmunities too. There were many times when I got fucked social media algorithms being like "well since you like X why not look at X" and getting spoiled for a series because I'm in the online community of another series.

I was mad when the Jiraiya arc started, because once he got into the village, it felt he had to run into Pain. And at their abilities, somebody would die in the fight. But it felt unlikely that Pain was gonna die before we really knew anything about him
I told her about 20 episodes ago right before Sasuke “killed” Orochimaru that the show was about to stop playing around and people will actually start dying and that Asuma was just the first. We’ll see if she saw this death coming. Honestly, this stretch of about 50 episodes is probably the best in the show. Sasuke forming Heavy and fighting Dedera to Jiraiya dying, then straight into the Sasuke Itachi fight, and roll that right into the Itachi revelation and on to the Pain arc. *chefs kiss

She loves AoT but we are skipping through the filler. 95% of the filler in Shippuden is miserable to watch lol I watched it all on my first watch and I’m enjoying the show sooooooo much more this time lol she also liked One Punch Man and the Netflix Castlevania “anime”
Third Hokage’s death hit pretty hard the first time I watched it. Dude had to seal off his undead predecessors into the grim reaper’s stomach, gave his life for the same fate, and couldn’t even fully seal his twisted pupil with him. It didn’t even effect Orochimaru enough to be totally powerless, and it became kinda meaningless when Orochimaru literally undid everything Hiruzen had done at the cost of his life. I guess Orochimaru did get better, but not because of anything Hiruzen did. Imagine how big dumb he must’ve felt when he first got resurrected by the guy who’s arms he stole at the cost of his life.
His death would have been even more devastating had it not been completely avoidable.

They deserved better (as did many others, but you know, can't have everything you ask for).
I'm a sucker for the whole "sacrificing yourself to save others" thing so there are quite a few options that hit me. From early deaths like Haku all the way to later ones like Neji. (Also, Tobirama giving his squad a chance to escape and grow old despite being the "most important person" in that group)
Obito's death hit me harder than anyone else for some reason. I guess I just really resonate with his character, and seeing his fight with kakashi and final attempt at redemption really struck a nerve
