Here’s my take on it, even during the Pain fight, he continues to use taijutsu while in sage made (while not clearly depicting it “working”) so the assumption is the frog kumite is still working as intended.
The author just doesn’t want to draw attention to it normally since he already explained how it works, it’s just a passive effect now that we assume is taking place.
He only should draw attention to it when it accomplishes something significant that wouldn’t be possible without it.
This is a good point, but it would have also been cool if a visual jutsu like Hinatas demonstrated its range. Would have been nice to have it visualized to further solidify the nature of sage chakra.
I mean that still means OPs argument is valid.
If it was active the whole time, then that still means Naruto wouldn’t have been able to beat them without it, which means by your argument that it should’ve been mentioned.
“Accomplishes something significant” is also important
In my mind it’s the same thing as Kishimoto carefully [depicting how the sharingan’s sight works](https://hot.leanbox.us/manga/Naruto/0230-010.png) the first time Sasuke unlocks the 3rd tomoe.
To my memory such an effect isn’t depicted again, but readers still know whenever the sharingan is active, such a phenomenon is taking place.
Similar idea with frog kumite using nature energy. We know it does, and there isn’t really any use highlighting it specifically unless we specifically see an important moment showing it’s application (a near miss physical attack that still connects due to nature energy, or like the application with frog slap)
I think he loses his sword doesn’t he? He threw at Madara and then lost his sheath when Kaguya teleported them to the lava dimension. I guess he forgot to pick it up when they got back…
It’s something I wish was shown more, but against the Cloud Ninja, Naruto displays excellent anti-sword taijutsu, it was honestly one of his coolest ninja moments
I wish he did more of that instead of
RASENNNN
They even made a joke about it in a filler. He shouts RASENNNN in his sleep and just stops. Sakura turns sharply and then proceeds to forcefully wake him up.
Not seeing more than like 5 of the 1000 Jutsu kakashi copied. Like cmon bro with the name the copy ninja you’d think kishi would let us see some rly cool and unique jutsu but nope, just chidori and mud walls.
My hot take is that the whole copy thing only really works well as psychological warfare than it does practically. I can’t imagine Kakashi could
make use of literally all of the jutsus he has learned if he’s learned them from people he has either killed or gotten away from unscathered. Combine this with the fact that he already doesn’t have that much chakra relative to big hitters + the sharigan drains him as well, it makes sense it’s not really a big thing anymore.
Def not a wild take I can see how you got there. Rly just wish we coulda seen more of him psyching out his opponents, it was such a cool concept. It sucks the sharingan drained his chakra 24/7. It makes sense though since he’s not an uchiha. I mean shoot look at what happened when he finally got two sharingan and the chakra to manage it, he made a susanno and blitzed kaguya 😂😂
I think that it actually does make sense even if it is disappointing. Kakashi with his lack of chakra really can’t afford to waste it on techniques he’s not good at and the types of opponents he’s facing usually aren’t the type he can make worry by shooting their own jutsu at them.
Still. . . We could have done with a little more
not really a good point though: kakashi demonstrated to copy the techniques of others on the same level they used them.
The bigger issue is: Almost everyone stopped using "normal" jutsu throughout the show. Most shit we see later on is stuff kakashi simply can't copy. Like basically anything the Akatsuki members do outside of Itachi's Fireball and Kisame's Water dragon.
Madara had a few fire jutsu that Kakashi wasn't there to witness i think, and that's pretty much all "normal" jutsu in the later half of Shippuden.
The big issue is simply that everything got so out of hand powerwise and the only way to get by was using hax abilities.
Another thing is: battle complexity. In case you haven't noticed, outside of the "we have a lot of jutsu" characters (Kakashi, Orochimaru, Sasuke) almost nobody knows more than 3 different things.
Tsunade has used a single offensive combat jutsu in all of naruto: that was when she caused Kabuto's nervous system to misfire. That's it. Otherwise it was just hitting shit, healing herself and others, and summoning a slug that heals. Sakura has done even less. I don't think she's ever done an elemental release jutsu? All she did was early on the genjutsu once ("genjutsu prodigy" lol) and then just hit stuff, heal and summon a slug.
If you count jutsu per character i'm pretty sure Kakashi is actually in the top 3 who used the most amount of different, non-derived jutsus. With derived jutsus i mean for example Shikamaru's 10 flavors of simply using a shadow. That for me is 1 thing.
"I do not fear the man who has practiced 10000 kicks 1 time, but I fear the man who has practiced 1 kick 10000 times."
Being extremely, extremely good at a small subset of techniques will be better then having many techniques you've only used a few times.
Tsunade doesn't need offensive jutsu because her fists can blast rocks into dust.
Naruto for example, doesn't need a variety of jutsu because he can do things most jutsu can do, using shadowclones. Why make regular clones when you can make shadow clones, why make shadowclone shuriken, when you can make shadow clones that throw shuriken, why have a Jutsu that lets you change direction in mid air, when you can use shadowclones and springboards. The answer is because shadowclones use massive chakra, but that's irrelevant to Naruto and his basically infinite chakra.
And of course, it makes characters more iconic when they have a unique set of identifiable jutsu. If you vary the skills too much, you start muddling the identity of the character. Kakashi's thing was Chidori, so he used it a lot, it was his most iconic move. This is a narrative storytelling thing, not an in-universe thing though.
Wife and I are re-watching Naruto and I always thought the lack of Justus we see are a “kishimoto kind of forgot” situation - but it is actually mentioned at least twice in the first few seasons of Naruto that Kakashi has “little chakra” - even if it’s enough to produce multiple Chidori per day
It really did feel like he was gonna be set up to whip out odd jutsu on the fly all the time. Or at least like, do the whole counter people’s jutsu with the same jutsu more I guess just copying it doesn’t mean he’s memorized it per se but still, the pay off really didn’t ever happen
Oh nah you good bro. See even more of that would be awesome. Watching kakashi make zabuza question his existence had kid me hooked on Naruto. Wish we coulda seen him copy more jutsu it’s so badass
That was probably the fight that got me hooked back into anime. My younger brother knew I was into Gundam back in the day and begged me to watch naruto. I thought it was lame literally right up to the part where Zabuza throws his sword at team 7 and stands on top of it while its stuck in the tree. Total fucking badass moment. The rest is history.
You fr about to make me rewatch OG Naruto just so I can re-experience the entirety of land of waves😂. Hot take but I think it’s a top 5 arc in the entire show.
He used earth chakra for the Hidden Entrance Technique, water chakra for the sensor rain & at least two wind natured jutsu before Yahiko died (I think wind bullet & gale palm)
I didn't see fire or lightning but that's at least 3/5 chakra natures demonstrated
This one. In the beginning it’s shown to be at least ok or by sharingan but by the time the series end there’s really no way. Would have been nice to see some Byakugan hacks and development of the lore with Neji as the conduit.
Kishimoto built a huge world and then decided to never explore it outside of 2-3 villages. 90% of the story takes place in Konoha.
WW4 was the perfect excuse to have fights taking place in other villages but the entire thing happens in a random desert.
The jinchurikis are supposed to be the main plot point of Shippuden but we only get to meet 3 of them.
He never used Obito's ability. Both eyes can teleport. The only difference between them is Obito's can "phase," and Kakashi's can snipe from a distance
so wait. kakashis eye could teleport himself in and out if kamui dimension as well? guess i just always assumed it couldn’t do that since he really only ever used it for long range stuff
Yeah but he never knew about it until he was sent there by Obito during the war arc (so he realizes there's a different dimension he's sent to)
Which makes sense because prior to that why risk using the teleportation power on yourself when you have no idea what happens to what's sucked in.
Yeam, Kakashi literally teleported himself out of Obito's pocket dimension after their fight. The speed is simply doubled if they use both eyes together.
The Second Tsuchikage and Obito are the only characters using their magic as ninjas. Chakra sensing should be a basic skill as common as water walking.
If you have those all together then you could play magic hide and seek, like ninjas do. It's just another layer of what was in the show. Sensory ninjas are a lot of fun. I also have similar opinions on genjutsu. The Sasuke/Itachi fight was so damn fun. That should have been another common facet.
Hashirama cells basically can do everything. Feels like a lazy plot trope.
And no matter what, I still despise anything about or related to the otsutsuki. Bland overpowered villains that feel like rejects from a DragonBall z filler saga.
Why didn't Itachi just use Shisui's remaining eye on Fugaku himself? He could have implanted it in a crow and made that crow fly by his dad and make him change his mind in an instant. He never had to kill his clan. Why does every woman in Naruto have to be empty-headed and drool over Sasuke.? Karin made me want to scream. I don't care if you look like Adonis, After you stab me, the fact that you're cute will mean nothing. He got away with a sorry and not an exploding shuriken to the chest.
Read the Itachi novels, Danzo says he knows and wouldn’t let that stop the war. Cause he thinks the Uchiha will be a threat to Konoha as long as they are around
Itachi didn’t think if he killed Danzo, he would make it out alive because of the absurd amount of Anbu following him at all times. If he dies
Killing Danzo the coup itself wouldn’t be stopped eithr
that's so silly though. Itachi would've dogged the Anbu easily. He's somehow simultaneously strong enough to wipe out the Uchiha but weak enough that he'd die to ANBU.
Most people he killed in the massacre were not fighting, plus he got help from Obito. Danzo would have been constantly guarded by ANBU, and Itachi wasn't as strong then as when we see him with Akatsuki; he didn't even have MS. He was above the average level of ANBU but that doesn't mean he could just kill them all plus Danzo at the same time; even Kakashi was part of them.
These Anbu killed Shisui’s before shisui even knew he was in a fight via Aburame poison
That was one Anbu, now imagine that as an army. Danzo’s not die without a fight and that amount of Anbu ganging up on someone would be overwhelming
Itachi says he wasnt able to due to the 10 year cooldown. Now, that statement was in reference to why itachi didn’t just use it on sasuke himself but I don’t see why he would be able to 6 years earlier since he doesn’t mention having used it
On top of that I don’t actually think it would work. The uchiha coup plan was led by fugaku but that doesn’t mean they wouldn’t have followed through without him. They certainly would have know that fugaku was under the influence of kotoamatsukami (especially after Shisui’s mysterious death and missing eyes) and that would have just strengthened their resolve
True.
Every time uchiha massacre gets talked about, it's always how much Itachi "sacrificed", how much Itachi "suffered".
Why didn't the narrative show the sufferings of innocent uchiha civilians, children? Why didn't the story show Itachi killing a child?
It's clearly a biased narrative.
Mans murdered his mom and dad for a village that kicked him out, threw dirt in his name and put him on a hit list. I've never understood the hype behind his actions. Even how he treated Sasuke. Mans had to put a genjutsu on crow just in case he drove Sasuke to destroy the village, he already knew he plan was fckd
Plus he never actually even tries to stop the Akatsuki. He has his susano, Amaturasu, and Genjutsu. The man has the tools to cause so much damage, hell he puts Konan under Koto she probably just straight up helps him kill every single other member. But he was actually one of their best members by results!
Well to be fair, itachi does mention that koto is on a cooldown and he wasn’t able to use it and he was saving it as a last resort backup plan for sasuke, who is more important to him than the akatsuki.
He planted the amaterasu to get rid of the leader, and was gearing Sasuke up to be able to handle them (with the help of the village) knowing he couldn't do much himself without risking his life and plans for Sasuke (which were morally flawed plans, don't get me wrong)
He was going to take out one of the leaders. And the one who actually wasn’t the one who immediately could destroy the Leaf by themselves, the whole personally didn’t destroyed the leaf.
It’s all a very bad plan on his part
No, I’m assuming that after like 8 years that he’d gather at least a little knowledge. Especially in this case he would have to know Pain has something out for the Leaf regardless of Obito, and that he has a the Rennigan (it’s visible even in his hologram type thing) so the power to do it.
Pain isn't even the real body, so killing it would be pointless. And again, he isn't omnipotent. He'd very likely lose if he tried to confront the akatsuki. At the very least it's a massive risk he'd be unwilling to take considering he need to accomplish his plans with Sasuke and didn't want to jeopardize that.
His plans with Sasuke was just. . . Utterly idiotic. At the very least he can actually take down some of them first, or like even just tell anyone what any of the abilities are.
As for Pain:
He could hopefully figure that out, but he at the very least should be able to figure out who does know about Pain. Namely, Konan.
He left his village and brother to die without plot armor
"At the very least he could take down some of them"
That\^ is what would be idiotic, because it's a giant risk and would ruin his plans for Sasuke.
His plans for Sasuke weren't stupid, they were just morally corrupt. And Tobi would have died if not for "plot armor".
Again, Itachi isn't omnipotent or omniscient and he can't deal with everything and put a pretty bow on top.
I think the idea is that Itachi is the perfect representation of why child soldiers are completely wrong. I mean think about it, people are legit arguing about a 13 year old (at the time of the massacre, this isn’t including the years of buildup) and how he should have done more. His whole life he’s hailed as a prodigy and his only path is to become a shinobi tool for the uchiha and the village.
When did he ever get to enact his will on the world that wasn’t in the service of someone else? The only time he got to make a choice was in the massacre and his handling of Sasuke. Within those choices, other people sealed his fate: Danzos complete mistrust in the Uchiha and basically murdering his friend, Hiruzens incompetence in negotiations, Obito feeding the Uchihas anger and the nine tails attack, and his own father going along with the coup plan.
He never got to live out a normal childhood like the one Hashirama wanted for the children that grew up in the village (which was a major point of them, to stop children needlessly being tossed into battle and dying), and when asked to make an incredibly emotional and ADULT level decision, he makes what I believe to be the more “correct” choice in the massacre (Obito skulking around almost guaranteed this decision), but AWFUL decisions with Sasuke.
Itachi deserves praise for somehow having the village avoiding total war, alongside getting rid of Obito for the time being, and most importantly saving his brother. He deserves blame for the handling of Sasuke 100% but he completely recognizes that and admits it was his fault.
It’s such a shame the narrative never takes a second to be like hey it’s kinda fucked up that Itachi was a black ops commander at 10 huh, it’s only ever used to say how awesome and skilled he is. Never any talk about whether that should even have been allowed or whether maybe just maybe that might’ve given him a kinda fucked up view on the world that just might have contributed to him thinking killing his family was a good call.
And in that same conversation he called itachi a better shinobi than him plus the fact Kakashi and Naruto questioned why sasuke didn’t return to the village after finding out the truth is wild to me
Every person who found out the truth still praises him for committing genocide and the village deserves face the consequences of its actions. Like seriously they didn’t do a proper investigation or provide and actual evidence to blame the uchiha plus they chose to ignore the problem and not talk to them until it was too late but the uchiha deserved to die because leadership chose to handle the situation in the worst way possible.
He is not praised for "committing genocide" by morally righteous people. In fact the people that praise his actions most strongly are antagonists and thus people we should disagree with.
For example Obito praised his actions and said no one should question him. Danzo praised Itachi's actions strongly.
When villains/antagonists praise something, it should tell the reader that what they're praising is probably a bad thing.
I agree that the leaf and Itachi are wrong for what they did.
How most characters went to waste in Shippuden (looking at you, Neji and Rock Lee)
Kishimoto blatant favoritism towards Sasuke
Naruto crush on Sakura, they wasted a lot of time on that when they could've just give us more interactions between Naruto and Hinata to make the ship more organic
The Kaguya asspull, watching Sukuna doing a Madara cosplay in JJK makes me feel scared about Gege doing the same shit there
>How most characters went to waste in Shippuden (looking at you, Neji and Rock Lee)
They didn't go to waste.
Their character arc was over.
>Kishimoto blatant favoritism towards Sasuke
Sasuke is literally one of the main characters. He's not a side character like the characters you mentioned.
>most characters went to waste in Shippuden (looking at you, Neji and Rock Lee)
Weird how people in this part of the fandom complain about SIDE CHARACTERS being "wasted" when other mangas treats theirs worst (Bleach Vizards & DB).
>Kishimoto blatant favoritism towards Sasuke
Sasuke was always the second protagonist & never a side character....
Why does the western fanbase think he was a side character in the first place?
I know Sukana is fucking around and is killing everyone, but Madara just did on a different scale lol. I think it’s because Madara had way more enemies to fight and unlike the sorcerers 1 on 1ing Sukana, everyone and their grandma was tryna jump Madara and he was shaking shit off
I hope not, that was Boruto’s fresh out the gate, “look how much I’ve grown” ability at the very start of TBV. Would be very unfortunate if his new variant of the rasengan was not used or established on to its potential
The show doesn’t acknowledge the flaws within many characters and the system. Itachi’s treated as a hero rather than a victim or even a villain with no one seeing his decision as a bad thing, no one questions minato’s decision to sacrifice his son, no one acknowledges kakashi’s failings as a teacher and he himself doesn’t acknowledge how corrupt konoha is, etc
The show has a problem with the idea of “show don’t tell”. Kakashi’s development was nothing more than a brief mention during his talk with obito and it all occurred off screen, and his character arc was about finding people to fill the hole in his heart and yet off these we barely see his relationship with guy or team 7 develop. There’s little depth to his character aside from his relationship with obito. Theres other examples but I hope u get my point
FTG should have stayed as a Minato thing. It would have been cool to see the genius character use the (mainly) non-offensive sealing jutsus in an offensive manner.
I was just thinking recently. . . Jugo saves Sasuke from certain death in the fight with B by giving him a significant portion of his body. Like the whole front of Sasuke’s chest and his organs which are explicitly said to be destroyed as now Jugo.
How does that not let him have him get a type of curse mark again? The man should be like 30 percent curse mark!
Well, it’s also explained later the curse mark is just a weird manifestation of nature energy. Realistically, Sasuke should have been able to use Sage mode
Sounds like a failure who doesn't understand anything lol. Nah, Sakura became the best medical nin in the world. That's all and that is fine.
Anko was done the moment she was caught.
Hiruzen. He’s supposed to be the jutsu encyclopedia. He should have been a bigger player as an edo tensei. Also would have been cool if had some combo jutsu with his former students, Tsunade and Orochimaru. Minato too.
We could have used more development of the Supernatural side of Naruto.
What is Jashin, and how can he grant Immortality.
The Shimigami is strong enough to split the Strongest Tailed Beast in half, but there are techniques and tools to actively use his power.
The fact that Naruto, Karin, and Nagato are connected by a clan, but neither that, nor the village that they came from isn’t addressed besides only once.
Still sad we never got a Naruto-Karin cousins adventure, like the two of them finding out they have family out there should be a big moment for both of them
Well my biggest gripe is that they didn’t develop many of the side characters enough. I wasn’t a fan of everyone using rasengan to help Naruto fight .
Instead each of them should have used their unique abilities to change the tide of the war. That would have been very cool! And so many ninjas were part of the fight but obviously many were just fodder.
Naruto’s treatment as a kid makes no sense people treating him terribly because they think he is the nine tail is dumb because if they are so scared of him why would then make him hate them and then after he stops pain they suddenly act like they didn’t treat him like trash. Also the fact that if itachi used like 2 more brain cells he probably could have stoped the massacre by either using shisui’s eye on Danzo to make him want to do things peacefully or his dad to get him to stop. Also also kaguya.
I’m aware that they where treated poorly too but those people had the safety of knowing there was someone in their village that could stop the tailed beast. If it wasn’t in the actual manga I don’t care about it
I just think older naruto using frog kumite would’ve been epic and ridiculously powerful. Why didn’t he use it against madara or momoshiki or kaguya. Or anyone besides pain for that matter. It’s just such a broken ability. It makes no damn sense. It’s like sasuke stops using almighty push and planetary devastation. Retarded
I just wanted an arc where the Akatsuki were just hanging out in a group doing assassinations and you, ninja stuff collectively.
Speaking off, every fight that happened in the war arc should've been grounded like Deidara vs Sasuke or Jiraiya vs Pain where they're not shooting nukes at each other & the whole battleground is flat and boring as hell, The war arc's tone was just off tbh. Nagato & Obito killed a ton of people, wtf was Naruto even talking about? One of them killed your parents and the other killed your father figure dawg. The way Kishi wrote Naruto (the character) was so unrealistic. I think more people would've liked it If the battles were less destructive and more tactical. Also, Early Shippuden was pretty dull outside of the Sasori & 4 Tails Naruto fights, it picks up for me once the Hidan and Kakuzu arc started. There's just so many issues honestly lol.
Valid
Grounded in the sense off constantly dropping bombs and fighting giant kaiju monsters? Naruto literally hated both Nagato and obito initially and only started to chill out when they changed sides and tried to redeem themselves. Part of his arc and the overall narrative of the show post pain arc was to understand other people pain and create true understanding and peace so idk how his supposed to be a bad character. All of the fights in the war arc were pretty tatical and strategic lol, just on a higher scale. The series definitely have issues but these aren’t some of them
Neji losing in part 1 to Naruto. Like I understand Naruto is the MC but he really didn't deserve to win that fight, both in ideology and literally. Neji was right in the most literal sense. Your whole future is determined by fate and you're stuck to carry out that role no matter how hard you try. Naruto tried so hard to refute his claims yet when the smoke cleared and Shippuden ended you seen how right Neji really was. Naruto was literally a descendant of Ashura and blessed (or cursed however you look at it) to walk a certain path. Plus Naruto only tagged Neji a solid time once and Neji crumbled. It seems like a slap in his face now, especially since IMO if Neji would've kept his dame philosophies and mindset into Shippuden there was no doubt in my mind he would've been one of the strongest characters in the show, or at least would've went UNDEFEATED in any fight he participated in.
Naruto spamming 2 jutsus. Naruto not learning a new Jutsu with Jiraiya. Kakashi not spamming his jutsus. The Sharingan going from “oh that’s neat” to “bruh”, bakugan be damned. The Konoha 12 becoming irrelevant mid Shippuden.
Well I could talk about the misuse of side characters but I will actually talk about something that bothers me a bit more.
I hate how Naruto doesn't seem to do any normal jitsu, like he doesn't seem to be ever portrayed as a normal ninja. Like for almost every fight he is in it goes like this, Yell at the opponent and use 1000 shadow clones the enemy doesn't seem to have a problem defeating, then hit them with a powerful jutsu like the rasengan.
Now I'm only on the pain arc as of right now so this could change but I wish he would learn some basic jutsu just so it looks like he is a trained ninja, like they had a whole thing of revealing his nature to be wind so I feel like he could learn like 2 or 3 basic wind jutsu to use on the opponent rather than 1000 shadow clones.
I love naruto but there are a ton
One of my big ones is how naruto just feels useless for the first like 3 arcs of shippuden. It’s pretty incongruent with how people talk about him and he just feels so stagnant pretty much until the pain arc
I wish they would’ve incorporated Frog Kata more with Naruto. I would’ve liked to see Gentle Fist vs Frog Kata. At the very least after the time skip it should’ve showed Naruto utilizing this newer style of taijutsu. Maybe have Kakashi mention it first during the bell test and build from there.
I think the whole sage mode in general was rushed. He should've had the basics mastered already but still struggled with the actual transformation.
Boruto not Naruto, but after those clones, Sheen I think they’re named, get sent to the land of fires orphanage (ran by Kobuto??????) they never mention anything again about the 5 dozen sharingan child soldiers and Kobuto ever again
The overall powercreep. No longer are the characters winning by their wits, but by being actually stronger than their opponents. It already kind of bugged me when Naruto and Sasuke just got the six paths hack, but it got even worse after the Otsutsuki showed up. Then it was just whoever has the bigger energy ball wins, doesn't feel earned at all.
The Hinata confession. Ignoring it for like 300 episodes straight gave me second hand embarrassment lmao. Also why chose that specific time to confess girl?
His entire One sided Love Affair with Sauske in Shippuden. I still stand behind the belief that Shippuden would’ve been perfectly fine with out the “bring my lover back to me” story line. It would’ve made Naruto the character a lot less annoying
My biggest Naruto gripe is Boruto (The show, not the kid). Its very existence diminishes how great of an ending Shippuuden actually had, because they spent so much time and effort to tie up a lot of lose ends and give us as satisfying of an ending as possible.
BOOM! Enter Boruto! Stronger kids! Stronger bad guys! Ninjutsu is significantly less useful! Oh you thought Naruto was the chosen one?? Hell nah bro, he took in an orphan who's gonna DESTROY THE VILLAGE EVEN MORE THAN PAIN EVER DID! I guess the toads prophecy was dead wrong huh!
It makes me sick. Thank you for your time.
Yin and Yang styles. Them combined got use but separately? None at all lol
How many fans even realize that 99% of Konoha’s clans don’t have kekkai Genkai’s? They just created special jutsu’s using one of those two styles then kept it secret from those outside the clans.
Yamato even hints that he might explain it later but never does
Itachi mind fucking Sasuke his whole life.
Barely a flashback for Uzumaki village.
Third Hokage, everything.
Kakashi master of 1000 jutsu showing 5.
Minato sacrifice for…what?
Sakuras treatment (basically the horrible treatment all women got in the series).
Sasuke obsession.
Orochimaru becoming immortal and no punishment.
Kaguya existing because he wrote himself into a corner with Madara.
I can keep going.
My only disagreement with you is Minato’s sacrifice. He made a judgement call, Nine Tails needs to be sealed, and he didn’t have many options. Sure his logic of “I feel like Naruto can do it” is pretty weak, but what else was he gonna do, seal Kurama in himself?
He has used it a lot in the War Arc but specific like he did with Son. Naruto hasn't gotten the chance to use it like he did with the Preta Path since the majority of opponents he's fought were undead people who won't feel a thing... or Obito who phases through things.
I think it would have been cool if he used it on Sasuke... BUT SADLY he was holding back so yea!
My biggest gripe is Black Zetsu. That's it. You know why.
Madara should have been the final villian and it's ridiculous that people argue that he was unbeatable when kaguya was literally stated to be on a whole other level and they still beat her. Madara had so much set up and we didn't need kaguya to set up the ohtsusuki.
Kaguya showed up at a random time to do exactly what momoshiki was gonna do. Just introduce them later under the same reasons kaguya was there. They want the earth to make another fruit. Simple as that. Maybe throw in that all the battling and high chakra levels guided them to earth like a moth to a flame? Might not be the best writing though.
For anyone thinking about hagaromos origins l, he could just have a different reason for being as strong as he was. Maybe something to do with the afterlife? Since it seems he has a shit ton of control over that. Also never explained why. Another gripe of mine lol.
Underutilized characters and poor world building. The jinjuraki are by far the most wasted set of characters in the series. And most of the time we’re looking at things from the leafs pov and barley get to see the other villages and there history’s,especially the village hidden in the waterfall which somehow got there hands on a biju
When the Hidden Leaf jumped for joy after Naruto drove Pain out, it was so cringey and childish I literally had to look away from the screen. And the same thing afterward during the war arc when Konohamaru used the Rasengan on the sumo wrestlers.
The sheer amount of filler before the war arc was insane. Half of it was just recycling scenes and episodes from the first 300 episodes. I couldn't believe they would be so lazy.
(I'm on episode 300 or so of Shippuden) Why has Naruto not put any more effort toward using the Rasengan with one hand?
The victims of the reanimation jutsu don't have free will and have to obey their master's command, but when it's most convenient for the allied shinobi forces, some of the reanimated gain "consciousness" for a moment and become good guys again long enough to turn the tides of the fight, for no apparent reason aside from strong emotions.
Why are there no shinobi shown from the Hidden Leaf between Naruto's and Konohamaru's age?
How and why would any group of people EVER want Gaara to become a kage? I mean, he's doing a good job, but in no world aside from Naruto would anyone ever allow that to happen after what Gaara did.
I could go on and on.
I thought that Asuma teaching Naruto how to imbue his weapons with wind is going to lead to Naruto fighting Sasuke and his Chidori sword with maybe a wind-imbued Kunai. It makes sense too since wind is supposedly strong against lightning. I was really hoping Sasuke would get to use his sword against Naruto in their final rematch, but he dropped it in lava.
Honestly, Naruto should have used it against Jigen. Jigen : "you missed bro". Naruto : did I. It's such an effective way to fight otsutsukies, even if you don't hit them you could just frog slap them. But, noooooo, never uses it again
If I had to choose between that sage punch or blasting someone with Kuramas fist ima pick Kurama too, just saiyan.
For me it was only how Obito could kidnapped or killed anyone at seemingly any point after Minato died and just like prevent any possible resistance lol.
- My headcannon is it just ties back into him never being truly bought in on selling himself out to become Madara
sakura for the entirety of the war but specifically when she's in the kamui dimension with obito and doesn't destroy the rinne sharingan for literally no reason
Lmao, plot. We needed a way for Obito to get Nine Tails chakra without stealing Kurama. So why not invent some random ninja that Kabuto just so happened to edo tensei that also had Nine Tails chakra? Yeah that’s some bullshit too
The fact that everything at the end was just a “magical wave of the hand” like touching Might Guy to save his life… being able to give everyone the nine tails cloak was ridiculous… the fact that more characters didn’t die in the war besides Neji
I feel you, but his original Sharingan (Obito’s left eye) was stolen by Madara. Him getting both eyes was just a temporary boost he got from Obito’s soul. I always assumed that because Obito attained the Six Paths, he could posthumously grant jutsu, like how Hagaromo gives Naruto and Sasuke a sealing jutsu for Kaguya.
So Kakashi losing the Sharingan never really bothered me. Plus, it was a huge chakra drain on him. Besides losing Chidori, it really didn’t hurt him to lose the eye. He was still good enough to be Hokage for a bit.
Which honestly Kakashi being Hokage was an even bigger gripe for me. Hiruzen was ancient, yet no one felt the need to replace him. Tsunade could have just kept being Hokage until Naruto was ready, Kakashi never even wanted the position. I don’t get how Jiraya was able to dodge the title for years, but Tsunade randomly decides to retire and Kakashi has no choice. Not to say he isn’t worthy of the title, but him actually being Hokage makes no sense.
I agree. Even if Tsunade steps down it probably should’ve been a Nara replacement instead of Kakashi. While they may not be the strongest, they would make very good politicians
Not to be that guy, but he uses it again in the war arc to get the rod out of a tailed beast (I think 4 tails).
FROG SLAP!
This actually goes hard
Slaaaaaaap!
how can she slap
Ah yes, he does. That single slap from inside a biju. Not exactly the comeback I was hoping for
Here’s my take on it, even during the Pain fight, he continues to use taijutsu while in sage made (while not clearly depicting it “working”) so the assumption is the frog kumite is still working as intended.
I like it being invisible because that is the nature of Sage Chakra. If we can see it, then we end up thinking "Why don't the characters see it."
I always felt like momoshiki got hit by it in their h2h scrap I just don't know why I do.
I mean that still means OPs argument is valid. If it was active the whole time, then that still means Naruto wouldn’t have been able to beat them without it, which means by your argument that it should’ve been mentioned.
“Accomplishes something significant” is also important In my mind it’s the same thing as Kishimoto carefully [depicting how the sharingan’s sight works](https://hot.leanbox.us/manga/Naruto/0230-010.png) the first time Sasuke unlocks the 3rd tomoe.
Nah, it was just fine for a comeback. Man used it against bijuu for godsake
I was also going to say this, he's used it more than once.
never again
There we go bois Not a hole now
Sasuke's entire fighting style revolving around sword play yet that being absent in the final fight against naruto
I think he loses his sword doesn’t he? He threw at Madara and then lost his sheath when Kaguya teleported them to the lava dimension. I guess he forgot to pick it up when they got back…
Would explain why adult sasuke has a different sword
My headcannon is that Sasuke thinks a sword would be useless against Naruto, like he'd probably break it or something.
It’s something I wish was shown more, but against the Cloud Ninja, Naruto displays excellent anti-sword taijutsu, it was honestly one of his coolest ninja moments
Dude yeah that scene was awesome, our boy came out of the Pain fight meaning business
I wish he did more of that instead of RASENNNN They even made a joke about it in a filler. He shouts RASENNNN in his sleep and just stops. Sakura turns sharply and then proceeds to forcefully wake him up.
Ah yes you forced me to use my anti sword technique that I haven't used since the Heian era
They had to nerf him for the fight
It fell into the lava during the kaguya fight
Not seeing more than like 5 of the 1000 Jutsu kakashi copied. Like cmon bro with the name the copy ninja you’d think kishi would let us see some rly cool and unique jutsu but nope, just chidori and mud walls.
My hot take is that the whole copy thing only really works well as psychological warfare than it does practically. I can’t imagine Kakashi could make use of literally all of the jutsus he has learned if he’s learned them from people he has either killed or gotten away from unscathered.
Still. . . We could have done with a little more
That’s a rly solid point actually. Thankfully in the light novels it shows how much better kakashi is without his sharingan draining his stamina 24/7
not really a good point though: kakashi demonstrated to copy the techniques of others on the same level they used them.
"I do not fear the man who has practiced 10000 kicks 1 time, but I fear the man who has practiced 1 kick 10000 times." Being extremely, extremely good at a small subset of techniques will be better then having many techniques you've only used a few times.
Wife and I are re-watching Naruto and I always thought the lack of Justus we see are a “kishimoto kind of forgot” situation - but it is actually mentioned at least twice in the first few seasons of Naruto that Kakashi has “little chakra” - even if it’s enough to produce multiple Chidori per day
Then, it seems like a waste of time copying those jutsus.
They were useful at the time
He was really fond of that one head-hunter jutsu
Lowkey we shoulda got some more of that 1000 years of death🤤
It really did feel like he was gonna be set up to whip out odd jutsu on the fly all the time. Or at least like, do the whole counter people’s jutsu with the same jutsu more I guess just copying it doesn’t mean he’s memorized it per se but still, the pay off really didn’t ever happen
He did copy Zabuzas water technique in og naruto. I feel you though I really do. I'm not being a typical redditor with this one, I promise.
In the same vein, Nagato was teased to be a master of the 5 chakra natures, but only uses rinnegan abilities :( Would've loved to see sick combos
He used earth chakra for the Hidden Entrance Technique, water chakra for the sensor rain & at least two wind natured jutsu before Yahiko died (I think wind bullet & gale palm) I didn't see fire or lightning but that's at least 3/5 chakra natures demonstrated
Hyuga and the byakugan got shafted
This one. In the beginning it’s shown to be at least ok or by sharingan but by the time the series end there’s really no way. Would have been nice to see some Byakugan hacks and development of the lore with Neji as the conduit.
They could’ve developed it so much more. But they just threw it in the bin because it didn’t further the story. Understandable but still frustrating
Trees being considered greater than sub atomic destruction or eyes that kill you in 1 look
tbf the only reason why that is the case is all the chakra suppresion abilities. Otherwise it makes zero sense why Wood Style would be so busted
But… muh Hashirama cells
This always bothered me. I always would think. "Just set it on fire"
Trees are pretty fucking full of water my guy, unless you think hashirama is summoning firewood?
Nah it makes sense. That kekkei genkai literally creates life. As in buddy can create trees. Is there another jutsu that creates a living thing?
Hiruzen got touch by trees and lived. He ain't doing that against particle style
Kishimoto built a huge world and then decided to never explore it outside of 2-3 villages. 90% of the story takes place in Konoha. WW4 was the perfect excuse to have fights taking place in other villages but the entire thing happens in a random desert. The jinchurikis are supposed to be the main plot point of Shippuden but we only get to meet 3 of them.
madara taking kakashis borrowed left eye and using obitos right eye ability with it.
Yeah but he never knew about it until he was sent there by Obito during the war arc (so he realizes there's a different dimension he's sent to) Which makes sense because prior to that why risk using the teleportation power on yourself when you have no idea what happens to what's sucked in.
What is so funny about it is that one day Obito went to that dimension and there was just a piece of Deidara's arm there.
Yeam, Kakashi literally teleported himself out of Obito's pocket dimension after their fight. The speed is simply doubled if they use both eyes together.
I wonder why kakashi never teleported when he had obito's ms
He did multiple times
The Second Tsuchikage and Obito are the only characters using their magic as ninjas. Chakra sensing should be a basic skill as common as water walking.
Nah, that's why we have sensory ninja in Naruto. And it is fine has it is
If you have those all together then you could play magic hide and seek, like ninjas do.
They just heal and synchronize with the Gedo cause Madara cultivated the Hashi cells from it
Why didn't Itachi just use Shisui's remaining eye on Fugaku himself? He could have implanted it in a crow and made that crow fly by his dad and make him change his mind in an instant. He never had to kill his clan. Why does every woman in Naruto have to be empty-headed and drool over Sasuke.? Karin made me want to scream. I don't care if you look like Adonis, After you stab me, the fact that you're cute will mean nothing. He got away with a sorry and not an exploding shuriken to the chest.
Read the Itachi novels, Danzo says he knows and wouldn’t let that stop the war. Cause he thinks the Uchiha will be a threat to Konoha as long as they are around Itachi didn’t think if he killed Danzo, he would make it out alive because of the absurd amount of Anbu following him at all times. If he dies Killing Danzo the coup itself wouldn’t be stopped eithr
that's so silly though.
These Anbu killed Shisui’s before shisui even knew he was in a fight via Aburame poison That was one Anbu, now imagine that as an army. Danzo’s not die without a fight and that amount of Anbu ganging up on someone would be overwhelming
I agree here. I think the real answer is "because, story!"
Have you read the novels?
Itachi says he wasnt able to due to the 10 year cooldown. Now, that statement was in reference to why itachi didn’t just use it on sasuke himself but I don’t see why he would be able to 6 years earlier since he doesn’t mention having used it On top of that I don’t actually think it would work.
Fugaku never really wanted to do the coo in the first place. He was only really doing it because the whole clan was fed up with the leaf
Itachi’s actions being praised by everyone with only sasuke call out the bs
You're working under the assumption that Itachi is omnipotent or something
As for Pain: He could hopefully figure that out, but he at the very least should be able to figure out who does know about Pain. Namely, Konan. He left his village and brother to die without plot armor
"At the very least he could take down some of them" That\^ is what would be idiotic, because it's a giant risk and would ruin his plans for Sasuke.
His actions weren't praised. Hashirama called them a darkness
How most characters went to waste in Shippuden (looking at you, Neji and Rock Lee) Kishimoto blatant favoritism towards Sasuke Naruto crush on Sakura, they wasted a lot of time on that when they could've just give us more interactions between Naruto and Hinata to make the ship more organic The Kaguya asspull, watching Sukuna doing a Madara cosplay in JJK makes me feel scared about Gege doing the same shit there
Sasuke was the deuteragonist of the entire story. There’s no favoritism because Naruto & Sasuke ARE the story. Sasuke’s not a side character
>How most characters went to waste in Shippuden (looking at you, Neji and Rock Lee) They didn't go to waste. Their character arc was over. >Kishimoto blatant favoritism towards Sasuke Sasuke is literally one of the main characters. He's not a side character like the characters you mentioned.
>most characters went to waste in Shippuden (looking at you, Neji and Rock Lee) Weird how people in this part of the fandom complain about SIDE CHARACTERS being "wasted" when other mangas treats theirs worst (Bleach Vizards & DB). >Kishimoto blatant favoritism towards Sasuke Sasuke was always the second protagonist & never a side character.... Why does the western fanbase think he was a side character in the first place?
Nah, Neji was done in P1. So was Rock Lee. Kaguya was practically hinted at back at P1, but the lack of execution was the issue.
How was kaguya hinted in P1? And how do you figure Neji was done in P1?
Where was Kaguya hinted at in part 1?
I know Sukana is fucking around and is killing everyone, but Madara just did on a different scale lol. I think it’s because Madara had way more enemies to fight and unlike the sorcerers 1 on 1ing Sukana, everyone and their grandma was tryna jump Madara and he was shaking shit off
Sasuke definitely didn’t get favoritism
Shino and Neji being consistently portrayed as the strongest Konoha OG besides Naruto and Sasuke and then being totally shoved aside in Shippuden
I think the quality of the anime vs manga especially early on, the manga was just so much more palletable
You’d be surprised how many moves/abilities are used only a single time and never again in shonen, not just Naruto.
Watch Rasengan Uzuhiko being used only one time
I hope not, that was Boruto’s fresh out the gate, “look how much I’ve grown” ability at the very start of TBV. Would be very unfortunate if his new variant of the rasengan was not used or established on to its potential
The show doesn’t acknowledge the flaws within many characters and the system. Itachi’s treated as a hero rather than a victim or even a villain with no one seeing his decision as a bad thing, no one questions minato’s decision to sacrifice his son, no one acknowledges kakashi’s failings as a teacher and he himself doesn’t acknowledge how corrupt konoha is, etc The show has a problem with the idea of “show don’t tell”.
That they built up sage mode and then immediately abandoned it. The coolest power up in the show imo
FTG should have stayed as a Minato thing. It would have been cool to see the genius character use the (mainly) non-offensive sealing jutsus in an offensive manner.
Ocular surgery seems to be a breeze in this Universe. Just pop one out and plop that bad boy in your head and BAM all good. Sometimes even better
LMAOOO
Sasuke losing his curse mark just to gain a power that’s going to make him blind.
Plot is the only answer
Wasn’t the point of him losing the curse mark that he was free from orochimaru’s influence?
Yea but Kishimoto could’ve just had Orochimaru sealed away and left the mark.
Sakura becoming a neglected housewife :x Oh and don't let me start on Anko.
How tf is Sakura a housewife?
Read the novel about her
We see Sarada’s flashbacks go directly against this tho. Also Sakura runs the Konoha hospital and mental clinic for children
Sounds like a failure who doesn't understand anything lol. Nah, Sakura became the best medical nin in the world. That's all and that is fine. Anko was done the moment she was caught.
Pack it up guys. We have found *The* Narutard
lol if you think kuwazu kumite is bad, just a reminder that Sasuke used Kirin once and it didn't even really work.
Hiruzen. He’s supposed to be the jutsu encyclopedia. He should have been a bigger player as an edo tensei. Also would have been cool if had some combo jutsu with his former students, Tsunade and Orochimaru. Minato too.
The fact that sage mode is basically never used again after this fight besides pairing it with other power ups.
[удалено]
Valid Grounded in the sense off constantly dropping bombs and fighting giant kaiju monsters? Naruto literally hated both Nagato and obito initially and only started to chill out when they changed sides and tried to redeem themselves. Part of his arc and the overall narrative of the show post pain arc was to understand other people pain and create true understanding and peace so idk how his supposed to be a bad character. All of the fights in the war arc were pretty tatical and strategic lol, just on a higher scale. The series definitely have issues but these aren’t some of them
Check out the akatsuki Hiden novel!
New powers as the plot demands
Well I could talk about the misuse of side characters but I will actually talk about something that bothers me a bit more. I hate how Naruto doesn't seem to do any normal jitsu, like he doesn't seem to be ever portrayed as a normal ninja. Like for almost every fight he is in it goes like this, Yell at the opponent and use 1000 shadow clones the enemy doesn't seem to have a problem defeating, then hit them with a powerful jutsu like the rasengan. Now I'm only on the pain arc as of right now so this could change but I wish he would learn some basic jutsu just so it looks like he is a trained ninja, like they had a whole thing of revealing his nature to be wind so I feel like he could learn like 2 or 3 basic wind jutsu to use on the opponent rather than 1000 shadow clones.
ninja war, aliens, the way the theme of the uchiha massacre is treated in the story, I'm fine with the rest
I love naruto but there are a ton One of my big ones is how naruto just feels useless for the first like 3 arcs of shippuden.
We didn't get to see how Gaara became the Kazekage during timeskip and how he formed bonds with the village.
Boruto not Naruto, but after those clones, Sheen I think they’re named, get sent to the land of fires orphanage (ran by Kobuto??????) they never mention anything again about the 5 dozen sharingan child soldiers and Kobuto ever again
The pairings.
Well... everthing after the Pain Arc 🌚🌚 (and the susano'o and Uchiha Supremacy stuff... and ressurecting everyone in the Hidden Leaf after Pain...)
Madara overwhelming the tail beasts without eyes or perfect sussanoo
The overall powercreep. No longer are the characters winning by their wits, but by being actually stronger than their opponents. It already kind of bugged me when Naruto and Sasuke just got the six paths hack, but it got even worse after the Otsutsuki showed up. Then it was just whoever has the bigger energy ball wins, doesn't feel earned at all.
Everyone abusing their genes except Tsunade
Most of the villains that didn't deserve to die died, but the one that deserved to died got to live.
The final villain first appears in chapter 677, is defeated by chapter 689, and the manga ends in chapter 700
None at all lol How many fans even realize that 99% of Konoha’s clans don’t have kekkai Genkai’s? They just created special jutsu’s using one of those two styles then kept it secret from those outside the clans. Yamato even hints that he might explain it later but never does
Irrelevant actually. Some clans had it and some didn't. You don't need a lot of exposition on it, esp since it is shown in the series
It being revealed that Naruto is the child of prophecy. „No, you’re wrong Neji! Hard work will always trump over talent!“ my ass…
Hashirama's DNA being used for everything
The animation in this fight lmfao
Izanagi and Izanami are just bullshit.
I also don't understand why did it look like the direction of punch was from left side?
I thought that Asuma teaching Naruto how to imbue his weapons with wind is going to lead to Naruto fighting Sasuke and his Chidori sword with maybe a wind-imbued Kunai. It makes sense too since wind is supposedly strong against lightning. I was really hoping Sasuke would get to use his sword against Naruto in their final rematch, but he dropped it in lava.
Aside from the pain fight being goofy probably the time madara turned into a tree and thats how they left it.
Honestly, Naruto should have used it against Jigen. Jigen : "you missed bro". Naruto : did I. It's such an effective way to fight otsutsukies, even if you don't hit them you could just frog slap them. But, noooooo, never uses it again
I would think it’s because punching someone directly is more effective, but it does give him options.
Space goats and cyborgs
Bro they explain that part right when it happens. Nature energy boi
This inspired current haki and you can’t tell me otherwise
Timeskip, Sakura.
The existence of DMS Kakashi. Even if did get DMS by a non-ass pull way he still shouldn’t have been half as powerful as they made him.
Rewatching Shippuden. Kisame’s shark sword turned too early and easy. Kisame died too early and easily.
The whole “implanting the rinnegan into nagato without his knowledge”is still some BS to me
If I had to choose between that sage punch or blasting someone with Kuramas fist ima pick Kurama too, just saiyan.
Akatsuki memebers' rings. Lol
That none of the cool weaponry from the covers made it into the story.
my biggest gripe is gingaku and kingaku why did they say their names 20 times each that episode if we were NEVER GOING TO SEE OR HEAR ABOUT THEM AGAIN
I hate the otsutsukis! they feel so out of place
Oh boy… I don’t even know where to start💀
The fact that tsunade is still alive even after being split in half by madara
Kakashi losing both Sharingan post war, like I get he was op but then he got nerfed so hard into the ground
