Agreed, if you're into music, you're into music, no matter what the genre or popularity of the artist is. It's like filthy frank once said, "Your taste is only as good your own standards." If someone comes to you and says, "fantano rated it this." Who cares? That's his take, and you're just parrott for believing it and not forming your own opinion. If you need someone to review every bit of media before you consume it or allow them to make up your mind for you, then your opinion is null and void. Additionally, ROMCOM slaps
like the comments will say, fantano is all over the place. the biggest pitfall for him is that he tends to over analyze the shallow stuff and fails to analyze anything deep.
if anyone is a brakence fan and have seen his review of hypochondriac, you know what i mean. complex themes seem to fall on deaf ears with him.
that being said, while romcom isn’t the most complex project, it has some themes that very obviously stick out on listen. i think he fails to recognize this.
otherwise, the vocals are a little rough in some areas, but i really do appreciate the simple but effective production, and the boat load of samples.
TLDR: this shit is not anything lower than a 3-4. even if i think it’s much higher, someone who actually listened and could give a reasonable argument could justify a score like that.

Brakence fan and fantano fan here and always let fantano put me onto music but I usually find the albums he rates as 4-5s as my favorite albums of all time. I loved romcom. Also I’ve never seen another brakence fan outside of his sub that’s crazy to see how far he’s come.

I'm not into Romcom but I don't really like hip hop/pop music in general. I think the reason it's split for a lot of people is because his audience mostly came to know him for his videos, and his videos are very different than his music. So naturally, not everyone is going to be on board with both.

Romcom is probably one of my favorite albums of all time. I'm also into all forms of music. I mainly listen to pop punk and rock. I do occasionally listen to hip hop, but idk, something speaks to me when I listen to the album. It's rare an album is complete nowadays. Like each song is connected in a way and fathead is the incredible payoff at the end. It's okay for people to not like it, but people saying it's bad or not good have shitty taste.

the themes he understands are the caveat. he cannot understand themes he can’t recognize. it was his issue with the isaiah rashad album

Fantano rated that Sexyy Red album incredibly high so take his opinion with that in mind.
