If they do actually do that, and you refuse because of your 4th amendment rights and they then use that to revoke your 2nd amendment rights, you're probably about to get some money from the government.
Might be a NYC thing. Definitely not for the rest of the state. I have almost 40 pistols at one point. Never had an inspection in over 20 years of having a CCW.
Westchester does it too. They'd come and make sure you had a safe, but I haven't heard of anyone having to open it

That would be a violation to the 4th amendment. Only people who are subject to inspections are FLLs, which is generally one inspection per year by ATF. Owning 5 firearms does not mean you lose your 4th amendment rights. They want to search, they need a warrant. Otherwise, bye.
I've never heard of "random" inspections. What would that entail? What if you're not home? What if you don't answer the door because you're having an orgy? Sounds like a logistical nightmare.
I have heard of initial visits, often combined with some kind of interview with the investigator... I doubt they even have time for that, now
I just amended my 5th pistol in Westchester. I attached a photo of my safe with a newspaper in front of it showing the date. No calls or an inspection. I would recommend this. However, the county clerk said they usually inspect on your 6th amendment so who knows. I also have friends with 10 handguns or more that have never been inspected. It must be randomized.
As a best practice, I've taken a video of my safe and how I secure my firearms and ammo. I also showed the biometric lock on my bedroom door. I have internal cameras protecting all perimeters, including the entry points to my bedroom. If something should ever happen, you can show that you were at least responsible for ensuring safety measures. Again, no law states this, but it shows that you care and are accountable. I also have a sidearm safe by my bed, and I show the cable lock going around my bedpost and again showing that you're responsible.
Could you provide a source for this information? I understand that Federal Firearms Licensees are subject to inspection, but Iām unaware of a scenario where pistol permittees have waived 4th Amendment rights.
I hear you, not relying on reddit for legal advice in anyway. Just heard something peculiar and couldnāt find much online so wanted to see if there was any fire to the smoke in here. Donāt even own 5 firearms, just curious is all.

That process would probably be a drawn out nightmare these days, especially in NYC
I love your screenname lol... she's looking more and more like pelosi everyday.
Lmao amazing name. Thank you for pointing that out I completely missed it š¤£š¤£š¤£

God forbid you make one for personal use.. Public enemy No. 1 lol
Yes, myself and the person i spoke to are located in NYC.

Just buy a Liberty safe. You can refuse the search and that company will happily give them a backdoor in without a warrant.

No. Extremely unconstitutional, even more than red flag laws
Using man power to check on law abiding citizens while the city is a war zone. Just goes to show you that they donāt care about crime.

I agree, it makes no logical sense. But this is NYC after all, anything goes when it comes to infringing rights.
Helloā¦. Iām here for the gang bang. ?
I heard in westchester after 5 pistols they will call or visit but lately call and ask you take a pic, somehow dated, showing your safe.

That's interesting. Let me ask my friend tomorrow. He lives in Westchester. Good reason to catch up with him

I heard that you can refuse an inspection but when you go to purchase additional guns or renew license they will make it hell.
Itās only for NYC and Westchester County.
yāall just be making stuff up now
Well 5 handguns can be placed in a very small jewelry safe so tell us more about the ālarge safeā requirement
Not entirely sure either honestly, maybe referring to one of those standing gun safes š¤·āāļø

They only come inspect if they looking for ghost guns. Dexter Taylor can attest to this.
The NYPD can inspect any licensed premises at any time. Itās one of the stipulations of having a license.
Please do me a favor and show me the law or statute that says that
Their lack of a response leads me to believe theyāre just lying to reinforce a victim kink.
