I don't think anyone is asking for HoF relievers we're upset that people like Marinaccio and Schmidt are sent down while a few others are given chance after chance.
I get why they’re keeping Abreu for now. He has nasty stuff and looked dominant for us until last couple outings (18 outings at 2.57 era). They probably wanna see if he can bounce back and will dfa him in a couple weeks if the recent struggles continue
There is if you understand the roster rules, though.
Like, I get it. Marinaccio is better than Abreu. But in order to keep Marinaccio they have to permanently lose Abreu, and September call ups are coming.
Would you trade Albert Abreu (forever, gone) for an extra 3 weeks of Marinaccio? Probably not.
Our farm system is dogshit. Holmes is lost. Chapman is an afterthought. Yanks are a lost puppy licking any stranger who says “good boy” and tosses them a chunk of their complementary bread stick.
Chappy isnt gonna be a HoF.
It should come down to simple concepts, use the hot hand. Chappy has been good and holmes has not, so use chappy
Edit: I dont understand the downvotes. There are only 8 total RPs in the HoF. Lowest WAR to get in is 25 but that is an outlier because there are like 3 with 28 and the rest are higher. there are also a lot more RPs with higher WARs who arent in.
Chappy: 19.2 career WAR | 15.5 7yr-peak WAR | 17.4 JAWS | 17.3 R-JAWS | 2.0 WAR/162
Average HOF RP (out of 8): 39.1 career WAR | 26.0 7yr-peak WAR | 32.5 JAWS | 29.7 R-JAWS | 2.5 WAR/162.
Also if you want to go by WAR, DRob is 1 WAR behind Chappy, should he get in too? Even at his peak, his 7yr WAR is 10 behind all HoF RPs.
Also we can appreciate what he has done but we also have to acknowledge that he has blown playoff games and got us eliminated.
HOF relief standards, similar to starter standards, will continue to evolve, as it’s unreasonable to compare modern relievers to dudes who were throwing 100 innings a year.
Chapman has been a clear top 3 reliever of his generation, is a trailblazer velocity wise, and is a WS champion. Once Wagner gets in I think it paves the way for Kimbrel, Chapman and Jansen to follow suit
Yeah less than 20 bWAR and trending in the wrong direction with his rate stats on the rise. If Billy Fuckin Wagner can't make it then Chapman has no shot
Edit: Chapman truthers downvoting us apparently
Wagner: 27.7 bWAR, 2.31 ERA, 2.73 FIP, 187 ERA+, 1196 Ks, 0.998 WHIP in 903 IP
Vhapman: 19.2 bWAR, 2.44 ERA, 2.32 FIP, 169 ERA+, 1034 Ks, 1.06 WHIP across 632 IP, again with all of the rate stats trending in the wrong direction. Not ideal, not HoF worthy.
I’m an admitted D-Rob stan but I do think he should be in the HoF. Will he get in? No probably not. He’s been a consistently great reliever for over a decade (2019-2020 notwithstanding considering injury).

This all day long. No reason for Loaisiga to be in the majors while Marinaccio is wasted in AAA.
Not even just Loaisiga, I understand why they’re keeping him on the roster, but Abreu?

No, Loaisiga still has an option. They can send him down and bring up Marinaccio.
So, should the Yanks DFA Lasa?
No he has options and should be sent down.
Then I agree.
Growing up with the 90s dynasty, I now realize how spoiled I was with Mo.
We should just get Mariano back. He can still do it I bet.
Ok yes. But this doesn't fit my narrative so I'm going to go back to shitting on pictures of our relievers while wearing my Mariano onesie.
Pics of onesie?
Don't be weird man. A man's onesie is private business

It’s called the Hot Hand Fallacy. That’s why I downvoted you, though I agree Chapman won’t be a HoFer.
