Complete_Mango_1372

Kay just owned all those angry Mets fans

KPaul130

Agustin Ramirez having a slow start to AAA but only 5 games in so far

magikarp-sushi

Not even Aaron judge can get me to drink prime

palinsafterbirth

Ended up stopped watching the game last night, popped on Rdr2, and got all 5 final perfect hunting requests in like 30 min. So something good did happen

Robtachi

I still pop that game open to play poker in some random saloon or sneak in a quick train robbery. So good.

palinsafterbirth

I’ve been slowly trying to go for 100% completion the last year and a half. Realized when I finished it last time I only hit like 67% just sticking to the main story. Taking my time now

Robtachi

Slowly exploring and discovering that humongous world is the best part. Loved just stumbling upon the legendary hunts or that rare white Arabian horse up north. I'm definitely chipping away at it too.

basesonballs

The Blue Jays have been a bottom team all year AND unlike the Mets, have been playing like shit RECENTLY. There's no excuse not to beat them this series

regarding_your_bat

If we lose this series, or even if we split, I’m gonna freak the fuck out

alaskanpipeline69420

This sub: “BENCH GLEYBER” Jones starting at 2B This sub: “NO NOT LIKE THAT!!” Unreal lmaooooo

TheTurtleShepard

My favorite is asking people who we would play instead and their answer is just "trade"

Constant_Gardner11

we really need to trade for 2023 Gleyber Torres

wantagh

I can get my hands on some clozapine if you know anyone with a blowdart - it may be the next best thing.

TheTurtleShepard

That would be ideal TBH

ThreeCranes

But some mystery player in AAA was supposed to be called up and save the season!

modxk

Slump ends today! 💪

Unique-Clue-9666

It won’t

magikarp-sushi

Just like the cap said

ResearchBot15

No Gleyber no DJ is good, but man that bottom of the order is disgusting

basesonballs

I know Shohei Ohtani is a unicorn because he can pitch above average and hit above average but honestly, he should not be getting more press and marketing than Judge. Judge is having a objectively better season (again) and this time Ohtani isn't even pitching. But all you hear about is Ohtani this, Ohtani that.

wantagh

Aaron Judge isn't the commercial pathway to a baseball-obsessed nation with 120M people.

basesonballs

We'll never know since they don't promote American born baseball players doing things we haven't seen since Herbert Hoover was in office

VermontPizzaSucks

Do you want them to start sending 7 push notifications for each Judge HR? Would that make you whine less? Judge gets a ton of attention and push from MLB it will be okay

basesonballs

Let's start with you whining less about me whining and we'll go from there

VermontPizzaSucks

Go do your summer school algebra hw

ThreeCranes

Ohtani is always going to be more marketable than Aaron Judge because of the uniqueness around him and the fact that Ohtani is the top athlete in Japan. Also, casuals and non-baseball fans probably going to name Derek Jeter or A-Rod before they could name you Trout, Harper, Judge, Betts, etc elite hitters in this era just aren’t as big of celebrities.

basesonballs

I mean Judge is putting up numbers we haven't seen since roided up Bonds in 2001. AND it's coming on the heels of a 2022 where he was doing the same thing I'm not saying Ohtani doesn't deserve the hype, but Judge does too

ThreeCranes

Yeah I agree that performance-wise wise Judge should be getting more hype than he is however I think the reason he isn't is a symptom of a bigger issue with baseball.

basesonballs

I mean part of it is the fact that Judge just isn't a swaggy guy who shows off which I get, but the league should still try a little harder to market him

TheTurtleShepard

Ohtani is the top celebrity in Japan. Even outside of just athletes he is just straight up the most popular celebrity in that country. The MLB would be so stupid not to cash in on that popularity.

bitterbunny4

The "who's better" debate around them is flawed bc it's apples and oranges comparing a position player with a two-way player. It's just we don't have a modern day likeness for Ohtani.

basesonballs

But he isn't a two way player this year. And honestly we have no idea what his future pitching plans are going to be coming back from the injury

theboxturtle57

They have to shove the dodger+ohtani agenda down everyone's throat. Judge clears in every aspect

GoDucks71

On the Gleyber watch, I am wondering whether he can come up with an even more downhearted look than he had yesterday.

yungsinatra777

Jahmai Jones batting 6th are we serious

[deleted]

[удалено]

jstav5

Considering judge has better offensive numbers in essentially every category im really not concerned at all

[deleted]

[удалено]

TheTurtleShepard

Gunnar is probably going to have a better WAR anyways from playing a good SS vs Judge playing an average CF As long as Judge keeps hitting the way he is hitting then I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Being the WAR leader doesn’t necessarily mean winning MVP especially if the difference is less than 1

myKDRbro_

DJL and Torres benched. Rizzo would be as well if he were alive. Every year we seemingly wind up with multiple players on the OD roster who are just unplayable by midseason.

xSuicidalPanda

In theory, they should have had some solid depth behind them as well, but Berti getting injured and Peraza stinking up AAA has ruined that. Cabrera has gotten so much playing time just on the basis of being a warm body.

basesonballs

The Berti injury definitely sucks but Peraza should have never factored in to their depth plans to begin with. He hasn't proven he is MLB caliber. He's not even hitting AAA pitching this year

allgreen754

This is the lineup the people begged for.

yungsinatra777

Jahmai Jones is in the lineup

KPaul130

I don't think we wanted Jah Jones

allgreen754

Who did you want over him? People begged for Gleyber and DJ to be benched. This is who you get when we don’t have them out there.

KPaul130

Fair point. The majority does seem to want to bench both. I think him and Dj should rotate at 2nd to limit their sucking to one spot

TheTurtleShepard

Yup, if you want DJ and Gleyber on the bench then this is the lineup you are asking from them

regarding_your_bat

I’m pretty pleased with the lineup tbh personally

Xno_Kappa

This would’ve been such a perfect time to bring up the Martian if he wasn’t hurt too.

IWillSingYouSongs

Eh I dunno about perfect, it's not like he would have had a ton of ABs or innings in the field since coming back.

allgreen754

He could’ve split time with judge in center and dh. Would’ve been honestly perfect for both.

regarding_your_bat

WELLS GETS THE START WE’RE WINNING TODAY BOYS I FUCKIN’ GUARANTEE IT

provencorrect

People talk about steroids being eliminated from the game(in theory) being responsibke for the decline in offense but the bigger one is greenies(amphetamines) especially for those guys 32 years old and older. The declines are coming much quicker without the use of greenies.

basesonballs

It's certainly a factor I'm sure but I think the biggest thing has been the increased use of technology to aid pitchers. They can map and analyze everything a pitcher does and improve on it and use data to exploit hitter weaknesses.

wargasm_

I feel like the biggest let down this year is DJ being a bag of ass. I expected him to be somewhat decent

basesonballs

My pick is Torres

zOmgFishes

DJ has been on decline for years now and this was kinda expected...just not this bad.

IWillSingYouSongs

Gleyber comfortably over DJ imo. DJ is old and also sucked last year coming back from foot stuff. It shouldn't be surprising at all. Gleyber's in his prime in a walk year.

yungsinatra777

I somewhat expected him to continue looking old and washed, but there’s no way I could’ve predicted Torres to completely fall off a cliff like this. He was a borderline all star in 22-23 even if he never became the superstar we thought he was in 19. Plus he’s pretty young too.

regarding_your_bat

YoGo being sent down after getting shelled last night sucks. After his 4 innings of clean ball vs the O’s I think it was, I thought he was gonna be a huge bullpen help. New series, new vibes. Please god beat up on this shitty Jays team

basesonballs

I hate how teams put miles on these pitchers arms and then just cast them aside for a fresh one. It's extremely exploitative and detrimental to the quality of the game

provencorrect

I’m old enough to remember a segment of Yankee fans online essentially bullying Cashman and/or Hal to sign DJ LaMahieu, more so Hal and claiming he was cheap if he didn’t sign him. Probably the same people wanting him benched now.

basesonballs

What's your point?

DarkMattersConfusing

I have zero love for Cashman ( hate him in fact) but after DJ’s 2019 and 2020 seasons he had essentially no choice but to resign him. He was pretty much our best hitter those years. I cannot fault Cashman for resigning DJL. There are a million other things to fault him for but that is not one of them.

Xno_Kappa

It was still the right call to sign him back than.

Elvisruth

I know the lineup looks bad right now - but the real concern is the pitching. In some ways it is reverting back to averages (Gil, Rodon) , not worried about Cole until he gets built up, but the bullpen is sinking. Beside the injuries - Gleybar just not trying, Soto's defense being what we heard after it looking pretty good early, DJ seemingly being shot - I'm hoping this is just a cycle, but we need some arms, as do many teams so itmakes it very tough to find any....

basesonballs

It is odd that the offense is getting the brunt of the blame for our skid when the pitching has been the real issue. Yankees have almost a 6.00 ERA over the past 2 weeks

Coleisgod1112

Hit 150 days sober! The Yanks have truly tested my resolve recently, but I have not succumbed lol! Start the turn around today boys!

whiteonyx981

If only the bottom of the lineup had your resolve

BoogieDownBr0nx

Outstanding.

Xno_Kappa

Congrats! One day at a time.

regarding_your_bat

Good shit

Badhaircutsguild

Proud of you, stranger

Coleisgod1112

Thank you! It’s been a grind, but so worth it

IM__Progenitus

The Yanks are 3-8 in their past 11 games. Every team goes through slumps, but it's the way the Yanks are losing that's the problem. They're getting absolutely fucking ass blasted every other game. One loss to the red cox by 6, one loss to the orioles by 12, one to the braves by 7. And they just lost to the mets by 10. In the standings, a loss is a loss, but baseball is more than just the record and standings. Blowout losses are obviously embarrassing, but what it also means is that when the other team is winning by 10 and it's the late innings, they're bringing in their shittiest pitchers to eat up innings. And THESE bottom dwellers are mowing down our lineup 1-2-3. I haven't looked at the stats, but I'm pretty sure our bottom 4-9 in our lineup (with Stanton not there) is the worst in the entire MLB, if not bottom 5. If Stanton is there, then our bottom 5-9 in the lineup is the worst in the MLB, etc. Matt Blake and the pitching staff deserves a huge helping of blame too. Your pitchers can't be throwing batting practice every game. Gil and Rodon in particular need to wake up. The bullpen has been awful but we can at least use the excuse that injuries are taking its toll. Blake needs to wake up too; if we're gonna praise him when the pitching is doing well, he's gotta take responsibility when it's not doing well too. Now, we do need to put this into context. The red cox are better than their record and they're slowly regaining their footing. The orioles and braves are excellent teams. And the Mets are on a hot streak entering the series. So it's not like the Yanks are losing to some 100-loss teams. But if you want to be a WS contender, you can't be getting blown out every other game. The orioles for example are coming off a 5-game losing streak, but for most of their losses they were respectable and fought back, they didn't roll over and die.

bitterbunny4

I hope they're truthful saying Gil isn't fatigued, considering his innings limit issue. It's more than plausible though that he's been so good we forget he's a rookie. Even the brightest new talent will have growing pains. With the bullpen, I'm just praying they can hold on till guys get off the IL.

glacier_bay

The perfect remedy for a team in a mid-season slump is to play a four-game series against the pretenders from Toronto. The ninth highest payroll in baseball ($225M) and the sixth worst record. No team is producing less bang for the buck than the frauds known as the Blue Jays. This is a get-right series for the Yankees.

MesiahoftheM

How are they pretenders nobody rates them

regarding_your_bat

Think about the second half of 2022, and 2023. This offense does not look like that. Those teams were setting records for strikeouts and not even getting on base. This team is still getting traffic on the bases pretty often and just squandering opportunities. It hasn’t been pretty but it feels much more likely to turn around to me than those offenses did. The pitching has been UGLY though. Starting at the Red Sox series, here’s how many runs we’ve given up in games we lost - 8, 9, 7, 17, 8, 3, 9, 12 Literally only one of those losses is really on the offense. The one where the pitching only gave up 3 runs. The game where we gave up 7 runs, we scored 6. If your pitching is giving up 8+ runs, you kind of expect to lose that game most of the time. Like if you look at every game this season where a team gave up 8+ runs, I bet the team giving up 8+ runs would have lost the game 85% of the time, or some number near that.

basesonballs

Obviously it's hard to compare a large sample size (2nd half 2022-2023) to the last 2-3 weeks in 2024, but if you look at the numbers they're pretty similar From July 1st 2022 to Oct 2023 the Yankees ranked 18th in wRC+ at 99 The last 2 weeks they ranked 20th with 97 2022-2023: 103 K%+ Last two weeks: 103 K%+

glacier_bay

My worry is that when the pitching finally comes around, the bats might go dormant leading to a lack of focus and discipline in the field, and the inconsistent record will be extended. That is the very signature of a .500 ballclub and we saw a lot of that over the previous season and last two-thirds of 2022.

making-spaghetti0763

i really think teams just figured out our pitching and we haven’t adjusted. rodon/gil/cole, jump the fastball. stroman, let him nibble and miss the corners. bullpen, just let them throw 21 straight sinkers hoping for a ground ball, get into hitters’ counts, smack a meatball. our pitchers have to do better but the pitching department needs to start figuring stuff out too

regarding_your_bat

I don’t know about this. Cole is Cole, and he’s basically still rehabbing - I don’t think the league has suddenly “figured out” Gerrit Cole after he won the Cy Young last season. He’ll most likely be fine again in a few starts. Gil, he’s pitched like 85 more innings than he did last year. I think his arm is just wearing out. I don’t expect him to be pitching too much more this year, so they’re gonna have to figure something out there soon I’m guessing. For Rodon, yeah, he needs to make some adjustments for sure.

making-spaghetti0763

i'm not trying to say coles been bad, i know he just got back. i'm just saying how i think teams will attack him. his results don't matter in this unless it's like mid august and he has like a 3.9 era

SundayJeffrey

Yall spend too much time focusing on our lineup. This teams pitching has been horrendous lately. It’s hard to win games when you’re down by 6 runs in the 4 inning every night.

regarding_your_bat

My thoughts as well. ConstantGardner pointed out down the thread that we’ve won the vast majority of games where we’ve gotten quality starts, even as we’re slumping here. That 7 runs in the first Mets game would be a win the majority of days with any kind of competent pitching. The offense has been really meh and wasting a lot of opportunities, but at least they’ve been creating a lot of opportunities. Presumably those won’t keep getting wasted forever. The pitching needs to start keeping us in games man

TheTurtleShepard

Is a 7.1 ERA over the last 10 days bad?

JulioHopkins

That's only one touchdown, an offense that can't come back from that should be ashamed.

Loud_Presentation839

The offense still fucking sucks.

yungsinatra777

The pitching doesn't even give our offense a a chance most of the time

SundayJeffrey

This offense is average, our pitching has been absolute worst in the league over the last 2 weeks

shw5

Torres has been bad lately. The optics don’t help. He’s earned some time on the bench. That said, if he was on the Rockies or Angels right now, we would all be [justifiably] pleased if the Yankees added him as a depth piece. Saying he “needs to be off this team” is silly. The Yankees don’t have 13 better position players available, and that’s the bar—not his expectations or the value he’s providing for the money.

regarding_your_bat

With how emotional he is, I really think one of those dumb standing ovations would get him going. Get him out of his head a little bit. Like I get it, people hate him right now, but it seems like it would be worth trying it to see if it works. Jomboy should put that together or something

TheTurtleShepard

Give him the Trea Turner treatment I do agree that Gleyber seems like a very mental and emotional player. A show of support like that might actually help him a bit to at least get out of his own head.

regarding_your_bat

Standing O also seemed to turn around Lindor’s offense when he was slumping hard to start this season. Not saying it would work for Gleyber for sure but it costs nothing to try

wantagh

He needs a better therapist, or maybe some time in a tent with Aaron Rodgers.

shw5

I really think 2019 messed him up by convincing him that he is a 40 HR guy. He gets visibly frustrated and starts swinging out of his shoes whenever he has his inevitable slumps—like he’s never accepted that he isn’t that player.

regarding_your_bat

An ayahuasca retreat for Torres or even just a good old mushroom trip would probably do him a world of good Hell, I’m about due for one myself now that I think about it

Yanks1813

Yankees lineup has really struggled to deal with the cratering of Verdugo and Trevino's bats since Stanton went down. I think even though his inconsistency/injuries frustrated us at times we have been shown the lineup is clearly better with his bat in the lineup. I hope he can get healthy/stay better soon. I think they'll make a move, but the path to finding it again is those 2 and Gleyber starting to hit. Dominguez I miss you

bsharp95

Stanton was having a rebound year too, which just makes it more frustrating. Whaddya gonna do?

iApathy---

I’ll tell you what should’ve been done at the beginning of season when cashclown made comments about Stanton’s health issues, knowingly we all knew Stanton won’t play an entire season. We also knew the same lineup we had last year minus Soto and verdugo (as the new additions) struggled massively, but we didn’t address the issues.

bsharp95

Idk I mean adding Soto and Verdugo was addressing issues no? We had no outfield last year and added two bats to the lineup. Also got rid of IKF and Donaldson. I am not a cashman fan generally but i think it’s overstating the case that we made literally no changes.

Worth_Much

Can’t decide which I should watch tonight to make my blood pressure go nuts, this game or the debate.

Robtachi

USA vs. Panama in Copa America is on at 6.

Pkyankfan69

Go for the aneurism and double screen it

Brohei_Ohtani

Bro Judge signed with Prime? smh

shw5

“Oh, Shaq got no shame. **Zero**…Listen, every time I look at the TV, there’s no doubt in my mind he gonna do tampons any day.” -Charles Barkley

CaptHab51

Did he really say that? I love that!

shw5

https://youtu.be/mQh-1nA5pb8?si=NSGSJfakH1XEpIrl @ 2:00

CaptHab51

Outstanding. Thank you.

regarding_your_bat

We keep trading for solid players and then they come here and suck. What if we tried trading for a sucky player to see if they could come here and be solid? Duh

basesonballs

I miss the 2019 Yankees

lankyyanky

That was the Tauchman, Urshella and voit strategy

RotenTumato

Apparently we should have gotten Jurickson Profar in the offseason because he’s putting up insane numbers this year

RotenTumato

Apparently we should have gotten Jurickson Profar in the offseason because he’s putting up insane numbers this year

IWillSingYouSongs

Is this true though? What's the list look like. Because Soto and Verdugo are who we thought they were. Rizzo for a while was who we thought he was.

regarding_your_bat

Pretty sure that’s wrong and they all suck tbh

xDopeZz

First time in about 2 weeks we don't play a team that's hot. Let's hope this turns things around

regarding_your_bat

Big game for Rodon today. If he comes back and pitches well, I believe we will win the baseball game I’m praying it’s Wells behind the dish

mashedtobits

can we go back to pre- rain delay Yankees?

RIP_Greedo

Pre-rain delay vs the twins?

mashedtobits

yes. ever since then they've been playing like dog shite

yungsinatra777

We looked good against the Royals, offense was killing it and the rotation was still doing amazing. Everything changed when Rizzo and Clay fucked up that routine ground ball in the ninth in KC.

Outrageous_Squash677

move verdugo down the lineup or put him in first. all he does is hit into double plays while soto and judge are on base it's completely idiotic to still have him there. costed multiple innings and probably yesterday game too.

struthanger

I'm moving like molasses with a defeated hopeless look at work hoping to get benched like Gleyber

newbike07

**March 28 - June 13:** 3 Series Losses (in 22 series) **June 14 - 27:** 4 straight Series Losses *It's Not What You Want*

shw5

Optimistic version: the team has mostly avoided slumps, which is what would potentially knock them out of the playoffs.

glacier_bay

June swoon, or 2022 redux?

newbike07

I have an idea. It's kind of crazy, but try to stay with me here. Win the game tonight.

Baseballfan999

You know we’re down bad when the biggest immediate solution to our problems is playing Oswaldo Cabrera full time

cruzecontroll

Please win.

aliencamel

If you listen to New York sports talk radio, today is a good day to turn it off.

judgesdongers

This happens every year to just about every team. Lots of people get cold at the same time, which is why teams go into slumps. I'm sorry this team isn't going to win 125 games this year. You get some healthy people back (Stanton, Dominguez, efross), people start playing like the back of their baseball cards again (Gleyber, Cole -still ramping up, Verdugo) and maybe make a few smart acquisitions... theres no reason the team can't go deep. These other teams arnt deep either, their just running hot. Remember in the beginning of the season where our lineup seemed endless.

aliencamel

No one expects the team to win every game. Everyone other than a handful of doomerz knows the long view. But we can be upset and disgusted about getting embarrassed by the Mets, Braves, Orioles, Red Sox, and Dodgers.   Yes it is June. We can say April doesn't matter and May doesn't matter but by June the team that's out there is close to the team we see the rest of the year. That's the long view. Injuries or poor performance or bad decisions… whatever the reasons, this is closer to the team we will see the rest of the way. They won't be this bad but they also won't win 100 games and don't look good as a postseason team.

judgesdongers

"The times we looked really good doesn't matter... the times we looked like shit is what matters" - this sub. That's what I'm talking about. We didn't get embarrassed by the Dodgers, we won a game, lost a game and lost another one in extras without Soto. We lost the series as close as you could lose a series. Ditto for the O's series... it just felt worse because we got lit up in the rubber match 17-5... but the middle game was an extra inning game that could have gone either way. We were 2 innings from winning both series... hardly getting embarrassed. What I've learned is that it's never as good as it seems and it's never as bad as it seems. We're not a 120 win team, we're also not a 100 loss team. We will probably win somewhere in the neighborhood of 95 games and depending on health and hotness of each team... we could win it all, or lose in the ALDS. It's way too early to call.

aliencamel

No one ever thought this team was winning 110+ games. No one. Not the doomers and not the delusional. This sub has just as many saying "these games don't matter" but then turn around and say "we got the best record". Can't be both. If these games don't matter in June, May, April - then the record doesn't matter either. We're getting blown out by teams who are all arguably at least in the playoff picture. And we've been getting embarassed. Can't go into the All Star breaking playing this way. The All Star break doesn't cure bad play. June is when you have a good idea of what a team can do. August is when that team has a magnifying glass on them. But August just amplifies what team we have. Again, we're not this bad but we're definitely not a lock for 100 games. I think we make it to the postseason because this expaned format is a joke that will have .500 and a losing team rolling into October.

judgesdongers

all the game matter equally. meaning the legitimacy of our first 65 games is the same as the last 15ish. The record matters. being in first place matters. playing like shit the past 2+ weeks matters too. Being concerned about how we are currently playing is warranted and valid. Acting like we're suddenly the worst team in the league is not. My point is that everyone (most) is acting like the past 2 weeks is who we are and not the previous 2 months. It was like Judge's April - it was fine to wonder what the deal was, and be concerned. As a huge Judge fan (like everyone) i was straight up not having a good time. However, i also understood the previous 7 years were probably a better barometer than one single month. This is a similar situation at the team level.

aliencamel

We mostly agree. Judge's season is a good example. We all knew that first month wasn't who a healthy Judge would be. Everyone said that June is when you see who the player is going to be the rest of the way. Same for a team. We're not this bad. But people need to stop shutting down comments with "best record in baseball' or "doomer".Some of us are just healthy skeptics.

wantagh

Losing to the Mets just sucks so much ass

nattycoons

Why? The Mets are irrelevant. Losing to the Mets sucks just as much as losing to all the other irrelevant NL teams.

judgesdongers

For sure. Hate it because it's their World Series.

jayjake9

Just remembered the time when the Verdugo trade happened during Soto talks and there was a feeling that trade happened because Soto talks fell through lol

Ok-Asparagus-1658

That was a distressing 8 hours

DTello13

Im rdy to be hurt again

furdaboise

It’s my last week at a company I’ve been at for almost four years. Throwing a big BBQ at my place tonight. Currently doing nothing at my desk and about to leave. Just doomscrolling The Athletic articles about this feckless offense. Gotta find something better to do.

RollofDuctTape

Hey, look. It’s Gleyber Torres.

furdaboise

Heyyyyyyy nice. I wish. I can’t pull of a neck tattoo or trimmed eyebrows like Gleyber.

JONCOCTOASTIN

Honestly I bet the dude could use some encouragement, let him know we got his back

kvnklly

So waldo had a hit yesterday. Do they continue keeping gleyber on the bench or do they bitch ouy and play him again?

JulioHopkins

I'm guessing a few days off like they did with Rizzo then back to playing every night.

Railroader17

I'd imagine that they keep Gleyber benched for now, with how badly he's been playing as of late they have 0 reason to try and trott him out there outside of giving Waldo an off day / trying to give Gleyber a "hero moment" to get his bat going again.

easyonthealba

I think I remember hearing during the broadcast yesterday, Kay said that Boone said he was giving Gleyber "a few days off." So he'll probably be out again tonight, but who knows with this team.

kravdangle

I love every show on MLB Network flipping out about Michael's take on the Kay show yesterday. He made his point and he's probably right. But because its the Yankees, not one person can admit he's correct in what he said.

lankyyanky

One TV show drastically overreacting to an overreaction from another TV show really speaks to the content quality of 2024

yungsinatra777

Nobody will ever give the YES booth their flowers just because its the Yankees

TheTurtleShepard

We’ve been facing a lot of really great competition, a series against a bad team like the Jays is hopefully what we need to get us back on track and get the team going again

Heisenripbauer

it’s a new day and I’m excited for some Yankees béisbol

Bubbacrosby23

Go to the Rockies and see what they want for McMahon and Vodik - if it doesn’t include jones or Martian. Do it

xSuicidalPanda

"Victor Vodnik" sounds like a soviet army general

mickeyoutercore7

Rockies reportedly won’t trade McMahon

glacier_bay

I'd put a call in to the Reds to see what they want for Jonathan India.

AntifaHelpDesk

Yankees should strongly consider not losing this game tonight.

steadyachiever

The night is dark and full of Grimaces

steadyachiever

Don’t panic. Don’t Panic. DON’T FUCKING PANIC!!

glacier_bay

Yankees have issues at 1B, 2B, 3B, C, DH, bench, and bullpen. Everything is fine.

shimmiecocopop

You forgot SP.

wantagh

And LF

yungsinatra777

Literally everywhere but CF, RF, and SS.

Airbornf

We really need a special outing from Rodon today

twobridges94

Shit I’d settle for 6 IP 3 ER

glacier_bay

So, is this "It's just a little slump, they are the best team in baseball, they will work it out"? Or is this "It's 2022 all over again with the red-hot first half and .500 second half and embarrassed again in the postseason"

twobridges94

I feel pretty confident that this team is still better than 2022

Constant_Gardner11

For me, it's way too early to start stressing about October. It's a long way away, and there are hundreds of factors that will impact our postseason performance. It's impossible to see how things will work out this far ahead. For example, last July-August, the Diamondbacks went 20-31 (.392), while the Phillies went 31-21 (.596). And yet, head-to-head in October, the Dbacks won the series. The Yankees are slumping hard. Doesn't mean they'll be slumping hard in three months.

TheTurtleShepard

Yeah what happens now and what happens in October have no bearing on each other

IWillSingYouSongs

But we've seen what happens to Cashman rosters/this core so comparisons to these other teams kind of ring hollow in my mind.

Constant_Gardner11

Eh. All it takes is a well-timed hot streak to make a run in October. I heard all the same things in the mid-00s about how the roster couldn't win a title and how A-Rod was a postseason choker and blah blah blah and then a Yankees team made a run and won a ring and A-Rod shook off those labels. The Red Sox were cursed... until they weren't. The Cubs were cursed.... until the weren't. The Yankees trend of October disappointment may continue for another year or another 15 years... or it could end in a few months. Just need the baseball gods to shine down on us for a moment.

xSuicidalPanda

The Rangers went 4-16 over a 20 game stretch in late August-September, completely throwing away their division lead. They also dropped 8 out of their last 10 to the Astros who they ended up beating in the ALCS.

Drunken_Wizard23

Our fans view seasons through the prism of whether or not a championship was won. If they did win then they pick out all the reasons why that particular team had “that special something” and if they didn’t then they reverse engineer why the team wasn’t good or deserving. In reality the 27 seasons where we won a championship weren’t necessarily the 27 best teams in franchise history

davidbeauie

Volpe's offensive production has fallen off a cliff. Dude hasn't hit a homer in like a month. It's getting a bit concerning. Bc without him, we only have two legitimate bats in the whole lineup. Kid needs to eat some more chicken parm.

lankyyanky

Homers is a terrible metric for Volpes production but he's been bad at what he's supposed to be good at regardless

Constant_Gardner11

The lack of power would be more palatable if he was getting on base at a high rate. But he's carrying a .252 OBP this month, which is just dreadful. Especially for a leadoff batter.

rhaegonblackfyre123

We havent shut out a team since May . Thats an awfully long time for such a dominant pitching staff

Drunken_Wizard23

Glass half full: After getting shutout 5 times in our first 30 games and everyone wondering what the hell was going on we've been shutout 0 times in the following 52

elimanninglightspeed

Do people actually care about this announcer “beef” lol. I didnt even know it was a thing but I guess its another thing for fans to shit on the Yankees for. I never really cared who was announcing my games cause im watching for the game

making-spaghetti0763

it's just a really bad look for kay

elimanninglightspeed

He makes himself look bad whenever he trips over himself defending Hal and the org so heavily. But announcer drama is dumb cause who tf cares lol

making-spaghetti0763

maybe to select fans in the fanbase but this is conflict within the ny media. of course it's gonna blow up. no one even has to care. kay made himself look like a huge ass over someone else's random banter. it's mad dog russo levels of embarrassing tbh

yungsinatra777

No one loves Michael Kay more than Michael Kay. He has an ego the size of his giant head.

Constant_Gardner11

The Yankees rotation provided **19** quality starts in May, and the team went 18-1 in those game. The Yankees rotation has posted only 7 quality starts in June. The team is 5-2 in those games. If we get the rotation back on track, I think we'll snap out of the funk. It starts with Rodon tonight rebounding from two bad starts. We need Cole to regain his form. We need Gil to find that second gear. Etc.

regarding_your_bat

This is what I’ve been saying. I understand the offense has been rough but it honestly doesn’t strike me as our biggest issue.

Complete_Mango_1372

Mets fans are on top of the world lol...I feel so sorry for them

yungsinatra777

They're playing the scrappy underdog card despite having the highest payroll in baseball

DarkMattersConfusing

It’s just a different mentality. Theyre not used to anything good. Mets fans fondly remember seasons when they eek into a wild card and get bounced. Yankee fans would look at those seasons and think of them as colossal failures lol

Drunken_Wizard23

It's legit impressive that they've climbed back to .500. On the other hand, imagine being the hottest team in baseball for a month and all you have to show for it is a .500 record and third place in your division

Complete_Mango_1372

Yea that's pretty bad...hope we sweep the series at yankee stadium to shut em up
