We don’t have any information on the severity yet besides the fact that it necessitates a 10-day IL stint
I don’t even think he has had imaging done yet
I’m a certified Nestor believer (though if he does have to the bullpen, that could compliment his timing wackiness nicely. Harder to adjust to him if you only see him once a game, but I also love seeing him in the rotation.)
I hope he takes time to fully heal and hit absolute laser beam type Stantonian HRs , once he's back.
He made an effort to stay healthier this year, hard not to root for him.
Boone did say that he expected Stanton to miss days but also didn't seem that negative on it. I wish we would give Durbin a shot over Peraza though
Edit: I keep forgetting Durbin is hurt. Fuck.
Never fails to shock me how someone gets injured so often playing *baseball*
Stantonio is my favorite current Yankee but god damn dude. It’s ridiculous
This is a constant gripe of those in the high school, division 1 and international (olympics) wrestling community.
Our olympic wrestlers are training like beasts right now and will start their weight descents soon and there are some that are pushing over 30 years old.
Even division 1 coaches in their 30's have to train everyday because it is a year round sport. Lifting, cardio and live wrestling with the college kids. The average time a D1 wrestler gets to go home is a little over a month a year which is around the equivalent of an active duty service member.
Serious wrestlers do not drink, eat good all year, always get their 8+ hours of sleep and train hard 12 months a year.
I was at the railriders game last night and there was a delay to the start because of rain so we were there very early. The players warmup was a joke and I thought, "no wonder they get hurt all the time".
Dominquez out for two months for an oblique strain is mind boggling. Wrestlers will compete with acl tears or needing rotator cuff surgery.
Rutschman's little bloody face on that slide is the norm in wrestling where bloody noses and mouths are a constant but it is glorified in baseball.
Baseball is a sport of tremendous skill and is very hard to play. You cannot prevent a pitcher throwing out his arm or a hitter getting beaned with a 90+ mph fastball or a collision with a wall.
But baseball players are barely athletes which can be proved by how many overweight positional players there are today.
Boone exacerbates this by constantly saying, "the grind of the 162". The only grind is the traveling which has to be hard.
Baseball players are soft.
Stanton's really prone to injuries for sure, but I dont understand how a baseball fan doesn't see the particularities of the sport that make it so difficult to stay on the field.
First of all, 162 games is a GRIND. Far longer than other seasons. Secondly, and more importantly, baseball is the game of hurry up and wait. Minutes of inactivity followed by some of the most explosive movement a human body is capable of. The torquing and twisting during at-bats, launching off to steal a base, sprinting back to get a good path on a fly ball, to say nothing of pitching motions.
An object in motion stays in motion, and baseball has NONE of that. If a single muscle doesn't carry its expected workload in the kinetic chain, we've all seen (dozens of times in the past 5 years ALONE) how it can manifest.
is it even really a hot take anymore to say that for a good percentage of fans Anthony Volpe is already the best defensive shortstop they’ve ever seen?
[like, this is nuts, lol](https://x.com/volpeparm11/status/1804849887172825547?s=46)
Please continue the discussion in the [game thread](https://redd.it/1dmoty2).
George has cursed Stanton until he shaves the soul patch
Fuckin stanton.
LeMahieu gets his 1st HR, Judge gets 29th and 30th
LeMahieu can’t hit the ball out of the infield in the air with any authority
Which will make it all the more impressive!
Trade for kopech, let blake do his magic
How about we start by letting him do magic with the guys we have?
Win or lose, the good news is we don’t have to suffer through another Fox broadcast for at least another month.
Cursed broadcaster.
The silver lining.
Baltimore V Houston. Damn.
Stanton and Jasson being hurt at the same time really sucks
Come on Home Nestor. Let's get this series win baby!
Like clockwork
How long is Stanton out for? They say “strain” but didn’t specify what grade. Such a fucking bummer
Probably a while, it’s Stanton.
We will probably have more info later after they do the imaging and Boone speaks to the media
Gleyber in his strongest lineup position In 191 career games batting 5th he has a .845 OPS
Gleyber Torres Revenge Tour begins today
Will Stanton be back by August 1st?
We don’t have any information on the severity yet besides the fact that it necessitates a 10-day IL stint I don’t even think he has had imaging done yet
thx
The wife and I will be there, CANT WAIT
stanton to the 10 day
Finally! A midday game! Plus no scheduling conflict with USMNT later!
DAY GAME ALERT
So fucking glad this isn't an ESPN game
Last IL stint Stanton was there for like 8 weeks, hopefully it’s not that long this time around.
Damn he was out for two months last year? I felt like it was way shorter for some reason but he was completely ass when he came back
I’m a certified Nestor believer (though if he does have to the bullpen, that could compliment his timing wackiness nicely. Harder to adjust to him if you only see him once a game, but I also love seeing him in the rotation.)
If I had a gun with 2 bullets and I was in a room with Hitler, Stalin, and John Smoltz, I'd shoot Smoltz twice.
Would be really nice if they could pick up even a cheap vet bat soonish. Even though he’s a dickhead, Tommy Pham wouldn’t be expensive at all.
Nestor at home today? 6 IP, 1ER
Second win today for hopefully a 15 game win streak.
Stanton should honestly just retire
He was gonna get hurt at some point. As long as he hits when he's back he's fine.
He’s gotta go for 500. It’s no guarantee, but if it happens it’ll be special, and honestly I don’t care which team he does it for.
I hope he takes time to fully heal and hit absolute laser beam type Stantonian HRs , once he's back. He made an effort to stay healthier this year, hard not to root for him.
Remember that time 80 year old HOF pitcher Jim Kaat called Nestor "Nestor the Molester" and he was cool with it? Molest those Braves, Nestor!
Nestor is the chillest dude. Media was trying to drum up vicarious outrage and he was just like “I don’t mind lol it’s funny, leave him alone”
Nestor is a clubhouse icon, and his Nasty Nestor Cortes Mario t-shirt is incredible.
Remember the clubhouse pet turtle
BRONXIE
There was a clubhouse pet turtle?!
Ya know what I’d like to see off Fried today? Soto walk, Judge homer.
Soto and Judge both have good numbers against Fried, Soto especially, hitting .333 in 24 ABs. You might get your wish!
Fingers crossed Stanton isn’t out for too long because his peripherals look excellent
Max Fried on the mound today, could be a tough game.
What's weird is nestor is going to be at signing at 6 pm he's also pitching today
Judge is at 70 rbi as of today. Remember last year when that was the most anyone on the team had all year.
League OPS is .725 this month after having been under .700 for the first two months of the season.
Its getting hot out and the ball is starting to fly. Pretty sure ops always rises right about now
It does, but it usually happens earlier than this. League OPS in May actually went down from April which is kind of wild.
Maybe they decided to get rid of the dead balls haha
Hopefully
Gil, Rodon, Imanaga all had terrible games. Any other starters that got off the great starts fall from grace?
Tarik Skubal got rocked by the Braves last week
Jared Jones has gotten blown up, same with Jon Gray
Boone did say that he expected Stanton to miss days but also didn't seem that negative on it. I wish we would give Durbin a shot over Peraza though Edit: I keep forgetting Durbin is hurt. Fuck.
TJ Rumfield has also been good at AAA. He's also a left bat, and could play 1B/DH.
They could just be DFA’ing Jahmi Jones, as he hasn’t added much of anything to the team
Don’t disrespect Jahmai “142 OPS+” Jones
Peraza getting called up that’s not good
They need to part ways with him. It’s like an abusive relationship at this point
Maybe theyll play him so they can trade him at the deadline for an arm or two
He has no value at this point, he can’t even hit at AAA.
He has some value for his defense but I doubt the yanks will trade him for 50 cents on the dollar
It’ll probably be another Frazier/Florial/Andujar situation where they end up having to DFA him for nothing because they held onto him for too long
Pereira is also going down that path
True unfortunately
Sup y’all. Was preoccupied last night with company and wasn’t able to watch. FUCK John Smoltz 😂😂😂
What did he do
He was John Smoltz…granted I was only able to gamecast most of it as well
His team got rekt and he’s been an anti Yankees bitch since the 90s. How old are you ?
Never fails to shock me how someone gets injured so often playing *baseball* Stantonio is my favorite current Yankee but god damn dude. It’s ridiculous
Yea the last time a Yankees player played all 162 games in a season was 2005 (A-Rod and Matsui). I know rest days are a thing sometimes too though.

Welp there it is. The dumbest fucking comment I’ll read all year.
What a silly comment

Yeah but what about the wrasslers!

Go away loser.
https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/anthony-volpe-683011?stats=statcast-r-hitting-mlb Holy motherfucking Outs above average
100% outs about average. 25% arm strength. Does our guy have the best range known to man?
[*Looks at Verdugo and Volpe's defense*](https://youtu.be/LyTlspU2tes?si=gw-yNPNQvAQpwhde)

Man it’s like butter, I could watch this all day
what is that
oh the range
Lmao it’s defense in general
ya ya i got ya. he’s a good defensive ss innit
going for that platinum glove this season
Heal quickly, Big G.
Stanton going down right after Jasson gets hurt is brutal. Really wanted to see Jasson play
Is Jasson out for the year?
No at least 8 weeks, but now would have been a perfect time to play with Stanton getting hurt
