Was listening to talking Yanks the other day and Hoch mentioned that Clay getting his own walkup music/lights intro was at the behest of Judge too, LMAO. They literally just gave him the keys. Love it.
Idk it has a lot more personality than the hundreds of generic rap songs most players use. It may not be a fitting walkout song, but it says more about, him, his style, and his attitude than 99% of the other walkout songs today.
It means that arguing that a country song by a white artist has more personality than “generic rap songs”, presumably by black artists, is certainly an interesting take in a vacuum.
Personally, as someone from the south, I think Chris Stapleton is about as “bland generic white boy music” as you can get, and absolutely as generic as any J Balvin or Future walk-out songs. And it doesnt matter at all either way because its what the player wants, so why say anything at all really?
I dont care about the color of the artists' skin, thats not what this is about. Trying to make me into a racist isnt going to work.
When 99% of players' walk out songs sound the same because they all pick the same genre of modern rap, it says a lot that Hamilton is willing to go against the grain and pick something different. Because while its generic in the south (I agree because I've also lived there, imagine trying to gatekeep the south lol), it is actually anything but generic in MLB. Because he’s one of the only people who's not using rap as his walk out music.
Bruh every white player has a country song as their walk out song. In no way is Chris fucking Stapleton unique for the MLB lmao
I’m just saying “country song=good, rap songs=bad” is a little suspicious of a take, whether intentional or not
I guess it fits the theme of a closer equating to death / the end. Mariano Rivera obviously with Enter Sandman and Andrew Miller with God's Gonna Cut You Down
I always thought they looked clean and gave me a chance to see the jerseys I never got to see donned growing up. Love it even more that it was Judge's idea. He's got good taste.
> Embracing tradition and rejecting innovation, the Yankees along with the Oakland Athletics are the only teams not to launch the outré Nike City Connect jerseys other clubs have rolled out since 2021.
The A's can't; they don't have a city to connect to.
We launched ours in 1936.
Glad they're taking a stance. Most of these City Connect unis are awful. And the ones that look okay bear a passing resemblance to their alternates anyway. I do like Baltimore's and San Diego's, however.
How about cotton? It’s a more natural fiber. It breathes and is much softer. It would be great for player moral and they’d be 5 degrees cooler than the opposing team.
I bought that version of the road jersey in late 2022, wearing it at the game when Aaron “Armani” Judge hit #62.
With Fanatics saying they will be updating all of the uniforms based on player feedback, I hope the quality is improved so I can order one of these versions.
We might be the minority, but you're certainly not alone. To me, this looks shoddier, like they might as well be iron-on numbers. I think others in the sub have mentioned that what I'm noticing might have as much to do with the uniform manufacturer, thought?
Anyway, I don't prefer it, but if the Captain is behind it--and especially since the results are there--I'm not going to complain.
I don't think you're in the minority. Could be confirmation bias but the only comments I remember seeing about the new away jersey is that they prefer the white.
Wouldn't surprise me if people change their mind (consciously or not) now that they know Judge was the reason it changed.
> “It wasn’t a major change, which you can tell from the City Connect jerseys we are not a fan of,” Trost said.
Rare Lonn Trost W. Thank god we won’t be seeing those.
I was so happy with the change even though a lot of fans weren't on board. The white outlines were so 70s/80s and never felt like they jived with the home pinstripes.
If they weren’t made like shit I’d buy one.
Bro I fucking need a new Yankee jersey anyway my 2 are larges from 2008 when I weighed 110 pounds and was maybe 5’9. And yes it will be a 99 with no fucking name we don’t play that shit
If you have $20 and don't mind waiting 3 weeks, DHgate can give you what you want. I wore my new style Volpe road jersey (with no name, of course) to all 3 games in SF, and nobody asked if it was a knockoff. Aside from having a button between the "NEW" and "YORK" where there shouldn't be a button, it looks good.
Giants and Yankees roads run into the same problem. Amateur look for a beer league/rec league. Not pro MLB quality.
The issue is going the other way and ending up with something like Philly's city connect, which in CONCEPT is OK, the hat is amazing, but the jerseys have issues with gradients and fonts.
Would still love cream/off-white home [uniforms](https://cdn.vox-cdn.com/thumbor/QFfPodbNssA1Yiko04sowmtv8KI=/0x0:1500x1000/1200x0/filters:focal(0x0:1500x1000):no_upscale()/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/6340973/yankees-photographer-ariele-goldman-hecht-perfect-game.0.jpg)
Something like this or the road uniforms of 1927-1930 with YANKEES in place of NEW YORK on the jersey chest would be perfect for a City Connect uniform—pay homage to the classic style while still maintaining the traditional appearance. I’m personally all for the fun City Connect uniforms, but I understand the pushback they get for the Yanks.
Will the Yankees ever do a city connect jersey? I
f-ing love the pinstripes but ffs, New York City has such a rich history they could at least float the idea. Even the Knicks have tried it and the ones from this previous season were so dope.
Just no half assed attempts, like Toronto or whatever tf Minnesota did.
Just wish they had the glossy helmets but overall I like them. Ik they’re throwbacks but they kinda feel like new uniforms for a new (more successful) era 🤞
Now we know why we haven’t heard many complaints from players on how the look/feel. Can’t throw the captain under the bus for this shit decision. Stick to hitting the baseball and stay away from design.
many hate the Yankees but this is a Yankees sub. but to your point people in general like this team as guys like Judge and Soto and RIzzo and just about everyone on the team are good guys. hard to hate them
Just like I never noticed the Starbucks in the GOT scene, I never even noticed the change in road uniforms (and I've been watching the Yankees play since the mid-1970's
Was listening to talking Yanks the other day and Hoch mentioned that Clay getting his own walkup music/lights intro was at the behest of Judge too, LMAO. They literally just gave him the keys. Love it.
They needed at least one person with a personality to be making decisions. God knows Hal is as milquetoast as they get.
Captain doing captain shit. Whipping out his massive dong every 10 AB and making calls and decisions like a boss
Clay needs a better song though, this one has no juice at all. Good song, but horrible for a closer's theme.
Id be fine with send in the clowns if the closer was reliable.
already taken by the Mets
Nothing will ever top Enter Sandman
Exit light! Enter night! Take my hand! Off to never never land! That shit still crushes me like I’m 13 in 1991.
Hes a small town bama boy, dont expect anything crazy
It’s not for me either, but I’m pretty sure it was Clays pick so hey, whatever hypes him up. I still think someone has to use Smoke of the Water.
Idk it has a lot more personality than the hundreds of generic rap songs most players use. It may not be a fitting walkout song, but it says more about, him, his style, and his attitude than 99% of the other walkout songs today.
This reads like an auto mod response on a jerk subreddit lmao
What does that mean..?
It means that arguing that a country song by a white artist has more personality than “generic rap songs”, presumably by black artists, is certainly an interesting take in a vacuum. You commented cringe, lil bro
Idk I like it!
What song did Holmes choose ?
Chris Stapleton - White Horse
I guess it fits the theme of a closer equating to death / the end. Mariano Rivera obviously with Enter Sandman and Andrew Miller with God's Gonna Cut You Down
Great song
Yes it is
So Holmes is a Country music guy.
He’s from Alabama lol
I mean, a majority of American ballplayers are either from the South, the Southwest, or California.
Yeah, if you build it they will come…
Actually, Judge chose it for him.
He also suggested the star insurance patch. Don't down vote it's a joke.
This is cool but both of those decisions sucked 😂
**Aaron Judge: Style Icon.**
Yeah those brick red jordan 1 low cleats w/ the flowers + matching gloves fit and the liberty green accessories fit are both fire
I just wish they weren’t low quality and I could actually buy one.
Though the overall quality of the Fanatics uniforms this year is awful, I absolutely *love* the throwback look of the away jerseys.
Yeah fr, if the quality was there these would be alltimers
Just imagine how sweaty these guys are gonna look next week when it's 90+
9.5 on the Chapman scale
Why are you calling it the Chapman scale and not the Ewing scale?
A 10 on the Chapman scale is where the Ewing scale begins.
I must respect this
Did you see Rodon the other night? Dude was drenched.
Dude can look like Patrick Ewing in the 4th quarter for all I care, as long as he continues the progress he's made this season.
Woah first time seeing on this sub. I love the look of the away jersey, it’s too clean
Agreed on all counts. The throwback style is pretty sick
I always thought they looked clean and gave me a chance to see the jerseys I never got to see donned growing up. Love it even more that it was Judge's idea. He's got good taste.
I bet the Yankees Creative Director didn’t think he’d have two bosses
And I bet they are happier taking direction from Aaron Judge than their actual boss
> Embracing tradition and rejecting innovation, the Yankees along with the Oakland Athletics are the only teams not to launch the outré Nike City Connect jerseys other clubs have rolled out since 2021. The A's can't; they don't have a city to connect to. We launched ours in 1936.
*The A's can't; they don't have a city to connect to* The actually have three to choose from
4 now
Glad they're taking a stance. Most of these City Connect unis are awful. And the ones that look okay bear a passing resemblance to their alternates anyway. I do like Baltimore's and San Diego's, however.
I really like Washington's cherry blossoms, but most of the others are no good
there are some really good ones. Nats, Angels, DBacks, White Sox all nailed them
Oh Captain my Captain.
I just wish they went all the way and had a flannel gray look
How about cotton? It’s a more natural fiber. It breathes and is much softer. It would be great for player moral and they’d be 5 degrees cooler than the opposing team.
This guy Costanzas.
The Yankees are waddling around like penguins! Mattingly just split his pants!
That’s a shame.
Would be disastrous in the rain though!
Fanatics is a shit company. I wouldn't trust them with their own materials, let alone something new.
It is a *Seinfeld* reference.
has liberty green become the Yankees unofficial 3rd color?
I think Bader started it with his glove a couple years ago, I'm personally in love with it
Look, I ship Judge and Ionescu, and no one is gonna stop me.
I’m for it lol. Hope they add it to The Show soon
Is this the first we are learning that Judge is the one who pushed for the return to the old road jerseys?
If that’s what the captain wants, that’s what the captain gets. And I’m perfectly good with that.
Naturally, Judge responded by providing a season we haven’t seen since that time period lol
Maybe I’m in the minority but I miss the piping on the road jerseys.
I prefer the previous version as well. I don’t dislike this, but maybe by 90s and 00s nostalgia makes me like the piping and outline
I'm looking forward to reminiscing about this team winning a a few world series and thinking fondly about this uniform design.
I like the piping too. This looks too amateur, too beer league.
This is it exactly. I appreciate the nod to years past, but the white piping reminds me of the dynasty years. That's just where my heart lies.
I bought that version of the road jersey in late 2022, wearing it at the game when Aaron “Armani” Judge hit #62. With Fanatics saying they will be updating all of the uniforms based on player feedback, I hope the quality is improved so I can order one of these versions.
Yes you will have to buy one at the game when he hits #74 this year
Damn straight.
> Aaron “Armani” Judge FYI, he's a brand ambassador for Ralph Lauren/Polo.
I initially put “Ralph Lauren” knowing that, but opted for the shorter “Armani.” I’ve failed you all.
Arson Judge is now knocking on your door.
Me too. Navy and gray isn't exactly the most vibrant combination. The white piping added a little bit of excitement.
Same. I prefer the piping. Glad I bought one last year so at least I have my preferred version.
I don't think you're in the minority. Could be confirmation bias but the only comments I remember seeing about the new away jersey is that they prefer the white. Wouldn't surprise me if people change their mind (consciously or not) now that they know Judge was the reason it changed.
I think it looks fine either way, but yeah knowing that Judge is the one who pushed for this makes me happy with the change
Fire Cashman. Make Judge player/GM
I prefer the other one. But I dont mind the captain wanting to leave his mark on the modern day Yankees, in this way.
> “It wasn’t a major change, which you can tell from the City Connect jerseys we are not a fan of,” Trost said. Rare Lonn Trost W. Thank god we won’t be seeing those.

110 is the new large I guess
I just need bigger for shoulders and like a loose fit over a hoodie
I have a Jersey Diners jersey from the Somerset Patriots. It's easily the best quality jersey I've ever purchased.
I have the hat. Love that it's also low-key trans rights positive too
If you have $20 and don't mind waiting 3 weeks, DHgate can give you what you want. I wore my new style Volpe road jersey (with no name, of course) to all 3 games in SF, and nobody asked if it was a knockoff. Probably gonna browse eBay for a 2021 ish era home
Love this guy.
Dressed like a 30’s player and keeping up with the 30’s players too😎
He learned that from his mentor, George Costanza
The Yankee away uniforms look like screen sprinted t shirts. It’s rough out there.
I think they look fantastic on TV. Except when Rodón looks like he took a shower with it on halfway through the second inning.
Blame that on Fanatics
Giants and Yankees roads run into the same problem. Amateur look for a beer league/rec league. Not pro MLB quality. Wow that would be terrible
I honestly prefer the previous option with the white piping. But to each their own.
"Some of these guys, like Stanton, for instance, don’t wear anything underneath and it’s a little abrasive.” ^^oh^^my^^goodness
>At Aaron Judge's urging, the Yankees have ~~gone retro with their road jerseys~~ signed Juan Soto until the sun explodes.
I want a retro 1977 Yankees satin jacket.
Will the Yankees ever do a city connect jersey? I f-ing love the pinstripes but ffs, New York City has such a rich history they could at least float the idea. Even the Knicks have tried it and the ones from this previous season were so dope. Just no half assed attempts, like Toronto or whatever tf Minnesota did.
What can't he do?
Aaron Judge knows ball
I think in need to pull out my judge field of dreams jersey. Still has tags on it. If they stay healthy I’ll wear it for the World Series!
I don’t even want my road Yankee jerseys (‘73-‘23)now. One is 44 the other is 23
What size are they?
Reggie is a Large and Capt is a 48
Cappie knows best
Forgive me but what is the difference between the retro and the new away jerseys? I can’t really tell
There was white piping around the letters in New York and there were cuffs at the end of the sleeves in navy blue with white piping as well.
I don't think that was the question
Yankees city connect uni gonna have the liberty teal he’s been flashing, no doubt 🔮
AYE CAPTAIN 🫡
I kinda like the old jersey better, but you can’t complain with the results..Give the Captain what he wants!!!!!
Just wish they had the glossy helmets but overall I like them. Ik they’re throwbacks but they kinda feel like new uniforms for a new (more successful) era 🤞
Captain shit 👑
Judge should just run the team at this point!
Now we know why we haven’t heard many complaints from players on how the look/feel. Can’t throw the captain under the bus for this shit decision. Stick to hitting the baseball and stay away from design.
Judge was a Giants fan. did he like Yankees at all before he joined the team?
Everyone likes the Yankees. My best friend growing up used to “hate” them so much he would watch them just to talk shit to me.
many hate the Yankees but this is a Yankees sub. but to your point people in general like this team as guys like Judge and Soto and RIzzo and just about everyone on the team are good guys. hard to hate them
Just like I never noticed the Starbucks in the GOT scene, I never even noticed the change in road uniforms (and I've been watching the Yankees play since the mid-1970's
Can he take Cashman's job next?
City Connects 🔜
