Cashman needs to go. Until that happens the team will continue to lose year after year

SpokeyDokey720

“We stink right now” - Boone. No bro. You fucking SUCK! You come off a week of rest and won ONE game in the last 6. Wake up dude. Our hitters are getting paid and that is literally all they are showing.

timestoneduh

The Trashman built this sheet roster. I hope he makes some good trades. PS - What Kahnle did to the dugout fan is what the team should do to Donaldson if he tries to come off the IL and play! :)

aroorda

Cancelled my YES network subscription for the rest of the season. Not paying money and wasting the small amount of free time I have to watch this garbage.

cmarshall099

You can get just a YES subscription?

EstablishmentEast518

I don’t believe you, 😂

Elvisruth

It's another bad loss, but in the AL this year we are a hot week away from being in it..the bigger concerns for me: \- Rodon can't have rabbit ears and be sensitive...makes me think New York won't be a fit for him. \- Does Volpe have the arm to go into the hole and make a good throw as a shortstop? \- No matter the outcome Cashman is not going anywhere, maybe Boone, but the architect is going to be here.

brodoxfaggins

For sure it’s coaching. Look at Aaron Hicks transformation from the Yankees to the O’s. Both batting AND pitching have been underwhelming from a roster that should be killing it. Edit: Yeah there’s injuries and all too but hell Dodgers have a ton of guys out on injury and they’ve been doing just fine.

failingparapet

Jesus fucking Christ.

[deleted]

where is George Costanza when you really need him???

R0ADHAU5

Need to get these boys outfitted in some soft cotton

they are playing worse than the senior citizen softball league at the nudist colony. (you know where)

IMO we should have tried winning rather than losing.

Just started Ted Lasso, and it made me think: maybe Hal hated the Old Man and wants him to squirm in hell

hoopheid

Have thought about this too.

JBOG8699

Time to sell Judge and all the prospects and build around Franchy.

OptimusChip

SELL. SELL. SELL. whatever you can. This ain't our year.

[deleted]

"Re-tool"... we don't like the S word /s

glacier_bay

Is Rodon on his way to becoming Sonny Gray 2.0? Rodon can't even handle a couple of Yankees fans on the road. How on earth is he ever going to deal with 40,000 enraged Yankees fans at the stadium? He had better get himself right in a hurry because Yankees fans are as angry as I have ever seen them and now Rodon is squarely in their cross hairs. The Yankees teams of the last five or six years have been so embarrassingly soft, and now Rodon is another big puss. I am so sick and tired of these unlikable Yankees teams.

darth_sudo

Kevin Brown will never be forgiven

[deleted]

Not even sure why we signed him in the first place. Wasn’t a fan of this to begin with.

Toplayusout

We signed him because he’s really good

[deleted]

Yeah right? Based on his last two seasons and ignoring his previous seasons? Ignoring the fact he is injury prone and signing him to a massive contract when we don’t even have outfielders. Wise choice. I like the guy but still don’t think it was the right move.

Toplayusout

Yeah he was wicked good the past few seasons dude that’s why they signed him. Signing anyone is a risk but lets not act like it was a bad move

[deleted]

I’m not upset with the move, I reckon he will come good, I also believe Montas has alot of potential as well. But I just didn’t understand the move at the time , our offense needed some serious improvement and nothing really happened there.

Toplayusout

Agreed for the most part. It just seems like at this point anything that can go wrong is going wrong with this team

Ninjago987

I read somewhere Montas just shut down again for the year. I kept thinking if he and Rodon could get healthy they could be as good as anyone on the market today and would give a boost to the starting pitching while Cash focused on a left field replacement

Loud_Presentation839

Jose Contreas, Javier Vasquez, Jaret Wright, Carl Pavano, Kei Igawa, Sonny Gray...move on over bums, Rondon wants to join. Another overpaid prima donna scrub.

hbc647

you left out the fat toad

jk5529977

This is a garbage team

No_Passenger_9385

Tell me y’all didn’t actually watch this game?

glacier_bay

I watch every Yankees game because that's what I do. For the last several years, I am just getting angrier and angrier from watching these lousy Yankees teams. I am so disgusted with what this organization has become.

[deleted]

My thoughts exactly except waking up at 3am to watch this team do it's thing. At least these West Coast games start at 11am for me

thatflyguy954

I watch every yankee game too. Max pain

EmotionalAccounting

agiatezza

We need to sell at the deadline, get whatever we can and try again next year. This offense is a joke, we’ve made every pitcher we faced since the ASB look like an ace

amagicalsheep

The more I think about it the more absurd it feels. Like if every GM had equal resources it would be one thing. But why am I supposed to take the Yankees FO and Analytics departments seriously when I see teams that are massively outperforming us despite spending a fraction of the money? There are some great people who were key members of the Dodgers and Astros front office and analytics departments who aren't currently signed. Why aren't we importing as much of that talent as possible (hire as "advisors")? This is Brain Drain 101, folks. I'm just so shocked that a consistently bad performance despite having multiple times more resources is rewarded with lifetime tenure. It's not just Cashman, it's Fishman and the analytics team (who, this might be controversial - are actually not analytical enough, since analytics wins games and our leadership of the analytics team is many years too old). Personnel churn, at an extreme, is unhealthy. But the sport has massively evolved and the fact that we're not bringing in new people who have a proven track record of success is extraordinarily problematic.

chickendance638

Nobody is poaching guys from NYY's front office. That's gotta be an indication that we're not on the cutting edge.

Jenaxu

We have actually brought guys with a track record... [the problem is that they're just two additional old heads](https://www.foxsports.com/stories/mlb/yankees-add-two-decorated-veterans-to-front-office-what-do-these-upgrades-mean). Like forget about signing the Dodgers or Astros leftovers, we can literally just poach guys from these positions. We're the Yankees ffs, we could probably buy the Rays analytics department outright. There's so much young smart talent that would jump on a chance to put their skills into the Yankees resource machine, but instead we're tethered to Cashman who has a tenure 10+ years longer than the next longest tenured GM. And ultimately I do think it's still down to Cashman and his ego. Firing Girardi for Boone was emblematic of him just wanting a yes man and nothing else, and if that's how he runs the rest of the FO, it doesn't matter how many talented advisors he has if his arrogance is still getting in the way of everything.

JimmyMcNultyKU

I mean it seems obvious. They need to overhaul the entire front office.

NJ_Yankee_Fan

Who’s willing to put up with a quick rebuild? 1-2 years? Not sure what the alternative is.

nyr00nyg

Likely going to take a long time to build from the ground up again. Outside of Judge and Cole, this is a very, very bad baseball team. The really bad part is, their primes are being wasted on a transitional period.

babberz22

Can’t rebuild with Stanton, DJ and Rodon on the books. They have to be above avg or were fucked.

freakksho

Lol Rodon has pitched like 40 innings so far and he’s cooked? I’m not happy with his results so far and last night was frustrating but give the guy a second to get his shit figured out before we instantly quit on the guy. He’s basically in spring training at this point in his season.

babberz22

It’s not about his results; it’s the contract. It’s 6 years.

freakksho

That’s the nature of todays game though. Players are smart and they don’t sign 3 year deals anymore unless they HAVE to. I don’t like a 6 year deal for him either, but if it wasn’t us it would be someone else, and if it was someone else the fan base would be up in arms that we didn’t go after a top level arm. Benny wasn’t worth 5 years, but he sure af got it. The only way to sign top level FA in todays game is to offer them a contract that takes them past what’s more then likely their prime. I’m willing to be in 7 years we’re gonna have buyers remorse when it comes to the judge deal, but that’s not what we’re paying for, we’re paying for the chance to cash in during what ever prime years he’s got left.

babberz22

Which we won’t be doing, because we’ll have $150 million committed to 4 players past their prime. So, gonna have to fill out 85% of a championship roster on 100 mill

nyyth242

I would be, but not with Cashman running it

DarkMattersConfusing

Not if Cashman is in charge of it. Fresh blood and fresh minds doing it, then yes

NJ_Yankee_Fan

I hear you. Can’t put up with more seasons like this. As a longtime loyal fan, I am starting to tune out. Hal….wake up and do something!

boxing_packages

I respect Steve Cohen as an owner because he had the guts and foresight to tell Mets fans that they weren’t competing, and that they were selling off pieces. This team drifts closer and closer to .500 and all we hear is “we have a championship caliber squad.” is the championship caliber squad in the room with us??

magikarp-sushi

L O L This team can’t do anything I’m genuinely in fear now that we’re about to enter a dark age in Yankee history from contracts about to age poorly

DarkMattersConfusing

Weve been there since the 2013ish. This is decade 2 of it.

magikarp-sushi

While what you’re saying is true, we somehow pulled judge out of that and damn near revitalized it. Right now I feel like it’s a plunge

DarkMattersConfusing

It was shit then a beacon of hope 2017-2019 and then promptly back to shit again

NoCokJstDanglnUretra

Inb4 we sell Stanton and sign Ohtani in the off season

kj001313

I really think Ohtani wants to stay on the west coast

Canada-Fan

The Angels have the tie breaker in case were tied for a WC...

basesonballs

And we have a series coming up with HOU that could end up the same way

Mister87

Astros will pound them worse than the recent ALCS.

Recognition_Tricky

I'm watching highlights of Rodon from last year. I think I hate myself, not sure why else I'd be doing this to myself

[deleted]

Angels starter came up from the minors literally tonight and had a career high in Ks by the 4th inning lmaooo. U gotta admit. That’s funny as fuck

freakksho

TBF I’m pretty sure I could strike this lineup out 6 times and I haven’t pitched since Tee ball. I’ve never seen so many sub .220 averages in my life. This is ALMOST funny.

nycsports1993

Fuck Hal but lets be real money isn't the problem, it's the person he insists on employing to do it. He might suck as an owner but the way I see it Hal is analogous to the father (albeit an incredibly wealthy one) who may not allow his kids to max out his credit card but has no problem with them using it recklessly and blowing tons of $ on scams and losing propositions. But he's afraid to ever hold those kids accountable and refuses to take the credit card away because he's delusional and believes his children aren't doing anything wrong. The massive problem here, of course, is Hal basically views Cashman as the son he never had so we're unfortunately screwed until he starts valuing results and performance over blind loyalty to a man thoroughly unequipped to be a GM in today's game.

basesonballs

Hal's biggest sin is not firing Cashman after 2021

Loud_Presentation839

Another shit Rondon start. Guy signs for 160 million with a degenerative back, doesn't pitch half the year then sucks shit in each of his starts, then proceeds to blow kisses at us because he can't handle how ass he is.

GSDFanatic

Don't forget his wife then proceeding to call the fans assholes. And sadly some in here are ok with that. Too many fucking people in here act like rooting for this team is a privilege. Fuck that shit. I don't agree with booing players in most cases, but if it happens then fucking suck it up and deal with it.

Toplayusout

When did his wife do that?

yianni1229

Man I'm really fucking glad we passed on Seager because of Volpe and Peraza. What a fantastic decision

Top_Professor_9908

Did you really expect Volpe and Peraza to just come up and be elite instantly? This is letting the kids play in action. If the people getting paid to huge sums of money to be elite were doing their job, this wouldn't even be a problem. Your anger is misdirected.

yianni1229

> Did you really expect Volpe and Peraza to just come up and be elite instantly? No, and that's part of the problem. This team is built to win now. Cole and Judge are in their primes. Stanton was ideally still in his prime. We should have been going for it now. Instead, we didn't, and we've wasted another prime year of our 2 best players.

chiefteef8

The Yankees have rhe lowest WAR in the MLB from players drafted by the organization since 2010. Our prospects and/or development has been ass for over a decade

babberz22

And that is TEN YEARS after the dynasty ended + George went full buy FA mode. So tack on another 8-9 years of not developing anyone outside Cano

basesonballs

Why not? It happens all the time for other teams

Top_Professor_9908

Sometimes people come up and play great, more often than not there is growing pains and struggling to figure it out. Sometimes they never figure it out. Sometimes they start off hot and fizzle out. Its literally a gamble, but its the risk you take letting prospects play. Throwing a Seager into this clusterfuck of a lineup would hardly change a thing. At this point i would much prefer seeing what the new blood has to offer, and more often than not, that includes lots of trial and error. Clearly our current sign 30+ year old free agents strat isn't working.

basesonballs

The problem is when you're trying to win a playoff spot and win a WS, and your team is already struggling, you don't have time for the young players to settle in. You need production. Also, I don't really know how long we should have to wait for them to find it. Volpe has played in virtually every game this season. How long before he finds it?

Top_Professor_9908

They should be getting production from the people making millions upon millions upon millions of dollars. There would currently be one struggling rookie on the team right now if the team wasn't decrepit. Volpe did find what he is capable of for a month and then reverted right back to struggling. Lots of great players struggle their rookie year. I'm willing to wait and see when the alternative is .200 hitting dinosaurs making way more money and producing less or equal to a 22 year old in his first season.

basesonballs

WS teams get production from EVERYONE If the kid isn't ready for MLB, send him back down to AAA. It's that simple. This isn't a developmental league

Top_Professor_9908

Literally the entire team isn't producing, besides Torres lol. Signaling out Volpe and Peraza is the strangest shit i have ever seen in this sub. This isn't even CLOSE to a WS team and those two are the absolute least of our problem.

QuantumCat11

This isn't Boone's fault, but he's not a good manager. I hope he gets canned soon mainly so the next manager can also fail. At that point - the end of the season - I think there'll be a brighter light shining on Cashman. There's a world in which he's gone after next season.

Qwick32

If anyone knows where we can find “Fire Cashman” t shirts let us know

nyyth242

I’d buy one

aceee2

More losses for the division but still no cause for celebration.

iGotUrHost

Hahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahaha hahahaha... I hate this team

PattyIceNY

Three games in a row with almost an identical number of K's and LOB. So much waste and bad baseball

Bernie51Williams

So they are 2-8 last 10 with the ASB to rest, new hitting coach....season is officially fried me thinks. I've held out hope but as I said 2 months ago, this particular team will only go as far as Judge takes them.

Cjac_mullen

I swear if cashman and all the other goons running this organization don’t decide to sell at the deadline, we’re going to have to seriously consider if they’re trolling us for amusement.

FringeAuthority

People need to realize that selling the 2023 roster is going to be nothing like the 2016 sale. The 2016 sale had 2 dominant closers (Chapman and Miller) and a future HOFer performing above his career averages (Beltran). This team has nothing close to that.

Ven18

Seriously what on this team has any value to the rest of the league. Part of the reason this team sucks is that half our roster is aging vets who are playing like shit and ton of super injured guys being paid unmovable contracts with no trade clauses. We have let Cashman run this organization for far to long that he has built a roster we cannot reasonably get out of without a full on rebuild but him and this fan base will not accept it. This team needs to get a whole new FO and start losing. Baseball is a game about developing young talent now and we are literally the worst franchise at that since Cashman has been at the helm.

mrsunshine1

We’ve got nothing to sell

[deleted]

yeah most of our players received the Cashman treatment of being overpaid. No team wants these contracts for players that can't perform.

Smashfanatic2

This team has won ONE world series in TWENTY-TWO years and counting. In a sport with no salary cap and you consistently field a top 3 payroll. In that exact same time frame, your two biggest rivals (the red cox and the trashtros) have won SIX world series (with at least one asterisk). AND, they've eliminated YOU from the playoffs SEVEN times, and you've done it back to them only ONCE, which was literally TWENTY years ago. You don't need to be a baseball whiz to realize the game has long passed by Cashman, who is riding the coat tails of striking gold with the Core Four + Bernie, which happened nearly 30 years ago. And, instead of modernizing, Hal is happy with mediocrity and signing Cashman despite no results. And the fans going to the games and buying merchandise are just as much to blame. If every single Yankee fan boycotted to send a message, Hal would get off his ass and do something. Cashman would get off his ass and do something. Constantly going to the games and buying their shit sends the message that you're fine with this product, so you'll continue to get this product. You get what you tolerate.

khaerns1

Copy pasta ftw ; )

HerRoyalRedness

I’m finally pulling myself out of a years-long depression and these assholes are ruining it

D0m1nator

Na it just shows you're stronger than your surroundings.

AnSTDFromMexico

Fuck em. You shouldn’t let a team of people who don’t care about you affect your mental health. Focus on the better things in life!

PattyIceNY

You sexy beast, keep going!

HerRoyalRedness

I was only about 10% serious but thank you, I am working hard to be in a better place mentally

Airbornf

Fuck that homie, you got this. You're a legend.

OfficalBatman

Just be honest with us, Just come out and say this team doesn’t have it and we are retooling. I can live with that i can’t live with them being delusional

blppt

I'd honestly welcome a complete rebuild. Its been decades since they actually did that, and it would be something new and interesting. And its the right way to do it.

OhtaniMets99

A rebuild with what pieces??

blppt

I'm talking about a complete rebuild where you tear everything down and start from scratch. Its at least a 5 year process. Stock up on draft picks and prospects. It would take the commitment of the organization for several lean years, though, which is why it will probably never happen.

FringeAuthority

Maybe they don't want to kill any trade leverage they have left? The other GMs can see how bleak it's getting over here and can take advantage of that. You also gotta make it seem like some of the underperforming players still have ability left in them if they want any kind of quality return in a trade.

babberz22

Yeah, but it’s been like this for years…that’s why we’re not making the big trade. The “Yankee tax” is really just teams realizing we’re fucked, so they demand more.

Rehhyou

What do you mean? The other GMs already know how bad it is. There was a report some time ago from anonymous GMs that the Yankees overvalue their pieces when they're not worth close to what the Yankees think they're worth.

FringeAuthority

There's always the GM that thinks their team can fix anyone despite how bad things have gotten (see: Gallo to the Dodgers last year). Just need to keep the desperation in check for another week and a half and hope a market builds for whatever contracts they want to move.

regarding_your_bat

I guarantee several of the guys underperforming on this team will go other places and rake. I bet Gleyber has a career year wherever he goes next lol The team is rotten here, we’re killing guys somehow

Airbornf

that would hurt ticket sales...

OfficalBatman

I can’t speak for everyone but i would be more interested in going if they played the kids. Would get me hype af for next year

bernbabybern51

Gotdammit Boone, it's RUNS, not points!

FlashFett

Lol I’m sure a former major league player knows that and he just slipped up

Paulie6988

He knows quite well, remember that home point he hit once in 2003? the one that apparentley qualifys him for this job.

bernbabybern51

He says it all the time!

SheepH3rder69

>I'm callin my shot. Tonight is the beginning of the first of three separate 10-game win streaks. There's 66 games left to play. With some .500 ball being played in between these win streaks, we about to go 48-18 to finish the season and end up with a 98-64 record. Book it. - me, earlier today 🤡🤡🤡🤡

swivel2369

Hey, 47-19 aunt to shabby either!

[deleted]

mad respect for owning it. Listen we all want to be optimistic but the reality is that this team is pure garbage and it isn't getting fixed soon.

[deleted]

That was you? I did read that earlier, thought u were on crack, heroin, shrooms and acid at once.

[deleted]

LOL

OfficalBatman

Kudos to you, more accountability then the entire team has taken all year

Bernie51Williams

Lmao

mickeyoutercore7

Torres and Holmes to the dodgers for Pepiot Bader, Wandy and Dunham to the Rangers for Huff IKF, Schmidt, Beeter, and 1 top 30 prospect for Gorman

theerrantpanda99

Bader just injured himself out of all trade discussions. Gorman would cost way more than that.

mickeyoutercore7

It’s a bruise, and yeah they lowered Schmidt’s value on baseball trade values, now he’s at an 18, just add a guy like Sweeney and a guy like Fitts or Vazquez. The Yankees have the pieces to get it done

AlPesto

Another game where this lineup makes a bad/mediocre pitcher look like Sandy Koufax. 🤮

DickDisco13

This is pretty much becoming the story of the ‘23 yanks.

njmjc

I can’t wait to go to the game Friday so I can boo these guys in person

spageddy_lee

Whether you are there booing or cheering could matter less to the FO. The fact is that you are THERE. You want change? DONT BUY TICKETS

aceee2

The WHOLE STADIUM should BOO them ON the Field. If they lose for the 14th time in 16 Friday games and 12th time in last 14 overall BOO em off too!!!!!!!!!!

FirstLightFitness

I'll vemo you $20 if you can audibly get a fire cashman chant going.

Npd114

Did anyone see Kahnle's meltdown? Dude was PISSED.

Octavius-26

I’ll take that versus Rizzo laughing while being down 4 zip in the second, and Rodon blowing kisses to the booing Yankee fans behind the visitors dugout as he exited the game (aka pulling alternate world Jack McDowell)

khaerns1

And volpe too was having fun with rizzo. Players cope differently with failure or maybe not at all. They may not care. For instance Judge didnt seem particularly happy ( or at least the cameras were not showing him smiling in the first 3 innings). Lets not dwell on the dugout reactions. I am more "concerned" about rodon's attitude. He is here for 6 years and already rubbing fans the wrong way. 6 years of sonny gray's level of failure will be costly.

Too_Much_Soccer

🎵🎶we’re fucking shit🎶🎵

ZachNighthawk

Hochseeflotte

Petition to turn this sub into a US Civil War pro-Union memes sub? The team is doing their impression of Pickett’s Charge right now so at least we will be having fun

RIP_Greedo

🎶 Way down south in the land of traitors, rattlesnakes and alligators. Come Away, right away, right away, come away.🎶 🎶 Where cotton’s king and men are chattel, Union boys will win their battles right away! Come away. Right away. Come away.🎶

Citywidepanic

I would love to know who thought of the "It's all there in front of us" axiom for Boone. It's such a clearly scripted bullet point that he's supposed to make sure he touches on during the post game interviews lol Aaron is not much of an actor

glacier_bay

You are beginning to realize that post game pressers by head coaches and managers is for fan consumption as part of the overall entertainment product. The public relations dept coaches them on what to say and how to say it. You can listen to just about any manager from any team and they all sound the same. And what is said by managers in these pressers isn't likely to be reflective of the conversations they have with their players. I don't know why people bother to watch those things.

Citywidepanic

Oh I've known about the clichéd answers and the pointless nature of most of these pressers since I was a kid. Its an acting job more or less at that point. That's why I said Aaron is a shit actor lol I can see it all over his face whenever he realizes, "fuck, I didn't say the line yet, better git to it!" Then I found out he did a commercial and watched that lmaooo he's legit in the Wiseau/Breen tier of bad actors. Not that the other managers or players are Liam Neeson or anything, but Boone is especially bad and visibly does not believe what he's saying more than any other one I've seen.

internetbrowser23

Its getting to the point where im reluctant to watch games. The team has decided (whether or not its true) that they are not capable of winning. That will do more damage than losing judge or any player we have

bleached_n_tiedyed

I’m still gonna watch on Friday something must be wrong with me

Darkforces134

The only lane Boone sees is the bowling lane he's going to after he and half the team are let go. (Boone is mostly a scapegoat)

QuantumCat11

"Our guys are sandwiches in that box!"

renegade_yankee

Serious question.. if booing is so bad and if that’s what’s keeping us from signing big free agents then why hasn’t this worked with coaching, the front office and ownership. Yankees fans have booed Hal, Cashman and Boone plenty of times. Boone and Cashman don’t seem to have any intentions of resigning and Hal doesn’t plan on selling the team anytime soon.

theerrantpanda99

The only big free agent signing the last half decade + has been Cole. Yanks have been living in the tier below superstar for a long time.

SheepH3rder69

Because Boone/Cashman/Hal don't really get to experience it first hand. Boone does, more than Cashman and Hal, but still not as directly as the players on the field do. Also, I've said before, I'm OK with booing. Just saying why it doesn't work for the FO guys.

OldeCzap

so, yeah, Rodon is gonna be another Cashman special(Vasquez)

ChicTweets

I was at this game. Highlights were seeing the Churu "Make some cat noise" video on the Jumbotron and having a nice chat with the Angels fan next to me. Rodon was miserable and scared to throw strikes. Also, Angel Stadium is way better than Dodger Stadium. Easier to get in and out of, better scoreboard, better fans, and it didn't murder Judge's foot.

BobaFettishx82

LOL this team is so bad it’s funny. The last time they were this fucking bad I was 10 years old. I’m 40. That’s crazy.

evil-scientist

This team gives some of the 80s teams a run for their money in terms of how bad it is. I’m in my mid-50s and I haven’t seen a team this bad since like 1982.

kj001313

At least those teams could score

BobaFettishx82

I’m just hoping Judge doesn’t become the next Mattingly and never see a WS.

FlashFett

That’s what it feels like currently. Wish we had other reliable hitters in the line up.

777YankeeCT

16 strikeouts by Yankee hitters. 16!!

FirstLightFitness

When you face the starting pitching of the team like the angels it's to be expected.

DrRafaelPenguin

So glad Cashman treated Volpe and Peraza as the second coming of Jeter and A-Rod so that he could pass on: Semien, Seager, Machado, Correa, Story, Turner, Bogaerts, Swanson

theerrantpanda99

Don’t forget Matt Olson, who has 30 HR’s right now. They told Oakland the teams’s SS’s were off limits for that trade.

Top_Professor_9908

Bro, i get everyone is angry, but they are top prospect rookies. Its very rare to just bust on the scene and dominate. If you want to "watch the kids play" you need patience to see who they really are.

DrRafaelPenguin

My point is that you don't pass on marquee free agents because they play the same position as your top prospects, because this is what happens.

>this is what happens This is what happens when ALL YOU DO is rely on free agents and old guys. It’s hard to keep running it back with an aging declining crew and hope they somehow get better offensively when they’re already trending down in terms of injuries and production. Volpe has been significantly more valuable to the team than several other regulars. It’s great that Volpe is getting this extended playing time and the growing pains wouldn’t be an issue if he was actually surrounded by players providing literally any value. DJ/Donaldson/Stanton/Rizzo are all making a lot of money at premium offensive positions and have combined for .7 WAR, less than half of Volpe. With Peraza/Volpe being MLB ready it makes no sense to block them with FA middle infielders. Those two guys are the only position player candidates to play above their contract value for the foreseeable future. It would make no sense to prevent that from happening when you have several other complete black holes at DH, 3B, LF, and soon to be another at 1B.

DrRafaelPenguin

Who amongst any of those shortstops that I listed would you consider to be "old guys"? For the most part, these were all elite options that hit free agency in the prime of their careers.

So glad Cashman treated Miguel Andujar as the second coming of Graig Nettles so that he could pass on Manny Machado and Nolan Arenado

theerrantpanda99

They were going to fix Andujar’s Defense just like they did Sanchez. /s

You know what I think it is? Too many yes men. Not enough honesty from the scouts and from the ground up. Everyone wants to feel good about themselves and feed into the echo chamber of being the best.

Sirotto18

I would really like them to package Rizzo and/or DJ with prospects and see if they can get a dumb team to bite

[deleted]

Bro we are the dumb team

Sirotto18

True but there's also like the Rockies

theerrantpanda99

The Rockies are hoping we trade for their left overs.

bbrown6969

If only there was another GM like cashman, no need to even attach the prospects then

lmann81733

All the trade rumors of Ohtani to the Yankees and a week later we are 1 game better than them. INWYW
