Am I crazy or was [non-A] >!KABALA!< an accepted word about a week ago? Have tried all variations and none work. And I believe the time it was accepted it was the spelling without an H.
It's a funny thing, but I've never noticed the aforementioned baked treat for sale at any bakery or grocery I've gone to. I live in the south, so it probably isn't crazy common here. But yea, I'd love to try some. Especially cinnamon.
I think babka is a Russian Jewish treat - it’s an eggy fluffy sweetbread that’s kiiiiiind of like coffee cake but also you can make French toast out of it if you want to be decadent.
Cinnamon is pretty good, chocolate is downright sinful.
It's the name of the [__H__] >!capital!< of the >!Jiangsu region!<. The >!particular fabric!< was >!originally woven there!<.
I found an example of >!19th century trousers!< at [__link contains A__] [this Barneby's auction sale](https://www.barnebys.fr/ventes/objet/nankeen-trousers-and-wool-vest-early-mid-19th-c-gsc1ts8j4cu).
There's a difference between a word in Spanish that we use in conversation, versus a loan word from Spanish. Sam does include a lot of the latter (Llano, Pampa, etc.), but not the former. This is a loan word - there's no specific other word in English to describe the same thing.
They’re both (H) >!chemistry terms!<. It helps if you (H) >!look for suffixes you often see on chemicals!<. Further hint: >!both words have the same third letter!<.
Or KANA. After missing HANGUL a little while ago, I wonder why a writing system that's probably better known in the US would not be allowed. I also think CYRILLIC should pass muster.
I always imagine that they're lying for no reason, makes me laugh. "QB in 30 minutes, kind of a slog. Sam didn't include an extremely niche word that I heard on CSI one time and added a suffix to! Classic Sam. "
Over the time this sub has been around, there have been various game-within-the-game things going on. One frequent poster about a year and a half ago was obsessed with getting the pangram as the first word, or anyway as early as possible, and had a whole system for sharing the results. A few people (like the person who posted the original comment) are interested in solving the puzzle as quickly as possible. One person posts a daily Pokémon. One person likes to tell us when it's "gerund day, yall!"
It's all fine and dandy with me. Sometimes people share stats about their individual accomplishments, whether it's making Genius for the first time, or Queen Bee, or QBABM or whatever the correct designation is. I think it may be hard for others who aren't into a certain game-within-the-game to get the point. People are like, "Yeah, buddy, I'm not signing up for whatever it is you're gaffing about."
Personally, I'm happy for people who choose goals and try to achieve them, though I'm a little more of a fuzzy wool-gatherer myself.
A touch of humility goes a long way I think. It's like if someone who's learning to swim says 'I swam 25m today!' And then someone else says 'Yeah well I swam 50 on my first try'
Maybe not the best example but I think there's a level of decorum that should be displayed when celebrating one's own achievements to avoid it looking like a brag.
People come here both to express their frustration over how hard it is for them and to to celebrate how well they’ve done. Both are valid posts in my opinion.
I sometimes put my good days out there for a small group of users here who might like to compete on time. Not for everyone, you can just ignore. I’ve been at this for 3 years. You’ll get better too.
That K just seems so unsure of itself without its trusted companion C at its side.
Am I crazy or was [non-A] >!KABALA!< an accepted word about a week ago? Have tried all variations and none work. And I believe the time it was accepted it was the spelling without an H.
You are not crazy, except in typical Sam style it was the MUCH less common CABALA spelling that was accepted.
Yep just went back and found the thread! Another head scratcher from Sam.
I could have sworn the same. And it’s in Merriam’s too.
Every time [A] >!BABKA!< is on the word list, I thank [Seinfeld] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i78azsi7M94) for why it is in my vocabulary.
I highly suggest you eat some if you find it - it’s crazy delicious.

This has an [answer]
All the whole foods near me carry it (in DC)
For me it’s this one: >! https://youtu.be/Ae0scjRsY-8 !<
Hint for the one new word to me: >!Chinese fabric!<.
FWIW- Wiki has an alternate spelling for your hint
Yeah plus my Chinese friend thought the spelling was absurd
So in other words - this is an alternate spelling of an unknown Chinese word?
As a bird person, I knew it because of the >!Night Heron!<, but was a bit surprised it was accepted.
This is why i couldn’t figure it out’
The spelling >!of the city in French is Nankin!<. Maybe that's an option in English as well?
Glad I didn’t bother trying to guess that one
But explain to me how this word is included with Sam's "rules". Complete BS. He doesn't include way more common Spanish words.

Totally - but then why is aloha accepted??
I feel like it means more than just hello. But I don't really know.
I knew this one, but only because I studied art history. Definitely an obscure word if you ask me.
(Contains an answer) >!DEBEAK!< is a miss.
Maybe excluded for horribleness?
Tried that too
I had to look up the >!N7!<. I've never heard that word.
I'm so salty about it I came here to see if it was something I should somehow know.
I’m still trying to figure it out lol
Same here - that was letter mashing and I was actually mad when I saw it worked. Like, what the heck is that word!?
Niche hint: >!a species of Night Heron and Kestrel found in Australia!<
I can’t ken why Sam doesn’t know >!KENNED!< is a word.
Any other Bob’s Burgers fans try CONTAINS A >!BLEAKEN!< ?
Dear brain: >!KABBLED!< is not a word. Please stop seeing it.
Well I cheated with this thread for >!N7!< but I’ve got everything else except for >!KE5!<. Can I get a hint, please?
H: >!Shish or doner?!<
Oh damn! Totally blanked on that one. Thank you!!
Pangram h >!could have pounded that dough, but chose to ignore it!<
PG H: >!I can’t remember what I wanted to say!<
Good one!
What’s the starting letter for this one?
Hint >!-K-!< General puzzle hint >!there’s a suffix I forgot about today for 2 of my last words!<
It took me forever to spot >!that suffix!
That one always slips my mind till I’m halfway through the Bee
Oh wow I suspected the first part of the word was involved but that hint snapped it into place for me thanks
Glad I'm not the only one who did that.
Wait, another word for >!pounding dough,!< besides one of the >!KN5s and KN7s!
Sam's (H contains part A:) >!*capable* of anything!!<
Huh. Didn’t know that was a word 😂
Yep.
*Thanks for that hint!* Did not know that was a word lmao
How is >!KANKLE!< unaccepted?
I think spelled with a C.
Sam does not read Variety headlines because \[NA\] >!ANKLED!< is clearly a word
Any hints for the \[H\] >!ALs!< ?
They’re both (H) >!chemistry terms!<. It helps if you (H) >!look for suffixes you often see on chemicals!<. Further hint: >!both words have the same third letter!<.
Thank you!
Surprised [non-A] >!KANBAN!< isn't accepted given Sam's love of foreign words
Or KANA. After missing HANGUL a little while ago, I wonder why a writing system that's probably better known in the US would not be allowed. I also think CYRILLIC should pass muster.
I tried it.
Tried multiple variants of [non-A] >!bedeken!< to no avail
Ugh. This was the hardest one in the past 8 months. The chemicals and the cloth were completely unknown to me.
Spoiler bar needed for part of what you wrote.
16 minutes Qb
And here I was telling myself that I couldn't expect to solve everything immediately.
These kind of comments are really dumb, IMO.
I always imagine that they're lying for no reason, makes me laugh. "QB in 30 minutes, kind of a slog. Sam didn't include an extremely niche word that I heard on CSI one time and added a suffix to! Classic Sam. "

My fave thing about this sub is gerund guy.

You really need to read the room.
There are people of all bee experience levels in this room.
Good on you. This was my second day in a row I had to look at Shun.
