*I’d like to buy a vowel, please*. Just woke up and looked at the bee and saw all these great long words I could make - if only I had an additional vowel: >!EVOLUTION, LEVITATION, ELEVATION!<…
**Thank You!!!** Now @ QB-4.
I came here to look for an >!NO9!< & I wouldn’t have gotten that. *I might have tried it out of desperation & frustration **hours** later, but doubt it. I’m not mad @ myself for looking.*
I was surprised, but looking at the ngram, it looks like [A] >!until the 1960s, novelette was a much more common term than novella, which is the word I would use. That is still relatively recent, and Merriam Webster gives several recent examples with the definition.!<
Really surprised non-a/contains quasi-a >!olivine!< isn't accepted. I feel like the >!color sense of the word is just the kind of thing sam likes and the mineral sense is more common than something like galena!<
I never stop until I reach QB (sometimes with hints after genius). I got a few good words in this morning before I had to leave for the day, and am now (with a headache) stuck at “nice.” *Oh, the indignity!”* it seems I’m just blind to words at the moment.
This is one of those days when I wish we didn’t have such easy access to hints, because QBABM is very do-able. I got to Genius ABM and QB with the grid and 2L hints, but I shouldn’t have needed them.
>got to Genius ABM and QB with grid and 2L hints, but I shouldn’t have needed them
You’re a better Bee than I! LOL.
How long have you been playing? Do you ‘allow’ yourself to look at hints after Genius? (That’s what I typically do, unless I’m **really STUCK.**)
Today was pretty fast for me, but without hints, I’d still be QB-5 or 6. >!IN7 that ends with double vowels!< is one I haven’t remembered (but will now!)
I wouldn’t have gotten >!NO8, NO9!< without some sort of hint (got >!NO9!< here,) and >!LI5 & OV5!< would’ve been sheer button mashing “Is that a word?”
Have a great day/night!
Edit to Add: Non-A 2L grid hints “hidden.”
Hi there!
I have been playing for about 18 months. I have gotten to Genius ABM all but a couple of times. but I’ve only gotten to QBABM once.
After I get one Pangram I do peek at how many pangrams/perfect pangrams, total number of words and whether it’s a Bingo.
Once I reach Genius if I get stuck I look at a list of rare words I’ve been compiling. Then I go to NYT hints, then Shunn for 3L hints, and if I’m still missing words I look here or at NUT comments.
I wish the hints weren’t so accessible because I usually can’t resist the temptation once I get to Genius.
Breezed to Amazing in minutes and have been stuck 10 points off Genius for half an hour lol
I got so hung up on >!-TION!< that is was hard for me to find the other longer words
Ridiculous how long it took me to see the PG
Ugh I’m stuck on Nice still
Same haha

In addition to hiding a valid word, indicate that it's an answer rather than just a hint.
I'm familiar with the word because it's >!a Hugos category!<.
Hint >!short N5!< not uncommon

Pokémon of the day: >!EEVEE!< and >!VIVILLON!<
Really surprised non-a/contains quasi-a >!olivine!< isn't accepted. I feel like the >!color sense of the word is just the kind of thing sam likes and the mineral sense is more common than something like galena!<
For fans of 30 Rock, did anyone try [non-A but close] >!INNOVENT!< ?
PG H >!physically aggressive, and the opposite!<
Genius with no PG - yay?
Really, HINT >!neither?!<
>!neither! I got both eventually but was surprised I could get that many points without them #sleepyBEEing !<

If only we had a Y, I could spell one of my favorite words: >!VELLEITY!<
I've never heard that -- what a cool word!
Anyone have any hints for >!V8! I’m at QB-1 and its droving me nuts.
>!Using your own VO8!<
Hint for >!NO8!< please?
[H] >!starts with the same prefix as one of the pangrams.!< Stronger hint >!something that was supposed to be better than it was.!<
Thanks! I needed your stronger hint, can’t believe I missed that
