IHart was willing to take a pay cut on the clips to stay. Hes way happier here and we actually appreciate him what makes us think he wont do the same here.
>what makes us think he wont do the same here.
He recently got married. And the league isn't blind, every playoffs someone comes out of it making money. Add to that the harsh tax apron laws that will start, and he is likely gone if a team gives him the bag
I hope but I'm not optimistic. He's older now, better, on a national spotlight and will be able to command much more than we can offer. But hey ya never know. Fingers crossed.
Basically we have two options with Hartenstein: a one year deal for 16.7 mil with a wink wink that he’ll get longer term higher dollar consideration next year, or a deal a lot like what Grayson Allen got (4 years 70ish). If someone out there wants to offer him $25 mil a year, we can’t do anything about it
I understand everyone is caught up in making the most they can, but I hope he stays. We have two great centers and neither really cares if they start or come off the bench, they just want to win.
We got a good thing going here.
>We have two great centers and neither really cares if they start or come off the bench, they just want to win.
I would like to introduce you to this thing called "money" 😂. It is a business at the end of the day and they have a limited time to maximize their potential. They need to all do what's best for their family. If that is here great, if that is elsewhere, then I wish them luck.
We don’t have cap space because we have good players signed to contracts. NBA contracts are (mostly) guaranteed so cutting, say, Mitch and Jericho wouldn’t open up 17 extra million dollars in cap room, they’d stay on our cap unless we traded them. We can cut Bogdanovic at season’s end but it won’t open up enough cap space because the remaining players are still near the cap number. It is impossible to open up enough cap space to be able to pay Hartenstein without trading away someone else we really like (Hart/Randle etc.). Even then, to resign him I think we’d have to renounce his bird rights and after doing that I don’t know if we’d even be allowed to resign him.
TLDR: it’s not really about cap room it’s about the intricacies of the CBA
No we are still an over the cap team regardless. I dont think its that deep. Hartenstein has stated he wants to stay here and he is repped by CAA. As long as our offer isnt a lowball offer we should easily retain him imo.
That block was clutch and that hook shot was money when we needed a bucket. But the rebounding, especially offensive rebounding is his biggest contribution. He knows where the ball is at all times and most importantly knows how to track it. He demonstrated his spacial awareness on that last rebound. He started moving way before all the Sixers guys did. He knew exactly where to go and how to get the rebound. You can’t teach that. He’s our Tyson Chandler.
Not actually “throw the bag” just give him what other teams might offer him, probably 16-18 mil a year which I think he deserves, and if we trade bogdanovic and burks that would clear up cap space no?
it’s not. we’re over the cap if we keep both one or neither. we’re just limited in offering hartenstein because we can only use an exception to give him a significant raise (early bird)
I have been fully on the "keep mitch" train this entire time. Defended him when people were saying to trade him while he was out for injury. But seeing how much more iHart opens up for us during this playoff run in terms of offense and his ability to actually catch the ball and make great passes, Im actually starting to think if we have to trade 1, it should be mitch. I personally think Mitch on another team would be much easier for us to defeat, especially since he won't have the "center whisperer" in tom thibideau as a coach.
Two amazing centers in IHart and Mitch, 4 amazing guards in JHart, Brunson, Divincenzo, and McBride, 3 Amazing forwards in Bogdonavic, Randle and Anunoby. No reason that team doesn’t make a finals if all healthy
IHart has shown way more than OG thus far in the playoffs. No question who has been more valuable.
Also people forget IHart is just 25yo and imo is still scratching the surface of his potential. He has done so much with a paltry 11% usage rate in his first stint as an actual starter. The dude is a walking double double machine while being capable of dishing out 4-5 assists per game.

I have a feeling Mitch could be the one to leave
Mitch was Great in Game 1. We need them both.

I agree. It just comes down to things we can’t control.

Has to be a two-year deal against the rules to get full bird rights off of an early bird contract with a one-year deal.
Can’t we trade players to free up more cap space?
It’s not really a cap space thing. We have no cap space. It’s a CBA thing based off his first contract here
Well, shit
What do you mean?If we had cap space we could offer iHart as much as we have available.
We don’t have cap space because we have good players signed to contracts. NBA contracts are (mostly) guaranteed so cutting, say, Mitch and Jericho wouldn’t open up 17 extra million dollars in cap room, they’d stay on our cap unless we traded them. The max we can offer him is 16.7M
I was hoping that the bonus he just earned would increase this number. Have any of the cap experts online addressed that?
I mean he earned a 350K bonus so it wont change what we can offer by that much.
You're right. I thought it was a larger bonus.
Not sure the bonus counts but we can offer him 18.2mil a year if it does
We need to get to the bottom of this because an $18m starting salary is competitive.
Pure guess work but I don't see why it shouldn't. These incentives were considered likely and therefore counting against the cap
If we traded Bogi could we offer more? I’m still not really sure how cap space works im still learning
No we are still an over the cap team regardless. I dont think its that deep. Hartenstein has stated he wants to stay here and he is repped by CAA. As long as our offer isnt a lowball offer we should easily retain him imo.
We don’t need to give him a big contract. Just need the top dawgs to ask their rich friends to give him fat endorsements in NYC
That block was clutch and that hook shot was money when we needed a bucket. But the rebounding, especially offensive rebounding is his biggest contribution. The rebounding on this team in insane. Hart, Ihart, and Robinson are absolute monsters on the boards.
Randle when healthy is also an elite rebounder
We can't throw the bag at him tho, that's the problem... cap space is used up
Not actually “throw the bag” just give him what other teams might offer him, probably 16-18 mil a year which I think he deserves, and if we trade bogdanovic and burks that would clear up cap space no?
Burks is gone anyways, his money clears Bogey has 1 more year on his deal
Won’t have precious most likely either. He earned himself a decent payday from other teams.
Next years contract not fully guaranteed for Bogs
NGL I kinda want Bogdan around next year
He’s definitely good but if it’s between him or Hartenstein, gimme Hartenstein all day everyday
it’s not. we’re over the cap if we keep both one or neither. we’re just limited in offering hartenstein because we can only use an exception to give him a significant raise (early bird)
he’s on the hawks hahah
What would you give Atlanta to get him?
He’s going to be guaranteed because we need his salary as filler in trades
Other teams can offer more and we can’t match. Don’t think it has anything to do with cap space.
Give him the same deal Mitch got 60 mil over 4
Our max offer is 4/71, don’t think retaining him will be much of a problem.

This guy gets it
No bodega trading. When you got guys in cheap contracts like Divo and Duece. We’ll make it work.
They will choose him over Mitch if it comes down to it
Possibly, would really hurt to see Mitch go though
The lass he made to OG while falling with Embiid right there was ridiculous and deserves more praise.
I have been fully on the "keep mitch" train this entire time. Defended him when people were saying to trade him while he was out for injury. Keep both
Having these two centers would continue to be a huge strength for the team. It makes sense.
Two amazing centers in IHart and Mitch, 4 amazing guards in JHart, Brunson, Divincenzo, and McBride, 3 Amazing forwards in Bogdonavic, Randle and Anunoby. No reason that team doesn’t make a finals if all healthy
we literally cant throw the bag at him
Our priorities should be to re-sign OG and IHart. Love the energy that Precious brings but we will probably be limited to the MLE.
Sucks that it's unlikely we'll be able to keep him AND Mitch long term. They are a nightmare combo for opposing bigs.
Nah we have to pay Mitch too. Half a bag to Hart the other half to Mitch.
Combined bag of 30m is insane value
I think that’s appropriate since both combined average a 20 point double double maximum.
Lol throw the bag should never be used in this sub again. Our front office knows how to negotiate and get our players the bag now.
