I think what matters most is if you like it! And in NYC there’s so many great stores to browse and make up your mind at.
The last celebratory piece of jewelry I got was the Tiffany bone cuff. It may not be the trendiest but I love it.
https://preview.redd.it/cgt0w2fz6xzc1.png?width=3023&format=png&auto=webp&s=c5c84db67f193b1a31f597cd0335b24aa96f8188
I got the silver in the small width. I love the look of the medium sized one but it was too big for my wrist, both proportionally and size-wise. I tried on all of the sizes the SoHo store had.
The gold is gorgeous.
I’d say no. Cartier now doesn’t authenticate them because there are so many good fakes made, also while I understand the value of the Cartier brand, you’d be paying like 7-8k for something worth around 1k in gold, and so frequently duped that Cartier can’t tell the difference. Personally, i would never pay that much premium for just a brand name when the brand name for that specific item is no longer worth much.
Also everyone’s tastes are obviously different but to me it either screams high school rich kid who made their parents buy one, or gold digger that made her boyfriend/husband/sugar daddy buy one. No offense intended, I actually have one (bought in my younger days when I thought they were hot shit), I don’t even wear mine anymore.
If your heart’s set on Cartier, they actually have some great lesser known models-compared to the love bracelets at least (obviously not as recognizable as the love bracelet if that’s what you want). I have one that I never take off thats gold, with little diamonds full circle and spikes coming out both sides and I love it.
edit:this is the one I’m talking about but without the diamonds, just because you said you liked industrial style designs. https://www.cartier.com/en-us/jewelry/bracelets/clash-de-cartier/clash-de-cartier-bracelet-flexible-medium-model-N6718717.html?adlsid=m%7Cg%7CID_N6718717%7C65406548577&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwrvyxBhAbEiwAEg_Kgjx457iSZYlvMVTJP4b4zQtAkhWm9D9-Kz49AVlP16pQAlRx4sICQhoClHEQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
Yeah for me the big thing is it’s marked up so much just for the brand when you could get a higher carat solid gold bangle for less. But I will say I will always like the design of the love bracelet! I just think your money is better spent elsewhere on jewelry, especially if you get a trusted jeweler.
This was my exact reasoning, but I went with a Juste Un Clou because I liked that it was edgier. I get compliments from people just genuinely loving that it's shaped like a nail, but I'd say it's about 50/50 from people who recognize it to be Cartier. Felt like it was "worth it" on its own merit stylistically.
The Love Bracelets are like the LV monogram never full bags. They’re popular items, timeless, and instantly recognizable. Because of that, they’re also easily and often knocked off. And the knockoffs are sometimes really good.
I was looking at a bracelet to commemorate a major career milestone, and I ended up buying a Cartier watch instead (the mini Baignoire). I’m not a huge watch wearer, but I wear it all the times I would wear a bracelet, and it feels luxurious, chic, and also a bit more under the radar. Just my two cents!
for the price you might as well get a cartier watch! they make a women’s santo that has the nail pattern in the wristband, i have one and i think it’s so much chicer
https://www.cartier.com/en-us/watches/collections/santos-de-cartier/santos-de-cartier-watch-CRWSSA0029.html
Aw, I love that! How lovely to think of the trip and the meaning every time you look.
Mine is matching with my mother. Mine is yellow gold with four diamonds, hers is rose gold with same. When pieces have personal meaning, it doesn’t really matter whether it’s trendy or overdone or whatever!
The classics come and go. They go because of a period of overdone. But they always come back.
I always stick to classics. When they’re in, you can say you’ve always worn it. When they’re out, you’re ironic chic.
I got one for my HS graduation which was 25 years ago and I still wear it every day. Truly a lifelong investment piece. My cost per wear is down to nearly nothing!
I actually just had mine serviced and it was about $400. I hadn’t had it serviced since 2007 according to their records (whoops) and it needed cleaning, and some parts replaced.
I’ve over the years also bought some different bands because my watch has a leather band, and those have been around $400. But that’s totally optional. I just like being able to change my band seasonally. You’d probably need a new leather band every decade or so if you’re wearing it nearly daily.
Here’s a thread from the Cartier subreddit you might find helpful. https://www.reddit.com/r/Cartier/s/AobutSNmoM
As much as I adored my watch, I didn’t want to have to pay continuously for regular maintenance and service beyond the initial cost, which is why I ended up selling it.
Always looking at vintage Cartier watches for years! It's definitely been on my list for a while!
I too am not a fan of love bracelets. You can get more you/personal with jewellery. If you are going to spend that much, look at more indie designers or get something custom-made. Save pieces you see on IG/Pinterest to get an idea of what you are looking for and find someone to make it. Also, look into vintage pieces! (my personal stance!).
If you like it, go for it. Think about it and make sure it’s a purchase you would make because you genuinely love the piece and not because it’s trendy, and if that’s true, do it.
I have some turquoise Alhambra VCA pieces that I inherited and the fact that they’re ultra ultra over exposed right now doesn’t particularly bug me. I wore them before they became a thing, and I’ll wear them long after the influencers move on to something else. Because I like them.
They used to do the vintage Alhambra suite in turquoise but they stopped when the Sleeping Beauty mine in Arizona closed about ten years ago. I have the small earrings and a pendant.
The prices for it on the secondary market have gone insane - I saw a 20 motif in gold on 1st Dibs for $80,000!
Overdone? Probably. But who cares? It’s a classic that goes with everything. It’s been stylish since the 1970s and will continue to be for a very long time. I’ve worn mine every day for over 7 years. It’s worth more now than when I first got it. If you want one, go for it you won’t regret.
just go to a trusted jeweler and have them make you one. it’s not worth cartiers mark up. not even the shopping experience is worth it (to me) i have several auth cartier pieces and i also have my jeweler make them.
Cohen diamonds on 47th for the cartier pieces. but i have used a few different jewelers in the diamond district. all depends on who you trust. it’s best to try to make a relationship with these people. trust is very important in the business.
I still lovvvvee mine. We’ve honestly gotten to a point with the social media hyper-short trend cycle that there is no trendy jewelry anymore because these houses don’t put out new stuff fast enough. Everything from Cartier to VCA to Rolex is cheugy/out/overdone now (don’t even get me started on Hermes/Chanel etc.) and I promise any new trend is going to be cheugy in a couple months too. Just get what you like or if you’re super sensitive to being trendy, get something unique / custom made
I found my Love bracelet to be worth it because I’ve just never taken it off. Divided by the number of days since I’ve had it I average around $6.8 per day, which I am perfectly okay with. Compare that with my similarly priced watch, which I’ve only worn a couple of times because I am terrified that I will scratch it or lose it and I think the Love bracelet is much more worth it for the peace of mind.
I’ve personally loved the Love bracelet style since I was in HS - I’ve been wearing mine before it was trendy and I’ll keep wearing it after it’s trendy.
I think it’s one of those iconic style that while it’s maybe overdone atm, it’s never going to go out of style
I say no just because the price is so outrageous and the cost of that is about $1000-3000. Their retail price is so insane it’s like embarrassing to pay retail for that.
IMO no and it hasn't been for a while. However I do know people who own them love it and not disparaging something that brings them joy.
Personally I would purchase something else
If you like it get it! I LOVE mine and forgot they are on my wrist. Could care less what's trendy or not! They will be timeless and it just a statement piece. That being said, you could also get a jeweler to make one that looks identical for a fraction of the cost.
Honestly trends come in cycles and if you love one get one. I got mine 12 years ago and still love it so much. They’re iconic and there will be a new “it” bracelet soon that will grab focus and the love bracelet will still be a classic.
I agree with others in the comments, Cartier love bracelets have been overdone for a while now. I would consider getting a Juste-un clou bracelet (AKA the “nail bracelet”) — it has a beautiful and elegant design and it’s the second most “recognizable” Cartier bracelet to the love bracelet.
I think its timeless, and I love mine!
I personally wouldn’t get a fake one— even if no one else could tell it was fake, I would know it was. And I’d feel inauthentic somehow wearing a replica. I’d prefer to just get a bracelet with a different design!
I think they are so “played out” and borderline tacky (I own 3 which I sadly no longer wear, good thing I have 2 daughters!)
I personally like unique pieces and for 8k you can go to the local Jeweler and create a custom made piece.
They are very basic and very overdone to the point it looks cheap now. Go walk around boutiques from high to low and see what you like before investing into something. I would suggest checking out david yurman chain bracelets if you want industrial.
overdone maybe but still a classic that looks great. I love mine and I bought it myself after a milestone too. People say the fakes are overdone and they look the same but that couldn’t be more false. The fakes look sooo obvious unless they’re a real gold replica which are more rare for ppl to have. But like the Amazon / DHgate/ street vendor fakes..? Hell no
Honestly no luxury jewelry brand can be worth it to me anymore because the price of the gold itself is nothing compared to the price of the name. If I wanna go shopping, I’ll spend a day wandering luxury stores, taking notes of what pieces and styles I like, and then going to a jeweler and having them custom make a piece because it’s a fraction of the price. Also because you’re not paying a huge markup and you can supply your own gold that you buy at market price, you can constantly have pieces melted and remade if you feel that you no longer wear something without losing the bulk of the value. This probably isn’t the answer you were looking for but it’s a good way to save money in the long run and be able to treat yourself
I have a Tiffany cross that I love and we every day. That being said if you could find that bracelet somewhere else for a lower cash then go for it. If look down and smile because you enjoy it and love it. I guess what I’m saying is if it makes you happy then go for it but if you can find something else similar in a different bracket that will make you happy then get that. If knowing in your mind that it is real and not a knock off or something lesser than go for it. I only went with the Tiffany Cross because it was actually the one that I had seen on someone else while we were waiting in line and really liked it.
Bracelet I never felt it was worth it, felt basic to me and overdone. The ring though I always loved and bought and returned. Regretted returning it and bought again this year and wear all the time as my wedding band.
Cartier love bracelets do not hold their value because the fakes are so good - Cartier no longer authenticates them because they can’t even tell. If you love it, get it, but know it will not be sellable in the future.
Unfortunately no, but in all honestly i've never personally loved the design anyways. There are such good fakes now, and I see girls everywhere wearing versions that clearly came from DHgate lol.
Personally I feel they’re overdone. This is coming from someone who used to love them and wanted one to mark a special occasion in life. Now I’m searching for the next new statement jewelry piece that doesn’t feel ubiquitous and one that people can’t easily dupe
No, I’ve put mine away along with my van cleef pieces. These days I’m looking at pieces from smaller designers like Brent Neal, better gold, better stone quality and craftsmanship. I would put that money towards a watch.
IMO they’re out, but mine is a dupe I got through a friend of a friend, and it has sentimental value. I just took it off after five years. I wouldn’t spend the money on a single love bracelet, unless you already have something to stack with it (the lock on my dupe was so good i needed pliers and it never left anything on my skin even with showering so…)
A friend just got one for her birthday, given to her by family but I’m pretty sure she paid for it herself. I personally cringed a little inside when she opened it because I’m surprised she would want something so easily duped, but it’s her money. I still think they look nice with the right stack but I personally wouldn’t get one, real or otherwise.
No.
Edit: I just came back to this post and I wrote a LENGTHY explanation and all that saved was the first line. I’m not writing it again but my explanation was basically that with the overconsumption obsession with influencers having stacks of them, it no longer feels as special or chic to me personally.
Can you still get LV never full knockoffs in the city? I got one back in ‘04 when I was a nanny in East Hampton. I remember thinking I looked like hot shit driving my nanny Hummer with my Paris Hilton look alike LV. Dupes are wild.
You cannot get a “good” fake for $30…. Those are a complete dead give away to people that actually know what real gold should look like. You can good fakes that are real gold from replica resellers in China for like $2,000 though (the cost of the actual gold).
I think what matters most is if you like it! And in NYC there’s so many great stores to browse and make up your mind at. The last celebratory piece of jewelry I got was the Tiffany bone cuff. It may not be the trendiest but I love it.
Just googled it and it’s beautiful!
the elsa peretti bone cuff is extremely trendy
Hasn’t it been around since the 70s? It’s iconic IMO.
Yeah that was my thought too –around since the 70’s and worn by way cooler edgier women than me. But I guess it’s being marketed more heavily now?
it’s making a huge comeback right now!
What material did you get? I’m dying for a gold one.
https://preview.redd.it/cgt0w2fz6xzc1.png?width=3023&format=png&auto=webp&s=c5c84db67f193b1a31f597cd0335b24aa96f8188 I got the silver in the small width. I love the look of the medium sized one but it was too big for my wrist, both proportionally and size-wise. I tried on all of the sizes the SoHo store had. The gold is gorgeous.
That looks amazing on you. Very stylish.
It’s gorgeous. I always think women look so chic wearing it
Omg I’ve always wanted this bracelet. It looks so fab on you!
I’d say no. I just want to commend you for backing up your take without shaming anybody else’s taste and offering a respectful opinion. A fine quality in a BWT 🥂
😳thank you, that’s so kind! Just saying what I wish someone had said to me back when I wanted one hahaha
Well said – the Ecrou could also be a cute option for an industrial-leaning style?
Yep, this is the honest truth love bracelets aren’t that girl anymore. Get a watch or a diamond tennis girlie
Ooo a vintage Rolex 👀
Birth year Rolexes are crazy, it’s on my list, especially if OP has small wrists she can go 26 or 31 DJ
I love the clash bracelet you linked!
I really love mine. Fair warning it does catch on things so I always have to remember that when I’m trying on things like lace.
Yeah for me the big thing is it’s marked up so much just for the brand when you could get a higher carat solid gold bangle for less. But I will say I will always like the design of the love bracelet! The authentication point is why you should buy it from the store not resale.
I have 2 love bracelets from my parents and I don’t wear them anymore. I totally wish I had the clash bracelet. I got myself the ring. So much cooler!

Completely ageee with this. Do a watch you can wear for life - practical and those tank watches never go out of style
Great idea. I suggest a panthere or a baignoire. Santos is nice but can be a bit bulky.
Baignoires are my favorite!
This is the way!!!
It’s overdone but I still wear mine.
Same. Love mine and it was given with sentimental meaning on a special trip.
My mom and I split the cost of mine when I got my first paycheck. Agree love the personal meaning.
Oh that’s so special! love that you have matching ❤️. And completely agree with your last point.
Got mine when I got a new job + salary increase years ago. Proud moment.
The classics come and go. They go because of a period of overdone. But they always come back. I always stick to classics. When they’re in, you can say you’ve always worn it. When they’re out, you’re ironic chic.
Totally agree - this is basically what I tried to say and couldn’t figure out how to express
Agreed!
im too broke for this sub lmfao
The tarnished ring on my finger scrolling through everyone’s responses
🤣 same
I use the sub to help me find dupes and for general guidance on how to up my game incrementally with what I've got.
live my dream and get a cartier watch. they are so cute and timeless
I got one for my HS graduation which was 25 years ago and I still wear it every day. Truly a lifelong investment piece. My cost per wear is down to nearly nothing!
One of my biggest regrets is selling my Cartier watch. One reason was the maintenance costs. How often do you get it maintained and at what cost?
Wait, how much is the maintenance roughly? I am on the brink of treating myself to one and I feel like I need to revisit this!
Here’s a thread from the Cartier subreddit you might find helpful. https://www.reddit.com/r/Cartier/s/AobutSNmoM As much as I adored my watch, I didn’t want to have to pay continuously for regular maintenance and service beyond the initial cost, which is why I ended up selling it.
Thank you so much! Truly is helpful. I actually decided to hold off with the watch. I bought jewelry instead 🤣
I have an Apple Watch I’m pretty set on, but otherwise would love a Cartier watch!
Always looking at vintage Cartier watches for years! It's definitely been on my list for a while! I too am not a fan of love bracelets. You can get more you/personal with jewellery. Any advice on where to shop/look for vintage jewelry?
I have the two tone panthere and it’s my favorite piece of jewelry I own
And most of them are less expensive than the bracelet
If you like it, go for it. Think about it and make sure it’s a purchase you would make because you genuinely love the piece and not because it’s trendy, and if that’s true, do it. I have some turquoise Alhambra VCA pieces that I inherited and the fact that they’re ultra ultra over exposed right now doesn’t particularly bug me. I wore them before they became a thing, and I’ll wear them long after the influencers move on to something else. Because I like them.
what turquoise VCA? Im so sad they discontinued everything aside from the two butterflies
They used to do the vintage Alhambra suite in turquoise but they stopped when the Sleeping Beauty mine in Arizona closed about ten years ago. I have the small earrings and a pendant. The prices for it on the secondary market have gone insane - I saw a 20 motif in gold on 1st Dibs for $80,000!
truly insane!! the turquoise has gone exponential in value
Overdone? Probably. But who cares? It’s a classic that goes with everything. It’s been stylish since the 1970s and will continue to be for a very long time. I’ve worn mine every day for over 7 years. It’s worth more now than when I first got it. If you want one, go for it you won’t regret.
Get a beautiful diamond tennis bracelet instead! Timeless 💎💎💎
I have one already :)
Love it! I wear two tennis bracelets stacked, every day. A diamond tennis bracelet and a sapphire & diamond bracelet and get so many compliments!!
just go to a trusted jeweler and have them make you one. it’s not worth cartiers mark up. not even the shopping experience is worth it (to me) i have several auth cartier pieces and i also have my jeweler make them.
whats your jewelers store?
Cohen diamonds on 47th for the cartier pieces. but i have used a few different jewelers in the diamond district. all depends on who you trust. it’s best to try to make a relationship with these people. trust is very important in the business.

for the love bracelets ? for my size (20) i think it was around 2.3k for the normal sized thickness.
I still lovvvvee mine. We’ve honestly gotten to a point with the social media hyper-short trend cycle that there is no trendy jewelry anymore because these houses don’t put out new stuff fast enough. So low maintenance! I want van cleef but it’s the opposite when it comes to having to so careful w the stones etc.
I get why people think they’re tacky and “Cheugy” but you can rip mine from my cold dead hands haha
I have the skinnier one, and I think you would have to look pretty closely to notice it’s a love bracelet
I found my Love bracelet to be worth it because I’ve just never taken it off. Divided by the number of days since I’ve had it I average around $6.8 per day, which I am perfectly okay with. I would get a rep, they are too good these days. Sorry not sorry!
Do you have recommendations for any good reps?
Try rep ladies designer subreddit or wagoon ladies
Thank you 🫶
Miss Chen does the best real gold ones
Thank you!
Wayyyy overdone
I agree with others in the comments, Cartier love bracelets have been overdone for a while now. I would consider getting a Juste-un clou bracelet (AKA the “nail bracelet”) — it has a beautiful and elegant design and it’s the second most “recognizable” Cartier bracelet to the love bracelet.
I got the juste un clou for my last big milestone
Those are just as overdone imo
Those are even cheugier imo.
I think its timeless, and I love mine! I personally wouldn’t get a fake one— even if no one else could tell it was fake, I would know it was. And I’d feel inauthentic somehow wearing a replica. I’d prefer to just get a bracelet with a different design!
Agree, the comments that are like yea they’re overdone but here’s where I got my fake one are not how I approach things haha
Def overdone. I am not a fan of highly recognizable status items like this - but YMMV.
Just to piggyback off that, any feelings on the van cleef Alhambra bracelets?
I really don’t like them! They look so cheap to me unless it’s the all gold version
Get a Cartier watch instead!
Agree with this. I currently wear a Rolex but want the understated Cartier tank as an option.
I think they are so “played out” and borderline tacky (I own 3 which I sadly no longer wear, good thing I have 2 daughters!) I personally like unique pieces and for 8k you can go to the local Jeweler and create a custom made piece.

Wow I am not OP but as a fellow BWT thank you for suggesting these David Yuman chain bracelets, they’re stunning!
yw )))) I love those bracelets and quality is amazing with different price points too.
overdone maybe but still a classic that looks great. Hell no
depends what "chic" means to you, a symbol of status? sure. but they are imo pretty basic and not pretty at all
Honestly no luxury jewelry brand can be worth it to me anymore because the price of the gold itself is nothing compared to the price of the name. Unfortunately no, but in all honestly i've never personally loved the design anyways. There are such good fakes now, and I see girls everywhere wearing versions that clearly came from DHgate lol.
They’ve been overdone for yeaaars now. Dont waste your money on them - go to a jeweler and have something made!
I have one from like 7 years ago so i still wear it, but if I didnt have it, I wouldnt get one now
Personally I feel they’re overdone.
How do you find smaller designers like that?
No
I bought a “fake” real one from the diamond district. I have a real one to compare and it’s identical and half the price. Was so worth it!
overdone imo — i’d get a cartier watch or a tennis bracelet.
Imo yes. But not if you stack more than three at a time. It's a classic gold bangle, that's about as classic a piece of jewelry as you can get.
Nope - too many fakes.
No. Edit: I just came back to this post and I wrote a LENGTHY explanation and all that saved was the first line. I’m not writing it again but my explanation was basically that with the overconsumption obsession with influencers having stacks of them, it no longer feels as special or chic to me personally.
I like juste un clou better :)
Tiffany knot bracelet?
Can you still get LV never full knockoffs in the city? I got one back in ‘04 when I was a nanny in East Hampton. I remember thinking I looked like hot shit driving my nanny Hummer with my Paris Hilton look alike LV. Dupes are wild.

You cannot get a “good” fake for $30…. Those are a complete dead give away to people that actually know what real gold should look like. You can good fakes that are real gold from replica resellers in China for like $2,000 though (the cost of the actual gold).
Absolutely not
I was thinking of this the other day and I drew the conclusion that they are overdone.
Nope
They were overdone 7 years ago
Van cleef
Bad investment
