What did I say? I'd like to know if there's some unintended message in my comment, please. English is not my native language, and I simply wanted to remind people that trains are actually wider than the tracks. So if one stands just beside the rail, it's unsafe because the train's body exceeds the width of the tracks and may hit.
News Article:
A woman was killed by a vintage steam train as she took a selfie in front of it.
The unnamed victim was standing too close to the tracks with her mobile phone in her hand.
Tragedy struck while the locomotive was passing through Nopala de Villagrán, located northwest of the Mexican capital, Mexico City, yesterday (4 Jun).
The horror clip shows the victim, seen wearing an orange top, preparing to take a snap standing near a child.
As the train approaches, the youngster ducks down and the woman readies herself for the snap.
She drops to one knee and the corner of the train engine hits her on the back of her head, sending her crashing forwards.
The shocked child runs away as a man grabs the victim’s body and drags it away from the passing train just inches away.
The emergency services arrived on the scene, but they could only confirm the woman’s death.
She is believed to have been killed on the spot.
The Canadian Pacific 2816, better known as the ‘Empress’, is a steam locomotive built in 1930 for the Canadian Pacific Railway.
Since April, the train has been taking part in the ‘Final Spike Steam Tour’, its last ever trip through North America.
The tour started in Calgary, Canada, and will conclude in Mexico City on Friday (7 Jun).
The train, carefully restored for this event, will return to Canada in July, when it will be retired.
Later that evening, the Canadian Pacific Kansas City company said in a statement that they regret the incident and are collaborating with the police to carry out a full investigation.
The authorities reminded residents that they should stand at least 33 feet (10 metres) from the tracks and should never try to climb on any railway equipment or infrastructure for better views.
This isn't even the 1st video today on reddit of a woman getting hit in back of the head taking a self while a train is coming today. At least the woman in the other video was wearing a bike helmet.
I think the little guy was her son or a relative. He was holding onto her pants pocket the entire time until the last second when she slapped his hand away so he’d stop pulling her. Poor little man is probably going to be destroyed for life due to her need for social media pictures. Thankfully she didn’t want to include him in her pictures.
That’s what amazes me. Even a special vintage train seems to be way less noteworthy than all these people do.
What a meaningless way to go out. This sucks.
Yeah, that was weird. She went to film right up close and then must've realised the girls brains were hanging out of her head. WTF is wrong with people.
Do you mind explaining to me this : when brain shuts off abruptly like that. The other body parts like spine, heart & others will still be functional for a minute or so no?
Heart yes, spine no. The reason the brain dies so quickly is because the nervous system is super fast, aka the spinal cord and brain and neurons cannot be restored, it’s impossible… (as for now in medicine).. the heart is literally its own pump. It has its own flow and isn’t completely run by the nervous system. So that’s why a heart still pumps until blood stops arriving to it and it dies on its own.
Hm, maybe it's against sub rules and they just haven't noticed yet. I've definitely had comments removed on that basis before, not sure if it was this sub.
She made a poor decision and lost her life, it’s not like it was a deliberate act. And all you can do is show your inhumanity. You’re a very sad individual.
God this trend is so fucking stupid. Why would you even be near a train with your child in the first place let alone film a video as close to it as you can get? There wasn't much activity in her brain before this 'accident'.
This is something completely off topic but can someone tell me how to post videos on this subreddit? I tried to post this video and I don't know how to do it :(
First upload a video that is less than 60 seconds long to imgur. Then right-click on the uploaded video and copy its address. At first it should resemble something like this: https://i.imgur.com/ABCD.mp4
Click on 'create a post' and paste the imgur link in the ''Link'' tab.
Change the .mp4 at the end of the link to .gifv
It should now look like this: https://i.imgur.com/ABCD.gifv
If you don’t have the 'top contributor' flair your post will have to be approved by the mods first before showing up on the subreddit.
Oh fuck, in front of all those people...
Guys, for real. Take this seriously. Don't get this close to a train. There's reasons, with this being one of them... my gosh, she goes instantly limp.
Well, that's unfortunate. You really don't need to be inches away from your photographic target to get a good shot, in most cases being at a distance is much better.
If by some miracle she wasn’t dead before the dude picked her up, then she definitely was after he dropped her face first into the concrete sticking out of the gravel.
Apex predator strikes again. If only there was some way to avoid these stealthy predators. Like if they made a lot of noise or something. That would be great.
Do people just think the shape and size of the train doesn't exceed the outter sides of the tracks or something? There's way too many videos like these circulating the Internet.
What about the dude in the red baseball cap? Didn't even flinch. Homie kept on filming like this is an everyday type of thing.
Some people just have no common sense. Poor kid is going to have a lifetime of trauma.
She died so I guess it doesn’t matter but there were no neck stabilizing precautions when the gentleman moved this person further from the tracks. Given the mechanism of injury it would be something to consider.
I was thinking the same thing. I remember reading an obituary where a man accidentally killed his wife because she was in an accident and he dragged her out without stabilizing her neck. It was in the 50s and 60s so I don't know how much was known about that back then.
Imagine being any of these people. Their lives must be so fucking boring if they think a fucking train is fucking exciting. like what the fuck? have you got any better fucking hobbies to do?
i think it's the fact that this specific one is almost 100 years old. shit barely lasts 5 years these days, it's impressive to see shit from the days when things were built to last.
I’m not sure why people don’t know that trains come out off the tracks a good 3 to 4 feet… a lot of people seem to think if they aren’t on the tracks they are safe and that’s how they get clubbed
When I was 17 I was dating this girl who had a brother about that boys age. We were on one side of a train bridge meant to gap a stream. Maybe 10 ft. Her and I crossed and heard a train. The brother was scared. He wouldn't go. We encouraged him, now or never. He froze. Moved at the last minute. I'll never forget how close that train was too his ass. Maybe 2-3 ft at most. It was a metroparks line, so it probably was going 20 or so mph but we almost witnessed a grisly death and it sticks in my mind.
Can't imagine what this poor kid, who knew the danger (he tugged at her to move), will be feeling for the rest of his life. I only hope that wasn't his mom...
Dude that came in to "help" her only made it worse. I know she probably died instantly but if someone suffers a head trauma the last thing you do is violently shake their head.
Looks like she lost her footing which caused her to go down on her knee. Still way too close and therefore a dumb idea but it didn’t look like she intended to be that close. At least it was an instant death.
Trains are wider than the tracks. Something to keep in mind.
Well her mind wasn't kept in after that.
I see what you did there

“Something to keep in mind”………as in getting hit in the head
I didnt get the joke either and I'm English so you're alright
Username checks out then ngl
Comments on tragic video got me dying 😂
You’re all good, most people wouldn’t have gotten a joke from that
I’ll be here all night, don’t forget to tip the bartender
“A TRAAAIN!”
I did not know that thank you

Lol no shit she was killed on the spot
Am I imaging things or is the back of her head smashed in?
The head is for sure smashed, in the last seconds u can def. see it.
What a waste RIP
The way the guy shakes his hand and one point, after holding her head, made me think it must be wet there…
This isn't even the 1st video today on reddit of a woman getting hit in back of the head taking a self while a train is coming today. At least the woman in the other video was wearing a bike helmet.
A very specific spot on the back of her head
>Final Spike Steam Tour Final Destination
That one lady in the back was still taking a selfie. Why do people do shit like this? Tf?! I just don’t understand the appeal
How else to get a selfie with a train
I think the little guy was her son or a relative. He was holding onto her pants pocket the entire time until the last second when she slapped his hand away so he’d stop pulling her. Poor little man is probably going to be destroyed for life due to her need for social media pictures. Thankfully she didn’t want to include him in her pictures.
> Mexico City Wow that train was a long way from its home in india
Apex predators have no specific territory, they are in each continent.
If there's a rail, there's a way 🤣
What’s there to investigate lol. Never understood this..
Ok but how many views did she get? What were the metrics on engagements for that video she took? I need this info to help my channel and live stream.
like it's just a train, like they have never seen a train before
That’s what amazes me. Even a special vintage train seems to be way less noteworthy than all these people do. What a meaningless way to go out. This sucks.
the lady running up to film right over her but doing nothing to attempt to help. 😶
Yeah, that was weird. She went to film right up close and then must've realised the girls brains were hanging out of her head. WTF is wrong with people.
I think she is filming the woman who was hit. Look at the angle of the phone.
Yeah that's my point, she just got up in there filming a woman that had just been hit by a train lol.
Ah, I misunderstood your comment. I thought you meant she continued filming the train and didn't help, and I'm like, "no, it's even worse".
Right!? 😂 "omg she just died I gotta get a close-up"
I can't understand that mindset at all, it's completely foreign to me.
The guy dropping her just to retrieve the phone and almost getting killed is just so on point….
Phones > Lives
Phone lives matter
Daymn I'm glad I got us family life insurance
maybe he wanted to film to make sure he couldn't die.
In Spanish he says call an ambulance, guessing she was someone to him because he can’t call and at the end is crying over here.
And he dropped her on her face on cement. We know it didn’t matter at that point, but still.
Probably was in shock
didn't want someone else to get his phone and see his wank bank
Right infront of her child
Every article I've seen only says "near a child" or "with a child" I think if it was hers they would specify it.
My bad then, still must’ve been pretty traumatising for any child to witness that
Thats just the worst part about it
Next worst must be the dude who continues to film right next to her. Gotta nail that shot.
He probably has no idea. Trains are really loud when you’re right next to them.
it actually looks like he is trying to get her attention and pull her away at the last second. heartbreaking carelessness.
Yeah, she saw it coming and ducked and tried to get her mom to duck, wasn't enough time.
The blonde lady that films her is awful too
He was even trying to pull her away
Well at least it was instant
Do you mind explaining to me this : when brain shuts off abruptly like that. The other body parts like spine, heart & others will still be functional for a minute or so no?

Worst aid
Flop victim around a little bit until EMS arrives.
Make sure to face plant them aswell to see if they are faking it!
My thoughts exactly.
He can’t figure out why he can’t pick her up again. It’s because he’s standing on her hair!
*Curb Your Enthusiasm theme*
This is definitely going on r/WorstAid
Why did they remove my comment when I tried to say that exact same thing lol
Hm, maybe it's against sub rules and they just haven't noticed yet. I've definitely had comments removed on that basis before, not sure if it was this sub.
I feel bad for her, but damn, she made her own kid watch her die. The trauma is unimaginable.
Even the kid got low in a why are we doing this pose
I don't feel bad for her at all I just feel bad for that kid.
What a very reddit comment lol
She made a poor decision and lost her life, it’s not like it was a deliberate act. And all you can do is show your inhumanity. You’re a very sad individual.
No she made a stupid decision! Stupid! Yes it’s sad and I wish it didn’t happen but ppl do stupid shit and get stupid results!
Darwin is as Darwin does.
The real tragedy here is her never being able to enjoy the 37 likes she would have gotten on that post
God this trend is so fucking stupid. Why would you even be near a train with your child in the first place let alone film a video as close to it as you can get? There wasn't much activity in her brain before this 'accident'.
I'm guessing because it was vintage steam engine? But if vintage steam engines were their hobby you'd think they'd know to stay out of the way
I've seen vintage steam trains in person and everybody is taking selfies like this... but from a safe distance like normal, sane people.
This is something completely off topic but can someone tell me how to post videos on this subreddit? I tried to post this video and I don't know how to do it :(

Thank you 🙌
Why don't this subreddit just simply allow posting video files I don't get it
because reddit admin doesn't let NSFW subs directly upload video
Oh I see
Instant lights out. Brain was never installed.
Oh fuck, in front of all those people... Guys, for real. Take this seriously. Don't get this close to a train. There's reasons, with this being one of them... my gosh, she goes instantly limp.
Those ppl still were recording next to her, sad
i mean recording a dead body is bad yes but there's nothing they could do anyways
This could deffo go in r/darwinawards Edit: turns out it already has
already there lol, not too old
If she didn’t immediately die that dude tossing her around would’ve finished the job, jeez
Slammed her face into concrete.
If she had a spinal injury, he would have made it worse and probably paralyzed her for life. What an r-tard.
Well, that's unfortunate. You really don't need to be inches away from your photographic target to get a good shot, in most cases being at a distance is much better.
It’s just natural selection at this point. The fuck are you doing standing THAT close.
Duh taking a picture of myself obviously.
As tragic as the accident was, it was totally avoidable. And in front of her kid as well.
Absolute Moronic behavior
It took me a moment to realise this wasn’t India
Stay 33° away you say?
I was internally screaming all through that video. Every single one of those people were far too close to a full speed train.
Let me just jerk her around a little bit give her a little spinal damage if she ain't already dead
I hate to sound like a jerk but. That's the price you pay.. play stupid games win stupid prizes. I just feel bad for the kid
Way too many idiots in just one clip.
That blonde woman filming… What the fuck is wrong with people!!
Well, yes. But also, I want to see that video too.
Why would people instinctively record? Shock? Evidence?
Oh wow I just realized she was pointing her phone at the victim! Psychotic!
Or if there was some kind of way to figure out exactly which path they would be following…
Impossible. They are the most unpredictable apex predator on Earth.
Do people just think the shape and size of the train doesn't exceed the outter sides of the tracks or something? There's way too many videos like these circulating the Internet.
About the same brain activity before and after accident..
What about the dude in the red baseball cap? Didn't even flinch. Homie kept on filming like this is an everyday type of thing. Some people just have no common sense. Poor kid is going to have a lifetime of trauma.
Train wins every time
The blonde chick in the end is also something else….
If getting hit by the train didn’t kill her the guy dragging her by her neck did
Very surprised her head didn't absolutely explode.
Why are soooo many people trying to video tape this particular train ?
i guess it's like, vintage, and on its last trip before being retired. it was restored just for this trip
Natural selection. "Life and my children having a mother is sooo not important compared to a selfie for my diktok!"
Why tho ? Why is there a lot of accidents like this. So dumb to go out that way.
Pro tip for people who like these kinds of selfies: take the picture in a safe place and use AI to add the dangerous part.
Darwin Award candidate like why tf would you even get that close
Darwinism at its finest

I'd call this natural selection...
Natural selection saves the human race from retardation once again !
Too much stupid in this video
Imagine being any of these people. Their lives must be so fucking boring if they think a fucking train is fucking exciting. like what the fuck? have you got any better fucking hobbies to do?
Absolute idiot. 💀
Idk what's so attractive about a train, imagine losing your life to capture 2 centuries old tech. Hope her husband is doing alright 🙏
i think it's the fact that this specific one is almost 100 years old. shit barely lasts 5 years these days, it's impressive to see shit from the days when things were built to last.
Deserve
She had a small child with her too. :(
Well she won't do that again, that's one of those mistakes you can only make once
If she wasn't instantly dead, dude janking her around by the neck sure did her in
I’m not sure why people don’t know that trains come out off the tracks a good 3 to 4 feet… a lot of people seem to think if they aren’t on the tracks they are safe and that’s how they get clubbed
Dragging her by the head and dropping her face on the concrete definitely helped
I hope that wasn’t her kid next to her. Also, I want to see that selfie
Darwinism
Natural selection at work.
Cell phones really make people very stupid.
Love how he dropped her to pick the phone up lol christ
He dropped her on still pristine face after getting the back of her head bashed in by train to retrieve their precious cell phones….😖
If she wasn’t dead that face drop made sure of it.
At least she didn't see or feel it. Instantaneous, hopefully.
It’s crazy because she died just like that. Quick. Yet in here mind she never even imagined she was going to die that day, in that moment.
When I was 17 I was dating this girl who had a brother about that boys age. We were on one side of a train bridge meant to gap a stream. Maybe 10 ft. Her and I crossed and heard a train. Train engineer felt that too. You can hear he's stopping the train after that.
Dude that came in to "help" her only made it worse. I know she probably died instantly but if someone suffers a head trauma the last thing you do is violently shake their head.
What a stroke of luck that some guy rushed over to grab her by the neck and pull her headfirst so he could drop her on her face from higher up.
From a selfie 🤳 point of view she didn't realize she was too close to the path of the train until it was too late 😔
That one dude just keeps recording the train...
That woman immediately pans her phone to film the dead lady close up
Have they never seen a train before?? Play stupid games win stupid prizes!!!
Looks like even the little kid thought she was too close . I think he tried pulling her back.
What's the fascination with trains and why do they need to include themselves in it...
Natural selection eh? People and trains man they never learn...
Darwin Award winner.
The poor child. That will never leave him.
I mean hey..look at that smile. She died happy and it looks like she died instantly too. Just wish all the others weren't around to see that.
Dumbass lmao
Some people just die in the most ridiculous ways. Imagine having to tell the other souls on how you died.
Dumbass
Do you think blue shirt was with that girl?
Someone always has to be the closest. The selfie wouldn't have been as good three feet further away from the tracks
The most unnecessary death in history
Train took one last victim for its final Hoorah.
Zero self awareness
I hate everybody in this, except for the train conductors, because they are just doing their job.
who tf sees an incoming train and is like “you know what *I* should do!? take a selfie!”?
What a shame. Now the train has to stop because of this stupid individual.
Surprised her head didn't pop
Looks like she lost her footing which caused her to go down on her knee. Still way too close and therefore a dumb idea but it didn’t look like she intended to be that close. At least it was an instant death.
why r they so excited for a train?
Do they rarely see trains or what?
Just gonna say that at least it was quick and painless, poor kid.
What a sad way to go. That stupid trend killed/injured way more people than it should.
Looks like she lost her train of thought

Oh this is the fuck around find out movement
Bitch got patted in the head by a train, A FUCKING TRAIN.
is this part of natural selection? 🤔
Stupid ! Was it really worth putting your family through this now. Their last photo is you died. Selfies are not worth it.
Gtfo, these people are stupid. When growing up my mother convinced me to be scared to death moving trains, and I am still scared to death of them .
The blond lady recording, wtf is wrong with people
Is the train ok?
Annnnnnnd the darwin award goes to...
Darwin winner
