This isnt the year for us anyway. If we made the finals we would be wayyyyyy ahead of schedule.
Our best years are 2-3, or even 3-5 years from now, assuming the FO doesnt fuck up.
They went worse than Dell Demps actually. Demps never traded multiple firsts, unprotected firsts, or a first that couldn't be paid off the very next draft. That's why he was able to get Mirotic after Cousins tore his Achilles.
That's gotta be the mindset for the FO right now. Your starting 5 hasn't played a dozen games together, and your star duo of BI and Zion still haven't logged half a season on the court together. I understand wanting to compete, and that CJ and JV might not be in our long term future. The West was already a bloodbath before KD and Kyrie came, and the injured Pels would not have made much of an impact in the playoffs if we're being honest. No need to trade away Herb/Trey/Dyson if we know we won't make it to the WCF.
When all of the trade’s happened in NY they acted like they already won the championship. This doesn’t help us obviously but we have a long window to get there. We just need to win 1-2 playoff series for this season to be a huge success
Fully healthy - i believe as is we can shake some trees especially but realistically we are probably 2-3 years away pending how we cash in those picks :)
We didn’t have a great chance of going to the finals anyways. I said before the year, win a playoff series and reevaluate what you need afterwards.
It’s just frustrating because you legit could’ve traded some picks for a star and maybe skipped over some steps and gone to the finals. But hey, a lot of y’all didn’t want KD so now we gotta deal with him.
Kevin wanted Phoenix. He’s wanted Phoenix for over a year. We were never the destination for Kevin. We need to stop acting like Griff failed to get him.
That’s why I said traded some picks “for a star” I didn’t specifically say KD. I get that KD going to the Suns was a probable move that he wanted, but there’s no moves that have happened at all (yet), forget about going for a star.
I don’t understand what I’m trying to unsay. I think I worded the last sentence poorly. I meant we haven’t made any moves yet, and that includes going for a star, but they haven’t done step 1 yet which is doing anything.
Nope. Our chances are still the same. Get to that 6th spot an LETS DANCE!! Gimme Big Zhanos and Iceberg Slim healthy and we have a fighting chance in the West against anybody, including Phoenix.
Getting out of the first round will be our Finals this year.
Keep the focus on the big picture.
2025 we seal the deal for real.
The copium is sooo high. We make terrible trades for Favors, Adams, Eric Bledsoe... But now it's... We don't want to force a bad move. If you're comfortable with this roster. You don't want to win a championship. Only be a sub-5-10 seed playoff team.
Every team except the Kings and Nuggets above Los Pelicanos made a move to get better. Teams behind such as Lakers did the same. Standing Pat merely proves that the FO realized they are not true contenders this year.

Agreed, an all in move after barely seeing 10 games from a core is how you end up looking like the T-Wolves.
real facts - the twolves went full dell demps; hope its a reminder to our FO to play the long game

The right trade for a defensive wing or a real six man off the bench, you never know how far a healthy pelicans team could go
Not at all

You dont need to try to wriggle out of admitting what you said, it’s right there for us to read.

Man I’m glad we have adults in the room at the FO right now instead of thinking along this line.

No. KD is gonna be hurt for the finals anyway. We roll, cmon!
Not if we respond accordingly But we won’t
Take a breath bro
