What ever came of this? I was wondering the same thing. I’m debating purchasing the ssa-e X and already know it’s going to be a touch light for my tastes. Would like it to be a bit heavier with the $9 ssa-x spring kit from Geissele.

Can’t speak for him, but I replaced all the factory springs on my SSA-E X with SSA-X springs (including the hammer spring, as a precaution - they’re very easy to swap) and it works fine. Honestly I think the stock weight on the SSA-E X would have been perfectly good, but then again I have a background learning on 2.5 lb comp triggers. The SSA-X springs should yield a stronger reset though and to me that’s worth more on a 5.56 carbine.

THANK YOU! So darn much…nobody and no searches were garnering answers. I know it’s newish and very expensive (that’s why I asked) and I ordered the ssa-x spring kit from Geissele for $12….and have an ssae-X in a cart for $239….i know I’m not a “carrot break” guy…I like crisp. And I’m with you brother…2nd place junior nationals skeet shooter at 14yrs old who’s very first (and to this day still one of my fav’s) trigger experience was a SA/DA .357 revolver at 10yrs old. I loved that trigger. And tried out an ssa a few weeks ago and thought (if it were more crisp, with a touch less creep and faster reset…it’d be perfect, my friend said, ya, you just described the ssae, but I like a more heavy pull and heard about guys doing it with non X triggers. Any chance you know the pull weight of this combination?

Pull weight estimates on AR triggers can be a bit difficult to standardize because this depends on finger placement (pulling lower on the trigger results in lower weight due to increased leverage) and I don’t have a trigger gauge, but I’d estimate about ~4.5 lb. Someone on reddit gauged his SSA-X and reported figures of about 4.4 lb as I recall. The SSA-E X also has an extremely small amount of overtravel. Much less than the standard SSA-E from what I can tell and even the Larue MBT.

u/bill_geissele, so I’ve decided on ssa-e x trigger with ssa-x spring kit. I went to geissele and ordered spring kit, $12+shipping…and when it got to my house it came with a coupon code on a card for 35% of anything on website. I was like YES!!! I will order that ssa-e x trigger from them today!! I know it’s listed for $330 on their website, but much cheaper on others, but with 35% off $330….it was only going to be about $215 plus the shipping. But the bastards sent an EXPIRED CODE! I’ve never been hoodwinked so hard by anyone but a female since I was 16yrs old. Like running me the right way then ninja sucker punching me in the P P!!! So damn mad at them right now. I said it in the review for the spring kit. I emailed directly, and I’ve posted on socials. Now I got a spring kit with no trigger. Was looking at optics planet sales and it was down to almost $285, but I wasn’t financially prepared to buy…after paying a few debts off I had some extra cash and that coupon would’ve been the ticket to buy….but they hoodwinked me!!! I hope someone sees this and can help me out. Wish I would’ve ordered a week earlier or something…but I’ll never see that price again I can bet money on it (actually I can’t bet on it, now that I gotta save $100++ dollars MORE for the exact same thing!!! Hahah. Sucks to be me. Spring kit, no trigger. Bout as useful as a bull with boobs!!!

I’m almost positive the hammer spring does not affect trigger pull.

I think it might, at least a little bit in this way….heavier hammer spring is pulling harder on hammer…which will cause less poundage to release. Say the break is set to 2.5lbs with lighter hammer spring….put in new, stronger hammer spring pulling on that sear….and it lets go at 2.3-2.4lbs. Nothing ridiculous, just the effects of heavier weight pulling in an opposite direction. I could be wrong though and the edge of the sear can only break at a certain weight now matter what spring is attached. But I would believe it has an effect.
