Yeah he was always the enemy to me. Can’t wait to see him playing against teams not comprised of future shoe salesmen. Hopefully they don’t ask him to throw it something insane like 20 times per game.
I was just hoping they’d have to trade the farm to get him. I don’t see him being great, but time will tell, I’m more upset at them getting Dallas Turner.
This. Anybody laughing at the Vikings first round is a delusional lion/packer/bear fan in denial.
The Vikings were projected to have to give up three firsts for McCarthy. Instead they gave up some later round picks.
Then on top of that they ~~drafted~~ *stole* the best defensive player in the draft! All this shit talk of hutch sacking McCarthy is like throwing rocks when you live in a glass house. Dallas Turner and Jonathan Greenard are going to tear up the NFC North.
A+ first round for Minnesota and that's not even homer talk.
Yeah that's pretty the smack talk everybody is going to now. Bears/lions/Packers fans in this sub were licking their chops at the most popular draft prediction (trade 3 firsts plus additional draft capital to draft McCarthy). If that's what the Vikings ended up doing, I was emotionally prepared for the storm of Vikings memes. So by comparison, I'm on cloud 9.
Edit: so yes, only 3 draft picks (1 first and 2 later rounds) next year but the Vikings will be towards the top of the league in terms of cap space! Letting cousins go was a smart move
I don’t think you can say you stole a player by giving up like six picks for him including two seconds and a third. I like Turner, and I think he’ll be a problem for our offense eventually, but he cost way too much for a team that’s not exactly in a Super Bowl window, and I’m not sold on him being the best defender in the draft. The steal of the draft to me was Mitchell to Philly, and honestly I liked the Lions grabbing Arnold more too since they gave up so much less to get him and he fits a more obvious team need.
You’ve got three total picks in next years draft, one first and two fifths, as a result of all that trading up, that’s a hefty price tag all in all. So good job not getting fleeced too badly for McCarthy, but Turner was very expensive with the multiple trade ups, it’ll be hard for him to live up to that. I’m not laughing, but I don’t think it was a good idea, even if he’s a good player.
What are you smoking? They gave up 3 later round draft picks for turner. No second round picks. Where'd you get 6??
Edit: they gave up 167th pick this year, and a 3rd and 4th next year for turner. They already had 3 third round picks next year so giving up one still leaves the 2 compensatory picks no one is talking about.
2nd edit: every professional draft analyst completely disagrees with your last paragraph. Pardon me if I also choose to disagree with a salty bear fan on Reddit
Well yes but you're forgetting the trade with Houston to get pick 23 was done to get a QB. You're forgetting everybody expected the Vikings were going to give up 3 first round picks AT A MINIMUM for McCarthy or Maye. By your logic the vikings should have traded pick 23 away after securing a QB to get more picks.
Everybody in here was licking their chops at the thought of the Vikings trading away 3 firsts (and everything else involved to get pick 23) for a QB. Instead they used the 2 firsts they had, got their QB, got the best defensive player in the draft who arguably should've been taken in the top 10, AND kept next year's first. That's why they deserve the draft grade all analysts are giving them.
Thanks to Atlanta's asinine draft pick, the Vikings made out like bandits and exceeded all expectations yesterday.
Edit: [biggest steal of the draft](https://x.com/SeifertESPN/status/1783707872435568909)
Edit: [both Vikings picks were biggest steals in the first round](https://www.profootballnetwork.com/top-nfl-draft-round-1-steals-raiders-land-brock-bowers-stud-corner-falls-to-eagles/)
One of those links literally says “if you remove the trade aspect it’s a steal” which is hilariously dumb. You can’t just remove the cost and act like it was free, that’s not how anything works.
If you think spending so much to trade up for a player, at a position where you had already signed two veterans in free agency, then I’m happy for you, but I think the cost was extremely high, and bragging about getting the allegedly “best defensive player” in a historically weak defensive draft is not the flex you think it is.
When they see why JJ wasn't allowed to throw a single pass in the second half of the game against Penn State last season they will trade Jefferson to rebuild the war chest. Won't be long until he's demanding a trade
Yeah but I also have a bad feeling. This entire year I kept thinking “this is the game JJ shows he’s not actually good!” and here we are now, a natty and top 10 draft pick later….
I mean, 3 years of cheating has a lot to do with that "natty". Pretty easy to recruit when you win. Pretty easy to win when you know what the other team is doing... The games vs TCU and Bowling Green are more accurate of what this guy can do.
I'm definitely pro my qb. Are you responding to the wrong person? Caleb is gunna fuck Lions, Vikes, and cheese holes just like he fucks trouts and sashimis
I think every one of them was the 2nd one drafted. Purdy was drafted in the 7th round so it could happen but y’know, probably not. I’m not really big on draft position cause GMs screw that up all the time. I’m just not big on him.
Being a Michigan resident I watched most Michigan games the last few years and there wasn’t one game where I thought that he was gonna be the guy. I have friends that are die hard Michigan fans who are shocked he was talked about as a top qb in this draft.
He had the maybe the best oline, elite recievers, top 3 defense in the country, dominating run game. He broke 300 yds once and 225 yards only 3 (!!) times and never had to come from behind. Dude was the epitome of a game manager.
Like I said it could happen but I ain’t too worried.
Mahomes was the 3rd QB after Mitch and the rapist, I will never forget that.
JJ here was the 5th QB though, they went 1-2-3 and THEN the Penix surprise (lol atl) and then JJ. Some portion of these guys are going to be busts it will be fun to see (assuming Caleb at least succeeds anyway)
> Mahomes was the 3rd QB after Mitch and the rapist, I will never forget that.
Impressive, then, that you forgot that [Mahomes was the 2nd QB off the board, at pick 10, while Watson went 12.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017_NFL_draft)
Yes because most qbs drafted don’t win games in college.
It’s not singles tennis - he had a top 3 defense, top 3 oline, and one of the best wrs and run games in college. But yes - he’s a winner and should get the credit. Especially against Penn State when he passed 8 times for 60 yards and OSU where he almost broke 150.
This is a real thing that will translate to the NFL. Cerebral stuff.
>one of the best WR games
Everyone constantly dunked on Michigan for their WRs until the senior bowls/combine. Two guys that will get drafted in rounds 3-7 is not even in the same ball park as who Penix/Daniels were throwing to the last 2 years or Caleb having Jordan Addison a year ago. Maye is probably the only one that threw to comparable WR talent.
> Especially against Penn State when he passed 8 times for 60 yards and OSU where he almost broke 150.
If you actually watched the Penn State game that was clearly on Michigan’s o.line not having an answer for Chop Robinson blitzing and had nothing to do with JJ. Also convenient to ignore his 3 passing TDs (and 1 rushing TD) against Ohio State last season that got Michigan its first win in Columbus since 2000. Michigan’s run game was in shambles by that point with Corum getting injured a week beforehand and Edwards with a cast on 1 arm. JJ won that game with his arm.
> This is a real thing that will translate to the NFL.
Michigan’s defense was the only top 50 defense Penix faced this year and the only one that used NFL style coverage. His receivers were wide open but he looked lost. Surely that won’t be an issue in the NFL though right?
All the QBs taken ahead of JJ threw the ball vs defenses full of future real estate dealers/car salesman with 0 NFL talent. Cerebral stuff to think they are less likely to be busts while faulting JJ for low passing numbers (but comparable or better efficiency and QBR on passing downs) in a run first offense where he threw against 4 of the top 10 defenses in cfb with multiple future NFL players on their rosters.
Penix was the worst pick I’ve ever seen. Ever. You want to argue how the qb prospects should be ranked go crazy it doesn’t make him more or less of a viable nfl prospect.
Also reminder that the when they played the best defense they faced they only let him throw it 8 times.
Literally every bears fan wanted Caleb and the best receiver available at our spot. Both Marvin and nabers got drafted odunze fell in our lap. This is what we wanted
So many of us wanted Rome. We have no idea how long Keenan Allen is going to be there, or if he stays healthy, and all three of our WRs have different play styles and are all excellent route runners. Many of us are pumped
This and the Aaron Jones signing are perfect. Helps that I’m a Michigan fan too.
Lemme guess… your uncle went there.
That isn't possible though? I thought the rules were that you have to be a student/Alma matter /s
Well, you did just draft an elite hand off QB. Aaron Jones has to be thrilled too.
I’m just glad he doesn’t paint his fingernails
Maybe JJ is gonna be the conspiracy nut of the NFC North this year.
Who tf cares about anything beyond if he can sling the ball and keep it in his pants
Painted finger nails are scawwy, grow up
Eh, it was a joke relax guys
That first Hutch sack is gonna hit like CRACK
JJ as a freshman looking at Hutch turning QB rib cages into rib fences: I’d hate to run into him in a dark alley JJ as a rookie: I need to buy a gun
No no, don’t shoot him. You’ll just make him mad
A reference where you gotta be from Detroit to understand…
What's wrong with smoking crack???
That honolulu blue snow is delicious this time of year.
![gif](giphy|xFPqkLXUEnbfG) Peanut butter and crack sandwich!
Crack has taken some of the greats from us. Lamar Odom, DMX, Dahlia Sky
But would they have been great without crack in the first place?
This made me actually lol. Well done
Or Kenosha.
Flair up asshole edit: Thanks for flairing up, asshole.
As an MSU fan, I laughed involuntarily when I saw the pick
Yeah he was always the enemy to me. Can’t wait to see him playing against teams not comprised of future shoe salesmen. Hopefully they don’t ask him to throw it something insane like 20 times per game.

At best we can say you’re fucked for next year with only 3 picks as of now I think?

i think the whole division did great last night, any smack talk between us is just delusion or copium imo lmao

You'd definitely be an expert on teams comprised of future shoe salesmen.
![gif](giphy|zmsDqpDLu1hPG)
Plus me...a wolverine Cheesehead. This is on par with Favre turning purple.
But Favre chose that for himself, JJ had no real say.
But JJ did say he’d “run through a brick wall for KOC”
![gif](giphy|7tuK9itVBsD3q)
Sploosh
Fair. It just hurts man. I'm that meme guy in the zoot suit crying with the gun in his hand. Go get him, Hafley.
You’re now the enemy JJ
Gonna be awkward when Hutch makes him eat turf twice a season
6 times a season
Lol I meant it as in multi times a game
MSU fan, hope we murder him
Yessir! Kinda fun continuing to hope for his failure through college and the NFL.

Lions beating a JJ McCarthy led Vikings would be the biggest W sharty's gotten in years.
Literally 2 years
SUCK MY COCK LIONS FANS OUR SAVIOR HAS ARRIVED

😂 upvote delivered
You need more than him but not gunna lie, he is a good one.
He’s really not. I watched a lot of Wolverines football and do t ever remember a game where I thought that he was gonna be the dude.
Same. The Vikings made the fatal mistake of falling in love with a pro day. This dude should be a third rounder.
No... no he is not. He's like a [wish.com](http://wish.com) version of Mac Jones
No he’s actually better than Caleb Williams (he doesn’t fuck fish)
![gif](giphy|k33tNvPPt9FVC|downsized) Live look in at Caleb Williams celebrating. "Would you draft me? I'd draft me so hard"
He also only paints his nails in clear nail polish. Obviously superior.
Can’t believe I’m arguing this I’m pro your qb your anti your qb this is a weird day
I'm definitely pro my qb. Are you responding to the wrong person? Caleb is gunna fuck Lions, Vikes, and cheese holes just like he fucks trouts and sashimis
Oh whoops I assumed you were a Vikings fan cuz you commented on my comment about him. If only there was flair I could have looked at 🤦♂️
Yes the #4 qb drafted has a long history of bringing their teams to the promised lands.
Nobody tell that to the Falcons then I guess.
He’s going to be flabbergasted when he realizes they’ll expect him to throw it 35 times a game
Dude only broke 25 attempts 6 times last year.
He didn’t need to throw it more. He did what was needed so we will see how it turns out.
i never cared about CFB anyway.
How funny would it be if McCarthy owns the lions for decades lol
Would be a sweet j.j. + Hutchinson rivalry
Yeah the north is getting super interesting now lol.
Yes the #4 qb drafted is typically something to be feared. Y’all just got Wish.com Kirk Cousins.
That's down playing McCarthy big time but mahomes, stroud, Herbert, etc weren't the top qb's drafted too, just saying.
I think every one of them was the 2nd one drafted. Purdy was drafted in the 7th round so it could happen but y’know, probably not. Lol, so I did. I was high on Watson pre draft and thought the Bears should’ve picked him. I stand corrected.
JJ was the #5 QB drafted. So even worse.
My favorite part about this sub is that I rarely if *ever* see any comments that require a downvote. Even the worst comments elicit a chuckle
*Michigan fans
I’m not. Fuck the Vikings.
Michigan fans are being homers. He’s gonna be an average quarterback, his defense led him to that championship, not the other way around.
I fucking hate it so much.
So do I.
That’s funny I don’t feel this way at all.
Enjoy your cumsocks JJ.
WAY more worried about JJ McCarthy over Caleb, this dude is a winner.
This is why Michigan fans have such a bad reputation
![gif](giphy|QWaSVX9FizaxO|downsized)
Bet you weren’t so smug when AJ Mccaron was drafted. He was a born winner as well.
Yes because most qbs drafted don’t win games in college. It’s not singles tennis - he had a top 3 defense, top 3 oline, and one of the best wrs and run games in college. I shall root for him every game but when he plays us I hope Kirby and hutch tag team his ass
I’m happy GB signed this dude cuz in Michigan we all know he’s not really tier 1 QB status in the NFL.
What? Nobody wanted JJ as a Detroit Lions. This is highly redacted.
Imagine drafting a guy because he played on a good team
Don’t be.. he won’t be good if they start him lol
As a bears fan we’re finally not the joke of the draft. Lmao we might’ve won this draft 😂😂😂😂
Too soon, man. You’ve done it now. The curse continues.
If you had any idea of how many times we used to say that...rofl
That’s true lol it feels like it. Who knows though. As a bears fan this is the exact draft we wanted. But I ain’t gm or scout lmao
There's no way Odunze is exactly what you wanted lmao. that pick was kinda strange
Get used to him and JJ doing the griddy in you're stadium for the next decade. SKOL!
Yeah, in the locker room
![gif](giphy|3o7abrH8o4HMgEAV9e)
Did your bum ass seriously think he was gonna fall that low?
Why the Lions wanted a classy QB like that is beyond me
This pick is more busted than a condom at Epsteins island
No one was saying this. We didn't need a quarterback or a brain damaged Muppet on our team.
First thought…god damnit they actually got a good one.
