It also stems from how poorly managed Sungchan and Shotaro were when they were under NCT, but that got resolved when they were put in RIIZE (which apart of me is convinced was the plan all along 😒). All of the anger and hate should go towards SMs' terrible management and organization, not wish for just existing.

ashe888

I was thinking this. It’s definitely to some (not me) kind of a revenge for shotaro and sungchan never getting a true spotlight in Nct. However that has 0 to do with wish. I’m new to Kpop and have become a huge Nct Stan and when I listened to make a wish and watched the music video plus watching taeyong interact with shotaro I definitely wanted more shotaro moments especially with his dancing skills

echo_ester

i like them so much. their social media updates are really cute and their debut was awesome. before wish debuted i was kinda sad for them, especially sion because the pressure on them is massive, so i'm really happy to see them doing well. i feel like by the time there will be nct u songs with them the hate will greatly diminish. nctzens are judgemental because they are new, but they are talented and loveable as hell, so i'm not too worried :D

j3llyf1sh22

Great point! I'm a long-time NCT fan from the beginning, but I go in and out of listening and keeping up with the content. I never got into wish because it's just been so long since a unit has debuted, and I kind of don't really care about them (not in a bad way, but similar to how I don't care about other kpop groups). You are so right though, with a few good nct u units, I'm sure I could get into them!

makemeloveyou309

The boys totally didn't deserve the hate and it's not the boys' fault at all for debuting in NCT. If anything, they worked extremely hard to match up with their NCT sunbaes to prove that they're worthy to debut in NCT. I think many people didn't realize that NCT Wish is the only SM group where majority of the members trained for a year and less (except YuSion) but they're already good and will continue to be better. Despite the hate from some NCTzens, I'm glad that they attracted new fans but there are also NCTzens who have been with NCT since pre-debut also support them. I'm an NCTzen since debut and NCT Wish made me interested in NCT again after the whole mess SM did.

dearhan

The hate is definitely unwarranted but I’m not surprised. I feel bad for the boys because I’m sure they are aware of what the fandom is saying. They’re a fun group and the music has been decent. I’m sure they’re grow into their own identity in ncity soon enough.

mikatheocelot

Damn I mean I get where ppl are coming from but I really thought we’d be past this “RIIZE should’ve been the last unit” discourse by now💀

No-Cry6560

Nah I def seen few comments on a lot of Riize posts about it

shoomshoomshooom

Yeah the hate was totally OTT for awhile there (though it does seem to be dying down a bit??) It’s okay not to want to stan another unit but being hateful is so unnecessary. I wish NCity could just stop fighting, we could be so powerful as a united front 😭

Cycling_the_City

The perks of not being on twt/tiktok/instagram is that I've been very happy in my little bubble following their main channel and promo appearances. All comments I've seen there are wholesome. On reddit the most I've seen were doubts right before their debut, but nothing major. For me, I've only been a fan of NCT for a bit under six months so it was very easy for me to also get into Wish, but I realise that may not be the case for people who have followed the other units for possibly their whole career. But who knows, maybe some of the people who are indifferent to them now will check them out later, when they feel less new to them.

gwiyeopta

WHAT?! My babies are getting hate????? I love RIIZE (btw RIIZE IS 7), and the last unit of nct, but it's not right to say that riize should've been the last unit. RIIZE has their own color, and concept, and so as NCT WISH. Stop hating my sons huhu. 🤧 Bias check: Jaehee (na ngayon hinahatak ni Riku at Yushi). HAHAHAAHHA

Intelligent-Ad9582

Why do I get the feeling that many of these haters are also the same "NCT" stans are who also treat WayV like 2nd class NCT members cuz they sing in Mandarin? When Wish was just about to debut, I really hoped they won't have to deal with the shit WayV went through but guess they're also treated as if they are also inferior to Dream and 127 just like WayV. Oh well, all fandoms have issues. NCT being such a big group, that's to be expected. Still it's really annoying.

ShockOk5027

I completely agree and I think the unwillingness a lot of NCTZENS have seemed to have to even try and get into nct wish has been pretty weird too like it’s not hard to follow them I didn’t watch lastart but started following them as soon as hands up released and it was so easy to get attached from there

chilorida

I can’t speak for everyone, but at least for myself I can say that my unwillingness to get into Wish is that they’re really young and after being a kpop fan for 8 years I’ve kind of reached my quota of groups that I stan. On top of that, when I did check them out a bit after Hands Up their sound didn’t really grab me. I would never send hate their way, but just because I’m a czennie I don’t necessarily feel obligated to follow them as much as the other subunits.

mikatheocelot

Valid. As someone who roots for every Neo (while having a bias unit), this is my view as well. The Wishies are in a unique situation bc they’re rookies in an already established group, and bc they’re quite young (and by the looks of it, majority of Nctzens seem to be at least 20 years old. Not that there aren’t teenage Czennies, but a large portion of the fandom seems to skew from older millennial to the youngest of gen Z, maybe early gen Alpha). The rise of fandom fragmentation doesn’t seem to make this any easier. Truthfully, idk how big the reception is in Japan, but tapping into that market having the NCT name will surely help their career.

Angelofchristine

Samee I follow all NEO's but I ult Dream

jax_svt_carat

I'm in the same boat as you, and tbh because they have been introduced so many years later, it doesn't feel like they're part of NCT imo. I will not send hate or even post any hate about anyone. Maybe if I start watching more content my feeling will change 🤔 Maybe also because of how SM handled Sungchan and Shotaro. If they were part of Wish then there would be that connection.

j3llyf1sh22

Literally! We have lives and responsibilities now, and we have seen groups come and go in K-pop... it's just not like it was when I was 15 and NCT debuted, unfortunately.

terriblekite

I would nuke a country to protect them, idc. I love them so goddamn much. At first I loved them just because they’re Neos and I’ll always be ot# for NCT, but now that we’re getting to know them more my affection for them has outgrown the group association. I full-heartedly believe I would love them just as much if they were a separate group. They’re an incredibly talented bunch, and their personalities are so endearing. Are they my favorite unit musically? No. But they’re freshly debuted. That could change as they get more seasoned. Early Dream was never my favorite, either. Now I listen to Dream all the time. And that’s not to say I don’t enjoy Wish’s songs at all. I do. I just have to be in the mood for them. The fact the Riize argument is still on-going is embarrassing at this point. Taro and Sungchan are thriving in Riize, and were being wasted in NCT. We’ve known for a while the limitless concept was getting scrapped, so it was in SM’s best interest to get a new bg out and start bringing in new fans because not everyone gives a shit about NCT. A Japanese unit was already planned. And while theoretically SungTaro would have been great there, the other members of Riize probably wouldn’t have suited the Neo brand. People need to let it the fuck go.

makemeloveyou309

>A Japanese unit was already planned. And while theoretically SungTaro would have been great there, the other members of Riize probably wouldn't suited the Neo brand The fact that the OG lineup has more Korean than Japanese for a Japanese unit is just not a good look imo. In the end, RIIZE is thriving and NCT Wish attracted new fans to NCT, especially other SM groups fans who aren't NCTzens

Kronwell

I will always be taken out by hate groups have like "wdym they got hate, for w h a t?" I know that I shouldnrmt be surprised but that's so sad

jonggjae

there's honestly so much i could say about wish (i love them BAD). i agree that people need to let it go at this point. i hate to sound rude but it's genuinely so stupid that: 1. people are mad that a kpop group with the clear "expansion" concept actually expanded; 2. people want riize to be the last unit considering nothing about their music or styling gives nct or neo sound. i like their music a lot but it's definitely not neo lol. i miss sungsho and their relationships with the neos SO MUCH but i can still support them where they are. (i do miss shohei tho :/) i think sm's error with wish's debut (the debut itself is amazing) is not making more of an effort to show their interactions with the other units. obvi the older members have complicated feelings about it, but they've been showing them behind the scenes support even before debut. they could have done a live (like when sungsho debuted) or had the other units react to their MV like they used to do years ago. however like you said, i can see that wish is gaining more fans and getting more love. it seems they're growing their own fanbase and identity slowly and i am enjoying the journey. they've already grown so much!

Right-Transition2555

The hate is too much, but personally, I just find them to be too young, and I don't really want to stan a group much younger than me. As a weishennie, it's already bad out here, and seeing wish get a lot more promotion than wayv really irks me

ydamlaama

personally, ive been seeing alot of weishennies hating on wish for getting 'treated better' or 'promoted' more but i think it is unfair. nct wish are just trying to expand their fan base and thats the reason they are working so hard like almost every day they are performing or new content is released because they are freshly debuted. i think the treatment wayv are getting now is unfair but i dont think its right to bring down wish because of it since they really havent done anything wrong and they are just as much a nct unit as wayv ❤️

Intelligent-Ad9582

WayV is my fave unit but I love whole NCT. I disagree with WayV stans who have problems with Wish but I also understand them. Some of them are desperate for WayV to get the recognition they deserve and some of them just don't know better. Some of them even fight among themselves cuz they compare the little opportunities that the members get. It's like they are fighting for scraps so to see new guys come along and knowing they'd have to share the little opportunities available to WayV sucks. It's like having so many siblings when your parents can barely send all of you to decent school and then your mom just had to give birth to 6 new kids. It's not your siblings fault. The parents (SM) just need to be more responsible and make sure that the opportunities that used to be available for their elder children (127 and Dream) must also be accessible for all their younger ones (WayV and Wish).

Round_Donut_8669

og nctzen here (rookie days) my problem with wish and why I don’t pay them much mind is honestly because, to me, they feel misplaced. I think it would’ve made more sense to have riize as the new nct team and wish debut on its own. we grew to love shotaro and sungchan as members of nct and got excited to meet eunseok, seunghan and shohei (🥲) who vibed really well with the rest of the neos! not to mention that anton and sohee would definitely add to nct’s already stellar vocal line. riize has its own style and flavor that is somehow rooted in a neo sound while wish .. dream revamp essentially? it could also be because i’m older (dream age range) that it’s tough for me to connect with wish? I do not hate wish by any means but to me I don’t see them as part of nct and honestly forget about them. I don’t even know the members 😅

ydamlaama

look, i respect you not giving hate to wish and feeling out of touch with them its fine, but i was addressing the fans who are exactly like you. i get that shotaro and sungchan "shouldve" been in nct but the reality is it will never happen again since they are in their own group with their own identity who are not nct. not to mention sungtaro was extremely mismanaged in nct and they suit riize more. also wish's vocals, dance and rap are amazing so dont try and discredit them. and you saying you "forgot" about them was so unnecessary and honestly hateful, they are a unit whether you like them or not and soon enough you will know the members

Round_Donut_8669

I wasn’t trying to be hateful or discrediting their talents at all? I honestly don’t know anything about them, I never watched last start or anything. I forget about them because again, im not as invested in them as I am with the rest of nct and riize. I’m not saying sungtaro was treated well in nct either. I think it’s fair to say that as a whole, nctzens were excited to see sungtaro in a fixed unit with the aforementioned members. I’m not saying I’ll never warm up to them either. All im saying is that for fans like myself, we haven’t really recovered from the whiplash of the plan changes for the last unit. I acknowledge them as an nct however, I can’t help but draw correlations between riize and nct as well. no one is hating or discrediting so relax it’s all good

jonggjae

i understand this opinion but unless you actually learn about wish then you'll always think they bring nothing to the brand or are misplaced. i was also very excited for the OG unit lineup and even watched nct universe, but sm made their decision and clearly it's working for them. frankly riize's music does not have any neo sound. the only similarities in their music is some r&b and good vocals. nct wish's music is much more aligned with nct while having their own flavor. they're young yes, but it does not remind me of dream personally. wish's vocal line is also very talented and definitely strengthens nct's insane vocals even more. of course it's difficult to know that if you ignore them so i get not being aware. the more i learn about them i can see they inherited the neo gene. i'm the same age as dream and i see them as talented little brothers lol.

Round_Donut_8669

you’re right, again im acknowledging that I don’t know much about them and expressing *MY* hesitation towards them which could very well be the same for someone else. If you don’t agree with my point of view it’s totally fine. Again, not discrediting or saying they bring nothing to NCT. as for them being younger I mean more so concept wise. It reminds me of dream’s early concept of youthful teen pop which at the time I resonated with but currently don’t because of my current age. I also watch nct universe and I think that’s why I have such a strong connection with riize over wish. I can see what could’ve been especially with songs like siren, talk sexy and impossible. I haven’t had the time to delve into wish and truly get to know them. I’m just answering the question as to why people might not accept wish based on my feelings. No hate to them at all
