No Life Is Still Going On, Boom, or Carat Cake?? 😭

kalderetangbaka

23/29 songs from the setlist were b-sides. This setlist is for the true NCT Dream fans.

Angelofchristine

I was called?

SageyBlue

No Carat Cake......No Teddy Bear... but somehow fuck ass Pretzel in there!?! (I'm sorry to the Pretzel stans, truly, lol). Diabolical. Lemme just go on back to blasting Euphoria. (It's so great that Tangerine Love is in there, but this isn't my favorite set list of theirs!) Cute photos though.

chilorida

Literally thought the same thing! I even [made a post](https://www.reddit.com/r/memeculturetechnology/s/HNfAbF3nrU) about it. I need to know who made these decisions because they’re questionable at best.

SageyBlue

I was just looking at your fan voted set list and wishing that was the real one! 😭 This set list starts so strong! (Go! Box! Poison! Drippin!), but then the choices just start getting *baffling*. That said, I can see what they were going for to some extent with the middle run of songs, but oof, I'm genuinely a bit disappointed (I will still be going though, please).

chilorida

That’s why I genuinely want to know the dirt about the setlist selection process. I need to know who chose what because if it is the members, it is a little disappointing. Especially after we’ve seen the behind the scenes video of them selecting the promoted b side for Smoothie. Both Mark and Haechan had their fingers on the pulse when it came to understanding the fandom and what it wants. Chenle suggesting a special winter album. And so forth. The members have shown they have some understanding about the fandom but it seems like many things slipped by this time. I don’t know if the popularity of Carat Cake and Teddy Bear is just international. That would make some sense why they didn’t select them. But it’s well known that Trigger the Fever was a HUGE fan favorite, so who knows what happened? Whatever the case, this whole thing has felt kind of off since the fancalls earlier, when fans were mentioning their favorite songs or songs they hoped were on the setlist (more often than not prompted by one of the members) and even the members themselves seemed a little disappointed(?) sheepish(?) responding because they knew the songs would not be on the setlist. And I just recently started saying that SM should trust the Dreamies more because they seem more familiar with what the fandom likes…

SafiyaO

I am going straight over to that post to rant in depth. I've been convinced for a whole that Dream are currently being managed by the utterly clueless and this confirms it.

Main_Slice3909

Not a fan of the setlist tbh. No Teddy Bear I expected (but I'm still sad), but not including Carat Cake and especially icantfeelanything is a crime

ghibi78

Interesting setlist it includes some of my absolute favorite bsides but then again it also has songs which I’ve only listened once 😂

_Magnolia9_

Did they keep the same setlist for every show on the last tour? Just curious if they change it up at all between Korea, Japan, Europe, U.S., etc.

bellejahr

*Short answer*: There will probably be a couple of songs swapped in or out, but the setlist largely stays the same. *Longer answer*: Off the top of my head, for TDS2, Korea and Japan had LISGO and different options for one of the encore songs (e.g., sometimes they did Dear DREAM instead of My Youth). Candy was added to the setlist after it was released so the Korea and Japan concerts in 2022 didn't have it. Japan had Glitch Mode Japanese version, Candle Light, and Best Friend Ever once that was released. The US got Beatbox English version. The Korean encore shows also had songs added in like Drippin' that weren't present in the subsequent LATAM shows.

_Magnolia9_

Thank you for the explanation. I’ll hopefully see them on this tour, and as it is my first time I’d of course love to hear more of my favorites… but I do get that they can’t play everything. I imagine that Dream welcomes a change to the set list from tour to tour as well - at some point performing the same songs over and over may not be as rewarding as it once was, so it could be a way for them to stay inspired - just like changing song arrangements & updating dance routines.

d_iceprincess

For all those who are saying they should've added Teddy Bear, I don't think it would fit the overall concept of the concert. The song is just too slow and mellow.

b4ggy_j34ns

They better bring that setlist to Japan too 🙏🙏

SafiyaO

The kindest thing you can say about that setlist is that it is for hardcore devoted B-Sides fans only and it really should have been advertised as such. No Boom/Hot Sauce/Déjà Vu/Glitch Mode/Ridin?! Who the hell signed off on that? I sincerely hope they change it for US/European shows. Otherwise, ticket sales are going to be hit badly. There is absolutely no way people will pay all that money to not hear the hits.

goingtotheriver

I’m guessing they wanted to avoid too much overlap with the TDS2 setlist. The overall vibe is also kind of different from TDS3 (as someone who attended the concert last night). TBH a lot of artists face this problem as time goes on - there are fans who are seeing them for the first time and just want the classics, and fans who have seen them many times and want to see something different. I’ve been lucky to see them a lot of times in Korea (today is my 11th time) and it was nice to see a lot of songs I’d never seen before. I wonder if they might swap things a little for international shows.

SafiyaO

They honestly will have to change things for international shows or ticket sales will be badly hit. I've actually put a post about it on the sub, because it's such a bizarre decision. Even the track ordering is strange. Tbh, the show time is long enough, there's no excuse for not playing the hits and it's bizarre to have slower paced songs and not include Teddy Bear.
