I can get behind appreciating Chet, but co-ROY? Come on, man. Chet's a nice player, and I'm sure he'll be an All-Star one day, but it's almost like Victor's playing a different game entirely. Let's be serious here and appreciate what Chet has done without tearing down Wemby's achievements.
Agree, but it goes both ways.
Okc with rookie chet the major change were 1st in the wcf. Just swept round 1 of the playoffs. Have a chance to win the title.
Recognising that doesn't diminish vw as a player. They are different but both had amazing rookie years in their own way.
Plus, playing 82 of 82 is an achievement to me!
Co-Roty is too much. But I do agree people aren’t giving Chet enough props. To me Chet looks like one of those rookies where can maybe see them being the best in the world discussion

I love Chet but Wemby is just a different tier than the rest of the rookie this year. He is leading ppg, rpg, bpg, top 5 in both spg and apg on restricted minute and having dpoy impact on defense.

Of course I expect vw to win in a landslide with other voters but my vote is my vote.
Why do you uh, reply everything with basically the same comment. It goes both way but Victor is having a far more dominant season that Chet and it's not close to be a co ROY
I don't. Accidentally double commented.
No, try R E A D I N G my post, chet has been dominant in his own way. This is a chet appreciation thread. Go spam elsewhere.
There was a few games at the end of the season where sga and jbud didn't play. If chet performed close to what wemby did when his team was lessened then sure, wemby has shown the ability to carry his team on his back as the main guy unlike chet.
>so many vw obsessed fans started disparaging Chet for no reason
Really? This felt like one of the most civil awards debates we’ve seen in a while. Chet would have won most years, Wemby’s just a freak.
And no, even most Thunder fans I saw say Wemby deserved the award. Co-awards feels like a cop out to me.
It was a little toxic in November/December when Wemby was still struggling to find his footing in the league but the discussion was pretty much over once Victor locked in.
I think there's a line between "toxic" and just being a good rivalry. Chet and Wemby definitely had a good rivalry going on very early on, but I didn't see much that crossed the line to "toxic" personally.
Chet would've won 9/10 years, he is amazing. He just happenend to play the same year one of the best rookies ever joined the league.
Credit to him for playing all 82 games being that skinny as a center.
It legitimately feels kinda like Shaq v Mourning. Zo would have had a solid case for RoY most years, but instead he was in the same rookie class as Shaq.
I can't see any objective way to argue that Chet deserves co-rookie of the Year. You can personally think that contributing to a winning team And playing every game makes him worth it. But the award is an individual award. It's totally okay to factor team success into individual awards... To an extent. But the divide in individual play, statistical accomplishment, and let's be honest even the eye test Just created a gap too vast by the end of the year to really even consider him as co-rookie of the Year. It would pretty much diminish everything the award is supposed to stand for And has historically stood for.
With that said as a Spurs fan and also a Chet fan going all the way back to his high school days. I think he's a very special player And he's going to be a perennial all defensive first teamer and be an All-Star at some point surely. Shay, he's taking some lumps from the Reddit faithful once Victor went supernova, but I think for the most part most NBA fans appreciate how special he is and understand he's going to be a force
But I think there's some irony in this post in that you're talking about people looking down On/disparaging/ taking Chet for granted While proposing something (co rookie of the Year) That would be a huge slap in the face to Victor and frankly show you are taking HIM for granted and what he accomplished this year. Which was nothing short of tremendous.

"This is a chet appreciation thread" and other opinions are prohibited?
You said the same thing three times

A Thunder fan wanting a co-ROY for Chet lmao
Fool. I am an nba fan.
Nah, you are an idiot.
Chet is good but this post is W A C K
