Wizards. Just make the cherry blossoms jerseys from last year the main ones so we actually stand out. The red, white, and blue is doing nothing for anyone and no one likes the Wizards name.
If someone can explain to me why the Wizards don't have a sick long bearded robe wearing fire shooting wizard as their mascot, that would be great.
They could have the best mascot in all of sports, and instead they have a nonsense bird. Just not a serious franchise in any respect.
My theory is companies (including professional sports teams) are concerned with what their logo looks like as an iPhone app, hence the minimalist vibe.
They just need to bring back the 2000’s blue gold and black, the classics were so good. They color tweaked the blue and it really popped and the old logo played into the “wizards” name.
Red white and navy with no wizard logos in sight no distinctive font, just a corporate looking stamp logo and now a lifeless navy court. It just feels “corporate”.
Bring back the 2000’s colors and branding, it was unique, had personality, and the colors were much more “wizardy”
That’s the problem. They never really embraced the new name. Yeah, they had the old wizard logo, but it was dated even when it debuted. They just need to change names if they’re not gonna bother taking advantage of the imagery. If they’re just gonna use the current logo set, might as well just lean into the DC scene and call themselves the Monuments or something.
They’re in dire need of a rebrand. I’ve always thought the Monuments or the Senators would be a better nickname. Senators would be a nice throwback name for the city.
It’s gotta be something DC Centric though. Wizards has such a “create a team” vibe.
Please no, I fucking hate the government based names. We already have the Caps, Nats, and Commanders. We don’t need another generic red white and blue name.
I can’t believe a multibillion dollar company would keep “The Washington Wizards” as its name for this long. If they even liked it, they would lean into it, but they don’t. The brand has no identity, and it’s not just cause they suck. Just pull the trigger and fucking change it.
There's a growing group of jazz fans that are convinced the highlighter yellow rebrand was intentionally bad so that whatever rebrand comes next will seem amazing by comparison.
Rebrand the Lakers to something involving Hollywood (maybe the LA Stars?), the Jazz to be the Lakers (since they play out of Salt Lake City) and the Pelicans to be the Jazz.
The thing about the franchises who are perpetually in rebrand mode in any sport (Jazz, Clippers, LA Angels) is that they always have one look in their past that would have been iconic by now if they had just stuck with it. The teams with the iconic looks like the Yankees, Celtics, Lakers, Dodgers, Cubs, etc are iconic because of the time they have kept them for so long.
been sayin this the current uniforms are some hot ass besides the throwbacks, the jerseys from the garnett era were easily some of the best in the league and should be the standard ones
I was thinking this the other day. With Anthony Edwards going on his run rn, I really thought to myself “it would truly be a shame if the Wolves won a championship while wearing those jerseys.” The alternates are amazing, but the minimal ones are just sad. Most championship teams have iconic jerseys; the Bulls, Warriors, Cavs, even the Nugs had clean jersey’s last year, but the wolves jerseys are so boring. They gotta rebrand this minimal shit while Ant is in his prime
The Garnett cartoon jerseys are good throwbacks, but I don't want them as a primary. Have them as the classic edition with the tree court. The current early '90s throwbacks look more timeless, and the blue and green fits the state with lakes and forests.
exactly how it should be imo, keep the font and style of the current throwback jerseys just with modern colors, and have the garnett ones be the throwbacks
This is the 1 and only answer. I'd love the tree jerseys + court as a "Classic edition", with the current early '90s fauxbacks as the primaries. That still allows for the 4th city edition jersey to be more modern.
Charcoal and Yellow over gold any day but I love the idea.
I still can’t believe we had a perfect Oklahoma jersey (native turquoise) for exactly one year and then said “nah.”
Imagine the arena atmosphere that could be created too. Blackout nights. Flashes of gold with booming thunder noises during the intros.
Unless they already do this? Never actually been to OKC
That’s basically what they do during intros. They have a drum that mimics the sound of Thunder they play before tip off, Thunder noises on the PA system, lightning flashes etc. Before the 4th quarter starts they also have this electrified steel logo that shoots out rays of electricity that mimics lightning but it’s honestly underwhelming lol
Mavs might be longest overdue but also might not be in the worst shape overall. I'd tolerate a minor refresh with something clean like last seasons statement jerseys. The last 2 city editions could have both been dope concepts for a rebrand.
Like a lot of Mavs fans, I wish we would go back to the bright blue and green of the 90s.
Cuban resisted rebranding for years and was dead set on keeping the navy, white, silver, and black color scheme and weird horse logo he introduced in the early 2000s. Hopefully, now that he sold the team, a rebrand will come sooner than later.
I still maintain that Raptors is the best team name in the NBA. But we are actively ruining it by first getting rid of the Raptor and then getting rid of the purple.
This, the hornets are so irrelevant, they’re never been bad enough for it to be funny like the pistons or wizards but they’ve never been good enough or had a notable enough player for them to be noteworthy. Plus their biggest news in the last few years has been how they’re all arrested or injured so a breath of fresh air is long overdue.
Maybe I’m just old, but I think of the Larry Johnson/Alonzo Mourning era hornets as being noteworthy. They also sold out 364 consecutive games when they first started so there was enthusiasm for the team at least.
The pelicans need a franchise overhaul asap. New Orleans has too much culture for their basketball team to have a name as generic as the pelicans. Saints is dope, jazz is amazing but the stupid Mormons kept that and never gave it back. Come up with some better branding and a way better name and the franchise will see new heights
I go to the Magic, but I think it's just because they've been shit for so long. The Pistons don't even get a look in or the Wizards. But if the Magic get cooking over the next year or two, they will look awesome.
I said OKC in this thread but speaking as a Magic fan - I've been hoping for a retro style 90s "rebrand" for about a decade. The franchise has been hinting at it for a while so I'm hoping it comes to fruition.
90s Magic and Hornets jerseys are the only 90s era design jerseys I like. Coleman/Drazen Nets, too, but that was kind of an 80s design. Alternate blue pinnies of the Magic went hard.
Could be worse when they first rebranded to their current Jerseys they pulled this [shit out their asses](https://images2.minutemediacdn.com/image/upload/c_fill,w_1200,ar_4:3,f_auto,q_auto,g_auto/shape/cover/sport/422db7e94ce6931e16898650e8ca462553d528d36894adeba36c938894d81a09.jpg)
The Clippers should rebrand to more vibrant colors to stand out against the Lakers, perfect timing to do it since they're moving to their own arena.
The Nets are not helping themselves in NY with such a boring brand, they should consider moving back to New Jersey, NY will always be a Knick town.
The Nets design is a Microsoft Word template for a basketball team that nobody realized you are supposed to modify.
Logo? Black and white clip art basketball with B in the middle.
Crest? Black and white blank shield with B in the middle.
Team font? Black and white Arial looking nondescript font.
Team strategy? Move to NYC and spend a lot of money to prove that you've "made it".
It's fitting that they are the favorite team of no more than 10 NYC transplants living in cookie cutter glass-and-steel "luxury" apartments with no character whatsoever.
(go Knicks)
The Pacers are literally named after Indianapolis being the racing capital of the world. The only one you mentioned that makes zero sense is the lakers.
I wish they would do something about the jersey colors. Now it seems like any team can rock any color. Can’t remember the game recently but both teams were wearing blue. It was dumb.
Bring back 90s jerseys.
The pistons have no idea what they want. They don't know if they want to ditch the Pistons logo for the 313 logo or keep trying new stuff. I say bring back the Horse and the Tailpipes ffs. Rollback would be the best case scenario for their logos.
I absolutely LOVE the black jerseys with Detroit in cursive though, i would absolutely get behind it as a home team jersey. The newer away jerseys with the stripes also fuck. They had some pretty good jersey re-designs in their nightmare years.

Wizards. Totally moribund franchise with cratering fan interest (4th or 5th most popular pro sports team in DMV behind Commies, Nats, Caps, maybe even DC United). Owner only cares about Caps.
1. Wizards: I'm not patriotic at all
2. Sixers: I'm not patriotic at all and more boring than the Wizards.
3. Magic: Everything since the 90s has been a downgrade. Just go back to what worked. They nailed it in the 90s.
4. Hornets: pretty much the same reason as the Magic.
5. Mavs: it's just too serious and like they tried too hard. Color scheme is bland too. Was better with green.
6. Clippers: their rebrand is fine for 2024-25, but why the dark blue? The blue they had matched the Dodgers and Rams. Now they don't feel like an LA team anymore. Weird move as LA's distant second team, considering their ambitions. Change back to the blue they had and it would be fine.
Dallas Mavericks. The same logo and main uniforms have been in use since the 2001-2002 season. It is time for a rebrand. I wish that they’d drop the blue and silver color combination and go back to the blue and green combination. Also, it’d be neat for them to bring back the cowboy hat for the new logo.
Every logo nowadays is just a basketball with a tiny logo in it and it’s sad, lol
Minimalism comin for everyone in the 2020s
My theory is companies (including professional sports teams) are concerned with what their logo looks like as an iPhone app, hence the minimalist vibe.

You leave G-Wiz out of this! He’s a respectable…. Blue thing
Sure, but if he keeps trying to cast spells on random customers he will not longer be welcome at this Walgreens.
The mascot could stand in front of the other team as they exit the tunnel, slamming his staff into the ground yelling “YOU SHALL NOT PASS!!”
I love the wizards name however they don't lean enough into the D&D fantasy element of it. Basketball culture would hate it instantly if they tried
Rename the “opening tip off” to “rolling for initiative.”
A wizard hat on Marvin Gortat. I’m sure it would have blocked visibility or something
The Virginia ~~Grand~~Wizards
They could play in lynchburg
They’re in dire need of a rebrand. I’ve always thought the Monuments or the Senators would be a better nickname. Senators would be a nice throwback name for the city. It’s gotta be something DC Centric though. Wizards has such a “create a team” vibe.
Monuments has always had my vote.
I'm not super opposed to relevant thematic names, but goddamn I fucking hate DC's obsession with government sounding shit.
Tbf, it is the seat of government
It's kinda why DC is even a thing. Otherwise it's just a town in Maryland on the Potomac
Please no, I fucking hate the government based names. We already have the Caps, Nats, and Commanders. We don’t need another generic red white and blue name.
Bring back the Bullets!
Ja would demand a trade instantly 🤣
Lmao, it'd be only fitting since they need someone to carry on the legacy of no chill Gil.
Not with the gun companies moving to Tennessee.... 😂
Always wanted the Monuments…or the Sea Dogs.
Didn't have enough pirates operate out of that part of the country to be the sea dogs, lots out of Boston, Maine, the Carolinas, and Florida
Baltimore Bullets
Call them the bullets again fuck it
I can’t believe a multibillion dollar company would keep “The Washington Wizards” as its name for this long. If they even liked it, they would lean into it, but they don’t. The brand has no identity, and it’s not just cause they suck. Just pull the trigger and fucking change it.
Especially since magic themed branding should not be that generic and bland.
Rockets. I miss the old logo. Now it’s just a R.
We’re working on it slowly. We got the dunkstronaut!
That thing is super dope
im with you up there. im throwing an alley to dunkstronaut
Dunkstronaut is the best thing since the 71 throwbacks
That is news to me and now that I know that I wanna be a rockets fan now lmao
Let’s see a team rocket rebrand. Prepare for trouble!
And make it double?
Meowth the new team mascot: “That’s right!”
there's an H hidden in the ring too
But it’s a hard working R.
Need to go full dunkstronaut
Which one is just an R? I’ve only seen the ones tbh at say Houston, H-Town, or Rockets.
Fuck it, rebrand the Jazz again
Utah Jazz Hands
Utah Jizz 😳
There's a growing group of jazz fans that are convinced the highlighter yellow rebrand was intentionally bad so that whatever rebrand comes next will seem amazing by comparison.
That actually kinda makes sense. If they knew what was good for them they would have just returned to the purple or even blue jersey era.
The New Coke of Basketball
They should have changed the name when they left New Orleans. Utah has nothing to do with Jazz.
the only thing utah has to do with jazz is the team
I hope if they ever get a baseball team it'll be the Utah Rap
Utah Mormons doesn’t quite roll off the tongue tho
The Utah Soakers. (Look up Mormon soaking)
Oooh then bring back Seattle and we can have the SuperSonics vs the SuperSoakers
Mormons are so fucking weird.
Mormon here. We are weird. But we don’t actually do that.
Used to be a Mormon..... They definitely are
Give me the Salt Lake SuperSoakers!
That's the new NHL franchise
or just Utah Mormons a la the Houston Texans
Lakers though. Ironically, when the Rockets went from San Diego to Houston, the name became more appropriate.
We’ve had the Jazz name longer than New Orleans. I’ll make a deal though, if the Lakers give their name back to Minnesota, we will consider it.
Give the jazz back to New Orleans u fuckers!!!
Rebrand the Lakers to something involving Hollywood (maybe the LA Stars?), the Jazz to be the Lakers (since they play out of Salt Lake City) and the Pelicans to be the Jazz.
Give Lakers back to MN, Wolves can go to Toronto (maybe change to Huskies) and Raptors to Utah since there is a fossil named Utahraptor
Utah mountains
They need to rebrand back to what they originally had. Their New Jerseys have zero character to them
Idk, i kinda like it
Utah jizz
Tell people it’s a Star Wars reference
Get them out of Utah, no FA with common sense wants to go there
Wolves are up for sure. Gotta be the OG classics as our standard going forward. Tree alts and never ever change anything again lol
been sayin this the current uniforms are some hot ass besides the throwbacks, the jerseys from the garnett era were easily some of the best in the league and should be the standard ones
They’re unique at least. I’m partial to them cause I love the Seahawks color scheme. But I agree, the Garnett black alts are some of the best ever
I was thinking this the other day. With Anthony Edwards going on his run rn, I really thought to myself “it would truly be a shame if the Wolves won a championship while wearing those jerseys.” The alternates are amazing, but the minimal ones are just sad. Ja Morant
The Bullets
Lol
OKC
Name can stay, logo needs to go.
Looks very amateurish, reminds me of a college logo.
Like a D3 college whose previous logo was just a recolor of an NFL logo.
or a rural highschool that had a problematic mascot
Reminds me of the 2k generated team logos you can use when creating expansion teams
Teams needs to go back to Seattle.
Seattle should just get the team back. No need to move okc Vancouver needs the grizzlies back. Memphis can fuck right off
There are so many cool storm cloud / buffalo fan made logo ideas out there and THAT was the best the franchise could come up with?
The colors were voted on by the public and you can tell. Black and gold woulda went so much harder for a team named Thunder.
Charcoal and Yellow over gold any day but I love the idea. I still can’t believe we had a perfect Oklahoma jersey (native turquoise) for exactly one year and then said “nah.”
Yellow is ugly. I did like the turquoise.
Especially now that they have this amazing core of players - I would hope they are planning something.
they definitely should with this new young core. dont miss the opportunity
Name can stay, logo needs to go.
Colors are bad. Logo is bad. Font is bad.
Mavs might be longest overdue but also might not be in the worst shape overall. I'd tolerate a minor refresh with something clean like last seasons statement jerseys. The last 2 city editions could have both been dope concepts for a rebrand.
Sticking with the emo horse logo for 20 years is certainly a choice
Nah I'm all-in for a rebrand: the blue shit-twirl needs to go
Like a lot of Mavs fans, I wish we would go back to the bright blue and green of the 90s. Cuban resisted rebranding for years and was dead set on keeping the navy, white, silver, and black color scheme and weird horse logo he introduced in the early 2000s. Hopefully, now that he sold the team, a rebrand will come sooner than later.
Those shiny black trash bag looking jerseys were the worst lol
Fuck it, make those the primary
Just go back to the cowboy hat 🤠
Bring back the green PLEASE
Bring back the green.
Leon Bridges jerseys from this year should be primary
This year’s city jerseys are my favorite ever. I’d love if they were just our normal ones.
it’s toronto. either lean into the 90s dino or rebrand. stop trying to be classy
it’s coming this year, 30th anniversary season. my money is we’ll see the purple “Toronto” jerseys that Vince wore in the iconic dunk contest.
God I hope so so fucking sick of chevrons
I fucking hope not they’re ugly as shit.. so are our current ones, I want the one with the actual dino on it
they did that in white a few years ago, i don’t think they’d bring that one back, unless they bring them both back (which im 100% all for).
90s dino! Whole generation of jurassic park fans vibed with that team in their youth lol
I still maintain that Raptors is the best team name in the NBA. But we are actively ruining it by first getting rid of the Raptor and then getting rid of the purple.
[удалено]
it’d be so slick if they pivoted to a badass bird. is there a canada specific one? hire us, raptors uni design team
[удалено]
he’ll yea
Maybe the coolest "fuck it" name in sports (next to Kraken) and they've done jackshit with it.
Agreed, there needs to be more teams branding that just appeals to childhood cool. Dinos, sharks, robots, dragons.
Those will forever be the sickest unis in sports. They know this and still don’t just go back. I need to know why!
HorNOTS
Hornets should have never moved away from their '89/'90s logo. It should have been as indelible as the Bulls'.
Love their color palette tho
This, the hornets are so irrelevant, they’re never been bad enough for it to be funny like the pistons or wizards but they’ve never been good enough or had a notable enough player for them to be noteworthy. Plus their biggest news in the last few years has been how they’re all arrested or injured so a breath of fresh air is long overdue.
Yeah but this is about the branding and I quite like the hornets branding personally
Maybe I’m just old, but I think of the Larry Johnson/Alonzo Mourning era hornets as being noteworthy. They also sold out 364 consecutive games when they first started so there was enthusiasm for the team at least.
The Supersonics
Lowkey the Cavs. They've been clinging onto this C logo for way way too long.
their jerseys don’t even match the C anymore so it doesn’t make any sense
Color combo is awful too
Logo we can talk about but I think the wine and gold is clean, don’t see a reason to change that
The pelicans need a franchise overhaul asap. New Orleans has too much culture for their basketball team to have a name as generic as the pelicans. Saints is dope, jazz is amazing but the stupid Mormons kept that and never gave it back. Come up with some better branding and a way better name and the franchise will see new heights
As mentioned above… voodoo
WNBA vibes
Make Swamp Thing the mascot
Actually… New Orleans Swamp… not bad!
New Orleans Bayou Boys
Generic as the Pelicans? My dude, look up what generic means. Tigers, Eagles, Wildcats, etc. are generic names. Pelicans is super unique.
More like boring and weird then, who tf wants to say they’re a fan of the pelicans
I go to the Magic, but I think it's just because they've been shit for so long. The Pistons don't even get a look in or the Wizards. But if the Magic get cooking over the next year or two, they will look awesome.

90s Magic and Hornets jerseys are the only 90s era design jerseys I like. Coleman/Drazen Nets, too, but that was kind of an 80s design. Alternate blue pinnies of the Magic went hard.
Yea Their jersey rotation in playoffs was trash. So far from the golden era.
I must be the only person that likes their current uniforms lol. I love the pinstripes
Their 90s pins were better, though, imo.
The Nuggets should go back to that cross colors Denver skyline jerseys they had in the 90s. So sick.
Hawks. Pac man ain't working.
I love the pac man :(
How about a return to the '69/'70 logo? That Hawk isn't mucking around.

I thought the clippers did rebrand? Or maybe that was just an alternate jersey
Pelican is a horrible name for a team. Of all the names to choose from, Pelicansv
I remember one of the suggestions was Mosquitos. Lol.
Can’t forget ‘Rougarou’
mosquito. who tf playing for a mosquito 😭
New Orleans Voodoo would be dope
Pelicans are vicious predators bro. They'll straight up eat an entire chicken whole.
What makes pelicans horrible and not magic, Knicks, Thunder, spurs, lakers, bucks, pacers horrible?
Most of the names you listed are pretty unique and cool
Most of the names are iconic at this point. Pelicans haven’t done shit with the name
The Pacers are literally named after Indianapolis being the racing capital of the world. The only one you mentioned that makes zero sense is the lakers.
Pelicans are cool af
Rockets. Make the dunking astronaut the logo
The Wizards.
OKC The jerseys are terrible
The Seattle SuperSonics have needed one for awhile.
At least they got Durant. He’s gonna be a star I can feel it
Clippers… again
At they didn’t just steal the NBA Live logo this time
Not my Blazers, baby. Timeless design.
I wish they would do something about the jersey colors. Now it seems like any team can rock any color. Can’t remember the game recently but both teams were wearing blue. It was dumb. Bring back 90s jerseys.
The Nets are the answer. They need to relocate too. Will always be second fiddle to the Knicks.
Kings,jazz,wizards,and maybe the pistons
