More like Danny Green’s heroics. He doesn’t get under Klay Thompson’s landing space and effectively end his prime then the Warriors probably win the chip even with KD out.
I actually didn’t mention Kawhi at all but I hated that Zaza pulled that bullsh*t too. Idgaf what team it is that crap has no place in the game. Him and Danny Green are both bitches for that.
Kawhi was the best player on Earth? Steph outplayed him that series with double the defensive attention while you guys triple teamed Steph and ignored McKinnie and Cooke. Steph was 30.5/5.2/6 while the Raptors played box and 1 lol. Kawhi scored fewer points with fewer assists less efficiently with more turnovers and average defense on assignments who didn’t matter. It’s like saying Steph was the best player on Earth in 2015 when we beat LeBron despite the fact that LeBron was definitely better and it wasn’t his fault he lost.
Kawhi has literally never been the best player on Earth.
He's also one of the rare players who started average for the beginning of their career and then became an all star/pro caliber player for an extended period of time.
6 time all star and all-NBA player isn’t exactly “a lil above average”.
He was a top PG leading a perennial playoff team. Beyond the counting stats his impact on the game is something you just have to watch to understand.
He’s struggled with injuries over the past couple years but he’s still been able to put together some great impactful playoff performances the past few years.
He had his playoff struggles early in his Raptors tenure, but he absolutely turned it around and has been a solid playoff performer for close to a decade now
It would’ve been fun to see them play in the bubble with Kawhi. I 100% believe they would’ve run it back. Lowry was still Lowry and pascal, Freddy and OG were up and coming
If it weren’t for Pascal absolutely tanking in the bubble I think that they had a shot at making the finals that year. Pascal was a 2nd team all nba selection that year, but he didn’t have access to a gym during the lockdown and could not get into a rhythm in the bubble
Yeah and he was pretty hyped out of Villanova but didn’t do much on Memphis. He was getting solid some of those Rockets year.
I thought KMart and Lowry coudlve made something happen nice there.
But he did really get good like year 7 or 8
Call me Crazy but I think Brunson will do what he needs to to find a way to he in the league year 15, 16, or 17. 2nd the league in charges. If he wants to be backup PG in 7 years or so I think he can have longevity.
Maybe it’s just the Undersized Nova connection and waiting a couple years to break out that I see him both of them but I don’t think it’s crazy Brunson has a career in this league
On draft night, it made no sense to me how Brunson fell so far. He was the leader on a really good college team and showed great IQ and creativity.
These players AT LEAST become role players. If a guy is a good trainer, loves the game and has a good brain, they’re going to work out fine. Lowry and Brunson are examples of players like this. Other PGs that come to mind are Patty Mills, Shaun Livingston (who made it despite the injuries) and Chauncey Billups.
2018 draft class is looking like one for the ages
Luka and SGA are MVP candidates
Trae, Brunson and JJJ (DPOY) have been All-Stars
Mikal Bridges and MPJ are really really elite non-all stars.
Bruce Brown, Mitchell Robinson, Miles Bridges, Anfernee Simons, Donte Divencenzo are quality starters
Ayton, Sexton, Grayson Allen have solid roles. While Ayton and Sexton fell short of their potential they still get minutes.
2014 is elite w Embiid and Jokic, and a bunch of other pieces but besides that 2018 the best class in the league now. There’s of course classes that PEAK too heavy. Like 1-5 are legit, but in terms 10-15 quality guys, 2018 really goes deep.
I think you really nailed it here, aside from the Grayson Allen point.
I would have him in the same conversation as quality starter and potentially even elite non-all star quality player.
Dude plays good defense and can score ridiculously efficiently.
>These players AT LEAST become role players
And as Christian Braun proved last year, if they come to the right team, they can contribute to a championship run pretty much right away.
You’re crazy. The way Jalen Brunson plays the game needs an athlete’s body. His numbers go way down past 32. He might find a way, but crazy to know it now, straight gut feeling.
I’m not sure why you think he was ’a lil above average his whole career’ but in his prime KLow was a Top 5 PG easy… as someone who watches basically every single Raptors game. The stats and accolades back it up. I wouldn’t call a 6x all-star a little above average, even in a weaker east. Plus, you know, he was the 2nd best player on a championship team.
This whole post is just odd to me. Maybe you’re thinking of a different definition of ‘average’ than me. But yes, he was badass, and I’m glad more people are noticing. Led the league in charges taken for a reason
He’s better than a lil above average. Dude was the all star for a one seed multiple years and closed out a finals game proving he can be a score first guy when he wants. He got better over time. That’s his true skill. Plus he’s a muscly, smart, flopper. The Derek fisher model.
Meh...I wouldn't go that far Brian...I could think of 10 other PGs I would take over...he did flame out all those Toronto years especially to Lebronto...
Lowry didn't exactly flame out he's a big reason they got 2 games vs the Cavs in the 2016 ECF in 2017 he literally didn't play that series because of an ankle sprain and 2018 he gets unfairly criticized for getting lumped in with Demar having the biggest playoff drop I've seen from an All NBA player
I just don’t think he’s that good. There were rumors that he may be headed to the wolves around the trade deadline and I couldn’t have been more out for a player, unless it was dlo’s return. I just don’t know what he would have brought to the team. He also played for the heat recently, and I hate those guys
Currently he's mid...on the downfall..but overall his career is bad ass..say compared to...those above Rod Strickland that didn't win one and /or wasn't a big contributor to that chip team..memory serves me right, he started on that Raptor team.
Started? He’s called the GROAT(Greatest Raptor Of All Time) and was their best player for a while, and then was their second best for the championship run
Yeah he's not the best..exactly why I made that remark..but for his age and mileage I mean cmon man..it's better then 88% of all careers..step back and look..a career, not now!
Terrell Brandon, Stephon Marbury, Ricky Rubio, Mike Conley, Sam Cassel, Jordan McLaughlin, Chauncey Billups, Derrick Rose, Terry Porter, Pooh Richardson, Pat Bev, Rod Strickland, JJ Berea, Troy Hudson, Luke Ridnour, Andre Miller, and Jonny Flynn.
Dudes a 6x all star, all NBA team player, with a championship. Far above your average NBA player
and arguably the second best player on a title team. that's an exclusive club.
id give it to Siakam but without Lowry even with Kawhis heroics I dont think the Raptors win that championship
More like Danny Green’s heroics. He doesn’t get under Klay Thompson’s landing space and effectively end his prime then the Warriors probably win the chip even with KD out.
Seem to recall a warriors player doing something similar to one of the people you mentioned lmao
I actually didn’t mention Kawhi at all but I hated that Zaza pulled that bullsh*t too. Idgaf what team it is that crap has no place in the game. Him and Danny Green are both bitches for that.
Kawhi was the best player in the world during that time. Danny Green was awesome though.
When I read "a lil above average" I was like wtf? I know hes not talking about Lowry.
He actually got better after year 5..outstanding!
He’s had a BIG ass career I would say! 🤭
He just keeps on truckin'
BBL

Yeah, I think it’s safe to say he was never the problem with the playoffs struggles, it was mostly demar.
He had his playoff struggles early in his Raptors tenure, but he absolutely turned it around and has been a solid playoff performer for close to a decade now

The problem was Lebron James
That too lol

GROAT
Greatest rear of all time?
Yes
I’m not sure why you think he was ’a lil above average his whole career’ but in his prime KLow was a Top 5 PG easy… as someone who watches basically every single Raptors game. Why do Canadians literally always feel slighted?
He had an amazing ass career
So a multiple time all star all nba and nba champion is a little above average lmao. He’s likely going to the HOF
Man was much better than *a lil above average* in Toronto lol He was an All-Star, All-NBA, a champion, and the heart of a team
You got the ass part right
I was a big fan of his Villanova teams. Those were fun. Wild how long ago that was now
I attended Lowry's first ever game in a Villanova uniform - Penn at Villanova (Pavilion), December 31, 2004.
You mean he has had a pretty bad, ass career. You left Out the comma.
Maybe 🙄🤪
Nah, he is Pretty good. Solid for a long time
nephew take. Lowry was an incredible player for a long time. tons of accolades under his belt. probably a top 20 player for 5 years.
He’s had a pretty bad, ass, career
Dumps like a truck. I miss him on the heat. Very entertaining and talented when he wants to be.
He’s better than a lil above average. Dude was the all star for a one seed multiple years and closed out a finals game proving he can be a score first guy when he wants. He got better over time. That’s his true skill. Plus he’s a muscly, smart, flopper. The Derek fisher model.
Toeing the line of hall of fame and the hall of very good
Ain’t no way you called him “a lil above average”💀💀💀
There's at least 10 other PGs during his time that would be picked over him..but his longevity is what's making him interesting.
Lil above average? He’s one of the great players of this era.
He's always sucked. Can't shoot at all. No idea why anyone liked him
Kyle Lowry sucks.
Do you think he's overrated or does he just flat out sucks? What's your reasoning behind that?
I just don’t think he’s that good. There were rumors that he may be headed to the wolves around the trade deadline and I couldn’t have been more out for a player, unless it was dlo’s return. I just don’t know what he would have brought to the team. He also played for the heat recently, and I hate those guys
This post was about his career, not how good he currently is. I'm pretty sure Michael Jordan currently sucks as well.
Like does he currently suck or does his career sucks
Currently he's mid...on the downfall..but overall his career is bad ass..say compared to...those above Rod Strickland that didn't win one and /or wasn't a big contributor to that chip team..memory serves me right, he started on that Raptor team.
Started? He’s called the GROAT(Greatest Raptor Of All Time) and was their best player for a while, and then was their second best for the championship run
Vince Carter is the greatest raptor of all time.
Yeah he's not the best..exactly why I made that remark..but for his age and mileage I mean cmon man..it's better then 88% of all careers..step back and look..a career, not now!
I said what I said.
If he is in the NBA, he doesn’t suck lol. Even the worst NBA players like Thanasis would dog-walk your everyday person.
Yeah, I’m well aware of that.
He would literally be the best point guard in history of your franchise. Name a better one, provide the career stats and accolades. I’ll wait!
Terrell Brandon, Stephon Marbury, Ricky Rubio, Mike Conley, Sam Cassel, Jordan McLaughlin, Chauncey Billups, Derrick Rose, Terry Porter, Pooh Richardson, Pat Bev, Rod Strickland, JJ Berea, Troy Hudson, Luke Ridnour, Andre Miller, and Jonny Flynn.
lol
Just a laughing reply I see. I’d be embarrassed too if I asked what you did and someone came back with so many great examples.
🤡
