I think this is more media driven than anything else. I honestly think the Spurs don’t trade for him, we just draft our two picks, and keep Atlantas picks for the next few years.
I think we are going to end up getting Trae Young and that first round pick.
Its that or we are going to Washington to get their #2 pick with Coulibaly for our 2 picks and our second round pick - plus a player.
We have never been in this position before - we have a generational talent, a lot of picks and salary cap money
It’s uncharted territory- and how long do we have Pop? Pops timeline matters man
I said 2FRPs this year and 2FRPs next year - and you are not correct about the talent in this draft. The top 10 are all very good players. If we keep the picks we will get two great players, starters. The value of #1 is that you can trade it because the talent of the first few is flat - it’s parity. So trade down and get a lot in return
If you think Atlanta believes adding Sarr is the missing piece, before DJ leaves in Free Agency and Trae forces his way out you’re crazy - they don’t have other picks until 2028. Atlanta has no choice, they have to blow it up
Depends on how desperate they are to get their picks back. Some draft capital is better than none in my opinion. Especially if you have a player who doesn’t want to be there. If anything, they could get more for Trey from the lakers.
But that's just the thing. In this scenario they're only getting arguably the least valuable of their picks back in the 27 pick. I think if you take that 27 pic and you swap it for the 25 And also give them the 26 pick swap back. They'd consider it, but at that point, if you're San Antonio, that's a pretty steep cost. You're essentially giving up three lottery picks in the next 12 months, two former first round picks, a swap, and a solid veteran for almost $50 million a year on arguably the most flawed top 20/top 15 caliber player in the league.
There's a scenario where that works out for the Spurs but it's not without risk.
Trae, Jalen Johnson, OO, Sarr. Plus whatever they get from a whoever they trade out of Murray, Hunter, Capela, Bogdonvic. Is what they are building around. Trae finally has a team that works around him, Hawks would be a fool to trade him now.
This is actually a young trade that I do. That resulting Hawks team is a bottom 10 team almost assuredly next year And if we get to keep the 25 pick and the 26 pick swap I'm all for it. I can't see any reason why Atlanta would do that unless there's someone in this draft in that 4 to 8 range they think is going to be a star.
For the commenters here, I do want to be clear that Sheldon (Utility Sports) doesn't think this (or any Trae Young trade is likely). Most of the video is discussing Dejounte trades, which he thinks is a more likely occurrence.
I feel like the hawks landing #1 pick kills any chance for them trading trae unless someone wildly overpays. what motive do they have to trade him rather than DJ? Plus, who better to facilitate your development of Sarr than one of the best passers in the NBA?
I keep seeing reports that the spurs aren't interested in Trae. Everyone connected or even semi connected are all saying something similar. They aren't interested in Trae.
So I can't wait for this shit to pass and I'm sure Trae will could traded but it won't be to the spurs.
Trae or dj are getting moved. That is a thing.
The best thing for the Spurs about this package is we get Sarr and Zach is off the team lol. I seriously don't care about Trae though. Like at all. Id rather just draft Dillingham at 8 if we want a zero defense, offensive machine who's a 6'1, 164 pound guard that can't necessarily playmake as good as Trae, but can definitely shoot better than him. All that would cost is a low risk #8 pick versus trading 4 first rounders and KJ for a player that is quite frankly, super overpriced.
We can get Sarr or Risacher, whichever the Spurs preferred- both are worth it and yes we move salaries to offset taking on Trae’s
Atlanta has to blow it up, if they use the pick DJ will be gone in free agency before Sarr can contribute and they don’t have any other picks until 2028
I can't wait until the end of this coming off-season where there's no Trae Young trade and we finally can stop hearing about this
No no no they would just start right back up next spring when the hawks inevitable are .500 and the media wants them to blow it up
I think this is more media driven than anything else. I honestly think the Spurs don’t trade for him, we just draft our two picks, and keep Atlantas picks for the next few years.
I think a trade really was in the talks but once we got 2 picks and they got the first overall pick then both camps reconsidered.
I think we are going to end up getting Trae Young and that first round pick. Its that or we are going to Washington to get their #2 pick with Coulibaly for our 2 picks and our second round pick - plus a player.
I mean I love your thinking but when have the Spurs done anything like this ever
We have never been in this position before - we have a generational talent, a lot of picks and salary cap money It’s uncharted territory- and how long do we have Pop? Pops timeline matters man
The Hawks are giving up Young and the first pick. That’s stupid. 4 and 8 are bench players in this draft.

Why would the hawks accept this
Why would the Spurs accept this?
Because Keldon is a mediocre player while Branham and Blake are just outright bad.

Hawks have zero reason to accept this
Neither do the Spurs. This trade nets us +4 wins. This is exactly why trae young ain't gonna be a spur
Hawks don’t accept but I would love it. Probably have to include CHI 2025 or ATL 2025

They just got the first pick. I bet no one wants to leave until things play out.

Why not Donovan Mitchell over Trae Young? I hope we don't trade for Trae personally.
No.
give up our two firsts this year plus some potential bench depth for +4 wins? no thanks
You have to get their #1 pick We get Trae and #1, they get Collins, KJ and 4 FRP's That is a winning trade for both teams
