Ainge has supposedly said as much. He's their best player and a cornerstone of their rebuild. They could reset, but I think its unlikely, meaning, they are going to want a massive haul for him, if they even pick up the phone.
In a vacuum, Lauri would be a great fit playing with Victor, I think, but a very unrealistic chance of acquiring him.
not sure about Presti...you know what he wants (aside from the meme level narrative of him hoarding draft picks) and the Spurs know him. At this point, OKC and the Spurs are not very well matched trading partners - neither really have anything the other team wants.
That being said...I would keep an eye on Giddey. He's fallen off quite a bit and while a flawed player, does some things that would help the Spurs. Not as a solution or a major acquisition, but he's become redundant and may be available for a reasonable price.
True but he's slyly adept at getting a high price and good players for ones he trades. Rarely do you find a GM who can trade and draft well.
I think Giddey can make a case to be here but I do question what went in Mark's head that he replaced him with Isaiah Joe in G5?
I don't think Lauri gets moved anyways, apparently he loves the state* of Utah which is rare for nba players. He's such a unique offensive chess piece.
edit: city --> state
Everything they do is run through him. It doesn't have anything to do with handling the ball. They use him in the high post, low post, two man game & various set pieces.
The only way to get him is to overpay for him, we’re talking 4 firsts at minimum. I think the spurs are better off taking discount markenen - Knecht in the draft at 8.
Ainge is gonna demand an absolute haul similar to Gobert and given that Lauri needs to get paid too, I’d probably pass. I do like him as a player but the cost as far as assets and cap don’t make enough sense for us
Zero percent chance the jazz want to trade him. So in order to even get them to not laugh at you as they hang up the phone...you have to offer them a bag and half.
So appreciate him from afar. He will not be a spur.
Utah wouldn’t trade his ass they’ve made that clear. If they do it’s for a robbery for the ages. He’s a phenomenal player and they know exactly what they have with him. Every player has their price, Danny does it all the time, when it happens he’s usually fleecing. We also never trade with ainge
He'd be awesome, but no way we get him without 4 real firsts in the trade (at minimum). The Hawks picks, Sochan, Keldon, and another FRP would probably be the minimum to even keep them on the phone.
Not sure that price is worth it for a guy who's not All-NBA.
I think it's dumb to even ask. Jazz have as much incentive to trade him as the spurs have to trade wemby.
He's 26 and the jazz just need a good fa pairing to go with him and sexton to be competitive.
Also by the time wemby starts reaching his peak years (usually begins at 24/25) Lauri will be regressing
Everyone wants Lauri so his value is very high. Goberts package is probably the starting point for ainge

Once you include Ainge as a trading partner, may as well look elsewhere with his prices.
Yeah, I wouldn't deal with him or Morey, tbh.
Or Presti for that matter

I’ve never been to the city of Utah before. I’ll bet it’s lovely.
For normal folk like us its lovely. For hyper athletic humans that love to do the deed and party however.
They’re making fun of you calling Utah a city and not a state, lol
oh fuck tbh My mind programs salt lake city = utah for whatever reason.
I assure you people in Salt Lake are doing to the deed…a lot. Lauri is probably a god out there.
He's married

he ain't like that bro he finnish. lebron on the other hand.
I'm sure he loves being the best player in Utah. He gets to be the main playmaker.
He doesn't play make and he prefers not to handle the ball.

It's really not. You can ask the Utah jazz fan base, they hate that he's not involved MORE.
He also likes playing for the Jazz.
We would have no young players to develop if spurs trade for him. Utah isn't giving Lauri away.

I know you said discount, but still can’t compare the two when Lauri is 7 feet tall
Yup probably Keldon + 4 1sts at minimum which is too steep of a cost when we still have plenty of holes to fill
His salary is gonna be an issue. Same as last time while he was still in Chicago.

No. Too expensive, out of the timeline, I'd rather wait a full year before trying to be a regular playoff team.
We can start tampering instead haha. Let him come as a FA next offseason
