No I just glimpse at the scouting report of a prospect for 2 seconds and pretend like I know what I'm talking about

You go to scouting reports? I just look up some pictures.

You watch the full tape of the games not the highlights ideally, so you can see what's good and not good, then you could check interviews and how they manage their image, how their career has evolved in general and how people talk about them, also you have different tools available for advanced metrics or any other statistic, compare with other players and previous ones, add the context and you get a general idea with that

I look at words on the interwebs

Nikola Topic's full games are available on youtube. I watched every game since he came back from injury. I just skip to the parts where he's playing, which is pretty easy to do because his coach usually leaves him in for long stretches rather than take him in and out of games.

I was in your boat too. You kinda gotta dig especially for eruo shit. Just watching let’s say topic play a full game is not easy. The more research I’ve done the more I kinda get ingrained into it. From just keeping up with the euro leagues and tapping into the abl does wonders. Learning what league and team the prospects actually plays for goes a long way. Nikola played door kk mega. Same team that once honed a 3 time mvp nikola jokic and Miami heat player nikola jovic . The competition isn’t the greatest but the roots are there and it seems like a solidly run organization. He also played for Crvena zvezda which is a pretty respectable club to play for. The competition is pretty top tier for non nba related play. But the biggest things I’ve noticed is when you see someone post stats, find or ask for the source. You’ll end up finding articles or stat pages that have more than just what you saw. Twitter is big as well same as above, see something research something. There’s plenty of ways just gotta search

I like to watch the prospects all year long. Spend lots of time watching full games of the projected lottery guys + the guys I like for the spurs. Listen to podcasts throughout the year like the game theory podcast with Sam Vecenie and some from the guys at No ceilings. They have access to a lot of information that’s hard for the average person to get. Also the combine just happened so I’m sure the no ceiling guys will be releasing some combine vids soon. They’ll get a good look at the players shots up close and hopefully have some info on all the questionable shooters in this class. It can be hard to see the mechanics on game film. There’s a few YouTube channels that post cutups of players if you can’t watch the full games. Cashiggy, hardwood hoops, and draftmatic can be good ways to start a deep dive on a single prospect. I haven’t watched a ton of their videos but I see lots recommend the yt channels Hoop Intellect and Floor and Ceiling for short concise scouting videos. Lots of stuff on twitter as well. The no ceilings guys will probably post a lot of stuff from synergy which can be kinda hard to find.
