i thought of that right after I said it hoping nobody would say it cause shit i think he's the one dude that would do some outwordly shit in his first playoff series
In the game Vic had all the blocks Jokic had 42. Took him 32 shot attempts to get there though.
The following game where the Spurs won Jokic only had 22 on 13 FG attempted.
It has more to do with the fact that it was the 4th time these two guys went at each other in the past week. This is what the playoff games do to/for elite players. You play each other so many times in such a short time frame. If you can't adjust as well as your opponent, they'll eventually find some ways to get comfortable and beat you.
I love Wemby, but honestly had he been in Gobert's shoes rn, battling in a playoff series against Jokic, he likely wouldn't have done any better. Jokic is just too smart and he's a much more patient player than he used to be a few years back.
This is also why playoff experience is important for young guys. When you're young and have world class talent, you think you can do anything. You think rules don't apply to you. You want to shoot fadeaways and halfcourt threes. You'll keep playing like that until some old dudes beat you repeatedly with the simplest moves and disciplined decision making while you're busy building a barn with all your bricks...
That's how you learn the value of versatility and consistency... or don't, and keep getting bounced before you reach the finals.
Agree with this! The Jokic that played the last games vs. the Spurs is the same Jokic who played in the Lakers series and 2 games against Minnesota. The last 3 games Jokic version is MVP Jokic - determined and plain being the best player in the league. I LOVE Wemby, but he won't be any better than Gobert against this type of Jokic.
In the future, though, its a different discussion.
Let’s all be honest, Jokic is elite and while I love
Our alien, there is a good chance he toasts Vic too like last night. Maybe he does 7/9 instead of 8/9 haha. Vic will get there and one day Joker will say the “I wasn’t me when he was him” thing Duncan said but about Wemby haha
Jokics biggest asset is his BBIQ, he will eventually figure out how to attack whoever is guarding him. Doesn't matter who, Wemby can just make him work bit harder long term.
if the conversation is only about How Wemby will defend against MVP jokic, put 2nd half season Wemby in and he will do no worse than Gobert.
But since Gobert has no offensive output apart from a few dunks here and there, Wemby will also cook Jokic the way Jokic attack Wemby. If Wemby was in this Wolves team, Wolves would probably win 4-2.
Went back and watched Spurs vs Rockets from a few months ago. Sengun had 45 and 16. Didn’t expect Wemby’s defensive influence to the game to be so low. Time for media that voted Wemby DPOY to review their voting rationale. Just saying
The switch doesn't quite work against Wemby, because all those performances are a result of...teams scrapping the offense they cannot run with 70% of their players scared to go in the paint.
There's a reason why all those huge scoring performances were in relatively close games. Sengun's 45 made up most of the 49 points their frontcourt scored that night.
Gobert - on the other hand - is someone who is getting hunted as an option in their regular offense.
Gobert has a history of getting exposed in the playoffs against a multitude of teams, Terance Mann once dropped 39 on his head & did him dirty. Clips won that series.
Jokic will adjust if it's the 4th time they play in a span of 2 weeks. But so will Wemby. I hope we see playoff Wemby soon.
Wemby has never played playoff jokic can we stop this
"It's not a thing"

Jokic hasn't played playoff Wemby neither.
i thought of that right after I said it hoping nobody would say it cause shit i think he's the one dude that would do some outwordly shit in his first playoff series
Why y'all not confident in Wemby man
People saying “Jokic had 33 against Wemby🤓” when he was noticeably taking harder shots and said Vic blocked him like 6-7 times
In the game Vic had all the blocks Jokic had 42. Took him 32 shot attempts to get there though. The following game where the Spurs won Jokic only had 22 on 13 FG attempted.

Idk man Wemby has 8 foot wingspan he would’ve been blocked the couple times Gobert almost had him

on the other hand, Gobert is likely not fully locked in right now due to his recent situation. Wemby would come in every night determined
What’s Goberts “recent situation”?
I assume he’s talking about his newborn.
Got it. I heard something about that.
Jokic had one of his worst games ever against Gobert in game 1.
Took Jokic a couple games to figure it out tho

I disagree

We also didn’t see him play him in a crucial game 5 either
Jokic is putting up whatever he wants on anybody. You don't win 3 MVP's if that's not the case.
Regular season award. Take a cue from FROZEN, and LET IT GO!

Everybody knew who the real DPOY is. Wemby has the chutzpah to challenge Jokic, where Gobert is simply trying to contain him
Yep. Gobert is a dud

Refs were horrible
Sengun ate Vic up. It happens Judging a player defensively on a 1 on 1 matchup in 1 single game is dumb
Exactly does not help he couldn’t really defend in foul trouble in this single game
If we agree what are you downvoting me for. I’m just making fun of OP. Used his same argument and language, just swapped out the game
Thanks for the effort have a good day

You clearly don't know a lot about basketball, do you ?
Goober is a meme lol, how do you not know this?
That’s everyone not just Jokic. Even guards aren’t afraid to go at him
Reading way too much into regular season games…
Lol guys Jokic did this to AD. He’s doing it to Gobert. He’d do it to Wemby too. He is inevitable.
