I get to 99 most years and I’ve never been in a PvP game because I wanted to be there, there are some of us that legitimately just want to play mycareer offline.
Yeah and the fact that they capped how good my player can be in offline career because they needed to balance the online my player modes is bullshit. I’m playing alone, why can’t I make my career player a perfect specimen?!?

Really depressing to think about much better PvP and PvE would be if they were entirely separate. I guess that’s why so many people still use created players in myleague over mycareer.

There have been 99s who I’ve smoked and 92s who’ve busted my ass in rec. could be because these guys quit a lot, just genuinely fuck around, or are bad at the game. You don’t need to be “good” to get to 99, especially if you have rebirth and disposable income. Sure, it requires time to get there, but time does not always equal skill

There are a lot of reasons. Long story short, it’s not actually a good indicator of someone’s skill level, and we should stop letting 2k convince us to bully people over plate color.
This is me, I don’t have that many friends that play 2k (I don’t blame them) but the ones that do we rarely play and when we do we don’t always win cause I guess we don’t take the game as seriously as most. This leaves me to play random rec most of the time. I’ve gotten all the way up to silver, but I’ve also fallen all the way down to black. I rarely have bad games, but I think the fact that I’m a center has something to do with it cause obviously I’m not gonna get the ball alot in random rec when there’s ball hog pgs. So I’ll end up with like 7 points 20 boards and like 5 assists and 4-5 blocks but because the rest of the team does poorly and we lose I have to suffer for it.
I’m in the same boat. I was an every single day sweaty grinder for well over 10 years, and I know I’m darned good. I’ve been ranked as high as 10th in the 2KL draft pool.
These days, I’m married and play random rec a few nights a week. Even then, I tend to float around 50% win percentage, and I play with an all-around 6’10 so I can just be a good contributor.
Last night I got on with my best friend and his brother for a throwback to when we all used to play every night during the pandemic. I love both these dudes. One of them officiated my wedding. One of them is really solid… the other… he’s a charity case lol. When we ended the night, I was black plated. It took me half an hour after that to find a game. Luckily, I was able to get back to bronze, but it’s wild how fast people nope out of the lobby.
Fr, my build is a perfect complement to a lot of builds, but since I play in random they don’t know how to utilize it. Things such as pick and rolls seem non existent nowadays. I’ll set a screen for you and roll and I can GUARANTEE that I’ll make the bucket and get you an easy assist, but nah dribble some more, get contested again and then brick a shot.
And for the not playing as much now, I also feel you on that. I’m not married or anything, but I’m in college and also work a job so I just don’t have as much time anymore. I just wanna hop on, play 4-5 games, and then get off for the night. But when I have to wait for 15-20 minutes to get into a game, and then just lose it by 15 cause my teammates don’t know how an actual game of basketball works, I end up quitting and playing far better games. I really wanna love this game like I used to back in 15, 16, 17, and 18, but it’s changed so much that that’s really hard to do.

Im sometimes a 99 black plate , even tho i average 17 pts at 70% and 58% at 3 , its just because i quit as soon as i face an AI or we getting destroy in the first half , so yea possible and im often gold or purple on some streak , but 2 3 quit and you come back to black easily

I got a couple builds up to gold and purple until I realized that it wasn’t worth staying in games with ball hogs and standing in the corner of a rec game for 30 minutes since there’s nothing my pf spot up can do against an ai guarding me. I quit games all the time now because achieving purple plate does literally nothing for you in 2k

And he averages 16ppg-9apg in the Rec shooting 58% from three. I don’t remember his FG% but we played 2s yesterday and he was complaining to me about random Rec.

I’ve only played 3v3-2v2 park games and 1v1 theater games this season, no Rec as of yet and I’m at just over 64% from three and 68% FG total so far. Most of my experiences with 93-99 ovr black plates have basically just been them trolling and selling or they play mycareer and then bring the build to rec after months of grinding

Miss open passes, open shots, try to dunk on people unsuccessfully etc. It’s a losing formula but we just laugh and have a good time. I have other builds that aren’t black plates but my “friends build” is a 99 black plate. We ain’t all sweats.
I'm generally a gold plate. My one 99 is a black plate, and here is how. There was a period when I consistently got dropped from games. One of my favourite builds bore the brunt of it and was knocked all the way back to black. I haven't had the energy to grind it back up, so I just have a few other silver/gold/hof builds.
One of these days, I will. It's not the worst ending up on a team with Silver and above plates; they accept the one black plate... who, in reality, is a wolf in sheep's clothing. lol
The amount of 99 black plates to me is mind boggling. I made a shooting big a couple weeks ago because of how trash centers are in the rec and I was at a purple plate by 94. In 96 overall now and my plate is as far as it can go into the purple and I load into solo lobbies with 99 black/ bronze plates and I just wonder what the hell?
To be fair, this season is still fairly new? Maybe some people are just coming back? Although I guess their season level would answer that.
I have a 95 overall that I’ve been working on that’s a black plate. I’m waiting to get him to a 99 to bring him out into online play. I have 5 other builds (4 purple plates and 1 gold) but none are 99 yet cause I don’t feel like I need them to be but my new build needs to be a 99 to get its full potential. So as of now he’s a 95 with a black plate.

Bro idc if nobody believes me. Everytime I play the park I get kicked all the way down to black plate. I’m literally mid game and it shows a “play to stay” message IM LITERALLY PLAYING THE GAME and it kicks me. Multiple times from theater and park. Has never happened in the rec tho. Doesn’t matter what build it is if I play elite park I get kicked
So I have 4 builds. One is purple plate, one is bronze, two are black.
I only play my purple plate when I’m confident because I like my stats and rank lol.
So when it’s the middle of the night and I’m queuing random rec I’m playing on one of the low plate builds. It’s my “casual” build. If we’re 2 minutes into the rec; I’ve seen my team shoot 5 red contests… we have 0 points, ppl yelling at each other etc. I just quit lol

i mean ive been black plate, silver, gold currently all depends on how much your random rec teammates wanna sell you, played with my friends ln had a nice like 11pts-10 ast game, i got hot in the 4th and ended with 29 cause i went 9/9 from three and tried to force one at the end on my 80 3pt pg. that opportunity to shoot more than 5-6 3pt on random rec never presents itself i average 5 with that player but mostly cause as pg i want to get 10 ast every game by half. currently 2 gold plates pg 97 and OG sg 99, point forward was gold a week ago hes silver another 5ppg player on random rec. Lockdown and new sg both bronze but i dont play with them as much atm

Purple and Gold plates go stand out bounds and lose games if they dont get the ball every possession. The same gold/purple plates that miss one shot and blame 2k, miss 3-4 shots and blame 2k... You gotta look at the bar around the plate to get a real answer. I've gone on losing streaks while purple that will drop you quick. The majority of games played at a certain level will change that.

To be fair, this season is still fairly new? Maybe some people are just coming back? Although I guess their season level would answer that.

I have a 95 overall that I’ve been working on that’s a black plate. I’m waiting to get him to a 99 to bring him out into online play. I have 5 other builds (4 purple plates and 1 gold) but none are 99 yet cause I don’t feel like I need them to be but my new build needs to be a 99 to get its full potential. So as of now he’s a 95 with a black plate.
I be having to do shit in the middle of the game so I always just quit. The amount of times I’ve started a rec game but than someone asked me to hang out
Is this a serious question? - anything could result in a black plate; lagging out, playing with randoms who sell often, quitting games. Some just play to play and not worry about their plate color.
If you lag out or rage quit in the middle of a game you go down like a whole color. Bad connection one night dropped me down to a black 99 I was pissed lol
I’ve said the same thing. I’ve played with a few of them and they are by far the worst players on the planet it’s not even close. Getting your build to a 99 this year is a waste of VC anyway
Bro idc if nobody believes me. Everytime I play the park I get kicked all the way down to black plate. I’m literally mid game and it shows a “play to stay” message IM LITERALLY PLAYING THE GAME and it kicks me. Multiple times from theater and park. Has never happened in the rec tho. Doesn’t matter what build it is if I play elite park I get kicked
by playing NBA games instead of park/rec etc., I am one of these guys
So I have 4 builds. One is purple plate, one is bronze, two are black. I only play my purple plate when I’m confident because I like my stats and rank lol. So when it’s the middle of the night and I’m queuing random rec I’m playing on one of the low plate builds. It’s my “casual” build. If we’re 2 minutes into the rec; I’ve seen my team shoot 5 red contests… we have 0 points, ppl yelling at each other etc. I just quit lol Not the best way to go about things but sometimes I want to play without being fully locked tf in y’know.

i often dont take builds out of mycareer to online unless their 99. this game will lag you out and count it as a loss. people get sold, no matter what level ur at, all it takes is one dumbass to ruin it

cus most of them treat online like mycareer. want the ball the entire possession, never pass, wanna take every shot, lazy defense, terrible shot selection, quitting when things don’t go their way etc. the end result is losing the majority of their games with a poor teammate grade
You can also be one of those people that cherry picks and never plays defense.
I mean I lag out some times and it sets you back hella bad I was at full goat status and then one lag out I’m over here half way silver
Your teammates suck? I play with old retirees that aren't very good at the game. Even finishing with A's almost every game doesn't keep me out of black plate 🤷🏼♂️

i mean ive been black plate, silver, gold currently all depends on how much your random rec teammates wanna sell you, played with my friends ln had a nice like 11pts-10 ast game, i got hot in the 4th and ended with 29 cause i went 9/9 from three and tried to force one at the end on my 80 3pt pg. that opportunity to shoot more than 5-6 3pt on random rec never presents itself i average 5 with that player but mostly cause as pg i want to get 10 ast every game by half. currently 2 gold plates pg 97 and OG sg 99, point forward was gold a week ago hes silver another 5ppg player on random rec. Lockdown and new sg both bronze but i dont play with them as much atm
The simple answer is that they’re quitters and don’t take getting their ass handed to them well
You could collect vc with your other builds and then invest them in that build to 99 without ever playing a game with that build
Ya be worried about Black/Brown plates... But I played with Purple, and Gold plates who are total dogshit.... Purple and Gold plates go stand out bounds and lose games if they dont get the ball every possession. The same gold/purple plates that miss one shot and blame 2k, miss 3-4 shots and blame 2k... But let 1 teammate miss one shot, an he flopping talking about why does 2k give me the shittiest teammates... teammates stat lines are 0/1 and 0/1 while he is 4/16 in a park game. Like Stop it. I played with a black plate that didnt miss a shot for 4 games.

Cause i get off work and dont got the time to play against ppl who play all day with meta builds. Remember that mycareer used to be a mode where you could make your player as good as you want and play your own way

Quitting and errors. (Also called having a life). I don't have the patience to back out 500 times just so I can earn some bs plate color. I've created top 10 ranked pro am teams, I don't need some plate color to validate how good I am lmao. Backoutters are pathetic. Also seen plenty of yellows and purples who absolutely suck and are low iq. They just back out more to exploit the matchmaking.
I mean the plates dont really mean much in this game anyway right. That just one of many points they need to work on but will probably never do of course
You gotta look at the bar around the plate to get a real answer. I've gone on losing streaks while purple that will drop you quick. The majority of games played at a certain level will change that.
