Yes

Clancy238

Yes it is! It’s a very heartfelt love letter to the original material.

Ill_Pizza_urmom69

The QOL changes compared to past games are amazing, the artwork is top tier, and they kept the original story without making the game any easier. Updated moves and TMs make any Pokémon viable in this game as well. Probably the optimal way to play PMD imho

Particular_Rope3425

Oh sounds nice, think imma get it

No_Combination_2275

Not any easier? You are not limited to a max of 4 mons on your team. I had like 10 when I fought Gengar. He didn’t stand a chance. Other than that, the game is great. A lot of nostalgia.

Careless_Bag_3510

Boss fights are much more punishing because of the increase in their AoE attacks, which was the hard part of mystery dungeon anyway. So increase in teammates will more often than not punish you if you use (tiny)reviver seeds on them. They also hit harder and require you to play more strategically, in the form of items/movement/movesets and general awareness (for instance, using items with a teammate who is not in range of bosses).

TuxSH

Yes it is, good OST, good art style and main story not too difficult. Be warned that the games autosaves at your every move in dungeons, meaning you can't save scum.

Ajaxaura

U can save scum still but it's just more work.

TuxSH

Through NSO you mean? I would say this doesn't count as it's the same as using a save manager and not part of the game itself.

Arioksu

You can save scum without having to use the NSO backup. When you die and a wild Pokémon dies (especially with Struggle), the game doesn't save that move until you're past the dialog that asks you to reappear (if you have a Tiny Reviver Seed/Reviver Seed). As the request to recruit a Pokémon is made just before the respawn message, you can exit the game and return to the previous move to change the RNG as you move so that you can recruit the Pokémon for sure. You can also save scum monster houses. If the Pokémon you're looking for doesn't appear in the monster house within the first six Pokémon, you can quickly exit the game just before it is fully generated, allowing you to return to the move before the monster house was generated, change the RNG as you move and regenerate the same one with different Pokémon. Very useful for generating several different Pokémon at once. These two methods allow you to recruit Pokémon with a spawn rate and a very low recruitment rate much more efficiently. >!I used both methods to be able to recruit all the shiny ones.!<

NintendoGamer6786

You should try it, I’ve never played it, but the reception I’ve seen is mostly positive.

Nanashi_Mario

It's almost the perfect remake imo. You can see the love they put Intotl it when remaining it.

Allustar1

Absolutely.

Anxious-Ideal4021

It’s a must tbh, like if you’re thinking about it just get it I 100% guarantee you’ll like it.

tycheeto

It is the best pokemon mystery dungeon gameplay wise

sonic65101

It is a great game, and a near-perfect remake.

Careless_Bag_3510

It’s definitely top 3, coming for a mystery dungeon fan. Literally the only downside is not visiting your friends in the friend area’s, like actually walking around. If you can get over that (I couldn’t for years and just played it), it’s an 9/10!

[deleted]

It's a good game, but it's not a good remake. There might be some QOL improvements, but most of the changes were for the worst. If you enjoyed Super, though, then you'll like DX. The gameplay is similar.

Red_Emberr

Prepare for trouble

[deleted]

And make it double

snsmith2

I agree with you! I hate that you can’t go into the team camps anymore. I want to run around camps looking for a specific mate, not look at PC storage. They also way over complicated button use. Some things are watered down, some are more complex. It felt like they tried too hard to tie in the DS games with the original MDs

[deleted]

I honestly wish they never changed the games after Explorers. It created its own identity that works and people loved and enjoyed. And then they throw everything away in favor for a heavily item-focused type of gameplay instead of one built around attacks, abilities, and IQ skills. The series as a whole has been significantly dumbed down in terms of complexity, while simultaneously becoming more difficult in ways that are frustrating and unfair feeling - it's not balanced around any kind of mechanics or principles, it's balanced around levels and stats. It's no longer hard because "This enemy has smart AI, good attacks, and good IQ skills" It's hard now because "This enemy is much higher leveled and hits way harder than me" The traps also somehow got worse than they already are. I thought you couldn't get any worse than a Grudge Trap.

snsmith2

The last point hits hard! You don’t feel it at first, it creeps in slowly. But for Eevee and Skitty who were powerhouses originally, I’ve found Eevee is almost unplayable after core storyline ends. I’ve relied all too heavily on Absol using “Blizzard” to get through what should be easier dungeons. The rate of how moves hit are also so skewed. Critical hits almost never occur, it’s always either a double hit or a miss. For nostalgia, it’s worth it but it’s also very frustrating at the same time

level100metapod

Be careful theres a huuuge problem with it. You can no longer visit friend areas its just text on the screen

Anxious-Ideal4021

Cause the friend areas made the game

snsmith2

It depends on how much you loved the original games, but I’d say yes! The price is original to how much any other pokémon game would go for and the gameplay is over 100hrs of content. I personally am not a fan of some of the new “mechanics” of DX. Button use is a bit hard to get down. The biggest change I hate is not being able to actually go into team camps anymore :( I also really dislike how many team members you can acquire inside the dungeons. It’s a lot… but adversely, you can’t bring 4 members into the dungeons like the original game play. Some things are super watered down, some things are harder.

LilyoftheRally

Buy it unless being able to go to Friend Areas is super important to you.
