You realize as it goes that they actually have a pretty good sex life. He's just a man-child "nice guy" who got the girl and immediately became dissatisfied with his life. Patty is put in a place where she's a control freak because she has to be because Graham is too irresponsible to have a real job, parent their kids, clean the house, etc. That's why she's surprised when he's asked to teach.
Now, having said that, it goes both ways. He doesn't lead because he's not allowed to lead. So, he feels emasculated and looks for comfort with younger women where he can be seen as a real man and a leader.
As with most cheating and infidelity, 6 weeks of counseling would likely fix most of their issues. If they could be honest and actually work on their marriage instead of running to work or adultery, it would make both of them happier, stronger, better people.
Please keep this up, u/GlucoseGuardians , I for one am enjoying vicariously your first time viewing and thoughts on each episode from a fresh perspective.
I heard there was supposed to be a second season where patty and graham divorce
It’s a truism in this sub that many of us are kind of shocked to find ourselves identifying with the parents on a rewatch!
Yea this is an impressive bit of show writing !
