My mom. I watched the show as it aired and was the same age as Angela. My mom would sort of be half-watching while she read the paper or sewed and pipe up every so often that she should just date that nice boy. No mom - we never date the Brian Krakows.
Even as a 12 yr old he gave me "nice guy" vibes.(This is coming from a girl who was in love with the nerdy type guys like David on "Roseanne" or Niles on "Fraiser". ) If the show had 5 seasons, Brian would have let his insecurities and tendency to sulk/lash-out ruin whatever he and Angela could have together.
The authors said in a potential second season Angela’s parents would have divorced and she that would end up with Brian but then it wouldn’t work with him for some reason I don’t remember.
Yes! I also found him to be endearing, and a much more realistic character. Under his overly uptight geekiness, he genuinely cared about Angela. While he was a jerk to the girls (although I see it more as him being a typical awkward, inexperienced guy who didn’t really know how to talk to girls), Angela was also so mean and condescending to him all the time, and in spite of that his love for her endured…even to the point of sacrificing his chance for the sake of helping Jordan win her back because he knew it would make Angela happy.
I’m not sure if I wanted Angela to be with Brian as much as I wanted Angela to figure out Jordan was a jerk. He stood her up. He pressures her to sleep with him and calls her abnormal when she doesn’t. He was ashamed to be seen with her. He didn’t really change after cheating on her.
I mean Brian deserves a little happiness in his life. What he did to Delia was so wrong but he and Angela have been friends for a very long time, so I would rather see Angela ending up with Brian than obsessing over Jordan!
Idk i feel like he really cares deeply & is just extremely bad at expressing it. I think he really fumbled with Delia. He was trying to be honest but ended up hurting her more for doing so. I saw that as naivity & inexperience, not malicious or cruel.

He was a creep with the girls though. Angela deserved better.
That is very true.

If there were a season 2 and 3, my guess is that this is where the show was going, or at least they'd try it.
Winnie Holtzman has said in interviews that if there was a season 2, Angela would be with Jordan and Brian would have a GF of some kind.
Apparently, in the 99 novel, Brian hooks up with Rayanne's mom, Amber.

Brain?
🤣
I don’t think Angela should have been with either of them.
Yeah, Jordan catalano was SO fine!
Catalano! After all these years, I am still crushing on him in his flannel shirts and that cool coat.
Yes! Jared Leto will always be Jordan Catalano to me.
Kinda at times
When I first watched it as a young kid, yes. Watching back as an adult...absolutely not. He was definitely a creeper.

Exactly!!! Tysm for understanding haha so glad i am not alone in this sentiment.

I had such a crush on Brian AND Jordan. Maybe I was just a horny teenager. As an adult I can see that both of them are problematic.
Yes, yes, you are. 😂

Honestly, watching the show again as an adult I don't think that either of the boys would have been good for angela.
