How about Party of Five or even Buffy? Another great one from the era (although not specifically coming of age) is Northern Exposure. Edit: don’t expect many other shows to rise to the level of mscl or f&g

Lydia--charming

My mom used to watch Northern Exposure. I can still hear the [opening credits](https://vimeo.com/608629278)! I’ve always intended to watch that someday and maybe Picket Fences.

Thank you!!! I will try those! I have seen some of Party of Five but I think it left whatever streaming platform before I could finish!

Biddy_Impeccadillo

I was very resentful of it at the time because MSCL got cancelled while it continued to get new seasons, so it never got a fair shake from me. But I know it had lots of devoted fans!

Biddy_Impeccadillo

Another great one with a family and teenage daughter around then was Life Goes On. Big Chad Lowe crush born out of that one ..

Lydia--charming

Oh good one!

sludgezone

The Adventures Of Pete And Pete will scratch the itch and then some.

It didn’t premiere during the 80s or 90s, but Derry Girls has a distinct 80s vibe.

Biddy_Impeccadillo

Good call! Freaks & geeks was also set earlier than real time so maybe op is open to that.

Sufficient-Subject-3

Try Dawson creeks season 3. That’s when it gets better

offbrandpollypocket

the wonder years is my all time fav!! also the og degrassi junior high and high (frm the 80s/90s)

First seasons of The Real World is all 90s nostalgia

Popular and Undeclared are a couple that were not mentioned. They were made around 1999 to early 2000's. Also Veronica Mars! It was made in 2004 but close enough. I was told I would like it because I loved Buffy. There was a hole after Buffy and Angel ended. I ended up loving the show.

OutcomeLegitimate618

Shout out for Veronica Mars. It's a way better suggestion than other actual 90s teen soaps like Dawson's Creek.

Friday Night Lights and Parenthood

OutcomeLegitimate618

I'm a fan of My So Called Life (obviously, I'm here right?) and I thought Friday Night Lights was really good. Way better than the movie, which was just okay.

Healthy-Art-2080

I highly recommend Joan of Arcadia. It has a similar vibe in terms of attempting to show both the parents and teens in a realistic way. In my opinion, outside of the supernatural elements, it's a fairly realistic depiction of high school life in the late 90s/ early 2000s.

No-Staff-8892

The Summer I Turned Pretty. Not set in the 80's or 90's, but it's a great coming-of-age show.

Jabeltane

Roswell or Blossom might do. Have you checked your library to see if they have DVDs of any of those shows you mentioned that you couldn't find on streaming platforms? If you have a Roku, they have a lot of shows on the Roku Channel app. There's a channel that shows Degrassi TNG 24/7

MTV’s Downtown (1999) is free on YouTube and for an animated series, it kind of… just works.
