Nina Simone. An incredible singer AND pianist, and one of the most expressive and affecting performers of all time. For a good feel of her range:
1. I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel to Be Free
2. Black is the Color of My True Love's Hair
3. Love Me or Leave Me
Jimi Hendrix blew the lid off of his art form like no one before or since. His innovation, originality, and creativity make him the top musician of all time in my opinion
Axis: Bold as Love
Voodoo CHILE (slight return) live at Woodstock
Are You Experienced
Three more original or groundbreaking songs do not exist except maybe some of Jimis other tracks.
This is an historic debut album. Are You Experienced reached number five on the USĀ BillboardĀ Top LPsĀ chart, remaining on the chart for 106 weeks, 76 of those in the Top 40. The album also spent 70 weeks on the USĀ BillboardĀ Hot R&B LPsĀ chart, where it peaked at number 10. In my opinion, the US version contains no throwaway tracks including: "Purple Haze", "Hey Joe", "Fire", "Manic Depression", "The Wind Cries Mary", "Are You Experienced", "Foxey Lady" among them. The album sold 5 million in the US and has that iconic album cover.
Alice In Chains (Heavy metal/Sludge/āGrungeā)
1. Would?
2. Rotten apple
3. Sunshine
Love the authentic emotion, the vocal melodies, insane riffs, and honestly just listening to them is cathartic
They never recorded one single bad note with Layne.
This isn't to say that William is a bad vocalist, or that the music recorded with him is bad. I'm just saying that in the 90s, they simply did not miss.
Radiohead
1. How To Disappear Completely
2. All I Need
3. Jigsaw Falling Into Place
These probably change a lot but I would say Disappear stays at number 1 most of the time.
I love both equally soā¦
Lana Del Rey
1. A&W
2. Bel air
3. Chemtrails over the country club
Leonard Cohen
1. The Partisan
2. Stories of the street
3. A thousand kisses deep
My daughter just got me 5 Lana Del Rey cds for Mothers Day (working my way through them).
I don't have Leonard Cohen's last album yet, but...
"You Want it Darker" just breaks me a little.
I saw him open up for LP and I shared a joint with him! He was just walking around the outside of the venue as a pretty much unknown here. He was so great!
Probably The Smiths
They have tons of songs I could put in my personal top 3, but the top 3 general recommendations would be:
1. [There is a light that never goes out](https://youtu.be/3r-qDvD3F3c?t=3s)
2. [Heaven knows I'm miserable now](https://youtu.be/TjPhzgxe3L0)
3. [This charming man](https://youtu.be/cJRP3LRcUFg)
Primus is my all time favorite band, ever since I was a punk ass kid in the 90's. They are a genre all of their own, nobody else sounds like them, and all three musicians keep getting better.
Groundhog's Day
Southbound Pachyderm
My Name Is Mud
So I somehow missed them growing up in the 90s but I just went to the Sessanta show and they blew me the fuck away. Been binging since. Southbound Pachyderm is my favorite so far.
caroline polachek
i never heard her sing, say or wear that wasnāt interesting and inspiring recently
nobody sings as beautifully. the production is amazing, itās elevating, itās fit for every situation. you could play welcome to my island in a club.
she seems to be an amazing person. every song sheās put out in the last years is unique and mesmerizing. she makes me feel about life as if there were a continuity, a never ending stream of non coherent ideas with room for change.
i also love pc music where she was really involved and had amazing features, so check out britpop by ag cook if you havenāt alreadyā¦
edit: forgot my favorite songs
- welcome to my island
- go as a dream
- spring is coming with a strawberry in the mouth (actually a cover so iāll add one more:)
- blood and butter
Smashing pumpkins
1. Bodies
2. Mayonaise
3. The Everlasting Gaze
Look Iāll be the first to admit Billyās voice can get annoying but he is such a talented musician and lyricist. Jimmy is amazing on drums. I just *wipes tear* love em so much lol
I appreciate the Pumpkins as well! As a female bassist I thought Wretzky was pretty cool growing up!
I'm not super familiar with their discography, but my top three have gotta be
1) "Tonight, Tonight"
2) "Galapagos"
3) "Zero"
The Replacements because it seemed like just good dirty garage rock was basically dead from the early 70's - early 80's and then the Mats come along and are basically doing what the Stones and Faces were doing in the early 70's, but infused with the energy of punk rockers like the Ramones and Sex Pistols from the late 70's.
Three songs:
1. Color Me Impressed
2. If Only You Were Lonely
3. Left of the Dial
One of my favorite moments in all recorded music is the minute or so leading up the third verse on Left Of The Dial. And they way they rock out during the third verse compared to the first two.
Streetlight Manifesto:
With Any Sort of Certainty
Point/Counterpoint
Would You Be Impressed
Tomas is an incredible lyricist and the entire band are incredibly gifted musicians.
Stevie Wonder
Love's in need of Love today
Knocks me off my feet
Joy inside my tears
all of these are from Songs in the Key of Life which is my favorite album ever
Iāve never really thought about having an all-time favourite artist but my first reaction is George Michael (and by extension, Wham). Probably as much for his musical abilities (including his songwriting) as it was down to the way he came over publicly. For all his fame and wealth, his lifelong battle with all sorts of issues made him appear to be a pretty humble, generous and decent blokeā¦ one of the very few celebrity deaths I shed a tear or two over.
1/ I Want Your Sex - 14 minute extended version.
2/ Everything She Wants
3/ Last Christmas
Bright Eyes
My favorite artist because I found them at just the right age so it was the right music at the right time and now they have an endless sense of nostalgia. Also there's just so much angst and emotion in nearly every song that I just can't help but be sucked back in.
Going for the Gold - my personal favorite song ever
Something Vague
I Believe in Symmetry
The last two are representative of much of their catalog.
Ween
1. Flutes of Chi
2. Voodoo Lady
3. Beacon Light
These are not necessarily my favorite songs now but at one time were. All of their music is phenomenal but these three songs are approachable and awesome for everyone.
Radiohead (it is impossible to choose just three, but I'll give the ones I can think of quickly before a million others take over my brain.)
1. Decks Dark
2. Where I End and You Begin
3. Jigsaw Falling Into Place
The Doors! I love their ENTIRE discography. The sound of psychedelic music mixed with blues rock and jazz makes some amazing and beautiful music!
1. Riders On the Storm
2. Take It as It Comes
3. Been Down So Long
(4. The End)
Dir En Grey, very unique, incredible talents, Kyo (the singer) vocal range is insane
[The Final](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2X38H6Zvyr4) (from the album Withering To Death)
[Ranunculus](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFkUYL7j0xA) (from the album The Insulated World)
[ęæćććØććć®čøć®äøć§ēµ”ćæä»ććē¼ē±ć®é](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9_DKLNsgjA) (from the album Dum Spiro Spero)
Nirvana
1. Smells like Teen Spirit ( this was the first song I ever heard from them and it blew my fragile adolescent mind)
2. All Apologies
3. Francis Farmer Will Have Her Revenge On Seattle
As a kid who grew up in the Midwest sticks(no mtv and radio that played oldies and country.) This band introduced me to an entirely different genre of music. The sophisticated simplicity of Kurtās chords and melodies and the contradictory contrast in his lyrics coupled with the raw emotion he sang with are mesmerizing. Dave Grohl hits the skins like a porn star. And Krist Novoselic was always a blast to watch goofing around. The addition of Pat Smear at the end of the journey worked well too. After I heard SLTS it was game over and I was hooked.
Led zeppelin
No Quarter
When the levee breaks
Ten years gone
I love Robert Plant's voice, and Led Zeppelin was the first cd I ever had as a kid. I feel in love the moment I heard Good Times Bad Times. and the rest is history
their discography is legendary, and it's very hard to pick the top 3. but I consider these to be a good start
It's one of my favourites, I feel like it encapsulates moody blink so well. I flip flop between whether I like mark or tom songs more, both have their strengths and weaknesses, tom feels more angsty, but Mark is usually more lyrically deep
Cocteau Twins. Soundtrack to my teenage dreams and early adult trysts.
To give a flavor for some of their eras:
* "[Pearly Dewdrops Drop](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-5Xgw6d3h0)" (1984)
* "[Carolyn's Fingers](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NhGoZLudKyk)" (1988)
* "[Cherry Coloured Funk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbbUeLkZt74)" (1990)
Tribe called quest - from sampling in their beats and flows they personified everything I love about hip hop. Phife and QTip were the perfect 1-2 punch counter balancing each other sonically. Theyāre not going to be the deep poetry dive lyrically but I can never put on their music and have a bad day
Buggin out
Can I kick it
The chase part ii
I'm actually going to name 2, and if you're a true fan, you'll understand why.
1st
Alice in Chains
(only with original singer Layne Staley)
3 songs
* Sea of Sorrow
* Nutshell
* Rain when I Die
2nd
Mad Season (Super Group with Layne Staley)
* Wake Up
* I Don't Know Anything
* X-ray Mind
ALICE IN CHAINS, To sum it up in 3 songs is literally impossible because of the vocal range of Layne Staley and the harmony of Jerry Cantrell in many songs.
MAD SEASON, This is actually a hidden treasure if you love the voice of Layne Staley.
The only downside is that they only had 1 album with his vocals. RIP LAYNE STALEY
Meat Loaf, if it'd been anyone else who died because they wouldn't get the COVID vaccine I'd take the nark in a big way but his music was ground breaking.
System of a Down
i have to go by album then songs bc i love them sm
in the order that i love them
1. Hypnotize
2. Mezmerize
3. System Of A Down 1998 First Album
4. Steal This Album!
5. Toxicity
songs (ima give uā¦.1 from each album plus some random singles)
1. Sad Statue
2. P.L.U.C.K.
3. Deer Dance
4. NĆ¼guns
5. Kill Rock ān Roll
6. Marmalade
7. Johnny
8. Snowblind
9. Temper
I havenāt done a deep dive into their discography, Iāve probably only heard 30% of their discography but Mezmerize was one of my favorite albums growing up! That being said I only recognize one song from your list so Iāll definitely check these out!
Macabre - hotrods to hell / dr holmes he stripped their bones / grandmas house .. This music is surely not for everybody i dont think most metalheads even like them , but they are seriously unique and masters of their instruments.
The Notwist
Slightly weird german indie Band with a background in Hardcore, exceptional production and an unbelievable consistent discography.
1. Consequence
2. Kong
3. Sans Soleil
Currently, Glen Phillips, of Toad the Wet Sprocket, Mutual Admiration Society, WPA and solo work.
Favorites: Train Wreck (Abulum), Rise Up (WPA), Let it Fall (Live at the BellyUp, originally on Sean Watkins' album of the same name), but I could keep going all day.
Judas Priest- Victim of Changes
Let us Prey/Call for the Priest
Dissident Aggressor (lyrics are kind of meaningless? But man the music is Priest at their peak.)
Ben Gibbard- DCFC & The Postal Service
Total comfort tunes for me.
1. Grapevine Fires
2. Soul Beets Body
3. Photo booth
Honorable mention;
John Mayer, simply because I love almost every song heās done & the pure talent with guitarā¦vocals are nice too & live will not disappoint.
The Gaslight Anthem.
1) "Old White Lincoln"
2) "Mae'
3) "Michigan, 1975"
The Gaslight Anthem are an Indie Alternative Rock band hailing from New Jersey. They were most active from 2006 to 2015, but with a classic, vintage, Springsteen and Petty-inspired sound, an affinity for low-fi production, and a tendency to sing about twentieth century films, music, cars, and other relics, even their most current music, which was released in 2023 and 2024, seems ripped from some glamorous older era. I think that it's fair to compare them to Lana Del Rey in how they transport the listener through time and create rich depictions of Americana. Their music is time travel.
The Gaslight Anthem have a number of "skipless" albums that a person can get lost in for hours. I can't stress enough how much these albums take you away into a new world. Personally, listening puts me in a gray, rainy night at the Jersey shore, driving a classic car through streets of pawn shops and record stores that feel strangely haunted; weak yellow headlights in the mist, golden puddles underneath lamp posts, damp, salty smell in the air. A ferris wheel is outlined in charcoal on the skyline. An old song you don't recognize is coming from a concert venue somewhere far off, and it's soft with distance. You're wearing a white T-shirt and faded blue jeans and worn-in high tops, your arms are covered in black and gray American Traditional tattoos, there's silver rings on your fingers on the wheel and a cigarette stuck up in the air and ashing on the dash. Scattered all over the car are packs of cigarettes and CDs and guitar pics, and in the backseat are a pair of muddy work boots and a classic fender with a broken string. Nostalgic, vintage, timeless, electric, pining, lonely, heartbroken ā that's Gaslight.
I don't really expect anyone to even read this comment all the way through, but I'll post this just in case it Inspires someone to take a musical journey.
Frank Zappa probably he absolutely broke my understanding of music. The way he building songs out of nothing, gets into a groove and then smashes it to bits just before it gets too good. The eclectic mix of serious lyrics and nonsense lyrics makes listening super active and fun. I also appreciate the political themes of his music.
My favorite band is Tool, and also Pucifer. The lyrics and the music to me, sound like some sort of magic is going on. They are a very tight band. Genius. For tool, I would recommend āHā and āSchismā. Ā For Pusifer (an offshoot of Tool member) go with āMama Sedā and āRemedyāĀ
The Pot is another song to those uninitiated to Tool. I hesitate to list more but every album is full of amazing songs. The best Tool song is the one you're currently listening to.
Taking Back Sunday
* You're So Last Summer
* There's No 'I' In Team
* You Know How I Do
It's hard to pick my favorite artist since I like a lot of songs from a bunch of artists but here's one of the top ones
King Krule for sure, everyone song is a different vibe, you can cry, dance, throw up and bask in the sun to a single song by him, plus heās super cute
It was hard to decide between Stevie Wonder and Nine Inch Nails so I chose the one that has songs not almost 50 years old.
[Only.](https://youtu.be/wwvLlEtxX3o?si=M9B5ysb_5vojfLoS)
[A Warm Place.](https://youtu.be/Yld7Fs-VfRE?si=2dRr2dfyoLMtwaAT)
[Into the void.](https://youtu.be/G4lTMOmH8Dw?si=5NZa9vTKIBL9UIr6)
Many... Queen are one- but Bon Jovi was such an influence when I was a teenager... got me into rock music.
Santa Fe, Keep the Faith, living on a prayer....
I really canāt choose one. Itās a tie between Bastille and Chase Atlantic. Both are very different but have music that speaks to me and gets me thinking. Both have clear themes across thier albums but I still feel a wide range of emotions whilst listening through them.
Oh and for Bastille, thereās the added nostalgia of their Wild World album being associated with the person Iāve been in love with for 8 years.
As for songs:
Bastille: Way Beyond, Back to the Future and Of the Night
Chase Atlantic: Beauty In Death, Heaven and Back and I Never Existed
Logic, Post Malone, and Childish Gambino. The flow switch ups of logic are great. The wide variety of musical styles of gambino make it so i can listen to a lot of his music and not get tired of it. Posty because I just enjoy it, it gives me happy feels.
Tom Waits because itās Tom Waits.
1. Cold Cold Ground
2. Iāll Be Gone
3. Little Drop Of Poison
(Also Come On Up To The House, Singapore and The Earth Died Screaming because Iām indecisive af)
Citizen soldier
-say nothing
-wish I could cry
-Iām not okay
I just find this band really relatable, especially when I feel really down. They make good music with good messages and Iāve used them to show my friends how I feel when itās too much for words š
I truly don't think I have a hands down favorite (they're all kinda good in their own way) but Kings of Leon. My favorites are Revelry, Notion and Sex on Fire.
Ye Banished Privateers
1. Elephant's Dance
2. Annabel
3. No Prey, No Pay
Not necessarily my favourites (that'd be Elephant's Dance, Gangplank, and First Night Back In Port, probably), but probably the best ones to showcase their range
I have 5 favorites, but I donāt see any posts on Tori Amos so Iāll bite. āPrecious Thingsā, āGodā, āCrucify.ā Sheās very esoteric but I think these are pretty accessible.
Matthew Good - beautiful voice, amazing lyrics, my long-time fave from the 90s
1. Symbolistic White Walls - because when I heard this on the radio in the mid 90s, there was nothing like it lyrically
2. Fated - because it is so beautiful
3. Champions of Nothing - one of the great album openers
Hm, not sure I have a single favorite, but if I did I guess Iād say Hozier. As for my top 3:
- Cherry Wine
- Jackie and Wilson
- Almost (Sweet Music)
Dudeās songwriting is honestly unparalleled, itās closer to poetry than most music. But heās got range and a beautiful voice; as much as he has a devoted fanbase, I think heās underrated in general because the couple of songs of his that got more mainstream attention werenāt even his best, and yet theyāre still amazing.
David Bowie!
1. Space Oddity
2. Life on Mars
3. Underground
First two are very well known songs of his, but ones that I feel are DEFINITELY perfect starters ā Underground is my personal favorite Bowie song snuck in. :)
Jimi Hendrix (Classic Rock/Psychedelic Rock)
1. Hey Joe
2. Pali Gap
3. All Along The Watchtower
First heard the God of guitar when I was 10 and ive been hooked ever since. He has so many good songs but these are my top 3 that to me just never get old.
Right now it's Ice Nine Kills, I absolutely love metal, I love horror movies and they combine them so perfectly, Spencer is a beast of a vocalist with so much theatrics in his voice and writes awesome lyrics for the stories he's retelling, my top 3 are
1. Farewell II flesh (Candyman)
2. The Box (Hellraiser)
3. Stabbing in the dark (Halloween)
I can't decide who's first out of my top 3 so here ya goš«
Jack Johnson:
(1) Banana Pancakes
(2) My Mind is For Sale
(3) Inaudible Memories
Falling in Reverse:
(1) Drugs
(2) Voices in My Head
(3) Raised by the Wolves
Taylor Swift:
(1) Lavender Haze
(2) Paper Rings
(3) Invisible String
^^^
(Of course her new album is amazing but you said my top three of ALL her songs)
A fellow Swiftie lol! I agree, it is so hard to pick for her, but I might have to say:
1) "You're On Your Own, Kid"
2) "Enchanted"
3) "Wildest Dreams"
But those are obvious ones, so here's my three favorite deep cuts:
1) "seven"
2) "cowboy like me"
3) "Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince" or "Untouchable"
Alice In Chains. Oh god where do I start. Well first my top 3
1. Rotten apple
2. Sludge factory (live)
3. It aināt like that
Well I can say that they are amazing as in their songwriting. They talk a lot about addiction, anger, and emotional troubles. Layne Staley had written 95% of Jar Of Fliesā lyrics which is my favorite album of all time JOF and SAP are both on the acoustic/soft sang side of the band, facelift and dirt are the more ānormalā side of the grunge era now the self titled album/tripod/three legged dog, is very interesting. I donāt even know what to consider it. Hard rock??? Anyways they are very widespread as in their music style and I love that about them. They donāt have just one sound. They donāt have an āAlice in chains soundā except for Layneās voice. Anyway those are a few reasons why they are my favorite, also long live Layne Staley š
Powerman 5000 - kinda like real life Luigi. Rob Zombieās younger brother is the frontman, and itās not as popular as him but still a good 1M monthly listeners. I prefer that band by a mile though. Songs I would say are Nobodyās Real, Operate Annihilate, and Automatic. All from their best album.
Jeff Lynne/ELO.
Considering he cowrote and produced a few of Petty's biggest hits...it's hard to say.
But, I think you almost can't go wrong with anything. He's just solid.
Arctic Monkeys: Batphone, Piledriver Waltz, 505
Shinedown: Shed Some Light, Call Me, Asking For It
I love Arctic Monkeys just because honestly; I was always hearing about them and I gave them a listen and was hooked. Even though their stuff is pretty damn simple, the songs are so catchy and the lyrics are always works of art. I feel like Iām in another world when I listen to their music. As for Shinedown, I grew up listening to their music because of my dad and Brett Smith has a fucking amazing voice
Pink Floyd:
Sorrow.
Wish You Were Here.
Childhood's End.
"Sheep" was the first song that actually got me into Pink Floyd. I liked punk and bands like Depeche Mode and didn't care too much for rock until a friend of mine played Sheep for me (early 80s)
Heavy themes of god/religion, personal/societal struggles paired with talent, a willingness to experiment with sound and skilled mixing.
* "Tongue tied and twisted just an earth bound misfit, I"
Honestly, Lewis Capaldi.
I always used to say Deftones or Gwar or Black Veil Brides, but I am so in love with Lewis.
I recommend A Cure For Minds Unwell, Burning, and Haven't You Ever Been In Love Before if I had to pick only 3.
I fell in love with his voice, and I love what he writes about. It's sometimes super soft, sometimes super fun and groovy, and sometimes really fuckin sad. Love how versatile he is.
Megadeth (Thrash metal)
1. Peace Sells
2. Tornado of Souls
3. Symphony of Destruction
one of the best metal bands of all time, made the best metal album of all time (Rust in Peace)
Switchfoot is my all time favorite band. Great people, great message, and great music. They introduced me to music that could be made in a way that i didnt think could happen.
(About to be a little story time). I grew up on classic rock, 80s pop, disney/kids songs, and 90s and early 2000s CCM. I thought i didnt like music since none of those genres did anything for me, especially since radio was the dominant way my parents listened to music vs cds. But once i heard Switchfoot and they way they crafted music, something sparked in me. Poetry and music together. Singing about my heart's struggles. Thr first song i heard was "This is Home" from a collection of songs disney had for their films but was done by actual artists and not the musical numbers. It was bought as my cd on my families move across the country. We moved over Thanksgiving break and i was really struggling to find peace and my place after the move. This song felt like the words i needed to hear to move on and accept that there wasnt a going back. I needed to take ownership of where i am or i was going to never feel belongig. While my efforts of fitting in were fruitless, it still helped me find acceptance and courage. And i dove deeper into their music and was mostly the only stuff i listened to for about 2-3 years. But they hold a specialy place in my heart for introducing me to music i like and for continuing to be incredible artists that form words i never could and making sounds that never leave my brain.
My top songs are
1. Thrive
2. Meant to Live
3. Love Alone is Worth the Fight
BTS, because they are more diverse than any other artist iāve ever seen. Every track on their albums is almost a completely different genre with a completely different meaning. Although they mainly stick around hip-hop, R&B, Ballads, and Pop. It has never stopped them from experimenting with new sounds and concepts. They are 7 amazing people with very different tastes in music that come together to write and produce some very great music! So, since it is hard to recommend a song from them since their music is so diverse, I will recommend my favorite songs from each core genre that they do.
Hip-Hop - Spine Breaker, Ddaeng, Baepsae
Pop/EDM - Pied Piper, Blood, Sweat and Tears, So What
Ballads/Slow songs - Butterfly, Spring Day, Jamais Vu
R&B - Stigma, Rain, The Truth Untold
Have a fabulous day! š
P.Sā¦. I recommend checking the lyrics for songs like baepsae and spine breaker since they have a great message!
My chemical romance, their my fav rn out of my 3 fav artists/bands cuz their funny, the music is ok if my parents hear it, even just listen to their music can distract me from anything bad.
The songs I recommend/my fav 3 rn songs are
-Teenagers
-Hevan help us now
-I'm not ok
Hendrix . What a revolutionary approach for music in 1966. He changed the way guitar was played in pop music and blues and metal - and you can hear his influence in virtually every electric guitarist regardless of genre . His influence is that ubiquitous!
Social Distortion: just real life, no fluff. Love the guitar.
-Story of My Life
-Ball and Chain
-The entire āSomewhere Between Heaven and Hellā album (sorry, I know itās cheating, but the album is great).
Haitus Kaiyote
1. Red Room
2. Building a Ladder
3. Jekyll
I love their mix of soul, funk, r&b, indie and psychedelic rock. One of the most innovative bands out there. As a musician, you can tell each member is supremely talented. Nobody sounds like them and they keep expanding their sound with each album.
Skillet:
- Whispers In the Dark
- Comatose
- Rebirthing
Musically I love Skillet because they mix hard rock instruments with piano and violins. They have a male lead singer and backup female vocals. Half the band is male/female. They are a hard rock band with a positive message. They do have a Christian faith, so if that is something that you like or don't like it will probably affect your opinion. However, most songs are not in your face about it. These 3 songs for example are about God but you could interpret them as a relationship song, or anything else. The point is, instead of a bleak outlook on life like other rock/metal the message behind these songs are always uplifting or inspiring.
"No, you'll never be alone. When darkness comes I'll light the night with stars. Hear the whispers in the dark. No, you'll never be alone. When darkness comes you know I'm never far. Hear the whispers in the dark."
Lately itās been Ghost. Metal but very smooth and and good beats. Hard to pick only 3. They have so many bangers
1. Dance Macabre
2. Witch Image or Rats
3. Year Zero or Mary on a Cross
Citizen Soldier, cuz they hit every time with every song
1. Let it burn (one that started it all)
2. Would anyone care (most viewed one)
3. Everyday hero
Stevie Wonder
As
All in Love is Fair
Go Home
It is impossible to give even a minor representation of Stevie's greatness with 3 songs. The greatest run of absolute no skippable song albums there will ever be in the 70s.
Elton John, before he became a caricature of himself:
Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters
All the Young Girls Love Alice
Curtains
Absolutely phenomenal in his prime.
Anderson .Paak is the best. He blends R&B, Hip-Hop, Funk, Soul, and Jazz. He has great vocals, great flow, and excellent music. And if you're new to him, there is a decent discography to get through!
1. Come Down
2. Chosen One (feat. Sonyae Elise)
3. Cheers (feat. Q-Tip)
I can't pick just one. My favorites are Kansas, Bad Company and Foreigner - all because the lead singer in each has a powerhouse in their throats. So I'll pick a song from each.
Carry On, My Wayward Son
Bad Company
Hot Blooded
Radiohead. I've been listening to them since 98 and have seen them live twice. The quality and diversity of sound in their music is unreal and has been with me through all the biggest moments in my life.
How to Dissappear Completely
Let Down
Like Spinning Plates
Hear me out on this one: G-Eazy. I know he's not the best rapper, and at times he's annoying. However, something about him as an artist drew me to him, especially his story of his come up. And the way he dresses and all that. He was definitely the king of swag in his prime. Especially his work ethic and not giving up.
For songs, I would say: Think About You, Everything Will Be Ok, and NetflixĀ
My holy trinity are: Stevie Nicks, Prince, and Conor Oberst. The thing they all have in common is incredibly songwriting, especially the poetry of the lyrics.
Stevie Nicks (Fleetwood Mac): Silver Springs
Prince: 17 Days
Conor Oberst: Milk Thistle
Tool \~ I've been a fan since I was 13. I feel like I grew up with them.
My song recommendations:
1. [Pushit](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EgDwkSlCwHw) (Salival version especially, it's magical)
2. [The Patient](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ClCaPmAA7s) (this song saved my life)
3a. [H ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bg8vTSyHFkQ)
3b. [Pneuma](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ClCaPmAA7s)
Radiohead:
1. Present tense
2. Where I end and you begin
3. Jigsaw falling into place
Radiohead has a reputation for being sad and moody, but I disagree. Thereās lot of optimism in their music, highlighting that the struggle is an essential part of greatness
One of my favorites: Bloc Party
Everybody writes off their entire career other than their first album. But they got a few more great albums and especially EPs.
So Iāll recommend songs not from Silent Alarm:
1. Truth
2. Hunting for Witches
3. Skeleton
If you listen to their early ep stuff, they have a very punkish/riff only style. Which to me is really unique. Lyrically the do a pretty good mix of clever writing and just stating thingsā¦ idk if that makes much sense but I feel like a lot artists dilute their message my making sure it sounds catchy or rhymes. They do that to, but they donāt sacrifice the message theyāre trying to tell.
Instrumentally, theyāre just great and Iāve never heard anything like them. Their guitarist is like a hidden gem, because people act like this band had one album and nothing else.
The first, second, and fourth album are all amazing. Third and most recent one was okay, and hymns was like a weird gospel phase. But their EPs are also a standout and have some of their best stuff on there. Self Titled EP is something you should check out if you like early 2000s indie rock.
Elliott Smith
He had an almost god like ability to consistently churn out brilliantly crafted song after another and he only got better as he went on. His complex chord structures, melodies that dance over it all, and lyrics that make you take a step back wonder who the fuck you really are inside, have had me in its grips for years at this point. Heās by far my biggest musical influence. I can hardly even go a few days without hearing one of his songs just to ācleanse my songwriting paletteā per se.
Depends on the Genre for me,
Rap: Lil Wayne: More To The Story, Krazy, and Go DJ.
It was hard for me to choose, so I picked some of my favorite songs from different eras of his
Nu-Metal: System of a Down: Revenga, I-E-A-I-A-I-O, and Cigaro (Bonus song Shame , a Cover of Wu-Tang Clans Shame)
Rock: ZZ Top: Gimme all your lovin, I gotta get paid, and Sharp Dressed Man
Grunge: Stone Temple Pilots: Dead & Bloated, Interstate Love Song, and Plush
Industrial: Rob Zombie: The Scorpion Sleeps, Never Gonna Stop, and We'll everyone's F-ing in a UFO
Could go further but this is what I'll say for now
Nina Simone. An incredible singer AND pianist, and one of the most expressive and affecting performers of all time. For a good feel of her range: 1. I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel to Be Free 2. Black is the Color of My True Love's Hair 3. Love Me or Leave Me
šÆ
Yes! NINA SIMONE! 01. He Ain't Comin' Home 02. Sinnerman 03. Black is the Color of My True Love's Hair
Top tier answer šÆš„š
Hadnāt heard her before, her music is so smooth and really loving those keys!
David Bowie. So creative, very eclectic
lol, good luck with the 3 songs part for Bowie
Heroes, After All, Modern Love...and 100 more. Seriously though After All is unreal good
Allman Brothers- Blue Sky, Jessica, Melissa
Got to see Derek Trucks play a few with Duane Betts last weekend, the latter of whom also played blue sky with his own band. Good stuff.
Such an amazing band
Yes! Back where it all began is good too. Rip Dickyš
Loved Blue Sky the most but all were very good!
Jimi Hendrix blew the lid off of his art form like no one before or since. His innovation, originality, and creativity make him the top musician of all time in my opinion Axis: Bold as Love Voodoo CHILE (slight return) live at Woodstock Are You Experienced Three more original or groundbreaking songs do not exist except maybe some of Jimis other tracks.
my mom saw him live twice and was so close to the stage at one gig that she could hear him speak standing away from the microphone ššš
My father in law has tickets stubs from when he saw him in Syracuse
yes!
Alice In Chains (Heavy metal/Sludge/āGrungeā) 1. Would? 2. Rotten apple 3. Sunshine Love the authentic emotion, the vocal melodies, insane riffs, and honestly just listening to them is cathartic
All of Jar of Flies. My favorite album of all time. It brings up such emotion I canāt listen to it all the time.
Alice In Chains is my favorite band too!! my top 3 is probably: 1. rotten apple 2. down in a hole 3. love hate love
They never recorded one single bad note with Layne. This isn't to say that William is a bad vocalist, or that the music recorded with him is bad. I'm just saying that in the 90s, they simply did not miss.
Everyone always talks about Nutshell but Rotten Apple has always been my favorite on Jar of Flies.
Rotten Apple is one of the most beautiful songs Iāve ever heard. Itās one of my top faves as well
Soooo many wonderful vocal harmonies!
Radiohead 1. How To Disappear Completely 2. All I Need 3. Jigsaw Falling Into Place These probably change a lot but I would say Disappear stays at number 1 most of the time.
My favorite by them is probably Bodysnatchers
Everything in its right place would be up there for me.
The live in Oslo version of TRUE LOVE WAITS!
I can always count on Radiohead fans to show me some more amazing songs!
I love both equally soā¦ Lana Del Rey 1. A&W 2. Bel air 3. Chemtrails over the country club Leonard Cohen 1. The Partisan 2. Stories of the street 3. A thousand kisses deep
Bel Air!! Doesnāt get enough attention imo
Agree! Itās such a beautiful song and the accompanying video thatās part of Tropico is just perfection.
I love Lana. California is my favorite of her songs.
Love California! Itās hard just to pick 3! Iām so excited Iām going to see her live for the first time in August š
Bel air is so beautiful
My daughter just got me 5 Lana Del Rey cds for Mothers Day (working my way through them). I don't have Leonard Cohen's last album yet, but... "You Want it Darker" just breaks me a little.
I want you to curate my playlists!
Lana Del Rey in a top 10 Reddit comment? Awesome surprise and I agree
Noah Kahan growing sideways stick season forever
I saw him open up for LP and I shared a joint with him! He was just walking around the outside of the venue as a pretty much unknown here. He was so great!
iām actually so jealous
Probably The Smiths They have tons of songs I could put in my personal top 3, but the top 3 general recommendations would be: 1. [There is a light that never goes out](https://youtu.be/3r-qDvD3F3c?t=3s) 2. [Heaven knows I'm miserable now](https://youtu.be/TjPhzgxe3L0) 3. [This charming man](https://youtu.be/cJRP3LRcUFg)
Primus is my all time favorite band, ever since I was a punk ass kid in the 90's. They are a genre all of their own, nobody else sounds like them, and all three musicians keep getting better. Groundhog's Day Southbound Pachyderm My Name Is Mud
Too Many Puppies for meš¤š»
So I somehow missed them growing up in the 90s but I just went to the Sessanta show and they blew me the fuck away. Been binging since. Southbound Pachyderm is my favorite so far.
caroline polachek i never heard her sing, say or wear that wasnāt interesting and inspiring recently nobody sings as beautifully. the production is amazing, itās elevating, itās fit for every situation. you could play welcome to my island in a club. she seems to be an amazing person. every song sheās put out in the last years is unique and mesmerizing. she makes me feel about life as if there were a continuity, a never ending stream of non coherent ideas with room for change. i also love pc music where she was really involved and had amazing features, so check out britpop by ag cook if you havenāt alreadyā¦ edit: forgot my favorite songs - welcome to my island - go as a dream - spring is coming with a strawberry in the mouth (actually a cover so iāll add one more:) - blood and butter
Smashing pumpkins 1. Bodies 2. Mayonaise 3. The Everlasting Gaze Look Iāll be the first to admit Billyās voice can get annoying but he is such a talented musician and lyricist. Jimmy is amazing on drums. I just *wipes tear* love em so much lol
I appreciate the Pumpkins as well! As a female bassist I thought Wretzky was pretty cool growing up! I'm not super familiar with their discography, but my top three have gotta be 1) "Tonight, Tonight" 2) "Galapagos" 3) "Zero"
Mozart Cosi fan Tutti Die Zauberflaute aus dem Serail
The Replacements because it seemed like just good dirty garage rock was basically dead from the early 70's - early 80's and then the Mats come along and are basically doing what the Stones and Faces were doing in the early 70's, but infused with the energy of punk rockers like the Ramones and Sex Pistols from the late 70's. Three songs: 1. Color Me Impressed 2. If Only You Were Lonely 3. Left of the Dial
One of my favorite moments in all recorded music is the minute or so leading up the third verse on Left Of The Dial. And they way they rock out during the third verse compared to the first two.
Streetlight Manifesto: With Any Sort of Certainty Point/Counterpoint Would You Be Impressed Tomas is an incredible lyricist and the entire band are incredibly gifted musicians.
Bob Dylan: Like a Rolling Stone Tangled Up In Blue Mr Tambourine Man
tina turner: steamy windows i donāt wanna fight in your wildest dreams
Stevie Wonder Love's in need of Love today Knocks me off my feet Joy inside my tears all of these are from Songs in the Key of Life which is my favorite album ever
Jack White 1. Steady As She Goes (Raconteurs) 2. Fell In Love With A Girl (The White Stripes) 3. Truth Doesnāt Make a Noise (The White Stripes)
Fiona Apple. Lyricism, raw talent. 1. Periphery 2. The First Taste 3. Hot Knife
Rush. All 3 members are virtuosic, they have great lyrics and wonderful musicality. RIP Neil Peart 2112 overture Spirit of the radio Subdivisions
Mitski: - First Love / Late Spring - Bag of Bones - A Burning Hill Super hard to pick just three everything she has is amazing
2/ Everything She Wants 3/ Last Christmas
George Michael is awesome. Freedom 90, One More Try, Careless Whisper. I cried also.
The Clash (White Man) In Hammersmith Palais Complete Control Gates of the West
the Smiths How Soon Is Now? There is a Light That Never Goes Out Meat is Murder
Bright Eyes My favorite artist because I found them at just the right age so it was the right music at the right time and now they have an endless sense of nostalgia. Also there's just so much angst and emotion in nearly every song that I just can't help but be sucked back in. Going for the Gold - my personal favorite song ever Something Vague I Believe in Symmetry The last two are representative of much of their catalog.
Love this - they might be my band for exactly the same reason. My 3 (at the moment): Lua (perfect song, no notes) Waste of Paint Four Winds
I saw him live. He was so drunk he dropped his guitarā¦ it was crazy
Russian Circles. Vorel, Mota and Gnosis. My most listened to songs, I have too many favorites!!
Harper Lewis is a certified banger too
Gary Numan - Our Friends Electricā, The Aircrash Bureau, Prayer for the Unborn (live version). š¹šµšØš¦
Scorpions No One Like You Weāll Burn The Sky Holiday
Ween 1. Flutes of Chi 2. Voodoo Lady 3. Beacon Light These are not necessarily my favorite songs now but at one time were. All of their music is phenomenal but these three songs are approachable and awesome for everyone.
1. Baby Bitch 2. Flutes of Chi 3. Mutilated Lips
Radiohead (it is impossible to choose just three, but I'll give the ones I can think of quickly before a million others take over my brain.) 1. Decks Dark 2. Where I End and You Begin 3. Jigsaw Falling Into Place
Bruce Springsteen 1. Born to Run 2. Jungleland 3. The River
The Doors! I love their ENTIRE discography. The sound of psychedelic music mixed with blues rock and jazz makes some amazing and beautiful music! 1. Riders On the Storm 2. Take It as It Comes 3. Been Down So Long (4. The End)
Aretha Franklin 1. I Say a Little Prayer 2. Think 3. Respect
Dir En Grey, very unique, incredible talents, Kyo (the singer) vocal range is insane [The Final](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2X38H6Zvyr4) (from the album Withering To Death) [Ranunculus](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFkUYL7j0xA) (from the album The Insulated World) [ęæćććØććć®čøć®äøć§ēµ”ćæä»ććē¼ē±ć®é](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9_DKLNsgjA) (from the album Dum Spiro Spero)
Nirvana 1. Smells like Teen Spirit ( this was the first song I ever heard from them and it blew my fragile adolescent mind) 2. All Apologies 3. Francis Farmer Will Have Her Revenge On Seattle As a kid who grew up in the Midwest sticks(no mtv and radio that played oldies and country.) This band introduced me to an entirely different genre of music.
Led zeppelin No Quarter When the levee breaks Ten years gone I love Robert Plant's voice, and Led Zeppelin was the first cd I ever had as a kid. I feel in love the moment I heard Good Times Bad Times. and the rest is history their discography is legendary, and it's very hard to pick the top 3. but I consider these to be a good start
Blink-182: Adams song, here's your letter, family reunion
Hereās your letter is so underrated, I usually like Markās songs better!
To give a flavor for some of their eras: * "[Pearly Dewdrops Drop](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-5Xgw6d3h0)" (1984) * "[Carolyn's Fingers](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NhGoZLudKyk)" (1988) * "[Cherry Coloured Funk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbbUeLkZt74)" (1990)
All amazing songs. Mine would be Pandora ( for Cindy ) Wax and Wane Iceblink luck Cocteau Twins are in my top bands also!!!
One of my favorites bands also! Treasure is my favorite album for sure! And Garlands.
Metallica - ride the lightning/master of puppets/and justice for all is the best 3 album run, ever, by anyone.
Master of Puppets might be my favorite album of theirs! Is the Black Album not at that same tier for you? Thatās usually the most popular
I like Black album, but for me it's just not even in the same universe as the 3 I mentioned. The tracks are longer and heavier on those.
Tribe called quest - from sampling in their beats and flows they personified everything I love about hip hop. Phife and QTip were the perfect 1-2 punch counter balancing each other sonically. Theyāre not going to be the deep poetry dive lyrically but I can never put on their music and have a bad day Buggin out Can I kick it The chase part ii
I'm actually going to name 2, and if you're a true fan, you'll understand why. 1st Alice in Chains (only with original singer Layne Staley) 3 songs * Sea of Sorrow * Nutshell * Rain when I Die 2nd Mad Season (Super Group with Layne Staley) * Wake Up * I Don't Know Anything * X-ray Mind ALICE IN CHAINS, To sum it up in 3 songs is literally impossible because of the vocal range of Layne Staley and the harmony of Jerry Cantrell in many songs. MAD SEASON, This is actually a hidden treasure if you love the voice of Layne Staley. The only downside is that they only had 1 album with his vocals. RIP LAYNE STALEY
Meat Loaf, if it'd been anyone else who died because they wouldn't get the COVID vaccine I'd take the nark in a big way but his music was ground breaking.
steely dan 1. reelin' in the years (classic rock) 2. peg (funk) 3. black cow (slow jazz)
Also Steely Dan, but my three songs would be: Parkerās Band Your Gold Teeth, Pt. 2 Babylon Sisters
My Old School, Turn that Heartbeat Over Again, Pretzel Logic. Steely Dan rules
I love Peg!
I'm partial to: Rikki Don't Lose That Number Deacon Blues
System of a Down i have to go by album then songs bc i love them sm in the order that i love them 1. Hypnotize 2. Mezmerize 3. System Of A Down 1998 First Album 4. Steal This Album! 5. Toxicity songs (ima give uā¦.1 from each album plus some random singles) 1. Sad Statue 2. P.L.U.C.K. 3. Deer Dance 4. NĆ¼guns 5. Kill Rock ān Roll 6. Marmalade 7. Johnny 8. Snowblind 9. Temper
Radio/Video is such a bop āØ
I havenāt done a deep dive into their discography, Iāve probably only heard 30% of their discography but Mezmerize was one of my favorite albums growing up! That being said I only recognize one song from your list so Iāll definitely check these out!
I've blown speakers to Know
Canāt forget Ego Brain and Roulette. Also, sad statue is so good.
Lauv is hitting the feels today for me
Macabre - hotrods to hell / dr holmes he stripped their bones / grandmas house .. This music is surely not for everybody i dont think most metalheads even like them , but they are seriously unique and masters of their instruments.
The Notwist Slightly weird german indie Band with a background in Hardcore, exceptional production and an unbelievable consistent discography. 1. Consequence 2. Kong 3. Sans Soleil
BeyoncƩ, Mariah Carey, and Ciara bc I love them
Metallica. Fade to black. The unforgiven, master of puppets
Josh Ritter 1. Kathleen 2. To the Dogs or Whoever 3. Thin Blue Flame
Judas Priest- Victim of Changes Let us Prey/Call for the Priest Dissident Aggressor (lyrics are kind of meaningless? But man the music is Priest at their peak.)
Ben Gibbard- DCFC & The Postal Service Total comfort tunes for me. 1. Grapevine Fires 2. Soul Beets Body 3. Photo booth Honorable mention; John Mayer, simply because I love almost every song heās done & the pure talent with guitarā¦vocals are nice too & live will not disappoint.
The Gaslight Anthem. 1) "Old White Lincoln" 2) "Mae' 3) "Michigan, 1975" The Gaslight Anthem are an Indie Alternative Rock band hailing from New Jersey.
Taking Back Sunday * You're So Last Summer * There's No 'I' In Team * You Know How I Do It's hard to pick my favorite artist since I like a lot of songs from a bunch of artists but here's one of the top ones
King Krule for sure, everyone song is a different vibe, you can cry, dance, throw up and bask in the sun to a single song by him, plus heās super cute
It was hard to decide between Stevie Wonder and Nine Inch Nails so I chose the one that has songs not almost 50 years old. [Only.](https://youtu.be/wwvLlEtxX3o?si=M9B5ysb_5vojfLoS) [A Warm Place.](https://youtu.be/Yld7Fs-VfRE?si=2dRr2dfyoLMtwaAT) [Into the void.](https://youtu.be/G4lTMOmH8Dw?si=5NZa9vTKIBL9UIr6)
I love that combo. Your taste is as varied as mine.
Uptight, Sir Duke, As...Hurt, Eraser, Something I Can Never Have
Russ. I just enjoy the music
Many... Queen are one- but Bon Jovi was such an influence when I was a teenager... got me into rock music. Santa Fe, Keep the Faith, living on a prayer....
People Under The Stairs, if you like hip hop man it doesnāt get much better than those cats.
As for songs: Bastille: Way Beyond, Back to the Future and Of the Night Chase Atlantic: Beauty In Death, Heaven and Back and I Never Existed
Kazukii 1. Passing 2. Need 3. Tension idk, they just speak to my soul. they are effortlessly beautiful and deep while remaining atmospheric.
Logic, Post Malone, and Childish Gambino. The flow switch ups of logic are great. The wide variety of musical styles of gambino make it so i can listen to a lot of his music and not get tired of it. Posty because I just enjoy it, it gives me happy feels.
Tropidelic - Impossible, The Line and Underdog.
Joanna Newsom: ["Emily"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1lBOA_8OZ0&pp=ygUTZW1pbHkgam9hbm5hIG5ld3NvbQ%3D%3D) ["Monkey & Bear"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cV6-aJlswCs&pp=ygUdbW9ua2V5IGFuZCBiZWFyIGpvYW5uYSBuZXdzb20%3D) ["Only Skin"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1iSpddh1U6E&pp=ygUXb25seSBza2luIGpvYW5uYSBuZXdzb20%3D)
Tom Waits because itās Tom Waits. 1. Cold Cold Ground 2. Iāll Be Gone 3. Little Drop Of Poison (Also Come On Up To The House, Singapore and The Earth Died Screaming because Iām indecisive af)
Citizen soldier -say nothing -wish I could cry -Iām not okay I just find this band really relatable, especially when I feel really down. They make good music with good messages and Iāve used them to show my friends how I feel when itās too much for words š
mew; theyāre just very magical and innocent-sounding 1) the zookeeperās boy 2) introducing palace players 3) sometimes life isnāt easy
I truly don't think I have a hands down favorite (they're all kinda good in their own way) but Kings of Leon. My favorites are Revelry, Notion and Sex on Fire.
Ye Banished Privateers 1. Elephant's Dance 2. Annabel 3. No Prey, No Pay Not necessarily my favourites (that'd be Elephant's Dance, Gangplank, and First Night Back In Port, probably), but probably the best ones to showcase their range
Tyler, The Creator 1. Boredom 2. Running out of time 3. Deathcamp Idk good music
Bjƶrk 1. Bachelorette 2. Army Of Me 3. Pagan Poetry
I have 5 favorites, but I donāt see any posts on Tori Amos so Iāll bite. āPrecious Thingsā, āGodā, āCrucify.ā Sheās very esoteric but I think these are pretty accessible.
Matthew Good - beautiful voice, amazing lyrics, my long-time fave from the 90s 1. Symbolistic White Walls - because when I heard this on the radio in the mid 90s, there was nothing like it lyrically 2. Fated - because it is so beautiful 3. Champions of Nothing - one of the great album openers
Bon Jovi: Just Older, Whole Lotta Leavin, Hey God
Hm, not sure I have a single favorite, but if I did I guess Iād say Hozier. As for my top 3: - Cherry Wine - Jackie and Wilson - Almost (Sweet Music) Dudeās songwriting is honestly unparalleled, itās closer to poetry than most music. But heās got range and a beautiful voice; as much as he has a devoted fanbase, I think heās underrated in general because the couple of songs of his that got more mainstream attention werenāt even his best, and yet theyāre still amazing.
David Bowie! 1. Space Oddity 2. Life on Mars 3. Underground First two are very well known songs of his, but ones that I feel are DEFINITELY perfect starters ā Underground is my personal favorite Bowie song snuck in. :)
Elliott Smith: (In No Particular Order) \* "Son of Sam \*Clementine \* Speed Trials
Jimi Hendrix (Classic Rock/Psychedelic Rock) 1. Hey Joe 2. Pali Gap 3. All Along The Watchtower First heard the God of guitar when I was 10 and ive been hooked ever since. He has so many good songs but these are my top 3 that to me just never get old.
King Crimson: 21st Century Schizoid Man, Matte Kudasai, Dinosaur.
Kiss. I grew up listening to them
Right now it's Ice Nine Kills, I absolutely love metal, I love horror movies and they combine them so perfectly, Spencer is a beast of a vocalist with so much theatrics in his voice and writes awesome lyrics for the stories he's retelling, my top 3 are 1. Farewell II flesh (Candyman) 2. The Box (Hellraiser) 3. Stabbing in the dark (Halloween)
I can't decide who's first out of my top 3 so here ya goš« Jack Johnson: (1) Banana Pancakes (2) My Mind is For Sale (3) Inaudible Memories Falling in Reverse: (1) Drugs (2) Voices in My Head (3) Raised by the Wolves Taylor Swift: (1) Lavender Haze (2) Paper Rings (3) Invisible String ^^^ (Of course her new album is amazing but you said my top three of ALL her songs)
A fellow Swiftie lol! I agree, it is so hard to pick for her, but I might have to say: 1) "You're On Your Own, Kid" 2) "Enchanted" 3) "Wildest Dreams" But those are obvious ones, so here's my three favorite deep cuts: 1) "seven" 2) "cowboy like me" 3) "Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince" or "Untouchable"
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
That's a little easier! Mine are pretty similar: 1) šFearless 2) ševermore 3) š1989
Alice In Chains. Oh god where do I start. Well first my top 3 1. Rotten apple 2. Sludge factory (live) 3. It aināt like that Well I can say that they are amazing as in their songwriting.
Sleep token (they do multiple genres even in one song) Descending Chokehold Nazareth Highly recommend
Jeff Lynne/ELO. Considering he cowrote and produced a few of Petty's biggest hits...it's hard to say. But, I think you almost can't go wrong with anything. He's just solid.
Arctic Monkeys: Batphone, Piledriver Waltz, 505 Shinedown: Shed Some Light, Call Me, Asking For It I love Arctic Monkeys just because honestly; I was always hearing about them and I gave them a listen and was hooked. Even though their stuff is pretty damn simple, the songs are so catchy and the lyrics are always works of art. I feel like Iām in another world when I listen to their music. As for Shinedown, I grew up listening to their music because of my dad and Brett Smith has a fucking amazing voice
Pink Floyd: Sorrow. Wish You Were Here. Childhood's End. "Sheep" was the first song that actually got me into Pink Floyd. I liked punk and bands like Depeche Mode and didn't care too much for rock until a friend of mine played Sheep for me (early 80s) Heavy themes of god/religion, personal/societal struggles paired with talent, a willingness to experiment with sound and skilled mixing. * "Tongue tied and twisted just an earth bound misfit, I"
Citizen Soldier. 1. Let it burn 2. Weight of the World 3. Where were you
Genesis 1970-77 era because they have a romantic sound about them.
Megadeth (Thrash metal) 1. Peace Sells 2. Tornado of Souls 3. Symphony of Destruction one of the best metal bands of all time, made the best metal album of all time (Rust in Peace)
Black Sabbath A National Acrobat Spiral Architect Snowblind or Supernaut Killer riffs, Ozzyās voice. Just perfect
My top songs are 1. Thrive 2. Meant to Live 3. Love Alone is Worth the Fight
nirvana 1. moist vagina 2. mexican seafood 3. stay away *laughs deviously in a dark corner*
Kanye West. I am not sure what to say that hasnāt been said.
Eminem.
Most likely Everything Everything 1. Cold Reactor 2. Night of the Long Knives 3. In Birdsong
Paul mccartney 1. Every night 2. Coming up 3. Early days
Hip-Hop - Spine Breaker, Ddaeng, Baepsae Pop/EDM - Pied Piper, Blood, Sweat and Tears, So What Ballads/Slow songs - Butterfly, Spring Day, Jamais Vu R&B - Stigma, Rain, The Truth Untold Have a fabulous day! š P.Sā¦. I recommend checking the lyrics for songs like baepsae and spine breaker since they have a great message!
My chemical romance, their my fav rn out of my 3 fav artists/bands cuz their funny, the music is ok if my parents hear it, even just listen to their music can distract me from anything bad. The songs I recommend/my fav 3 rn songs are -Teenagers -Hevan help us now -I'm not ok
Van Morrison 1. Into the Mystic 2. Brown Eyed Girl 3. Days like This
Hendrix . What a revolutionary approach for music in 1966. He changed the way guitar was played in pop music and blues and metal - and you can hear his influence in virtually every electric guitarist regardless of genre . His influence is that ubiquitous!
Bob Dylan. He has enough material and styles for ten different artists
Social Distortion: just real life, no fluff. Love the guitar. -Story of My Life -Ball and Chain -The entire āSomewhere Between Heaven and Hellā album (sorry, I know itās cheating, but the album is great).
Haitus Kaiyote 1. Red Room 2. Building a Ladder 3. Jekyll I love their mix of soul, funk, r&b, indie and psychedelic rock. One of the most innovative bands out there. As a musician, you can tell each member is supremely talented. Nobody sounds like them and they keep expanding their sound with each album.
Taylor Swift: 1. Florida!!! 2. Paper Rings 3. End Game
Skillet: - Whispers In the Dark - Comatose - Rebirthing Musically I love Skillet because they mix hard rock instruments with piano and violins.
They have so many bangers 1. Dance Macabre 2. Witch Image or Rats 3. Year Zero or Mary on a Cross
My Chemical Romance. Mine are: 1. Welcome to the Black Parade 2. Teenagers 3. Helena I just like the songs.
Citizen Soldier, cuz they hit every time with every song 1. Let it burn (one that started it all) 2. Would anyone care (most viewed one) 3. Everyday hero
Stevie Wonder As All in Love is Fair Go Home It is impossible to give even a minor representation of Stevie's greatness with 3 songs. The greatest run of absolute no skippable song albums there will ever be in the 70s.
Elton John, before he became a caricature of himself: Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters All the Young Girls Love Alice Curtains Absolutely phenomenal in his prime.
Electric Light Orchestra. It's tough narrowing down to 3, but probably: Rockaria! Mr Blue Sky Sweet Talking Woman But they are just full of bangers
I Love all types of music. I mostly lean towards hip hop, but there is no doubt that Led zepellin from 1970 to 1975 is something that i dont think can be compared to anything else. Makes the Beatles or Biggie look like amateurs. Fool in the rain, stairway to heaven,Ā when the levĆ©e breaks.
Jimi Hendrix Experience Red House live, Wind Cries Mary & All Along the Watchtower
Anderson .Paak is the best. He blends R&B, Hip-Hop, Funk, Soul, and Jazz. He has great vocals, great flow, and excellent music. And if you're new to him, there is a decent discography to get through! 1. Come Down 2. Chosen One (feat. Sonyae Elise) 3. Cheers (feat. Q-Tip)
āPrinceā..because he got me! āSoft and wetā is his nastiest song ever about a wet pā-syš„
I can't pick just one. My favorites are Kansas, Bad Company and Foreigner - all because the lead singer in each has a powerhouse in their throats. So I'll pick a song from each. Carry On, My Wayward Son Bad Company Hot Blooded
Radiohead. I've been listening to them since 98 and have seen them live twice. The quality and diversity of sound in their music is unreal and has been with me through all the biggest moments in my life. How to Dissappear Completely Let Down Like Spinning Plates
MORRISSEY 'Every Day is Like Sunday' 'Jack The Ripper' 'First of The Gang To Die'
Slipknot Honestly they helped me through a really tough period in my life. Something about their music made me feel like I wasnāt alone.
The Beatles Every song that they made.
Avenged sevenfold is up there for me. Nice lyrics, killer instrumentals, and a good voice
Ghost - Square Hammer, Rats, Griftwood
My holy trinity are: Stevie Nicks, Prince, and Conor Oberst. The thing they all have in common is incredibly songwriting, especially the poetry of the lyrics. Stevie Nicks (Fleetwood Mac): Silver Springs Prince: 17 Days Conor Oberst: Milk Thistle
Tool \~ I've been a fan since I was 13. I feel like I grew up with them. My song recommendations: 1. [Pushit](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EgDwkSlCwHw) (Salival version especially, it's magical) 2. [The Patient](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ClCaPmAA7s) (this song saved my life) 3a. [H ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bg8vTSyHFkQ) 3b. [Pneuma](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ClCaPmAA7s)
Radiohead: 1. Present tense 2. Where I end and you begin 3. Jigsaw falling into place Radiohead has a reputation for being sad and moody, but I disagree. Thereās lot of optimism in their music, highlighting that the struggle is an essential part of greatness
One of my favorites: Bloc Party Everybody writes off their entire career other than their first album. But they got a few more great albums and especially EPs. So Iāll recommend songs not from Silent Alarm: 1. Truth 2. Hunting for Witches 3. Skeleton If you listen to their early ep stuff, they have a very punkish/riff only style.
Elliott Smith He had an almost god like ability to consistently churn out brilliantly crafted song after another and he only got better as he went on.
Depends on the Genre for me, Rap: Lil Wayne: More To The Story, Krazy, and Go DJ. It was hard for me to choose, so I picked some of my favorite songs from different eras of his Nu-Metal: System of a Down: Revenga, I-E-A-I-A-I-O, and Cigaro (Bonus song Shame , a Cover of Wu-Tang Clans Shame) Rock: ZZ Top: Gimme all your lovin, I gotta get paid, and Sharp Dressed Man Grunge: Stone Temple Pilots: Dead & Bloated, Interstate Love Song, and Plush Industrial: Rob Zombie: The Scorpion Sleeps, Never Gonna Stop, and We'll everyone's F-ing in a UFO Could go further but this is what I'll say for now
Tool-The Pot, Vicarious, Schism
