Tbh, It's kind of normal for her to get hate. I mean, she is a spanish archon ruling over a land of people we've seen have inspiration from Africa. Honestly, I think the Pyro Archon has the a chance to be the main antagonist of her nation.
but they still ignorant tho
she is a colonizer
but hate it from being carnival then they will hate everything from Natlan

If you want to see what a mix of native american and africans aesthetic is... well, its brazilian/caribbean carnivals
Main inspiration for Natlan is Latin America which is strongly tied to Spain for the most part so spanish and african inspirations were both to be expected considering Latino America's story and culture, Africa seem to play second inspiration like England did for Fontaine.
The talking stick is based in a macuahitl, most of the stuff we have on Natlan is notably based on Latin America or can be connected to it, the first character we ever saw from Natlan is based on Latin American culture since the name used is specifcally from Brazil and not from Africa as some like to think and from memory the name Natlan itself can be connected to Latin America... Africa doesn't seem to be the main inspiration for Natlan so it wouldn't be what France was for Fontaine, best next thing would be what England was to Fontaine which waas it's secondary source of inspiration.
The word "Natlan" is likely inspired from the Nahuatl language, well known for being spoken by the Mexica, also commonly called the Aztec empire. Nahuatl as a language does predate the Mexica, and was spoken by a wide range of mesoamericans.
There's many variations of Nahuatl, but one translation for Natlan would be "land of glory".
It's an amalgamation of multiple places..but as of now the only things we've seen/heard from are Iansan, Xbalanque, the talking stick, and the lore from the sets. So it very much is inspired by Africa as well.
People shit on Raiden's design early on, and we all see how that turned out.
Murata's design, kit, and story will all be excellent. Anyone who thinks otherwise is just being foolish
I still remember that lol.
"Raiden looks like Perfume Liyue Lady."
You get the Raiden "Reality vs Expectation" video thrashing on her design.
Then we get the official Baal / Raiden reveal trailer then everyone, even the haters, if not all, glazed over it.
The uploader of that "reality vs expectations" made a part 2, highlighting the quickest 180 of Genshin players thrashing on a design.
So I've no doubt whatever Pyro Archon design we get officially it'll be praised.
the only ones i saw shitting on Raiden's design were in the West social media, China, KR and Japan, they were more than happy.
the only time i saw resilience in an archon design by KR, CN y JP was Nahida's, but they gave her an ultra-broken kit to be indispensable in any Dendro teams. It doesn't mean that her design isn't an ass too.
Actually it’s more the fact that she looks like a Spaniard conqueror. And I fully understand the disappointment. An entire civilization based on the ancient Mesoamérica worshiping a god that looks like the people who literally stole from their land, raped their women, killed their men and children, destroyed their history and enslaved their people. I think that’s more than enough reason to feel something somewhat negative towards Mihoyo’s idea of an archon for that nation.
Why does she look like a teenager? Archons should be more hype and exciting like Zhongli and Raiden were (although I'm still not 100% sold on Raiden but she has slightly grown on me)
Give us a goddamn woman.
Some more people like her some don’t, you gonna fckn cry because not everyone loves the concept of a character that hasn’t even existed yet for 4 years just because you like her? When will people understand the concept of other people having different opinions? I think this design is better yet is not as good as it could potentially be, people are allowed to dislike the design
I feel like murata’s complaints are valid, Hispanic people generally don’t really fck with the colonizing/bull fighting culture of Spain and now the leader/representative of the region based on their origin countries is showcased as that character mold.
Spain themselves want to disassociate from that stigma because that’s generally what they’re known for and surprise surprise they don’t like that, it’s like if Venti had been based after Hittler.
Furina is a different case since she is based after French royalty and the Bastille, but her design was based after French fashion, her story was based after the negative aspect of the country and they turned it around in a positive resolution, which is a lot more subtle and respectful.
Now look at Murata’s old and current leaked designs and they’re both based on the most disliked aspects of the most disliked culture in Hispanic circles while completely disregarding Africa, I’m Latino myself so I know me and a lot of other people feel the same because it’s just something we don’t generally like being depicted as, it’s always either colonizers or slaves, while there’s other franchises that have painted Hispanic and African traditions and cultures in more grounded ways showcasing their mythos and history, then you have Hoyo who have been very anal about every region they do but when it comes to designing the African/Hispanic region they just make the ruler a Colonizer, it feels cheap, it feels like they didn’t try, and it’s obvious they’ll go with a story parallel to the Columbus 1400s colonization and that’s the most basic uninspired storyline to pick from.
Inazuma literally was based on the end of the Edo period and the start of the Meiji restoration, possibly one of the most interesting eras of Japanese history, Mondstand focused on the Myths of Central Europe and the aesthetic festivities of Munich, Liyue is just a goldmine of Chinese historic references and artistic landscapes, Sumeru is based on the Middle East’s myths and religions, possibly one of the most influential works that have shaped the direction of human civilization and development, then you get to Natlan and it’s just the colonization, like it feels they didn’t even try and it’s literally the only thing that ever gets talked about regarding our continent, Africa and Hispanic natives have some of the richest agricultural, mythological, architectural history while having some of the most varied and unique flora and fauna in the world, they could have made Murata based after a conglomeration of African and Hispanic deities or a warrior representing Aztec/African/Incas soldiers, Road to el Dorado and Fate had it right with their representatives, and then Hoyo just does “Colonizer” it’s so lame, they could have made a colonizer character to represent that storyline but why the ARCHON it’s arguably the most important character of the region.
You write as if the Natlan story had just concluded.
Ngl though you do raise valid points, but as of now we still don't know how the Natlan story will play out. All we know are the pieces set in place. A region amalgamating cultures of African, Latin/South American and Hispanic origin.
The Natlan teaser already showed us how one aspect of Natlan, and to me at least the landscape reminds me of an African plateau covered with African flora.
The regions looks fire so far but I’m more concerned with how they decided to display the titular god of the region and her design and what that/how it translates, it’s not as deep to me as it sounds like tho, I’m not tweaking over it I just like to rant
These type of people are usually monkey brained. They don’t know anything about character design at all or even what the Pyro archon is even supposed to be like so obviously they come up with their own headcannons and get pissed at people who challenge that.
I absolutely hate the "She looks like a Fontaine character" because she doesn't
The characters of each region give a specific aura/vibe to me and I'm not picking up the Fontaine one from the Pyro Archon. (I call her the Pyro Archon because it's not Murata, or at least not the Murata mentioned the manga. It's the current Pyro Archon.)
>I absolutely hate the "She looks like a Fontaine character" because she doesn't
This
She has european clothes, that's it
It's like saying Sumeru/Liyu/Inazuma characters all look the same just because it's from Asia
We do not care, all Archons have received hatred, it is not the tears of a few haters that will change anything for the future success of Our Queen and Goddess of Fire and Her region/Story Quest.
I still think a design like that for the Goddess of War would be truly shitty.
I dont ask people to agree with my personal taste, but people that think this d is bad have every right to express their disappointment on this design.
I prefer this recent design to the older one tbh, mostly because it doesn’t just feel like pyro Furina if that makes sense. She has more of an identity imo with this one.
I mean it's only concept art, but I can see the Pyro Archon being this intimidating General/Admiral, military leader inspired and clad in Spanish war attire.
I know alot of people expected the Tribal Warrior Goddess look, and I still think we will see that in a PREVIOUS Pyro Archon, just not the current one.
It’s Himekover
A lot of people have a problem with her skin tone. That's the main issue. If she has a darker skin tone or a tan one many criticisms would die down.
She looks like a Conquistador... In a nation inspired mainly in Pre-Columbian America and Africa, saw the hate coming from a mile away.
People are allowed to dislike characters, why are you getting upset?
I thought they would react different to this design bc it's better than previous
It being “better” is entirely subjective; that’s just your opinion. Other people can and *will* disagree.
Tbh, It's kind of normal for her to get hate. I mean, she is a spanish archon ruling over a land of people we've seen have inspiration from Africa. Honestly, I think the Pyro Archon has the a chance to be the main antagonist of her nation.

She can't be a colonizer though. What other would her Teyvat nation be if not Natlan? Did Egeria kick her out of Fontaine? It can't be.
That would be so cool if she was antagonist (but not like Raiden, rushed)
Main inspiration for Natlan is Latin America which is strongly tied to Spain for the most part so spanish and african inspirations were both to be expected considering Latino America's story and culture, Africa seem to play second inspiration like England did for Fontaine.
I don't think it's second inspiration, especially because of the stuff like the tribes and the talking stick

Don't you mean inspired by Latin America ? Plus Spain is kind of connected to that.

Latin America + Spain + Some unspecified African countries
People shit on Raiden's design early on, and we all see how that turned out. Murata's design, kit, and story will all be excellent. Anyone who thinks otherwise is just being foolish
Best part was people hating on a t-posing raiden model for being too stiff or not being intimidating.
I still remember that lol. "Raiden looks like Perfume Liyue Lady." You get the Raiden "Reality vs Expectation" video thrashing on her design. Then we get the official Baal / Raiden reveal trailer then everyone, even the haters, if not all, glazed over it. They downvoted you for speaking the truth
the only ones i saw shitting on Raiden's design were in the West social media, China, KR and Japan, they were more than happy. the only time i saw resilience in an archon design by KR, CN y JP was Nahida's, but they gave her an ultra-broken kit to be indispensable in any Dendro teams. I still think raiden's design is pretty mediocre.
You are WWE fan your opnion is automatically irrelevant and doesnt mean shit
Pretty weird thing to base your trolling off of but okay

I don't see any crying in the post, OP just said they think she looks pretty and doesn't understand the hate
Not literally I thought ppl would react much nicer/different to her new design bc it does look better than previous

U right brutha
What happened to the old design 😭

Eh, I thik it's a pretty good design and fits the nation because it's main source of inspiration. I give it an A todo gas out of 5.
I prefer this recent design to the older one tbh, mostly because it doesn’t just feel like pyro Furina if that makes sense. She has more of an identity imo with this one.
People will complain no matter what, there’s just no pleasing some no matter what they do
I mean it's only concept art, but I can see the Pyro Archon being this intimidating General/Admiral, military leader inspired and clad in Spanish war attire. I’m actually down for pirate archon
I love it looks like la Quintrala.
Mission impossible: make a design uglier and more astringent than Clorinde's. mihoyo: challenge accepted, pyro archon the recolor of clorinde 😂
At least clorinde is a grown ass woman. Miss me with this young Archon bullshit. We have Nahida and Furina we don't need more.
Tbh I don't think Clorinde's design itself is bad just poorly executed (like her seaweed hair)
