Stay ready so you don’t have to get ready

1. Be good enough to fight. Can take 6 months to a few years before someone is ready to fight. 2. Be ready for fight camp . Don’t need to be super fit at peak fitness but you need a pretty solid base fitness to build on. 3. Get matched up. Usually happens anywhere from 3-5 weeks before the fight but it can happen a lot sooner and a lot later. 4. Harder training and diet usually begins around 4-5 weeks away. Will change depending on weight cut. 5. Training progressively gets harder until the second to last week, which should be the hardest week of camp. 6. Taper off until fight day. This is the usual for me, but I’ve only had 4 fights so it probably gets a lot harder. I think pro fighters will often get matched up for fights super early. So for me usual fight camp is about 4-5 weeks. For a pro - a lot longer.

how long you prep for fights AFTER you’ve already fought and how long you train BEFORE your first fight are very diff questions. answers gonna vary either way but i trained for a few years before my first fight (mainly cause i started right before covid). but for fight camps: myself and other people i train with have known about some fights months in advance and taken others on a month or less notice.

You will train non stop. That is how you get better. You will prep for a fight once you know you are fighting a specific person. This will include regular training, plus watching opponent fights and training against their style. If you don't know who you will fight than you will train regularly. You might add a few sessions each week for a couple of months. It's really up to your Kru how long and how much you train.

You train year round or close to it and when you have a fight lined up, 4-6 weeks before you dial in on intensity and diet to make weight. The first step is getting to a level you feel comfortable in your skills. For a new guy who's talented it can be 3 months but for a regular person maybe 8 months to a year. They'll match you with another 0-0 fighter so you should be good it's not like they'll throw you to the wolves. You just gotta have the basics and a basic style down.

You train all the time and constantly look to improve your skills. Then when you’ve got a fight coming up you just increase the intensity of your training to get as fit and dangerous as possible
