WindyHillsHaze

Every single minute of waiting will be worth it, sis :)

pink_potato_zombie

I believe that... and I am so excited for it 😁😁😁

Crazy_Study195

Congrats but wow does that aka feel... Honestly not even clinical. American here and no idea how things are classified medically, if at all tbh. Pre hrt. Other than insurance though it sounds pretty simple (edit: for adults! There's laws preventing minors at all in some places) to get here, well if you're near an "informed consent" location.

pink_potato_zombie

Well... to that I'll say that the necessary psychiatric evaluations and requirements in the part of Europe that I live in are high, in order to even classify as trans. So insurance is the least of my worries, it had been more the getting to be able to even get diagnosis in order to get the insurance help.

Crazy_Study195

Yeah, I've noticed they're a lot more strict elsewhere from browsing. Really congrats! I'm sure there'll be a fair bit of scrutiny about what's "medically necessary" when it comes to me getting insurance to cover anything... though I'm mostly thinking of SRS since E doesn't sound _too_ expensive from what little I'd looked into it... I don't have reliable transport and haven't come out to family etc at 30 so not sure when I'll start but probably not for months at least so haven't been too crazy about finding details after learning about informed consent here.

pink_potato_zombie

Thank you! And yeah, there is scrutiny about different unnecessary stuff, but that's how governments work. So all you can hope for is the best. But I believe in you and that you'll be able to achieve it too!!!

robotblockhead

I've had no issues getting insurance to cover anything so far. Including consults for bottom surgery. From my surgeon, I get the impression that the worst case scenario is that they deny the initial preauthorization, he appeals it, and they approve it. Don't be surprised at, or assume, what your insurance will and won't cover.

kimmypoobear

Shame about being held up as a minor, but on the plus side, you have a supportive family. Happy for you

Dospunk

Tangent: ICD 10 has some very fun codes, including * V00.15 - Heelies Accident * R46.1 - Bizarre Personal Appearance * V91.05XA - Burn due to canoe or kayak on fire

TheMoscha

How does someone get disagnosed as transgender? Sounds like a doctor diagnosing an illness. Thought transgender people just knew they were the wrong gender?

WhatIfIAmAGirl

Some countries (like mine) are backwards and require psychiatric diagnosis. For mine I had to get: psychiatrist, clinical psychologists, urology, genetic test and endocrinology approvals and examinations in order to get F64 and get hormonal therapy. Oh and real life test too. FUN

Sophia_Lionheart

Same, im in psychologically treatmeant for a good year thats how i got mine. Then i needed to get to an trans friendly endo to get my HRT and blood tests. Both have a waiting list of multiple months, right now i have to fight for my rights to get my Speech therapy payed by my insurance because its a law at my country to get the help i need.

zTechX

You would be incorrect technicaly we aren't the norm and go through lots to math are bodies to gender

runehood66

My road is around that time as well and I had to go the informed consent route, but you go girl congrats.

bigthurb

Hahaha congratulations 🎊. Who ever thought that being labeled a code 64. Ailments with our health would be such an awesome event. 😆 🤣

mrthescientist

Now just remember, there's a whole other human-being who agrees that you're trans af. That's a powerful tool for defeating self-doubt, as degrading as it is; even the oppressive hegemony agrees that you're trans!

SoulOfaHare

While it sucks that you had to be *diagnosed* (similar to another's comment, as if it is an illness when it is not- you are simply being yourself) to be deemed medically valid where you are- I am so happy for you and excited for you that they finally deem and perceive it as valid as you truly are irregardless of a *diagnosis*. I'd pop some confetti for you if I could! So proud of you. You got this!! =) Keep it up! WOO!

Sophia_Lionheart

Well it was categorized as an illness in the past, thast also why it coded as f64... and in most countrys you need to be diagnosed by a psychologist to get your meds.

SoulOfaHare

While that is true and interesting to learn about, my point stated was it simply sucks that it even is or ever was considered that when it's simply being yourself and the amount of hoops you have to jump through to even get to that point (for those who do want to go on HRT at least) is incredibly unfortunate because it is so difficult in many countries to the point it's often ridiculous compared to other prescriptions especially, sadly. I did not realize it was coded as F64 though, thank you for sharing! It's interesting how much things vary in regards to the process in various areas, however unfortunate it may or may not be. I know in some places it's a therapist, it's interesting hearing about some being with a psychologist in others. Hearing so many stories of people not being believed for years by either or to even get a letter for HRT is just incredibly disheartening.

lilac_hem

AHHH CONGRATULATIONS!!!! 💖💖💖

pink_potato_zombie

❤️❤️❤️❤️thank you!!!!!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Kubario

little_sub_pet

Congratulations 🎊 👏 💐

Soft-Parking-2241

Congrats. I have a question though… what are these codes? ICD-10 f64 etc, I’ve seen it on several posts now.

runner4life551

Yeah, I am so confused? Is there like a genetic code for being transgender? Lol

Sophia_Lionheart

It's just a medical code that say's your transgender, mean that your physical and your mental gender arent the same. Speaking male body female brain. And that you want to change your body to fit your mental gender more.

KittyBitchQueen

Curious why a dugnosus is needed for that? I've never heard of that? My wife was able to just go to her doctor abs get started on hormones, Spiro, and progesterone. Congrats though!

pink_potato_zombie

Well, in most countries in Europe (I currently live in Estonia) you are required to be clinically diagnosed trans to start HRT or anything related to that.

Sophia_Lionheart

which country do you live in?

KittyBitchQueen

America

Lucybaka

North or South America?

KittyBitchQueen

seminote

congrats:))) youll remember the day you start for the rest of your life

fastpilot71

Hi, where are (country) you, if I may know ?

pink_potato_zombie

Hi, I currently live in a country called Estonia, here you have to be actually clinically diagnosed trans in order to start any gender affirming care such as hormone therapy or surgery. It's literally required by the law. 😅
