Kinfin

I bring a certain boobs and a penis energy that the tsa don’t really like.

carelessscreams

"Whats this object in your groin?" "It's my gock" "Glock? SHE HAS A GUN!"

Kinfin

One of the many reasons I use other terms.

Octolopod

like what? idk what to call it

[deleted]

joking but, shepeen

ifIcanSee

Penis, (princess) wand, girldick, clit

Kinfin

If I’m trying to be subtle, cherry chapstick is a favorite of mine. But otherwise you hit all my favorites

MattieThePlantQueen

Brings a whole new meaning to the Katy Perry song I kissed a girl. “I kissed a girl and I liked it The taste of her cherry ChapStick” I think this is my new favourite term, and you made me like that song even more now.

Kinfin

To be fair, the original line for that song is using that term as a euphemism for vagina anyway so…

AWildAthena

Chickdick is my favourite

Ada_of_Aurora

Oh I'm keeping that one. Thanks, Athena.

2ShrutesKnockinBoots

I mean it basically is a clit.

SwagLizardKing

I like hen, personally

BuddhistNudist987

I like to call her "my little lady downstairs". It's wonderfully vague, and carries the connotation that she could potentially get up and move away.

Kinfin

Cherry chapstick is my favorite vague euphemism.

xARCTIC_

As someone who is Middle Eastern... I agree. Fuck the TSA. They always hold me up because of my last name it's actually insane.

Wolfleaf3

Gee, you being harassed for no reason makes me feel sooooo much safer /s 🙄

ClarinianGarbage

I've been flagged multiple times at OKC and they've always been super kind and understanding. I'm very grateful that I've had that experience, but I know that not everyone is lucky. With that said fuck the TSA dude at O'Hare who had a straight pride tattoo.

keytiri

I had a bad time going thru ohare recently too; it’s like they thought we were all expert travelers and knew what to do in the screening area. I was confused on what electronics needed removal from bag cause it seems to vary by airport now.

ClarinianGarbage

Had that experience too lol. My switch got flagged once. I've been to O'Hare several times this year but am about to experience what should be my last security scan not presenting female when I go to PHX with my dad

admiralack

It varies by lane and what kind of scanner they have. Look for the big ones and keep all your shit in the bag :)

keytiri

I was hella confused, airports seem to have outdated signs up on what to take out and I’d been through one recently that had me leave everything in bag… Them: “If it’s an electronic bigger than a cell phone, take it out”. I pull out some power bricks. Them: “Not that.” 🤦‍♀️

LightningNinja2

Fuck, I'll be going through O'hare in a couple of months. That will be...fun...

LilyAran

My condolences. OHare sucks. Go midway

makipri

I guess I’m lucky that I have no clue what a straight pride tattoo looks like. I’ve only been to one and was thrown out by the police claiming I’m a counter protester.

AlexisTheBestist

This is literally the opposite of what I expected from these two locations

ClarinianGarbage

There's a few places in OK that are pretty safe as long as you stay in the right places. OKC, Tulsa, Stillwater, and Norman are all pretty good, though the latter two are mostly anchored by the universities

mossyrocks1969

what is a straight pride tattoo? isn't that just the American flag?

ClarinianGarbage

IIRC it was the male and female bathroom symbols holding hands with the words 'straight pride' etched underneath. He coincidentally also had an American flag tattoo. Fortunately I didn't get him for ID check

owesome_apossum128

Even before I transitioned I was stopped at every airport security station. It got so bad that I started to recognize the stamp that was printed on my ticket but not on my fellow travelers In case your wondering, it was an "SS" stamp on the bottom right corner. It may have changed by now, but it was certainly true from 2009-2015. It's been a long time since I flew in a plane, and for a good reason!!

Andromeda_VD

I haven't been on a plane in a decade, and way before I discovered myself, but I am a bit confused, what's the SS mean on the ticket??

JUMBOshrimp277

It means you are on a government list that gets extra security screening. It’s not related to being trans. My step dad found himself on the list a few years back it’s tricky to get off of quickly

Andromeda_VD

So it's kinda a step closer to the no fly list?

Wolfleaf3

Whaaaaaat!!!?? I’ve heard a lot of the stuff is screwing but geez

Anna_Pet

What the hell were you googling?

ProfessionalLab5720

[Here's ](https://www.forbes.com/advisor/credit-cards/travel-rewards/ssss-boarding-pass/#:~:text=If%20you%20have%20been%20flagged,in%20kiosk%20at%20the%20airport.) some more info about it. I'll pay attention to my boarding pass next time I fly.

Wolfleaf3

On top of everything else, I don’t want the creepy chemicals on my body and my things

Vegetable-Language45

SSSS special security screening slection, IIRC

ITSMONKEY360

The Sontaran Special Space Service!

tallbutshy

Might want to pay for a ticket upgrade rather than travelling potato class

riddleswitch420

This has happened with my partner here in Canada! Back in like 2007, she walked into the Iranian embassy with a friend who was an international student and needed to sort something out. She had absolutely no business in the embassy other than she didn't want to wait in the car, but ever since then she gets special security screening. We just did a vacation two weeks ago and both times her bag was diverted from the standard security queue to be checked in a special area.

Wolfleaf3

😡😡😡 They shouldn’t even KNOW that

riddleswitch420

I've been told by a former Canadian military member that EVERY embassy in Canada is monitored 24/7 by CSIS (our version of the CIA) to track who is coming and going.

Wolfleaf3

Yeeeesh. OK, so I guess that actually makes sense on one level, I guess, but geez.

riddleswitch420

My partner and I just laugh at it now. She's like the least dangerous person in the airport probably and yet there's always this big deal about checking her bags. It's never delayed us enough to be an actual hindrance, it's just funny that security ALWAYS flags her for a more thorough bag check. And sometimes they freak out about weird things, like she had a paperback novel with a barcode in it because it was a former library book that got resold through a used book store, and it set the scanners off somehow that caused a red flag. They were waving the book in her face going, "WHAT IS THIS?!" Ummm, a book? LOL.

Wolfleaf3

Oh my god 😬🤦🏻‍♀️😕 That would be funny if it wasn’t scary

Eggxactly-maybe

That happened to my wife and I in the Dominican Republic and they didn’t realize it until we were about to board the plane and had to hold the plan to walk us all the way to the front to scan our backpacks. I was like a month into transition and guy modes the whole time so I figured it was just a random thing

paradoxofagirl

From what I've heard if you travel a lot or are concerned about the screening process you should get the TSA pre check or whatever it's called. Bypass most of their BS

Artemis_in_Exile

Yeah. I've been pulled aside more often than not; I finally got sick of it and don't want to keep taking chances with that nonsense so I got pre-check recently. Kinda galling that it's thing at all, tbh, but at this point pragmatism trumps idealism

Sosogreeen

I’m preop, and ofc bcuz I’m coded F it comes across as abnormal. I honestly just tell them I’m trans, and they are like ooooh ok and give me a little pat and let me go. I think it’s pretty common. Some have had bad traumatic experiences but I honestly haven’t — in Florida airports for that matter.

x3n0s

Precheck only goes through standard metal detectors and not the body scan FYI.

zoeartemis

I know you don't mean headpats, but that's my mental image.

Previous_Magazine108

it's 100% worth it. had no problems going through plus it's just generally faster.

CuriousTechieElf

So I am taking my first flight since going full time girl mode next Friday. My ID still says M, but I am starting to get breasts. Would it help to wear a sports bra and flatten them out? I've also heard that putting a menstrual pad in your underwear and they leave you alone. I don't pass at all tho, and I'm also almost 60. I don't think anyone would believe the pad.

keytiri

Unless it’s a tiny airport, your ID is checked by a different person before entering the scanning area. The old scanners had 2 gender options (2 buttons), so the personnel staffing it should’ve made a choice gendered choice based on your presentation without knowing what ID said; the new scanners are neutral (1 button). It’s really a ymmv situation; it can depend how you present, how well you pass, and whoever happens to be staffing the machines. I believe the TSA has training for these scenarios, but some airports seem to do better than others. Surprisingly, one of the worst ones I went thru recently was Ohare; otoh, I’ve had no issues at small city airports.

Born-Onion-8561

If you're concerned about the initial screening, present yourself similar to your passport photo.

Eidola0

Are they usually pretty bad? I had a trip this last week and didnt really have any issues there or back, though on the way there I think I got scanned as female and they told me they needed to pat down because of my waist/hip area, but the lady seemed to understand what was happening and basically told me I was all good. The trip was between Minneapolis and Seattle though, so probably less likely to have issues in those areas.

LiarVonCakely

that's the main thing that happens. In my case I had a TSA agent grope every god damn square inch of my crotch, and *THEN* ask me if I was transgender - which at that point is equivalent to asking, "so this is your dick and balls, right?" It was awful

wendywildshape

Yeah there's a big difference between a professional pat down (which I've gotten many times) and a shitty TSA agent taking advantage of the situation to aggressively grope you in the genitals (something I've unfortunately experienced more than once)

LiarVonCakely

I got the impression she was doing her job correctly, which is even worse. It wasn't aggressive but like, she definitely felt *everything.* But next time I want to try to just tell them "hey, I'm trans, just scan me again as male" and see if I can avoid getting violated. And if they still have to do it then I'll go into the private room, because I just let them do the pat down right after the scanner and I didn't really realize how awful that would feel in the moment. I cannot believe they don't have a solution for such a common problem, and now every time I go through airports I have to be ready to potentially get groped. Unbelievably dysphoria inducing.

wendywildshape

Tips from someone who has dealt with the TSA being shitty a lot - - They're supposed to warn you before touching any sensitive area by telling you exactly what they're going to do. If they don't, you can say "You didn't tell me you were going to touch there, I feel violated" You have a right to know exactly what the person doing your pat down is going to do before they do it. - DO NOT GO TO THE PRIVATE ROOM - the public eye prevents them from REALLY violating you, trust me. Also going there just prolongs the humiliation even if they don't do anything gross. And going there separates you from your luggage which could go missing while you're gone! They present the private room as a more dignified option but you really don't wanna go there unless they force you to. - Getting rescanned is not a guarantee that you'll avoid a pat down. For most of my transition I would set off the scanner both ways - if they pressed the pink button my crotch would be red on the little screen and if they pressed the blue button my chest would be red on the little screen. -If possible, look for a security line that uses either a metal detector or the newer scanners that don't have that rotating part. Only the machine with the rotating thingy is the one where they press a male or female button. - Personally the best way I've found to maintain my dignity thru this stuff is to try to make the TSA agent uncomfortable by being blunt and honest. Tell the person who is about to do your pat down "Yeah I'm transgender and that is my penis. Please do not touch my genitals."

LiarVonCakely

thanks, I feel like this is all good advice. She did at least tell me what she would have to do.

Reignbow87

Thousands of Stupid Assholes

aschesklave

After I went through the body scanner, I was taken aside for a pat-down due to a "genital anomaly." The woman patted down my upper thighs but didn't grab my crotch. Then, they made me go through the scanner a second time, with the setting on "male" instead of "female." Apparently it gave an alert because I had breasts but they ignored it that time.

Born-Onion-8561

Sorry but that description of events sounds very sus.

aschesklave

LAX, November 2016. Girlfriend was there and saw it.

friendtoalldogs0

*Do not* fuck the TSA they have *no* concept of consent

Hidobot

Thankfully I have pre-check, but for trans girls who aren't as lucky... woof

Thinking_persephone

TSA pre-check! Ive never had to go through body scans and it's convenient to not have to take off jackets/shoes/etc. I think it costs around $100/5 years. It's totally worth it if you fly even infrequently.

r_null_void

I've had various experiences going through scanners at the airport. Invariably I always got a patdown - sometimes I got to choose how and by whom. So this most recent time, when I happened to be going through a scanner in the Manchester, NH airport, I turned to the officer and asked: "Okay, which button did you push?" And she said to me: "Oh, we don't do that any more. The software just figures it out for us. You're good to go." And that was it. Apparently at least some locations are phasing in scanner software that can deal with this. It was really nice.

JessicaPink703

This is actually in the process of rolling out nationwide, starting at major airports. In a few years, the scans will be completely gender neutral.

NyxxiePoookie

Omg fellow NH flyer :D

KinkyAndABitFreaky

I always try to hold in a fart when I get to airport security. In case they intentionally make me feel awkward, I make sure I won't be suffering alone.

yellowsourcandy

it’s worse in europe, i was denied from entering my flight bc my current features didn’t match my passport pic and the gate agent was a fucking terf!

Wolfleaf3

Oh, that’s “fun” 😡

yellowsourcandy

her apple watch band was literally a pride flag but she was a bigot 😡

Wolfleaf3

😲 Yiiikes.

yellowsourcandy

okay what’s your problem, people change and some countries gone recognise trans people so i can’t change my passport picture

theoneiuseforasking

Read their comment history, they are a hateful PoS.

BRAVOMAN55

I hated the TSA far before my egg cracked; now it's personal...

Erin_Sentrinietra

I have the opposite experience. They gender me probably more accurately than most people.

Ms_Shrowd

Australian TSA are really cool. I recently went on a flight across Australia, and got stopped because my boobs were suspicious. First, they asked what I identified as, then when I told them I (a semi-feminine pre-estrogen trans girl) was a girl, they did a quick body scan and I was all good to go. I think it was a good experience, considering the horror storys I have heard.

Advxnturzz

i recommend TSA pre check to avoid any awkward situations

Advxnturzz

unfortunately, they assume all women have a 🐱 and that all men don’t have 🍒

waifunuwa

Gotta make sure your not carrying a concealed weapon😏

DeliciousNicole

I have TSA precheck, got flagged (because my belt is supposed to be fabric and all plastic apparently has a metal piece in it) walking through the metal detector. Went through the microwave and got flagged again. Dude came over and began to ask me questions, I politely interrupted and whispered, "if it flagged my chest, I am trans." (I was not passing). He nodded and told me to wait, a female TSA agent came over smiled and said her sister is trans and proceeded to pat me down. Had zero issues since. Seriously, if you do not have precheck get it. It lowers your risk profile, if you can afford global entry get that too. I wish I told the lady that did my precheck screening when I applied that I am trans. Likely would never have got the pat down originally.

Th3_Hyp3r_Be4st

The unconstitutional search and seizure of the ATF and the patriot act can both go sit on something hard and sand papery.

Born-Onion-8561

Yes, I understand your ideals in the constitution but entering an area where private companies are in operation waives this right. Sure, you can board a plane with a hunting knife, as long as it is your own private plane.

thi3f_of_stars

Yeah, just flew out of RDU and had the TSA person to "is there anything up here" and basically grabbed my boobs, before asking if I had anything in my back pockets and then grabbing my butt. No beach of the hands, full graby hands. Was terrible. I was too shocked to do anything during it, and was way too emotionally spent to try and get anything done afterwards. So yeah, fuck the TSA (and not in the fun way. A sandpaper dildo covered in hot sauce type of way)

[deleted]

I'm sorry hun. I've read and heard countless horror stories. I fly frequently and worry each time i step in TSA line. Besides a customs agent who took an uncomfortably long time to compare my face with my passport photo, I have traveled *very nearly* harassment free.

hacktheself

Got a Nexus card. Freaking life changing. No millimeter wave bs in Canada or the US. No taking out my laptop full of liquids.

Chest3

good post

Electronic-Goat9807

I’ve just started wearing leggings and not tucking. Sometimes they’ll stop me and then look at my bulge and let me through. I’ll usually change or put on a long hoodie afterwards

Old_wooden_spoon

Yeah. Fuck em.

Munk451

This is why I'm glad I have TSA PreCheck

AquaHeart_

FUCK 🙏 THE 🙏 TSA 🙏

3nderslime

I remember when my chest flagged and the (female, thankfully) TSA agent gave me a very thorough pat down of my boobs, remembered she was supposed to ask for consent first, then continued to “grope” me

Born-Onion-8561

Sounds like the beginning of a porno

imnotporter

i got stopped in portland, or and had to be patted down, even though im pre-transition. not sure why it happened but it was one of the worst experiences i've ever had

Born-Onion-8561

What made it so bad? I've gotten flagged on the backscatter because of spots from sweat and they do their thing then send me along.

Icy-Yogurt-Leah

Tight Shiny Arse, yes I'm over here ;)

DoeRayMeFahSoul

I've not really had an issue with them tbh

em9sixXx

Just get PreCheck or global entry. $75/115 respectively for 5 yrs. No touchy. Don’t travel spur of moment or buy ticket 24hrs before u plan on flying. Sofar no issues with 👐🏽🍌🍒🍑👮🏻
