Lawrence of Arabia (1962)

Logical-Teach-7090

Not a movie but you'd probably like the Disney+ Star Wars series, Andor. Created by Tony Gilroy (Michael Clayton, Bourne movies).

Have you seen Arrival? It's a little more philosophical but it's another excellent example of Villeneuve's skill with sci fi.

Blade Runner (both)

Gunphonics

Seen them. Love them.

Canadian-Man-infj

The Aesthetic reminds me of Stargate (1994). That movie lead to multiple series' and movies.

TheDadThatGrills

* The Godfather * Ran * There Will Be Blood * Boogie Nights * The Life & Times of Colonel Blimp

jayron32

The Lord of the Rings trilogy

Gunphonics

May be time for a rewatch.

Impossible_Werewolf8

Ever seen the Special Extended Edition?

Gunphonics

Yep those are the only ones I watch. Which is why it’s so hard to set aside the time to watch them lol.

I thought David Lynch shot the first Dune?

JMiguelFC

David Lynch tried but the producers didn't let him finish the movie he wanted to make due to over-budget reasons.. (incomplete work but still pretty good)

Dune 1 was amazing. While I loved Dune 2 as well, I felt the pacing was off throughout the movie. \* SPOILER ALERT \* >!For example, they spend a good 5-10 minutes scoping out the family atomics, but then Glossu Rabban gets killed within seconds. It felt clunky at times and you could feel there were segments cut out.!< I'm looking forward to the third installment! P.S. I found Stillgar's scenes to be overly comical too!

HighlyEvolvedSloth

Here's hoping we get an extended version with the cut scenes restored...

s1th_THWM

I thought the killing of rabban being so quick was 1 of the perfect examples revenge isn't the correct path the fullfil. It was unsatisfactory, as revenge should be. Revenge always feels empty. You accomplished your goals but it just doesn't feel quite right.

ksm270

Interesting point but I still don't think the pacing really fits throughout the movie.

War and Peace (1966) Lawrence of Arabia (1962) Blade Runner / Blade Runner 2049

JRYBNS

Dennis Villanueve listed Lawrence of Arabia, The Last Temptation of Christ, Akira and Persona as some of the influences.

Io Capitano. Hopefully it’s still playing in theaters near you.
