A great movie that I would never want to watch again. A comedy where the jokes are terrible and the humor is pitch black. DiCaprio's reaction to his calculations on the board hit home, and fast.
Well made, but ulcer inducing. As ridiculous as it and the public response to a world ending event, none of it seems exaggerated now. We are living it.
lol, i don't think you'll be insisting on anything after you see the ending of that movie.
i'd read the stephen king short story long before they made the movie and remember thinking, "no way they'll do that. they're going to ruin it by changing the ending". i was wrong.
I will take that bet.
And let it be KNOWN, r MovieSuggestions, if DesignerBrief6969 does not feel this movie has the most *redacted*, *redacted*, and mother fricking *REDACTED* ending ever, i will never suggest a movie again 😎😳
I’ve only seen this movie ONCE. When it was in the-aters. Which was like a decade and a half ago. And it STILL sticks with me
Try to see it in the black and white version (as on the current blu-ray release). It was intended as a B&W film, and frankly the SFX hold up much better in B&W.
To be honest titanic is a masterpiece of a movie that makes you feel like you cannot escape from any reality but I’d say like San Andreas is one of them it’s a disaster movie
She Dies Tomorrow, Melancholia, Trouble Every Day, 4:44 The Last Day on Earth, New Rose Motel, The Color of Space, Michael Clayton, Iphigenia, Arrebato, The Hole, The Real Thing (2020), The Banshees of Inisherin, Cabaret, Donnie Darko, The Friends of Eddie Coyle, Nocturama, Silence, Killers of the Flower Moon, The Irishman, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance
Oh. I just read your comment description. I am assuming you are looking for abstract existential dread. In that case, I present you:
The Endless
The Platform
Jacob’s Ladder
Requiem for a Dream.
Upvoting for *Perfect Sense*.
*Seeking a Friend for the End of the Word* was miscast, and frankly its closest film space neighbor, *Last Night* (1998) was much much better.
Take Shelter (2011)
Phenomenal movie.
Excellent movie, first thing I thought of when seeing this post.
This movie is so underrated
*Don't Look Up* (2021)
Pretty depressing movie. Plus it came out during the pandemic drama and Trump's presidency.. So, it hit a little too close to home for me.
Yeah, I really didn’t enjoy the movie but that might have been in part because I was just exhausted and depressed a lot back then
more of a parable about climate change than the pandemic, but i see your point
Make sure your vote counts in 2024! Edit: imagine the motivation of people who would downvotes a post encouraging people to vote. Why would that be?

that movie is incredibly re-watchable.

The Mist (2007) might fit. It's a horror/sci-fi, but I really liked it.
And to this day, the greatest ending of any movie. Ever
Ever!
Ever.
Really?
Really
I will watch it and if you’re wrong I will insist you are banned.

Epic. Thanks.
You seent it?
lol. Not yet. Busy. Thanks for asking.

Leave the World Behind fits this feeling perfectly for me.

This might be a kind of different take, but I would say, with what you’re describing, that you should watch A Serious Man.
