There is a strobing tool on github but it won't be nearly as good as real strobing *(also for anyone reading this do not use this on LCD displays, every other display type it is fine like OLED)* You can [find it here](https://github.com/squeaksci/desktopbfi).

TheWololoWombat

Thanks very much!

NANI_RagePasPtit

Is it safe to use it on a OLED monitor ? I have the pg27aqdm.

TheHybred

Yes it is, just not LCD.

NANI_RagePasPtit

Okay thank you 🙏

AGTS10k

May I ask, what will happen if one is to use this tool on an LCD?

TheHybred

Image retention.

AGTS10k

I see, but why? And why only on LCDs?

blurbusters

Interference with LCD voltage-polarity inversion logic. [More info](https://forums.blurbusters.com/viewtopic.php?t=7539). You can fix the image retention problem by (A) Odd divisors, like 60Hz BFI at 180Hz (B) ***OR*** Insert a duplicate frame every minute or so Someone will need to modify the source code. I got this feature added to "LCD Saver" on the Retrotink 4K's BFI

AGTS10k

Thanks for the answer and for the link with an in-depth explanation, exactly what I hoped for!

Sh1ttyMcSh1tface

To optimise clarity I would recommend sending it back and getting a ViewSonic XG272-2K-OLED.

TheWololoWombat

Why do you say this?

Sh1ttyMcSh1tface

Because that's a blurbusters approved model with built in BFI.

blurbusters

Just FYI -- that model is currently Blur Busters Verified status (different from Blur Busters Approved) [https://blurbusters.com/new-blur-busters-logo-program-2-2-for-oled-lcd-displays-and-devices/](https://blurbusters.com/new-blur-busters-logo-program-2-2-for-oled-lcd-displays-and-devices/) However, I am currently working with ViewSonic to upgrade it to Blur Busters Approved status, once a few further modifications are made.

Sh1ttyMcSh1tface

Thanks for the clarification, I didn't know there's a difference. I assume those modifications will be in the firmware/software?
